Heather Lynn, born in Toronto, Ontario, lives with her family just north of the city. Her education in biology and health sciences has supported an ongoing interest in physiology and the potential of herbal healing. In addition, she has been intrigued by the possibility and impossibility of time travel since childhood. When she's not writing, Heather enjoys family time, working in her garden, and learning more about the 'power' of stones.
After publishing Sky Watcher: A Shadow in Time, Heather went on to publish the second book in the Sky Watcher Series, Déjà-Vu, followed by Between The Shadows (#3) and Empty Shadows (#4).
Book 5, the finale of the series and yet unnamed, is expected to be released mid-2026!
I was waiting with bated breath for this sequel and it hasn't disappointed me.
While I was apprehensive at first that it might just be a retelling with a different ending, it proved to be more than that after a while. Gradually, I got to see some things from another character's POV, I got additional or completely new scenes and I got to experience everything in a slightly different light because I knew (or thought I knew!) how things would play out. Interestingly, once one major choice had been made/plan had been set in motion, the storyline took somewhat of a different direction. I enjoyed being introduced to new characters, learning about people's motivations more, and trying to guess what might eventually happen. For one crisis averted, another loomed on the horizon. And after this ending, I can't wait to see how Sky Watcher's (and Ben's and everyone else's) story will conclude in Book 3.
The second book was just as great as the first! I couldn’t put it down. Some things were relived that I was hoping never happened to Charlie. I could really connect with the characters. Charlie does an amazing job adapting to the time period. Not sure I could. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next.
This is a highly imaginative and created world you step into with the second book, "Sky Catcher: Deja~Vu” had me turning corners and questioning what I knew. The nuances of perspective played so well with the backdrop of the story I couldn't put the book down and wanted to follow whatever direction I was lead in. Charlotte and Ben have that magical chemistry that I just can't get enough of. The blending of romance and the supernatural world, traveling to the past that visually comes to life both intrigues and reels me deeper into the story. The pace, the feel, the flow. I think I'll be reading this book again. I need more. Excellent Author !!!!
What a terrific sequel! I loved everything about this story. It was well written and from a somewhat different perspective than book 1, giving the reader more insight into some of the secondary characters. I laughed and I confess, I cried at parts and, like Charlotte, I fell in love more than once. I wished I could jump into the pages and join this cast of characters. Heather Lynn writes with a style that keeps the intrigue going. I can not wait for book 3!
I have finally finished book 2 of the Sky Watcher series, titled Dejá vu, which is quite fitting. But before delving further, I would like to explain why I am giving this book a rating of 4 stars instead of 5. While it is an excellent read, there are some parts that can be challenging due to their somewhat confusing nature. For instance, towards the end, there is a passage about a dream that may leave readers feeling perplexed, as if something crucial is missing. It becomes clear a few pages later that nothing is actually missing, but the purpose of that section remains somewhat ambiguous, although I trust there is one.
In contrast to the first book, "Dejá vu" also required more time for me to get into the flow. The narrative is quite intricate, and its nuances become clear as you differentiate between the two books. Having multiple narrators sharing their perspectives on the events helps in understanding various aspects as the storyline progresses, although it also adds complexity to the reading experience. Despite these challenges, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. One of the reasons for my enjoyment was the opportunity to delve deeper into characters that were previously overlooked. I have a slight bias towards character development over action, which sometimes leads to its own set of issues, as a compelling story strikes a balance between both elements. Yet, Heather Lynn manages this balance flawlessly.
In "Dejá vu", the characters who caught my attention the most were Lionel and Edmond. I could also mention Marshall, although he is not extensively explored in either book. Another notable character is Penelope, distinct from the famous Queen of Ithaca married to Odysseus. She has a significant role in the events, but my thoughts on her will be shared later. So onwards to the other two.
In my perspective, Lionel is a deeply troubled individual prone to epic mistakes. The root of his torment remains unclear and speculative, yet two key aspects stand out: his volatile temper and inability to handle rejection, as well as his susceptibility to manipulation by a third party. Unfortunately, Lionel's story does not culminate favorably; however, these characteristics blend to create a complex character, leaving one to ponder whether redemption was truly beyond his grasp.
And what about Edmond? Frankly, I only began to truly notice Edmond in the latter half of this book. Initially, in Book 1, "A Shadow in Time," I perceived him as a character who would make me roll my eyes - especially since he works in a Tavern/Inn. I pondered, with disdain, about the probable odors of such a place. Each time his character was mentioned, I preconceived him as "the taverner." Yet, it became evident that there was more depth to Edmond than I had assumed. So, for the first time, I saw him as a complex individual, rather than just a stereotype and this was a delightful surprise.
Deja vu is not only about correcting a mistake but also about progressing the storyline by moving it forward. Once the initial issue is resolved, it transitions to the next one. This cycle of revisiting past events heightens the tension, adding layers to the plot and characters. By repeating certain moments, the story gains depth and complexity, enriching the experiences for both the characters and the readers, while interplay between past, present creates a captivating narrative that keeps us engaged and invested in the unfolding story.
So in conclusion, yes, I do recommend this book very much. And now onwards to book 3.

Déjà Vu is the second book in the Skywatcher series. Having read the first, A Shadow in Time, I was left bereft; I needed to continue reading about Charlotte’s life choices, so I started it straightaway. Charlotte travelled through time with a Wicca ritual spell originally to rescue an ancestor from hanging—her crime, witchcraft. Adapting to life in a small town near New York in 1818, Charlotte has met her soulmate, made firm friends and made the decision not to return to 2013. The second book delves deep into the core of the subplots that surround those in the first. I got to understand the reasons why situations occurred the way they had. Charlotte receives messages from her best friend in her old life, through dreams and rituals, as does Charlotte’s Native American friend, that something terrible is happening in 2013. Is Charlotte willing to risk losing her new life to return to the modern world? Heather Lynn is brilliant at keeping the reader switched on to the characters; she writes beautifully and with a rawness that reminds me a little of Steinbeck. Once again, I was left in need of knowing more about Charlotte’s next adventure, so I am currently reading Between the Shadows! I haven’t been this invested in a book series since The Hunger Games and the Millenium series ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heather Lynn's book two gave more insight into the characters and their motivations. As I read this series I am learning a lot. The mark of a good series for me is if it stays with me and makes me think. The author certainly knows how to do that. Given where we leave Charlotte and Ben at the end of this book there are certainly questions left unanswered.
I love the characters and their relationships and the knowledge I am gaining (eternal student). I am wondering what will happen next and I intend to find out.
Heathers book 2 Deja Vu is another page turner. Well written Heather. I kept on guessing what was going to happen next. Charlotte and Ben seem destined to be together happily forever and then there’s the ending.
Heather Lynn has done it again! Her second book, "Sky Watcher Déjà Vu," begins as an interesting and engaging retelling of the first book in this series. As you read on however, the storyline begins to change and leads to a completely new ending which leaves you wanting more. The main character, Charlotte Harper, travels back in time to save an ancestor from a terrible and tragic death. Charlotte’s practice of Wiccan rituals helps her go back to 1818 where she meets strangers that soon become very dear friends, and also finds love not once, but twice. She is a strong, vibrant character who uses her knowledge of natural medicine to help others. Although very well loved in the little town, there is someone who is out to get her. Despite enduring hatred and violence, she remains strong and resilient, fighting hard to remain true to herself. She is supported the group of loyal friends she has made along the way. Lynn takes us between past and present, with well researched information on conventional and unconventional medicine used in these times. Charlotte’s observations of the past, from the perspective of a modern woman, are interesting, from the colloquial language of the time, to the ways of the townsfolk and native Americans living in the early 1800’s. But it’s the story and the characters which really captured my heart. The plot is absorbing and moves quickly. You’ll find romantic and exciting love stories and characters that are well developed and very appealing. Lynn portrays the deep friendships perfectly and you’ll soon feel like you know the characters. There are many twists and turns…some happy and some unsettling….which all add up to a beautifully crafted story. Buy the book and read it. You will be glad you did. Any you will also be supporting a talented new author who has a natural ability to tell a good story!
Sky Watcher, Déjà-Vu By Heather Lynn You don’t want to miss this Time Travel Romance. Déjà-Vu begins in 2012 with the delivery of a mysterious letter to a young woman. The letter challenges the woman to save the life of a close friend…. in 1819. The close friend is Charlotte, who used her own spell and Wiccan ritual to transport herself back in time to save her ancestor, Elizabeth, from being hung. Her attempt to protect Elizabeth, puts Charlotte in personal danger. The hang men want justice and their quest continues. Déjà-Vu follows a similar storyline as in Sky Watcher, A Shadow in Time, with nips, twists and surprises. Heather Lynn lifts the veil on her characters and gives you a deep look into their personal stories, the good, the bad and the horrible monsters. Wicca is a vital part of Charlotte’s character, but wicca is not what this book is all about. The story revolves around the bonds of family and friendship with strength and love. It explores compassion and dark moments of mental health and relationships. This series entwines the path of a dynamic group of people and the dangers they encounter together. Heather Lynn has developed setting, characters, and relationships to pull at your emotions. She will have you laughing during a snowball fight and a waxing session, or crying with loss and longing. You will want to scream warnings at the pages, and next crave the taste of cranberries. There is lots of love, mystery and suspense to keep the reader turning the pages! If you enjoyed Sky Watcher, A Shadow in Time, then you will love book 2, Sky Watcher, Déjà-Vu! I recommend both books, and I’m looking forward to reading Book 3. bit.ly/3bmxRz0 #writingcommunity #bookreviews #skywatcher
I have been not so patiently waiting for the release of the second book in the Sky Watcher series - Sky Watcher: Déjà -Vu. It was worth every minute of the wait! I could not believe how emotional I felt being back in this incredible world created by Heather Lynn. These characters feel like old friends and I was thrilled to be reunited with them. From the prologue which actually gave me chills I was completely immersed back into this wonderful story. I do not want to give anything away so I will only say that because a different door opened (thanks to the efforts of Charlotte’s new found family) you are back with familiar characters while they experience events in different ways and it also has new insight into the characters perpsectives. Cannot express enough how much I enjoyed reading this book - if you read the first one you will love the second. As with the first book this is a well written, well researched gem of a story. Please can this be made into a movie or series?
The first book of this series ended with a cliffhanger that left me speechless. In the meantime the second part of this series starts with a revisitation of Charlotte's story from another perspective. Initially it may seem strange to read some parts that a reader has already gone through but if the reader directs oneself into another direction, he/she will realize that there is a strong motivation for this outcome. I forgive the author for ending the previous book so tragically and now she has earned a lot of points with this new book. I admit, I am so in love with these characters. Charlotte and Ben are absolutely perfect for one another and the knowledge of a world that includes magic is beyond extraordinary. Now that I ended the book, I already miss all the characters. So I was wondering what will the next book have in store for us. I just really can't wait to find out.
Finally, the wait is over. I completed the book in two days.
The mysterious letter in the beginning piqued the vibe. I was already in love with characters from the first part. This time the emotional connection surpassed my expectations.
At first I thought the story was catching the same story line like the first book in the series, but it transformed with each passing page with a new perspective.
Charlotte time travels into the past to save Elizabeth, her ancestor.
The bond of friendship and love is tested over periods of time.
Thank you, Lynn, for the great story and memorable characters (Charlotte, Ben, Gracie, Keen wolf), a wonderful family.
The journey through the pages of the past weaving to the present was fascinating.
With a beautiful cover and pages of magic, Sky watcher Deja vu is a great read.
I was excited to read an early copy of this book because I fell in love with the characters in the first book. This story takes us through a similar timeline, but from some different perspectives, with some surprising twists and turns. I enjoy Ms. Lynn's relaxed style of writing and pace, and her characters jump right off the page. In this story, we see love and friendship, but we also see the complete opposite as resentment and mental health issues play their roles. There is romance, adventure, and suspense. Wicca enters into the story as a means to explain Charlotte's ideals, perspective and how she got to where she is.
I already miss them all and look forward to book 3. I highly recommend reading this book!
Ms. Lynn took an interesting approach to this story and I really enjoyed it. You needn't have read book one, but it's better if you have, especially given its cliffhanger ending. Then you can appreciate how one different choice can change outcomes. I have fallen for Charlotte and Ben and their friends and look forward to continuing their adventures. Through these characters, we see love and friendship, pain and heartbreak, loyalty and hatred, and a small amount of steam. I enjoyed the writing style of Heather Lynn and the steady pace of the story. I hope I don't have to wait too long for book 3!
I was so excited for the second book in this series, and every second was worth the wait. Reading the prologue immediately brought me back into where the first book left off and into Sky Watcher's world. The story is similar enough that it feels familiar, but includes new twists and details which added much more depth to the characters and series story. This book made me feel joy, sadness, hope and love alongside Charlotte and her friends. The amount of research by the author added realism beyond belief and made it feel as though you were part of Charlotte's thought process and teachings. I could not read this book fast enough and would highly recommend!!
If you like books filled with adventure, romance, time travel, spirituality, history...then this is the book for you! After reading Sky Watcher A Shadow in Time, I waited anxiously for the release of Deja-Vu! I was very curious of how the story and events would change. I was very surprised and pleased with the events that un folded. Once again I fell in love with the characters! It is the type of book that makes you feel as if you know each character personally and miss them when the book is over. I can't wait for book # 3!
Sky Watcher Déjà Vu a truly incredible read, the author leaves you wanting to read more making it very hard to put this book down! I loved how we yet again are taken from past to present, this story will capture your heart. Characters Charlotte and Ben made for each other I feel like I o ow them as friends! Charming story, detailed and beautifully written! Highly recommended can’t wait for the next one!
Was so excited to find out what would happen next with Charlotte and wasn't disappointed! Once again, Heather Lynn wrote with great detail and you feel like you're right there with the characters you already loved from the first book. A very moving story, with ups and downs, and really makes you think about how a decision in one little moment can vastly change the course of your life! And now I will wait impatiently for the third one - can't wait to see what happens next!
Once again Heather Lynn has delivered. I could not put this story down…retold from all new perspectives just made this story become more intriguing and in-depth. I am not surprised my affection for all characters returned instantly. This time I did not read so slowly. I now feel like I want to re-read the book again to pick upon anything I missed as I could not put it down. There MUST be another one…there has to be.
A great sequel to the first Sky Watcher book. While I was initially not a fan of some of the scenes that seemed to repeat from the first book, I realized that the changes in those scenes, some small, some much bigger, made a difference in the outcome. I felt it was true to life in that sometimes small differences in our choices make a huge difference. Another great read and another amazing cliff hanger - bring on book number three!
Again I was drawn in! I thought I was back at the beginning but yet the story seemed to have a different perspective. I actually enjoyed this perspective more because I got to know everyone from a different angle and therefore more in-depth, and now I feel like I know them even more. Again, I feel that the author did an awesome job of bringing me to a place in time with characters I can share these experiences with. Wonderfully done!!
How enjoyable to return once again to the world of Charlie, Gracie, Ben and Keen Wolf. Ms Lynn has once again shown us how the support of close friends makes life richer. Her descriptions of places and events allows us to feel we are actually there and in that time. There is still much to be learned about the mystique of the stones and their power. Enjoy the escape!
I loved every ounce of this story! I loved hearing different perspectives other than Charlottes and it was all so well written. Heather continues to create such loveable characters, and vivid scenes that make you feel although you are there with them! It leaves you wanting more & I am excited to get started on #3!
Sky Watcher: Déjà-Vu is the second instalment in Heather Lynn’s Sky Watcher Series, and it’s a wonderful continuation. After finishing the first book I was genuinely curious about where the story would go next, and this sequel proved to be both beautifully crafted and impressively clever. Charlotte Harper has travelled back to the early nineteenth century to try to save Elizabeth, whom she believes may be an ancestor. In this instalment, her best friend from the twenty-first century, Jessica, receives a letter from 1819 asking her to help rescue Charlotte from the consequences of her own time travel.
What I especially enjoyed about this book is how much more we learn about the thoughts and motivations of not only Charlotte, but also the people she has grown to love in 1819. The use of multiple perspectives adds real depth, allowing us to step further into that world. I also found the exploration of altered timelines fascinating – how a single choice can shift lives entirely, sending ripples that reshape the future (or the past). The writing is vivid, warm, and engaging, drawing you fully into Charlotte’s experience and the lives around her. Through heartbreak and pain, Charlotte remains determined, loyal, and full of conviction. This story moved me deeply and held my attention from beginning to end, and the ending left me eager to see what comes next. It’s a series you can happily sink into, and I can’t wait to read book three. Absolutely immersive, and I can’t recommend this book and this series highly enough!
