Outsmart Negative Thinking : Simple Mindfulness Methods to Control Negative Thoughts, Stop Anxiety, & Finally Experience Happiness

Rate this book
A quick and easy read with practical strategies for anyone struggling with negative thinking. -Amazon Customer Review

Negative thinking—it seems to have no end. The question is, can anything be done about it?

Negative thinking is a self-perpetuating mechanism. Negative thinking fuels more negative thinking, which in turn fuels even more. Around and around it goes, never losing steam or momentum. All the while, you’re utterly fatigued and exhausted.

10 years can go by, and the mind-numbing cycle still will not have stopped. Because it’s self-sustaining, negative thinking only grows stronger with each passing month, year, and decade. Can it be stopped?

There is a solution that will break you free of negative thoughts and troubling emotions (such as anxiety, panic, and frustration), and that solution is mindfulness. No, not the kind of mindfulness where you go to a monastery in the mountains and walk around wearing a robe and sandals all day. We’re not talking about monks and meditation, here.

For this to work, you must throw off your preconceived notions about what mindfulness is. Used properly, it can put an end to your ceaseless worries and negative thoughts so you can finally experience sustained happiness and inner peace…

Surprisingly helpful. If you feel like your mind won’t shut up, get it.

I didn’t expect much from this book. I’ve read many books on the topic, including Resilient by Dr. Rick Hanson and more recently, Chatter by Ethan Cross. I had never heard of the author, so I was a bit skeptical, thinking worse case scenario, I’ll return it.

I’m glad I didn’t. The book is full of practical advice. It’s a quick read. No fluff. The language is clear, almost like an old friend whispering in your ear.

But, I have to say that what I liked the most is Nic Saluppo’s honesty. He’s not trying to sell you an app, a subscription program or anything. In this book, he’s genuinely trying to help.

I wish him much success with this book or the others, which I’ll definitely check out.

Not nearly as good as his book on communication. This one was disjointed and kind of all over the place. Too much information not organized well. Maybe it was because I listened to the audio version, while reading the book may have been clearer. Nic did not have my by in on this book that he had on the other one. I appreciated the concept of owning your anxiety and not trying to make it go away, which only makes it worse. I did not appreciate the concept that I should convince myself I am fine as long as I am not in immediate physical harm. It contradicts the first concept and would not help me in the majority of my anxiety producing situations.

Simple Steps Simple Actions

This book by Nic is insightful and written for the average person that is not a psychologist. His methods are easy to put into practice. Remember though they only work if they are put into practice. I highly recommend this book if you have been bothered by negative thinking. I have been using the reframing method and it has been helping. You don't have to just be stuck in the prison of your thoughts. Thank you Nic.

Where bathroom been!

I have spent years trapped in a cycle of negative thinking. To the point that it affected my marriage, relationships with my children and mostly with myself. This is definitely a book I will re-read and highly recommend to anyone. You don't even have to be stuck in a negative thinking crisis to benefit from it!

The cycle of being anxious and overthinking, then be anxious because I’m anxious and overthinking is exhausting. This book helped me identify feelings vs thoughts and how to process them to stop the cycle. Recommend!

Good advice throughout the book, he does a good job of putting in examples to make you think about what he’s saying in multiple different views. I like the pdf for quick references back to his points to refresh your memory.
