EXCERPT: When Nick had suggested they take a vacation to celebrate Jade's recovery from colorectal cancer, he said they could go anywhere she wanted. He was probably expecting her to plan a trip to London or New York City, since Jade had always preferred fast-paced destinations over places like this. But she'd chosen to return to Chammont Point and the lake that had been so prominent in the photos of that first vacation many years ago.
He'd been confused over her choice until she explained how much she'd come to cherish the memories they'd made there. Xander and Owen had learned to water ski on Chammont Lake. They'd all sat by a fire and roasted marshmallows while they shared stories and jokes. Jade couldn't remember a time when they'd felt more like a family than their time exploring the small town and playing in the water. She wanted more of that.
After her recent health scare, the bright lights of Broadway and a city filled with endless dining options no longer had the same appeal to her. She'd fought hard for this second chance. Spending it in crowded theaters and noisy restaurants seemed like a waste of time when she could enjoy the quiet lake with her husband. Of course, now she just had the quiet lake, but maybe that was better.

MY THOUGHTS: I had been looking for an uplifting, feel-good read for a couple of weeks with little success. And then I started The Restarting Point by Marci Bolden. I struck gold. This ticked all my boxes. Three wonderful, quirky, female characters, and I mean characters, not exactly in the first flush of youth, who had me laughing, crying, and shaking my head at them.
It is the characters that make this read, not that there is anything wrong with the plot. Darby is a flamboyant 1950s throwback; Taylor is more comfortable with a hammer in her hand than a lipstick; Jade is the reason they came together, and is the glue that binds them.
Each of these women has had her self-confidence shattered; each is trying to find her place in life; and each is supportive and protective of the others, that is when they aren't squabbling or taking umbrage at something said. This trio seems to spend a lot of time at two on one; either two supporting one, or one refereeing a spat between two. These characters are absolutely delightful, relatable and realistic.
This is a story of pain and loss, of friendship, support, and beginning again.
The Restarting Point is written in an easy, heartfelt style. The story is every bit as wonderful as the beautiful cover. The plot flows easily, and I simply raced through the story, wanting to find out what happens to these three women, but not wanting the story to end.
I immediately picked up and began the sequel to The Restarting Point, and I am loving it just as much. Thank you Marci Bolden for this delightful book. You have just won over a new fan.

Jade Kelly, a successful executive and mother of two grown children had too often prioritized her career over spending time with her family. Having just survived cancer she is ready for a fresh start and time to reconnect with her family so she reserves a lake cabin in Cammont Point. When her family bails on her Jade decides to go on her own not realizing that life as she knows it is about to blow up. As she comes to terms with her loss she finds in Chammont Point friendships that offer support, comfort, new adventures and second chances.

.
Jade has always been a driven person determined to succeed. That spirit has made her a successful marketing executive, and when she was faced with a serious cancer diagnosis, her strength and determination helped her beat it.
Now it’s time to relax a little before getting back to the grind. When her husband asks where she wants to go on vacation she chooses idyllic Chammont Point, where she has memories of their earlier days from when their children were young. When he can’t make the trip because of a conflict, she goes herself, only to find herself injured after a freak accident. Returning home to nurse her wounds, she discovers the real reason her husband couldn’t join her on vacation—and now she’s really entering a new phase of her life.
For someone who’s always fought hard for what she wants, she’s not sure what comes next. But with the support of an unlikely crew of people—who become friends—she’s ready to take the next steps in her life, even if she has no idea what they are.
This was a fun, poignant read that really drew me in! Even if we all can't identify specifically with the things Jade went through in the book, many of us have experienced a time in our lives when we've been knocked for a loop by circumstances. Essentially we have two choices: let circumstances destroy us, or fight back. That's what was so meaningful about the book.

This was a great book about family, friends and starting over.
Jane, a recent cancer survivor has a fresh outlook on life, she wants to spend more time with her family and plans a family vacation to Chammont Point. Unfortunately, things don't work out how she planned and she ends up going alone. During her stay she finds out her husband has decided to move out of their house and moves on with another woman. Jane is devastated but finds comfort in new friends she meets at Chammont Point.
I absolutely loved this novel. I found it to be an easy, enjoyable read with likeable characters, especially Darby who made me laugh at times. This was my first Marci Bolden book and I am very much looking forward to reading her next book in this series "The Selling Point". I would recommend this book to those who enjoy nice "feel good" stories.

The title of this book is just perfect!
Jade needs a new start! She is a survivor, but has been hit hard.
She has had multiple life traumas that scream "It Is Time for a Do Over in Your Life"!
She takes a vacation to help her unwind, and hopefully find what she needs to do to enjoy her time on this earth.
The lake house is small, quaint and in desperate need of repair, but she meets the best people that can and will help her. Will she take their advise?

I absolutely adore Marci Bolden's books. Her writing style always makes me smile. Or weep. This book was another great and I look forward to the next one.
This book has a cast of characters that you will love. With one exception. One I detested immensely. Even though he stayed and helped Jade get through the toughest time in her life I just did not like Nick at all. He was basically a very big coward in my book. He was untrustworthy and a jerk. But he did stay and help Jade when she needed him most.
Jade, Darby, and Taylor all become friends on Chammont Point. A quiet lake hideaway that Jade escapes to after getting over cancer treatments. You will love these characters no doubt about it. They are all a messed up group of women who are there for each other after only knowing each other a mere week. Friends can be made fast at times. You don't always have to know people for years. You don't have to always grow up with someone for them to be a best friend.
Then there is Liam. I totally love Liam. To me he was sincere, funny, serious and just an all around good guy. No ones lover or serious relationship partner, just a friend who was there if you needed him. I'm still hoping that him and Jade start seeing each other romantically. I think they would be great together.
Darby was my favorite character in this book. She reminds me of the blonde, big bosom, woman that played on Two Broke Girls. Her name escaped me now but if you ever watched the show you would know who I am talking about. Darby is so full of life. She doesn't care at all what people think about her. She lives life. She absorbs life. She's just great. The best thing that happens to Jade.
Taylor is also very likable but in a different more serious way. She's a great friend but at times comes across as harsh. Together though these three women make a great friendship. Like they just belong.
This book has all the feels. Laughter abundant. Tears of course. Friendships forever. Anger at some. Love in many. A huge secret that sets this one in motion. It's an all around breath of fresh air. It was just what I needed.

The Restarting Point is the debut book of the series of Chammont Point. It talks about Jade Kelly, a cancer survivor with a new lease on life, and is trying to start to take things slow and savor everything that comes her way. One of these is to take a family vacation to Chammont Point at a cabin by the lake to relive fond family memories. The book starts when Jade is at the cabin assessing everything and alone.
This book is my first encounter with the author, and I am pleased with the plot, writing, and characters. I could not put it down once I got all my emotions out as I read it! The story is from the first-person POV - Jade's. This type of narrative provides an intimacy between the main character and the reader. Although readers will develop deeper connections with Jade as she shows readers everything inside her head, this technique limits readers' empathizing with the other characters like her family and her new friends in Chammont Point.
Jade's new outlook and a second chance in life pushed her to reconnect with her husband and sons and then find a set of unlikely yet beautiful friends in the process. Good thing she did the latter because the secrets and revelations that come out will knock Jade's world off its axis again. (Hint: this is has nothing to do with her illness.) Crushing news will send Jade further to the brink of "breakdown levels" that will spout the most curious of partnership to two special women who helped her sort things out.
I liked how believable Jade's character is. She is flawed and broken but tries her best to start picking up her life after a traumatic ordeal. Jade never believed she was without fault with what ultimately happened, but she learns and starts seeing others' dichotomy - balancing the good and the bad - in their decisions, enabling her to accept how things turned out in the end.
Readers may find the book's pace slow with its primary focus on Jade's story and struggles. The story does not leave much room for more character development for the supporting characters. But fear not! Two more books are coming in the series that I believe the rest of the characters will get more "page time" and round out the whole series in the end.
I love the comedic elements injected from the crazy 50s-inspired neighbor, a "chip-off-her-shoulders" woman contractor to a flirtatious outdoor sports rental owner. These characters' moral support and advice were invaluable in shaping and directing the story to an ending that shows growth and maturity.
In summary, I recommend The Restarting Point to readers who like second chance themes, exciting and thought-provoking characters, and a slow-build storyline. I "ugly-cried" so often (not less than three times) in the book, mostly during her and her husband's interactions. This book will make readers look forward to the next of the book series to find out the rest of Jade's new adventures, including the other quirky characters of Chammont Point.

This is a beautiful story of friendship, broken hearts and starting over. The three main characters are female and they are the perfect mix of personalities. I wanted to become the fourth person in their group. The small town is a great setting for this book.
After a year of surgery and chemo, Jade is in remission from her cancer and she is ready to restart her life. This is to begin with a weeks vacation but her husband and sons back out at the last moment. Jade goes herself and meets two very different women, who become instant friends.
She tries to return to her old life but fate has other plans for Jade. Taylor and Darby are amazing strong women and they are there to help Jade with anything she needs. The author has created such a wonderful trip of female characters. They are strong in some ways but each has troubles in her past that has turned them into who they are today. These women seem so realistic and are instantly loveable. While there are many serious topics in the storyline there is also so much needed humour. I found myself laughing out loud at some of their antics and then shedding a tear for them.

After a year of surgery and chemo, Jade is in remission from her cancer and she is ready to restart her life. This is to begin with a weeks vacation but her husband and sons back out at the last moment. Jade goes herself and meets two very different women, who become instant friends.
She tries to return to her old life but fate has other plans for Jade. Taylor and Darby are amazing strong women and they are there to help Jade with anything she needs. The author has created such a wonderful trip of female characters. They are strong in some ways but each has troubles in her past that has turned them into who they are today. These women seem so realistic and are instantly loveable. While there are many serious topics in the storyline there is also so much needed humour. I found myself laughing out loud at some of their antics and then shedding a tear for them.

Jade Kelly after reminiscing past family vacations on the lake, didn't have THIS in mind! Jade thought of this as a time to reconnect with her husband and sons, after having battled cancer but here she is by herself. Her husband, Nick, couldn't make it but insisted that she still go. Her adult sons backed out.
Jade stands looking at the dilapidated shack and small cove comparing it to the brochure with which she had based renting the cabin. Trying to get a better look at the lake, Jade leans over and finds herself flying to meet the ground. Out of nowhere comes a lady ready to give her CPR!
The lady is the proud owner of the shack, Darby Zamora, who happens to live next door. A lady with quite a flair for style and doesn't much care what people think of her. Thanks to Darby's quick thinking, Jade has a ride in the ambulance where it's not a broken leg, but a sprained ankle.
Jade returns home and receives a very unpleasant surprise. Seething with anger and hurt, Jade returns back to Chammont Point.
Jade tumble to the ground was due to the banister giving way. After Eye Candy tries to swindle Darby to make the repair of the banister that gave out and lead to Jade's unfortunate tumble, Jade steps in to locate a reputable contractor. A female contractor by the name of Taylor O'Shea, who announces her business is closed for good. Jade convinces Taylor to repair the banister.
Jade, Darby, and Taylor come to form a friendship. Something that none of them truly had. When Jade first decided to live life differently, she had no idea that her vacation was going to bring her so much more than what she first intended!
I loved this story! If we could pick our friends, I would definitely pick Darby and Taylor! I just loved Darby right off the bat! Her character is so flamboyant and had me laughing throughout! The three were mismatched but were like puzzle pieces that just fit perfectly. I felt Jade's emotions at heart but also loved how she started to overcome her anger with some wise words from another friend, Liam. I loved that in the end, Jade's reconnecting adventure leads her to new friends and a place to find peace. I'm looking forward to more books in this series!

The Restarting Point by Marci Bolden is the first book in her new Chammont Point series. Jade Kelly is an accomplished woman. As a wife, mother of 2 and successful marketing executive, she can now add cancer survivor to her life. While everything seems great in appearances, she realizes that she and her family need to reconnect after the stress of her treatments left Jade and her husband, Nick, basically housemates and her children are almost strangers. Jade is determined to start over, to start fresh with her new chance at life. She schedules a family vacation at a lakefront carbon. When her kids bail and Nick stays home to handle a work crisis, Jade heads to Chammont Point alone. Her vacation turns into a life-altering moment as secrets, lies and old wounds open new adventures and new relationships for Jade. With the help of family and her new found friends, Jade learns that starting over isn’t always what you thought it would be.

I received an ARC from Pink Sand Press through NetGalley for an honest review. I expected a lot from this book, and it far exceeded my expectations. Jade has spent the last year fighting cancer, and she is now in remission. She and her husband planned a family vacation but her sons who had graduated couldn't go, so it was just the two of them. Her husband at the last minute said he had to work and couldn't get out of it, so she went by herself.
She soon learns that she has been lied too, and it devastated her.
She went back to the cabin she had rented. The people there were wonderful, caring, and supportive to her. With the help of them she got to her restarting point, and it was wonderful to realize that she discovered it is how you look at something and if you look at it a little differently, it changes how you see it. She realized also she might not be able to forgive, but she learned to be grateful and that is how you can heal. Both of those things, helped Jade but as I read the book, I realized this is a great way to live life too.
She soon learns that she has been lied too, and it devastated her.

I haven't read a Marci Bolden book that I haven't loved. My heart went out to Jade. After the fight of her life with cancer, she is forced into starting her life over. So she goes to the lake at Chammont Point and rents the most decrepit cabin from a woman who dresses like a diva from the 1950s. But this is where she meets two women that will help her navigate from her old life to the new one. I cried and laughed with the three of them as they became true friends that help each other through the good times and bad times. This book will make you think twice at what is important in life, what battles you should fight and know when to move on. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I did not know what to expect when I started reading The Restarting Point, but what I can tell you is that I went on an emotional rollercoaster along with the protagonist. This poor woman, Jade, fought for her life to battle cancer only to recover and learn her husband is going to do the most cowardly thing ever just infuriates me even more thinking back to those chapters. Without giving away any details, you’ll learn to love Jade, give her hope, wish she finds happiness, and ride along with her on the water while she braves what life has thrown at her.
Jade goes to the most adventitious place and meets the owner who is eccentric in her most extravagant ways. A woman who has never fully grown up, is lost in her own world of fashion anomalies, and who just so happens to have a huge heart.
The third and most misunderstood character to meet is a woman who is facing challenges of her own. At her breaking point, Jade pushes her to continue her dream and together work on building her business in a male dominant field.
These 3 women come from very different walks of life, but build the most amazing bond and friendship that makes you envious of your own adult relationships with people you know.
Who doesn’t want to hold hands, drink cocktails, and trust your best friend with all your deepest, darkest secrets?
Liam, oh Liam, you’re a mysterious man. We don’t know what your story will unfold just yet, but I can tell book 2 is going to be an adventure.

The Restarting Point is a wonderful story of starting over in life by Marci Bolden. This story has all the feels as I experienced life through the eyes of cancer survivor Jade Kelly. Her time of celebration is cut short with unexpected events in her life. The title of the book is sums up what is in store for Jade, told with honesty, humor at times, heartbreak at other times and always with resilient hope.
I could not put this book down once I started it. Cancer is a life changer but others affected her life too. Still a fighter she comes out on top with new quirky friends who become family to her, her sons standing with her and her spirit one of hopefulness. Life lessons quotes come at the odd moment in this book delivered by some unexpected people.
I have probably said too much already since I try not to give away a story especially one that is worth reading like The Restarting Point. I also don’t have the words to express how authentic this story seems with me wishing I could be part of this group of friends but of course they are only real in the book. What I can do is honor the Jade’s thought of living my best life daily, thanking God for the good in it, being open to new experiences and even finding gratitude for the lessons learned in difficult times.

A while back, I received a request to review one of Marci Bolden’s books. It was the first one I’d read by this author, and I was more than pleasantly surprised. So I was anxious to see if I’d continue to really enjoy her work with this story. Spoiler alert: I did!
The Restarting Point is less of a romance and more of a chick-lit book. However, I loved it from the very beginning. The friendship that developed between career-driven Jade, quirky Darby, and down-to-earth Taylor was fascinating to watch unfold. Three very different personalities from very different backgrounds somehow meshed into a chosen family and added some along the way. There was a lot of emotion to wade through in Jade’s story alone, and watching her hit rock bottom when she thought she’d already been there, done that, literally brought tears to my eyes at some points. But watching her finally be able to start to pick up the pieces and learning that family isn’t always blood-related warmed my heart.
If you’re looking for a good, emotional read, look no farther than The Restarting Point. Not only is it a story about picking up the pieces, but it’s also a beautiful depiction of how true friendship, love, and support make all the difference.

I got really excited when I saw Marci Bolden’s new book on Netgalley, because I read her last series and really enjoyed how heartfelt and emotional it was. I enjoyed her writing style. And though this one didn’t hit me the way that series did, I still enjoyed the story.
Jade is a successful career woman who has supported her husband and two sons by working hard and advancing in her field until she is diagnosed with cancer. She survives and goes into remission only to have her husband leave her for another woman while she is on what was supposed to be a family vacation at the lake. She decides to stay at the cabin and sort through her feelings and figure out what her future holds, and while she does, she makes new friends and realizes that maybe this was all for the best and she can have the life she truly wants, not just settle for what she has had for 20 years.
This was a story about a strong woman and I liked the friends that were made-they were all quirky in their own Ways, but they were also incredibly supportive of each other and determined to not let life beat them down.
I read it all in one sitting and I think it’ll make a great summer read.

This was a pretty easy read with likable, quirky characters who come together and become fast friends and family. There were some sad moments, especially with Jade (some of which happened before the story started). But, each of the women had some issues that they had to deal with along with characteristics that the others envied. They were all different with different personalities but meshed very well. Darby, who was very open and expressed herself in a very flamboyant way, never felt like she belonged anywhere. Taylor, who came in strong and opinionated, had some self doubts. At a different time in their lives, they might not have let the others in and would have missed out on their beautiful friendship.

This gorgeous cover caught my attention. I love a lake or beach setting, so naturally, I needed to read The Restarting Point. I was hooked from the first sentence—loved the tone of the story immediately and yes, I loved Jade Kelly from the beginning. Throw in some colorful characters from Chammont Point and the heart break Jade suffers at home and Marci Bolden has the perfect book. The Selling Point, book 2, is on my TBR list!

The main character, Jade, has had a heck of year. She beat cancer only to be beaten up by her personal life shortly thereafter. As she faces some hard times, she makes a couple of unusual women friends along the way. They offer her support as she struggles to find her place in the world once more. The three women encourage each other as more of their lives come to light.
There's also Liam. He's a hunk that likes to flirt--not what Jade needs right now. As they fuss at each other, Jade discovers Liam may be helpful and an emotional support she wasn't expecting. Could there be more between them somewhere down the road?
Another lovely Bolden book highlighting the strength of the human spirit when life sucks. I really love the unlikely friendship between the three women. I CAN'T WAIT for the next book in the series to come out!

I'm a big fan of Marci Bolden's writing and knowing she was starting a new series made me super happy! The Restarting Point showcases friendship, heartbreak and starting again and it was a wonderfully told story.

Knowing that she wasn't able to spend time with her family as she would have liked, she is looking forward to the vacation they are all to take together. She is upset when her two sons cancel and her husband tells her that he has to work and is unable to go as well. She forges ahead and what she finds when she gets to her rental in Chammont Point isn't exactly what she was expecting, but she's going to make the most of it! What she does do is meet two very different women who she becomes quick friends with. Friends it turns out she's going to need more than she knows.
When Jade heads home to get her life underway again with her family, she has a curve ball thrown at her. With the help of her new friends, Taylor and Darby, Jade begins to plot what the next phase of her life is going to look like. The three women are very different, yet they have all been through their share of challenging times. They are there for one another even when they may not agree and the friendships continue to grow and strengthen as the book moves along. Plus, a good dose of humor is thrown in for much needed levity!
I was hooked from the very outset of this story. I needed to know what happened with Jade and her new friends. I'm very interested to see how things continue to unfold as the series continues! I'd highly recommend picking this one up!

What a wonderful story of self discovery, friendship and letting go of the past.
Jade’s life is turned upside down when she returns home from a trip to an unexpected surprise. As she works through the pain, she meets some friends along the way that become her allies and sounding board. As she begins her new life there is a lot of soul searching, reflection and forgiveness that helps her cope with the future.
The new friends all have a little baggage of their own, yet as they lean into each other and support one another they find out what the true meaning of friendship is.

The Restarting Point is the first book in a new series by author Marci Bolden. I found this to be an enjoyable read even if for me it was also a very emotional read. I just lost my boyfriend of 8 years in January to cancer, and I was his caregiver the last 18 months of his life. So to say this book brought up some emotions would be puttin it mildly. I know everyone doesn't react in the say way to very stressful situations, but for me I could never have made the decision that was the basis for the main storyline in this book. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

The Restarting Point is a very enjoyable book and the first in a series. Jade is not only a cancer survivor but is trying to start over after her husband has left her. While on vacation in Chammont Point she meets Darby and Taylor. They become friends and soon realizes everyone has hard times to over come at some point in life. I love the description of the small town and all the people who live there. I'm looking forward the next book in this series. Thanks to the author Marci Bolden, publisher Pink Sand Press, and NetGalley for providing a copy of this book for a honest review.

Loved this book. The sisterhood these ladies form is contagious and I couldn’t put this book down. It reminded me of the amazing friendships I have formed over the years and how we always have each other’s backs. I can not wait for book #2 to come out!!!
