But still, I’m the one left dealing with the consequences.
I was already an outcast before that fateful night at the bar—the night a rejected alpha sank his teeth into my neck and set the course of my fate straight towards hell itself.
Because now only one of two things will happen.
Either I’ll become a monster like them, a beast of the night that can shift into a giant, murderous wolf.
Or I’m going to die.
I don’t know which fate is worse.
At first I hate them. My captors. My abductors.
Elon, the abandoned.
Teague, the banished.
Roman, the rejected.
I might not have been their intended target, but when the alpha who hired them comes to collect … suddenly, they’re not ready to hand me over. We must find their original mark, or else the hunters will become the hunted.
And I’ll be the one who suffers the most.
By the time the next full moon rises, my old life is as good as dead…if the mistakes of my new pack don’t catch up to them and kill us all first.
Alpha Rejected is the first book in a reverse harem romance trilogy full of rejected mates, surprising alphas, and plenty of steam. Recommended for readers 17 and up.
Dnf @47%. I could not go on reading about this fmc and her inner thoughts any longer. I wanted her to be strong, I wanted her to get over herself. Wanted that spirit she started out with when first taken. but yet I got a gigantic whiny baby having a Psychotic break down! Get a grip lady. The minute she decides to try to hurt herself I was done. Come on!!! Pathetic!!!
I’ve been having trouble finding another shifter series to enjoy and unfortunately this one wasn’t it, either.
I just finished the book and I can’t remember the heroine’s name… so that might tell you something. (Had to look it up - it’s Sydney.) Didn’t like her as a character for most of the book. I think the best part for me was when she freaked out after realizing the guys were actually shifters - her fear felt real and honest. Unfortunately for the rest of the book she felt pretty one dimensional.
The relationships were super underdeveloped as well, and the guys felt like one line characters. You know… Teague is the suave, stylish one. Elon is the nerdy sweet one. Roman is the leader one.
I was first introduced to Eden Beck with the Wolfish series and now she's back and co-writing her new series, Feral Mates, with Sabrina Thatcher, and it was so good. Alpha Rejected is a paranormal reverse harem that centers on Sydney as she gets caught in the cross-hairs of three stunning wolf shifters who are out to snatch a succubus and ended up with a human. The story was quite an adventure and I highly enjoyed it.
Sydney is a new type of character that I've been introduced to, normally I read stories with strong female characters. They usually have strong personalities, have been through struggles that give them a spine made of steel, even when they don't have anything they still have a sense of value. Sydney is not like that, she hasn't had an easy life and she truly doesn't have a single soul who has cared for her so it messed with her sense of worth. She has a crappy boyfriend named Grant who not only takes advantage of her but is emotional and verbally abusive and that continues to impact her negatively. However throughout the story, she starts to change, she stands up for herself, expresses her ideas, and realizes that she is worth everything due to the shifters that come into her life. However don't get me wrong, I liked Sydney and while I haven't come across her type until now I did find her character interesting and likable.
The shifters, Roman, Teague, and Elon, are complicated. While there was a moment with consent issues (not sexual) and they did keep her against her will but they never mistreated her but did take away choices, however they actually treated her well and with respect. The guys weren't bad by the end of the story I loved them all, Roman the protector, he protects the group and Sydney, Teague is the caregiver and apparently style aficionado, and then there is Elon. While I like the bad boy character, certain guy characters are just absolutely adorable, a puppy who I must protect at all cost and Elon is one of those characters, he is adorable and my favorite of the three. After finding the reasons behind their actions I felt better about him, but I think the main problem was that the guys didn't explain things to Sydney, and any information she did obtain, she had to ask about.
The story was great, seeing a human who has no idea that the supernatural exists come to terms with it in such a dramatic and a little traumatizing way. Sydney's reaction to everything was exactly the way I would think it would happen, learning about the supernatural is not an easy thing for most people. What was really fun was when the group was tracking the succubus and all the hi-jinks that happened, it was highly entertaining and put even more of the shifters background into question. Another great thing was seeing the bond grow between Sydney and the guys while on the hunt. They treated Sydney as an equal, valued her ideas, reassured her, and protected her at all costs.
Alpha Rejected is the first book in Sydney's story, it was full of action, guy problems, danger, hijinks, steam, a woman realizing her worth and building herself up all in the midst of supernatural drama. The story ended on a slight cliffhanger and there are more questions than answers but the drama is just getting started and I'm so looking for more of it in Alpha Rising, the second book in the series.
I read this because I found the author on Instagram and wanted to give her a go.
It wasn’t a bad book, but it didn’t work for me in a lot of ways. The relationship development felt very rushed. We go from a to b really quickly with almost no build in between.
I also noticed a couple stock phrases that the authors used and I definitely didn’t like that. I don’t want to read the exact same sentence multiple times if it’s not for an obvious stylistic choice.
The overall story was fine. It gave twilight vibes for me, which is all good. But the story was just fine. I get that it’s supposed to be a fun quick romance, and it was.
This was my first foray into Indie authors and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a fine book. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend to just anyone, but for people I know would be into it, I’d say give it a go as it’s not a huge commitment.
Alpha Rejected is the story of Roman, Elon, and Teague, and the girl Sydney.
They’re all after a succubus demon who poses a great threat to man because it sucks the life out of men. She uses sex to do that, she pictures emotionally unstable men and basically drains their life. Her names Delilah. Sydney is the bartender who works with her boyfriend who is a liar and a cheat towards her and he tells her to break up the bathroom sex and she does but she also finds Teague interesting is jealous. Delilah gives her a scarf to wear and she goes out the front entrance even though T told her to go from the back but instead she sent Sydney with her scarf on which made Roman as a wolf bite her. They bite another person. She passes out, Grant finds her and gets her back to work after her little tantrum but she doesn’t budge and tells him to take her to the hospital due to her wound and he takes her unwillingly and they get into a car accident and T and Elon, and Roman all take her and lock her up for good reason and she starves herself and Elon gets mad, she tries running away one time and another bad shifter got her and T killed him and then she went into shock and called him a monster. She tried to kill herself once and Roman saved her and slept with her to sooth her. She was no longer deemed suicidal because that’s why they were keeping her locked away. They say she can do whatever she wants and she decides to go with them on the hunt for Delilah. Roman is the alpha serious one, T is the firm but curious one, Elon is the baby I’m guessing and he’s smart and caring about her. Tensions are high and they finally sleep with her. Well T and Roman do, there’s not mention of Elon but we’ll see. Lastly she was dragged by Grant and given to Rylan but her men saved her and they all found out that the mark on the back of their necks are mate marks. All three of them are mated to Sydney. OOF I CANT WAIT FOR THE SECOND.
Sydney is a barback at a dive bar in Florida that she supposedly co-owns with her boyfriend, Grant. Unfortunately, Grant thinks of the place as his and Sydney as his personal gopher. One night, she finds herself in the middle of something supernatural that she has no comprehension of and bitten by an alpha wolf shifter. During a full moon no less. Which means at the next full moon, she will either shift and become a wolf herself or die. And the countdown is excruciating. To top it off, in the middle of this, she finds herself on the hunt for a succubus with the three wolves - gorgeous wolves - that were responsible for her bite.
I can’t say that I loved the book, but I didn’t hate it either. I really liked the storyline and the characters. So here’s why it only got 3 stars from me . . . While One reason I like books is that it allows you to get into the characters head and really see what’s going on, this book spent too much time in Sydney’s head. Sometimes there were awfully dark and heartbreaking thoughts, but all that time stuck in her head negatively impacted the book as a whole for me. Which brings me to point number 2; the pacing of the story was way too slow for me. I’m sure it was a byproduct of being stuck in Sydney’s head so long. But honestly, I felt the book was a bit slow and boring until about 50% in. I nearly DNF a couple of times.
Once we got to that part, the pace picked up and I really enjoyed the second half of the book. In fact, I do plan on reading the next installment to see what happens, as the book ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. While I wouldn’t dissuade someone from reading this book, I would say that if you have some others on your to read list that you’re “chomping at the bit” to get at, read those first. This book would be a good palate cleanser between other PNR series.
Sydney gets mistaken for another female and ends up kidnapped and bit by a wolf. The 3 males that were on a mission to kidnap someone else hold Sydney hostage in a house because in 30 days she will either die or turn into one of them, a wolf. The relationship is weird! They act all sweet and possesive towards her ie. you are ours now and we will take care of you. However, she literally spends days in a dark room where they bring her food with a light source so she can see what she is eating. Hmmm sorry is that supposed to be romantic!? There is no chemistry and the characters are underdeveloped. The best scene is when Sydney freaks out when she sees one of the males kill someone but that was half way through the book. It was realistic but then it went ohhh they are helping me back to hearts and rainbows. Stockholm syndrome....
*Overall: 4.5/5* I liked this book! It was an easy (and quick) read that provided a fun jump into the world of shifters in the American south. Our MC, Sydney, is a sympathetic and relatable 20-something who finds herself bitten by a wolf shifter and the reader is hooked within 10 minutes of reading. I liked it enough that I have added the next book to my TBR and I plan to see this story through to the end!
*Originality: 4/5* Personally, the RH getting protective of their girl against outside attack and bad ex-boyfriends will never get old to me. Is it new? No. But it is done well and I had buy-in as a reader.
*Characters: 5/5* What can I say, I liked everyone. Each character is distinct and while there’s not a lot of development with their stories just yet, I can tell we are just getting started.
*Story development: 4/5* Obviously, this book is the first of a series and it does take some time to set up the plot and leaves us dangling over the edge of a cliff, just as things are getting really good.
*Writing quality: 5/5* No complaints! This is a cleanly written and nicely detailed book.
*Re-readability: Yes* especially before the release of the next books
Who should read this: Anyone who likes contemporary romance, paranormal, reverse harem, fast-burn, shifters who are protective of their mate
Alpha Rejected follows Sydney as she is forced to enter the paranormal world of wolf shifters after a case of mistaken identity. As she awaits her fate - she is cared for by her hot as sin captors and is forced to re-evaluate her life before as well as what it may be in the future. This book lays the ground work for a great heroine who comes from nothing as well as the alphas that are caring for her as their stories start to build and their mysterious background begins to come to light. There are twists and turns and revelations as both she and the men around her face their past as well as new future. As they look to correct the mistaken identity suddenly the tables are turned and the hunters become the hunted. This book has it all: A heroine coming into her own, some rough scarred but protective alphas, steaminess and a lot of adventure. I cant wait for the next book! I received an ARC of this book which is a blessing because I got to read its awesomeness a little early and a curse because now I am dying waiting for the next book!!!
Read this book in one sitting in a plane flight home! Kept my attention the whole time.
Loved this surprise twist on a wolf shifter reverse harem romance! The pack is after a mark, but are tricked and accidentally bite her! What the hell do they do then? Now that they have f*d up soo royally? Well, they keep her. This might be the most realistically written shifter romance I have read. The author lets the leading female Syd go through all the real emotions you would expect someone in her situation, it’s not love at first site. She is angry, pissed, sad, mean, suicidal, and depressed. The antagonist in this book is Delphi the succubus and Randolph the other alpha they are chasing the succubus for.
There are two super hot seamy scenes that perfectly fit the story.
The only reason this is not a 5 is that I really wished there were a couple chapters in the males perspective, and I enjoy a little splash of humor in my reverse harems which unfortunately didn’t fit this storyline.
This is my first book by Sabrina Thatcher and let me ask -
I plucked this book of the Kindle Unlimited recommendations and wow, I really enjoyed it with no expectations. It was a different type of paranormal shifter book that I am used to, it has darker themes of suicide and being constrained but it was something new to me.
There were times that I felt that the female lead was going round and round in circles like a puppy chasing it's tail, it really helped build the traumatic experience as the basis of the story. I really enjoyed the characters, it was refreshing to see authors create characters with more ethnic diversity which is sometimes hard to portray through writing.
It would have been nice to learn more about Delilah- she was an interesting character, even if she was a mere shadow in the book.
I feel in love with Eden Beck with the Wolfish series and was so excited when she started co-writing her new series, Feral Mates, with Sabrina Thatcher. Alpha Rejected is a paranormal reverse harem that centers on A human as she gets caught in the cross-hairs of three stunning wolf shifters who are out to snatch a succubus and ended up with a human. I immensely enjoyed this book. I cannot wait to read the next. The setting to me is awesome. Somewhere I know personally and can relate to which I just thought was the coolest thing ever. The characters are well thought of And complement each other. The ending tho like wow !! I cannot wait now for the next book to come out if you like supernatural paranormal what shifter reverse harem this book is for you !!!
Trigger warnings of suicide **This is a slow burn RH**
This is the first book that I have read from either author. The FMC starts as a bit of a pushover/doormat at the start, but her confidence slowly builds with all the interaction she has with Elon, Teague & Roman. At the beginning, Syd has a jerk of boyfriend that is emotional abusing her until she gets bitten and given a brief crash course about the paranormal world and meets 3 wolf shifters. Syd is thrusted into a world she never knew even imaged existed! Elon, Teague & Roman treat Syd so much better than her ex-boyfriend and Syd realizes this and some puzzles pieces final click into place on why she had to be 'imprisoned' for so long. Looking forward to seeing their relationship grow in the next book and what will become when they realize they are fated.
Alpha rejected is book 1 of a new slow burn RH series. Syd is miserable slaving away in her boyfriends bar when an encounter with a beautiful woman changes her life forever. Syd is attacked by what appeared to be a wolf and then kidnapped by three men she is horrified to discover by the next full moon she will either be dead of a shifter like her captors, Roman, Elon and Teagan, whats worse is she was never their intended target, it’s now up to them to keep an eye on her whatever happens. Adamant she is going to die Syd needs to make a choice, go back to her old life and make the most out of the few weeks she has left or stick with the guys and have a chance to survive.
This is a great start to series, the start was a little slow but it’s interesting enough to want to push through it, there is a cliffhanger ending that will leave you desperate for book 2.
Ok new to this author, thought give this book a go. It’s a slow burner. Doesn’t actually kick in till three quarters of the book but the story decent. It’s written from Sydney’s character. It’s her story, how she is just some young woman. Working for her boyfriend. She’s had nobody all her life, grant her boyfriend makes fake promises etc and she falls for it. It takes her to realise there’s more out there and grant isn’t anybody who generally cares for her when she meets her future at the back of the bar where she works.
She kind of annoying in some ways she’s not your usual FMC that’s for sure. Being a slow burner you can actually appreciate that she’s gone from a naive young woman to finding her new self even if it’s for a short time or not 😉
I enjoyed this book, it's different, a twisted version of mistaken identity by smell...scandals!
Sydney is a smart kick-ass kinda girl and doesn't take the fact that ‘oops’... you're not the right girl-lying down.
She had been quite literally, alpha-napped into a world she has a hard time understanding, even more, when they uttered the words “Either you’re going to turn into a shifter like us during the full moon next month, or you’re going to die.”
After their mistake, they try in their weird wolfie way to look after her, the same time go after the intended target, again Sydney isn't one to sit around and do nothing.
If you're looking for a different story, this is the one, I was very happy to get my sticky-fingers on it early.
This was an okay read, I didn't love the heroine, I felt as thought she was a bit whiney and very woe is me for most of the book. However I am just coming off of strong and Badd A females in the last couple of books I read, which might have clouded my views a bit. As silly as it is the main issue I have with this book is one of the pet names Elon gives her, Selkie. The author describes it has a mythical horse shifter and makes quite a few references about it throughout the book. The problem is a SELKIE is more like a mermaid. A KELPIE is what she's describing (mythical water creature that often takes the shape of a horse) so everytime they would use the term Selkie (usually followed by some horse related comment) it would bother me. A LOT.
This novel is book one to the Feral Mates series. The plots itself was interesting enough for me to keep reading but I'm not really sure what the storyline is. I found the progression of the storyline to be slow moving. It's pretty sad when I've reach the end and can't answer the questions in my head of ; who, where, why, when, and how. It could be me and an off day as well.
The characters themselves were likeable enough. I feel there needs to be more attraction, chemistry, and relationship building.
Maybe it really is me, just in a funky mood while reading this book. I'll move forward to the next and see if my feelings changes.
Interesting read Took me a while to get into this. I felt that the first half of the book dragged on with not much really happening. It was a lot of internal processing by the FMC. The second half of the book was more action-packed than the first. The steam level was good. There weren't really any discussions of feelings/sappy moments, however. I hope Delilah turns up again because I feel like her whole existence left me with so many questions that have not been answered. I'm looking forward to reading book 2! I can't wait to see the guys in a pack setting.
Really good start to the series. Sydney finds herself in a tough spot...well if that spot is bitten and abducted. I like that we get to go throught the journey of being bitten and everything that it means. This book is not an insta-love and it takes a while for you to see the outcome of the bite. I like the slower pace of the story because you got to know the characters during that time and you get to feel them connect over time.
I love the three guys in this book,Elon, Teague, and Roman each give something different to her and I can't wait to see what is going to happen with her, the guys and Ryland.
I almost DNF this book, I only trudged through so I could mark it as read in goodreads LOL. There really wasn’t enough back story to make this enjoyable. Also, the FMC seems to react to things but be unsure why she is reacting at the same time. Like her screaming YoUrEmOnStErS after they literally told her they were wolves was a bit much. Yeah sure maybe she didn’t believe them but still a bit much. Also her OMG let’s kill the succubus she’s Evil stealing soles to why r u guys trying to give her to Rylan what did she ever do to you? Was really bizarre story change. Overall, I won’t be finishing this series.
A fun idea, but I had pacing issues with this book. Moved very quickly at the beginning and end, and not quickly enough in the middle for my taste. Also, maybe I'm just not familiar enough with the reverse harem genre, but is this meant to be a poly romance between the four of them or is it just Sydney with each of the guys? There's a foursome so I sort of thought it was heading in the mutual poly direction but now I'm not sure (the men keep calling each other "brother", etc.). Obviously poly relationships can happen in lots of different ways, I just was confused what the exact relationship dynamic was between the four of them.
The FMC starts out a bit weak at the beginning but builds. She was subjected to a jerk of boyfriend that kept her down until she has to learn about the paranormal world and meets the 3 shifter males. Imagine being thrust into a world you never knew existed! They are the reason she becomes a stronger character by the end in my opinion. The guys are well-rounded are be in-depth and yeah they were not perfect but much better than her boyfriend. I can not wait to see their relationship grow and Sydney too in the next book.
Sydney is just realizing she wants more out of life when she is bitten by a wolf and finds herself dealing with a whole new world. I liked that Sydney didn’t just accept the whole paranormal aspects, the denial and ways she reacted to being kidnapped felt real. I still don’t get why the pack wanted the succumbs turned and not just killed - what would be the purpose/gain from that - so hopefully that will be addressed in the next book. I really loved Elon and Teague - Roman is growing on me, but he had his moments..I’m definitely intrigued and will be looking for book 2!
The book is awesome. Starts out with Sydney working in a bar that she was supposed to become part owner when she came of age. Grant, her boyfriend, lied to her and treats her mentally abusive. She does not see that because of her background. Due to mistaken identity, she gets bit by a wolf on the full moon. Things go crazy after that. The ones responsible for her being bit, take her without really telling her why they were concerned about her. It is a reverse romance with everything involved.
Started out interesting but the story overall seemed a little disjointed.
The relationship development between the FMC and the guys went from 0-60 almost immediately with not much growth there. They kept her locked in a room with no windows or lights then suddenly were like "we would do anything for you". Just kind of weird.
I liked the book but not really enough to continue with the story. I'm happy to read others' spoiler reviews to find out what happens rather than spend the time reading for myself.
The start is good leading up to Sydney's attack but then slows down when she is taken captive. It did drag a bit, but then it is explained why she had to be 'imprisoned' for so long, which added an interesting twist. From there things pick up & move along quickly. The romance doesn't start until late in the book & gets steamy quickly. Was a good quick story & need book two now to know what happens next.
This is the first book that I have read from either author and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The story is really fast paced and full of action, both physical and psychological. I really loved the journey of growth that Syd goes on, she begins to realize that she is worth it and her men show her that someone does truly care about her. I cannot wait to see what her men have been keeping secret and see how their relationships develop in the next book.
This paranormal RH is about Sydney. She gets tired of being treated like a doormat by Grant and as she is walking out she crosses paths with Teague, Elon, and Roman. They accidentally bring her into their world. Syd is forced to face the fact that her life could soon be over and she hasn’t been living for herself for a long time. I am extremely excited that there wasn’t insta love between Syd and the guys. This is a great start to the series. I highly recommend this book!
