Wow! What a ride

Well, he has had enough! He was not going to take it anymore, and he was going to fight against all the bullies who sucked the life against him. Mike was ready to take anything that comes on his way, and this was not the life he expected from the Uni anyway. But did he really do something against them? Or did he became the victim one more time?
Wow, what a great journey. The Aftermath by Julien Mbayi was a really clever creation, and I couldn’t take my eyes off this wonderful craft. First, it started like another simple story about the student life of Mike, the lead character, but the ending was nowhere near a simple student story. I loved how the author maintained a sense of curiosity throughout the plot, and I could almost feel that something was not right about Mike’s life, even if it looked normal. When it comes to character building all the characters were well built, and the transitions were smooth from one scene to another. The ending of the book was super strong and leaves the reader with a lasting impression of the characters. It has been few hours since I finished this read, but poor Mike still walks in my head. Highly recommended read for mystery and fantasy lovers.

Didn’t really know what to expect of this book, but the description got me curious. Let me tell you that it’s been quite a while since I have read such a well-written slice of life. I loved how the perspective changed from Mike’s to the other ones’ perspectives, just to create a better image of what’s going on. It just flowed naturally.
To tell the truth, the story has an unbelievable end – just like real life, when you think things are going one way, they might suddenly change course. It’s a quick book to read, but it gives a long after-taste of thoughts and feelings. These things might happen more often than we like to believe and story is written to make you think and wonder about the ones dear to you – are they going through hardships?
I think this book is a great choice for a rainy afternoon.
