Sage Ryker is every girl’s fantasy. And my nightmare. He’s not used to being told no. He thinks I’m just playing hard to get. But really, I hate everything the rich, cocky, so-hot-it-hurts wide receiver represents. Just when I think things couldn’t get any worse, we’re forced to live together: to be roommates. It’s immediately clear that we’re two opposites that will more likely destroy each other than attract. Then a heated argument unexpectedly leaves us face to face and lips to lips. After that, everything changes. But not for the better. Because with Sage Ryker, love might be more dangerous than hate.
Cute story, sometimes predictable and a little cliche. There were some errors and the book still needs some editing. Once grammar and punctuation errors correct, as well as a few story details which conflict each other, then it’s a really great, easy read. I found it hard to put down. I enjoyed the characters and their stories. I would like to have had more of their back stories slipped into conversations or thoughts, instead of their thoughts rambling on so much about present situations or circumstances.
One conflict: Rory’s mom in the beginning of the book on a phone call tells Rory she watches Sage on ESPN and to give him a chance, but then later in the story the mom acts like she doesn’t know who a Sage is and says that’s a strange name for a girl in a conversation at the bar. Sage isn’t a common name and as a mother, you bet mothers don’t forget any details in a daughter’s life. If the mom is following a famous athlete named Sage who may have a crush on her daughter, the mom won’t comment “that’s a strange name for a girl” when the daughter brings up the name Sage. The mom would respond, “Wait, are you talking about THE Sage.” and wouldn’t miss a beat in asking 100 questions.
Overall this is a very good book, worth reading if you like college sports romances. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Off Sides is about Rory and Sage. He’s a star athlete living the playboy life and she’s the one co-ed who just isn’t interested. They go from snarling enemies to tentative friends. And once they stop snipping at each other, the physical chemistry is too hard to resist and they become lovers. Although they realize this is more than a hookup and they care deeply for one another, things are not smooth sailing for the pair. His future in football and interference from their respective exes threaten to derail them. The story line was pretty well developed but I felt that some of the issues they faced were either dropped or were too easily resolved. The supporting characters (his roommates and his sister) were fun to read about.
Lyssa Lemire is a new to me author. I’m glad I took the chance to read this book and would recommend it to my friends.
I could not find a good page to truly sink myself into, during the beginning stages of this novel. I like to imagine it in my mind as a movie as the pages turn; however, I never could find footing to actually get that started here with this story.
This novel had a lot of good moments, a lot of sweet moments; BUT it also had lot of just okay moments and just a sliver of the romance that the title implied. However, even though there were times when it would lull, I never pondered choosing another novel for immediately something would grab my attention again. There was always something slightly spicy or mysterious which would reel me back in to stick by the side of this author.
Loved it! The back and forth was very entertaining. Plus the cover is HOT! Standalone with no cliffhangers. Sage is the hot and rich football player on campus, but his life isn't all that it seems. Rory thought that they had a connection at the end of freshman year, but he acts like it never happened. Now all he does it hit on her, she always gives a firm NO. She wants more then one night from men and he can't provide that. A twist has them roommates, let the games begin. This is a fun read with fun banter, romance, ex's, and real life decisions that are not easy to make. Great job Lyssa. This was quite a cute enemies to lovers sports romance. Sage is totally in love with Rory but doesn’t realize it is love. Rory i s in love with Sage and thinks it’s disdain. The chemistry between them is steamy hot enough to melt your panties off. I love their banter and how great they fit together once they stop fighting. This story was entertaining and enjoyable to read.

This was my first read from this author. I absolutely loved the dual, first person point of view of the story. This is a deal breaker for me. I really liked Rory. Her pep talks she had with herself were hilarious. These two were adorable together. It was a good read and I will read more from this author in the future.

Book one in the Kings of Campus series brings an intense enemies to lovers romance with strong , well developed characters and in interesting story line. The author brings the heat with their sizzling hot chemistry. She brings the story to life with the banter and arguments and paints her scenes vividly , moving the story fluidly.

At first this book seemed very much like a few others I’ve read, so much so that I was starting to get a bit of deja vu.. but towards the latter half it started to get better. Given that, it’s still well written and enjoyable.

This is billed as an enemy to lovers sports romance. It didn't have much of either. They went from "enemies " to lovers so fast, my head is still spinning, as it did when the almost instaneous I love yous started to fly. The book needed more substance, more meat to it rather than the glanced over so called romance we were given.
The character development was absolutely amazing! Definitely a good book to read. If I have any criticism and why I didn’t give it 5 stars, is the ending comes very fast. I love a book that wraps up the story, but this ending jumped ahead way too much for me.
This book never engaged me. I had to force myself to finish it. I like a plot that sucks me in right away. This one never did. It was extremely predictable and sometimes so cheesy I skipped over stuff. I read a book a day and I read every word. I just couldn't with this one. I wanted to like it but I just don't.
Sorry but its just 2 stars for me... If i wanna read smt short I dont wanna read hundred and more pages about nothing..I want something impulse ad fast, this was slow burn and then last 40 pages or so was just quickened end, it feels unfinished to be true...
I love this book! I loved how the characters really pulled you in and made me want to take the day off to read! Can’t wait to read the third book in series.
Really liked the First 3/4. After that it felt a little rushed and If the author wanted to pack as many Problems in the book as possible before the HEA.
I gave up at like 30%. The author used the characters head space way too much. Too much thinking and not enough dialog or action/ description. Not my kinda book.
Not sure what to say. Did a lot of skimming at the beginning. The end and I live yours came out of no where. Jus not sure on this one. Really didn’t like Sage or his name
Focused heavily on the physical relationship DIDNT exactly showcase their relationship otherwise. It seemed to have happened overnight that they fell in love
Rory and Sage were so good together, I really enjoyed their back and forth. The ending was a bit abrupt and left much to be desired. But overall I enjoyed this read.
