Dairy-Free Death
The peaceful life that Erin had pictured in Bald Eagle Falls remains elusive as her family’s past. And then her own past comes knocking on her door…
Allergen-Free Assignation
Erin is happy to be dabbling in a murder that this time is too old and too cold for her to be considered a suspect. But as Erin begins to unearth the buried secrets of Bald Eagle Falls, she is forced to confront her own family’s dark history.

Gluten-Free Murder, my first read from author P.D. Workman, although I own several of her books I’d never gotten around to reading one and after I’d acquired Auntie Clem’s Bakery #3 I wanted to read the first two books in the series before reading it, I really don’t like to read books out of sequence. Gluten-Free Murder is extremely well written, the characters well developed. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make a reader get invested into the characters and thereby the book. After reading this book I now know much more about gluten-free than I did before and why it’s such a big deal. My second read from author P.D. Workman (the first was so good I had to read another immediately), although I own several of her books I’d never gotten around to reading one and after Dairy-Free Death, m’d acquired Auntie Clem’s Bakery #3 I wanted to read the first two books in the series before reading it, I really don’t like to read books out of sequence. Dairy Free Death is extremely well written, the characters well developed. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make a reader get invested into the characters and thereby the book and now in the second book of the series you already know the characters and can appreciate the continued growth of the characters and the community. Allergen-Free Assignation, my third read from author P.D. Workman (the first two were so good I had to read another immediately), although I own several of her books I’d never gotten around to reading one and after I’d acquired Auntie Clem’s Bakery #3 I wanted to read the first two books in the series before reading it, I really don’t like to read books out of sequence. Allergen-Free Assignation is extremely well written, the characters well developed. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make a reader get invested into the characters and thereby the book and now in the third book of the series you already know the characters and can appreciate the continued growth of the characters and the community as well as the author’s 3-book weave to get to this point. So many things from the first two well-written books now make even more sense with the culmination of the third book. I’m really glad I read the books in order and look forward to P.D. Workman’s next book. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
This story begins with Erin Price inherits her Aunt Clem's Tea Shop in Bald Eagle Falls, TN. She has been raised in foster care after her parents death in a car accident when she was four. When she arrives in town she stops by the Tea Shop to look around and meets Officer Terry Piper who thinks she is a burglar. The next day as she is cleaning the place, she meets 3 other women, when she tells them she is not reopening as Tea Room but a Bakery. They all tell her that they already have a bakery in town but she informs them hers will be a gluten free bakery. When she arrives the next day, her coffee cup is smashed on the floor of the office. She believes someone has been in the Bakery but when Terry Piper investigates, he finds no sign of breaking and entering. Who is the ghost? This book contains 3 separate stories all about the Bakery. Who is her ghost? Who killed the other bakery owner. Is the same person now trying to kill Erin? Will her Bakery fail? These stories are great. Really recomend this book.
I had a hard time with these books. I wanted to like the characters and some ideas about them I really found appealing. But everything else is so... thin and ... malnourished. The plot line is simple and doesn’t make you use too much of your brain. Having a Victor/Victoria character made me think of Julie Andrews, but only marginally. The psychological dimension of the character is limited and the same applies to other serious themes in the books - prejudice, intolerance, bigotry. I know this was not the purpose of these books, but ... is still disappointing.
I was terribly disappointed that this book wasn’t just a cozy read about a gluten-free bakery. It had an agenda and I don’t like that in my cozy books. I am very sorry if Ms Workman has had dealings with Christians that were negative 😢. I hope she will understand that we are not all judgmental or unkind. I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I also believe that it is my personal choice. It is never okay to treat someone unkindly just because you disagree with them. Praying for all the best for Ms Workman🙏❤️
These books are full of religious bigotry and hatefulness shown by so called religious people, and the sustained reasoning of the main characters atheism against religious people. It’s extremely narrow minded. The spelling and proof reading and editing are also very lacking. Reads very simply. I won’t be reading any more that’s for sure.
Just finished the first three books of this series. It has everything one needs for an enjoyable read: an inquisitive heroine, her best friend, a cozy home, an adorable cat and pet rabbit; plus 2 handsome men friends. To top it off, the guilty party is often a complete surprise.
It was wonderful to pick up a book which actually recognized a gluten free lifestyle as a real solution to a very real problem. Auntie Clem’s Bakery came to be my favorite hangout, and I am looking forward to re-entering through the rest of the books. Although a few questions have been answered, there are many more answers to look forward to.
I loved these books because they had interesting characters and intriguing story lines. The characters were developed throughout the three books and became like friends. There were murders and mayhem, which added to the humour, kept me reading into the night.
Very interesting stories! Enjoyed the interaction of the characters , and how some in the small town cling to old ideas. There are twists and turns in solving the mysteries .
I was annoyed that the end of the third book left you hanging for the next in series which is fortunately available already although I was planning to read more since I enjoy the series. Great plot and characters.
Heart. Suspense. Fear. Friendship. All are prominent features in this third book of the series. There is one thing that would immensely improve this tale: WE WANT MORE MARSHMALLOW! Thank you
