Lisa is a small town girl that escaped the big city. Barely out of high school she waits to hear from her sister to get a job as a flight attendant, but she needs to support herself in the meantime. Constant unemployment through no fault of her own makes her resort to posing on OnlySimps and having her own private Snapchat. However this leads to an offer that she knows in her heart that she should refuse, but is the money that is being offered too good to refuse? Is she willing to take her own safety out of her hands just to get money from a mysterious group of collectors? Will she be bought not knowing to whom the results will be sold?

I had the great pleasure of giving In the Dark for the Dark Web an early read as it was being polished and I was stunned by how well Benson E Wolf managed to ride the dangerous edge of dubious consent erotica without ever making the story feel exploitative or wrong. Make no mistake, there's real fear and anxiety here for Lisa, but we're provided enough background and insight into her character to trust (or perhaps just hope) that she can handle it.
The BDSM aspect at the heart of the story is comprised of equal parts pain and pleasure, dread and desire, and it's where they all meet that the fun happens. I loved how Wolf set the scene, easing Lisa into it through voyeurism and masturbation, making the introduction of her partner a thing of both shock and excitement.
What's important to remember throughout is that Lisa is a willing participant, a young woman driven by greed, who surrenders to lust. She has opportunities to walk away, but she chooses to succumb to ever darker, more deviant sexual desires. Whether you identify with Lisa or her nameless partner, this is a rather breathless kind of story that will get your pulse racing and leave you with guilty, dirty, nasty dreams.
Short erotic story of BDSM. Lisa is a willing participant. The potential reward (money) surpasses the risk (being seen by someone she knows). The author does a good job of the fine line of consent, with not really knowing what you consented to. I expect Lisa will choose to take the reward again, if it is offered. Narration was good.
I received a free copy of this as an audio book, and am providing my review voluntarily.
This short story shows B.E. Wolf’s talent. It vividly explores how the main character’s doubts and fears morph into a dark pleasure. The story stays on the right side of the risky border of exploitation. Or does it?
