Lights! Camera! Murder!

Rate this book
A Hollywood film crew has taken over Modest Peak, using the small mountain town as a setting to film a blockbuster movie. And where this is good for business, tourism, and the town in general, it’s bad for Constance. A very large portion of the movie is being filmed in The Lone Peak Hotel, effectively closing down the hotel in the process. But Constance is trying to see the bright side of things, using the time away from her hotel as a much-needed break. When a dead body turns up on set, she decides not to investigate. That is until Sheriff Nevil pushes her over the line, forces her hand and bets her that he can solve the case first. Starting out strangely, with a lead so over the top that it wouldn’t be out of place in a Hollywood movie plot. As more bodies join the first, the plot thickens, twists and turns. Constance will be forced to question if she is on the right track, or if she has simply been watching too many movies lately. Please Eighth Volume of the Lone Peak Mystery Series. Approximately 51,000 words in length. It is a standalone (reading prior or future volumes not required to enjoy the book, no cliffhanger).

The eighth book in one of the most enjoyable cozy mystery series that will not only keep you turning pages but will have you laughing out loud as well. Constance, owner of the Lone Peak Hotel has rented out her hotel to a movie set who was filming the adaptation of a book written by one of her favorite authors. Both her friends got parts in the movie as well. Constance, was taking a break from running the hotel and since the author of the book they were filming was on set, she wanted desperately to get his autograph. Sheriff Nevil, who she always helped while solving other murder cases was the body guard to the egotistical obnoxious star who thought he was the detective of all detectives even though he was an actor. When one of the other actors is found dead, Constance once again gets involved in trying to solve the case, but this time, the sheriff lets the actor take control of the murder site pushing Constance away until they make a bet as to who will solve the murder first. When one of the stunt actors gets murdered, things get even more crazy. What has the Russians and the Irish Mob have to do with anything? With so many twists and turns and crazy clues, Constance goes plods along find clues she knows she should share with the sheriff, but since he is blind to the ineptness of the "detective" actor, she withholds the clues for now while getting closer to the truth. I love this series and once I start one of the books, I can't put it down until I finish it! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

What a mess! Poor Constance is staying with Sydney who “cooks” breakfast of cornflakes and milk and makes the worlds worst coffee. After the first murder, Constance finds herself investigating alone. Of course, she has much more talent than Sheriff Neville does in the detective department and she stumbles across some very intriguing clues. I love how her mind works! I enjoyed reading this mystery!
