Except she kissed him and now he won’t go away. She also can’t shake the feeling her life is about to implode.
Is Greer the kind of man who’d stand up to her family of savage werebears and protect her? Or just maybe, she can become the woman who stands on her own.

What an amazing follow up to Dragon Mated! I love how Greer can see his mate past her anxieties, and brings her peace and safety. They are the perfect couple and compliment each other so well. The author did what she does best with this book, and just made it a seamless extension of the world she has created. I enjoyed getting to see more of my favorites, and getting a little glimpse of what is going on with the clan. I can’t wait to see what happens next with both clans. I’m sure it’s going to be amazing!
It wasn't particularly good. We’re told Lily is “rough around the edges” but I never saw that. She was more like a doormat, except she had these random AF anger bursts that only seemed to appear where Greer was concerned. The guy who groomed her and abused her? Yeah, she’s OK with him demanding stuff and throwing threats around, no anger there, sometimes fear (understandable), but the fury she displayed with Greer, a stranger to her? nowhere to be seen. Also, nobody seems to care about an entire community that literally grooms and abuses girls, and has done for decades, it seems. That bothered me. Lily and Greer didn’t seem to have any emotional connection, she is afraid, which is understandable with her history, but all of a sudden she does a one-eighty and is all in with the mating. And the groomer guy just leaves and her clan of groomers becomes a non-issue. Worldbuilding is almost non-existent, so I have no idea how that would fly or what could be done according to the rules of this world, but the fact that the whole predatory behavior is just trivialized didn’t sit well with me. Also, there were a lot of mistakes, where characters were called the wrong names, or words were missing, or there wasn't any indication of who was talking... it seemed to get worse near the end of the book.
Lily, a bear shifter on the run, flees from Greer, a Wolf shifter, who she thinks is after her. He is, but not in the way she thinks. This story has one epic three-way showdown, a bear shifting with a shifting problem and fleet o’ feet, and a wolf who know who he wants. A speedy read packed with excitement and romance.
Once again we get a story in this NEW series that is now recycled for the third time. This was originally a book in Celia Kyle’s Grayslake Kindle World series and was then extended to become part of this authors SOUTHERN SHIFTERS world. I knew before I grabbed this that I had already read it. Though some names are changed, the same silly errors are still in it, meaning it has not really been checked over before release. Lily is such an interesting character, stronger than she believes she is. She was raised in a backwoods clan where women are breeders at age 14. She is raw and untutored in the normal everyday life skills we take for granted. She is rough around the edges as she has never known anything else. She has managed to escape and found sanctuary in the small town of Enigma. Greer is a sort of council bounty hunter and stumbles across Lily in the diner she works in and ends up wearing a plate of food, due to Lily thinking he is looking for her. Following protocol is difficult for Lily as she has never learned any of the polite rules of living with humans, this gets her in trouble with the Alpha. I did not enjoy this as much as I did when I originally read it years ago. The humour that was found due to the original characters this was written around is sadly missing from this. Luckily, I read it through Kindle Unlimited but would be annoyed if I had paid for it again.
By the time I got to 61% the H and h still weren't even close to having a romantic connection. Also, there were so many complications I didn't see how in the remaining 39% there could actually be a satisfying romance and fulfilling HEA.
First off, I’m giving the author the benefit of the doubt because I didn’t realize this was book two (and I haven’t read book one). So, although it would’ve been two stars, I’m giving it three.
With that said, nothing happens. There’s all this build up, and spoken background, but it’s resolved with little to no hassle. The story had potential, perhaps if it had been a smidge longer, there could’ve been a bit more action.
This is another book that I feel would do well with the “Rotating POV” writing style, where it jumps from the pov of the female lead to the male. As of right now, the author doesn’t paint a colorful enough image for me to warrant good use of third person. Plus, when there’s more than a handful of people in a room, I’d get lost as to with “he” was him and which “she” was her or whoever else.
Instead of them talking about their pasts, I would’ve loved to have been “shown”. Perhaps an extra few chapters in the beginning of the female leads life before she came to the town, rather than the page or so synopsis we were given. Maybe even flashback chapters. It would’ve given more depth to her experiences.
Lastly, this really could’ve used an editor or beta readers. Quite a few typos. And I swear there was one part where it looked like the author decided to change a part and accidentally didn’t re-read once finished because it didn’t quite make sense.
Overall, not terrible, but with a bit of work, it could’ve been better.
Lily was from a very old fashioned bear den who were struggling to survive. She grew up with her family in a one room cabin. The den needed more shifters to survive so at 15 Lily was taken away from her family and moved to another den. It was expected that she would either be chosen as a mate for a male bear shifter or as a breeder. She would be forced to have the babies of another male shifter and have the baby taken away from her. Lily wanted to run away but didn't have the courage until she miscarried her baby. Her bear took over and she ran. Now she has a home in another bear den but she is always afraid that her old den is looking for her. One day, two strangers came to town looking for a missing female shifter. Lily is terrified that they are after her. She panics and her bears forces her to run. Greer the wolf shifter chases after her to find out what is wrong. Lily is drawn to Greer but is also terrified.
Greer is a hybrid wolf shifter. He and his bear shifter partner are on the search for a missing female cougar. When Greer meets Lily in the diner, he has mixed feelings. He is suspicious of the panic she is showing but he is also drawn to her. His wolf wants to bring her home to their den. Will Greer be able to get Lily to tell him the whole story or will she keep running?

I actually read this book before reading the first in the series, Dragon Mated. The Main Characters were fairly well developed. Lily more so than Greer. If the reader had not read other series by this author, one would have been totally in the dark about where Greer and Calder came from. And you never do find out just what combination of shifter Greer is. You still don't find out what kind of supernatural Jami is in this book, but the Psy clan keeps being brought up but not explained. Could it be the author is relying on the reader having read her other series? If so, it is failing miserably. It has been years since I read of the Hybrid nation and Greer's alpha Behric, but it faintly rang a bell for me. Not really getting a favorable impression the the Bear clan in this town either. They all seem pretty high handed and unlikable. Not sure if that will change in the next book, Bearly Dated, which is about one of the bear clan, Carter and Jami's sister, Violet. Still not convinced that if I didn't read this book via Kindle Unlimited I would have thought it worth my time and $$.
I enjoyed escaping into the pages of this one, I loved the way both Lily and Greer connected, she's managed to make a new start in Enigma but fears her family finding her so when she hears about two men looking for a missing woman she assumes they are after her and panics.
Lily first met Greer who along with his companion has been tasked with finding the missing woman. As soon as Greer and his friend entered the diner where Lily is working Greer feels something he never expected to feel, a connection to Lily and he knows instantly that she's his mate! Both try to fight the truth, she fears he won't want her if he learns the truth, but as far as he's concerned he'll go to any lengths to keep her safe but will he be able to save her when/if her past comes calling?
The book has two well-drawn, likeable characters who share a great connection as well as palpable chemistry, and an enjoyable storyline that has something of everything. action, secrets, intrigue, romance, chemistry, hope for a future and most importantly love!
I loved the characters and getting to see them figure things out and find their happy ending. Lily escaped from her family and the life they wanted for her so when two strangers come to town asking questions, she is worried that it has something to do with her family locating her. I loved the banter back and forth between Lily and Greer. He won't go away. He isn't sure exactly what it is about Lily but he is drawn to her and even though he is looking for a missing woman and on a short time frame, he just can't get her out of his head. I loved seeing them work through things and figure it out in order for them to find their happy ending and get together. This story pulled me in from beginning to end and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to more in the series! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I really like the way this story starts, with Lily working in a diner across the country from where she grew up. We are told that she escaped her horrible clan with only the clothes on her back and no money, but we do not know the back story until she overhears two old gossips in the diner discussing two new men in town. Those men are searching for a missing shifter and Lily assumes it is her they are looking for. At this point, we discover the kind of shifter that she is and a lot more. This is the beginning of a very twisty story with several sub-plots that all come together at the same time. Lily has to make some decisions with very little notice. Well written and as usual with Eliza Gayle, great world building.

Greer was way easier to like than Drago, but Lily, I sometimes found annoying...
Although, not as awful as Jami! Gah! Jami was absolutely, unreasonably suspicious, churlish and snarky when she discovered dragons, bears, and other shifters existed, and that true mates were a thing. Jami even denied her body's reactions and responses to Mason's out of sheer stubbornness, talking them in circles, which went on for pages at a time. Lily did a slightly less hostile job of circumventing Greer's claim, probably because of the fact she was a shifter and knew that part of their guarded secret, and her hesitancy had more to do with her lack of worldliness and self-confidence than wanting to be deliberately contrary. Unnecessary arguing and ridiculously circuitous discussions made much of the dialogue boring. Three stars.
HEA Standalone, interconnected characters Part of two different series, 1 by same author, the other by different authors *over 18 readers only * Shifter romance 3rd person narration
Trigger warnings Miscarriage Forced breeding
Lily (Bear shifter) is running from her clan. She thinks Greer (part wolf, part maybe bear shifter) is looking for her, but he's not. She panicked and half-shifts in front of humans. Things get crazy after that, but Greer refuses to let her go. He claims her as mate in front of EVERYONE. Will she accept? Can he keep her safe?
This book took turn after turn once it finally got into the nitty-gritty. I liked it better than the first one (about the dragon), but only after everything finally started happening. The very beginning felt like it was dragging.
Greer and Calder was following a female shifter in unfamiliar territory. Enigma, South Carolina is the name of the town. Lily Hale had come into territory to hid from her clan. She was working at the diner when they walk in. They were talking about the female shifter they after. Lily got so upset she started to change in the diner. Greer kept watching her and when she started changing and running out. He chased after her. He was a wolf and she was a grizley. She jumped into the lake and he went in after her. The sheriff and his second came after them because it is against the law for a shifter to change in town. He tells them that she is his mate bot the female they were after.
Lily had escaped from a hard life in Alaska where she was expected to be a breeder and come to Enigma. She was traumatised by her past, and when 2 strangers came to town looking for a missing woman, she was convinced that her family had found her, and she tries to run, shifting and breaking a strct town law. Greer and Calder only have a few hours to find the m,issing Cougar shifter - but Greer cant get hios thoughts awy from their waitress. Are Lily and Greer mates? What wil;l happen when her family comes looking? Loved it

A true mate. Great story. Action, hope and romance with some spice. Lily was able to escape from her archaic family in Alaska. She made it to Enigma, SC. It's a whole different world for her. When she hears about two men looking for a missing woman, she start to panic. Greer and his friend are assigned to find a missing woman. When they stop at the diner for food, Greer is drawn to Lily like nothing he's experienced before. She's his mate! Can he save her when her past catches up with her? Will he still want her once he learns the truth?

Eliza Gayle is fabulous at world building and coming up with a different slant on romance in everyone of her stories. In this case, a wolf shifter visiting another wolf pack, runs into a crazy woman in the local diner who flips his switch despite her being a bit odd. This is a fast moving story with instant attraction and a scared shifter worried that she will be tracked down and forced to return to her old den. There are really funny moments mixed in to keep the story light. Well written and enjoyable.

I'm so confused about Jami from this book vs Jami from her book. Nothing matches
Better editing and proofreading needed
"To her relief, Drago (no one ever seemed to call the shifters around here by their first names it seemed) spoke first." Except for every single one we've met so far. I'm about 75% in too lol Sorry, except Greer who isn't from there Also, in chapter 1 the heroine tells us how she spent months on the run and covering her tracks, and then Vicky found her dumpster diving behind the diner In Chapter 14 the heroine tells Greer that she spent months in bear form wandering aimlessly until Jami found her when she entered the territory
Lily is in hiding from her clan and hopes she finally found the place she’ll be safe in, in Enigma, but when she overhears that there are two men who have come to town looking for a missing female she panics. Then when she comes face to face with Greer her fight or flight response shifts in gear, flight it is with loads of consequences. An intriguing paranormal story full of angst, drama and suspense which I loved from beginning to end.

Looking for a missing female shifter, Greer and Calder arrive at Enigma, South Carolina. Their questions set off a waitress who is on the run from her bear clan and mistakenly thinks these guys are looking for HER. After an incident involving a bowl of chili, she turns and runs… from her Mate!
Lily Hale came to this small southern town for safety. Now she has a wolf shifter who won’t stay away. Greer is definitely drawn to Lily. When will she realize that she is his mate? Will he be able to keep her safe when her clan tracks her down?
A trapped animal is going to react badly and a trapped shifter no less. A story full of emotions and fear brought about by an upbringing where females are used as breeding machines . It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone Not your normal lovey dovey shifter story and it does keep you on the edge throughout waiting to find out how it ends so if you want an unusual shifter romance ( and yes it is a romance ) then this ticks all the right boxes

Runaway bear meets a wolf searching for a runaway... Good story, although Jax (the alpha, not the hero) did not endear himself to me. I didn't feel like he really had the back of his clan member... the whole maybe, but the one, not so much. I didn't understand Lily's decision process... mostly because she shut herself in a room and didn't share it with the reader either. Decent read, but didn't make me want to read more of the series. I didn't read book 1, but it wasn't necessary.
3.5 stars for bear shifter Lily and her hunting Wolf hybrid mate Greer. A complete new shifter society to me. Bear shifter are still a novum to me and the idea of a cult like pack was something that got me chills. Also the way Lily has so little control over her animal, but is still a strong woman who escaped a cruel fate. I wasn't totally happy with the way the story was told, missing a way to connect to the characters. But the story line and that it's a fairly short book kept me in the loop from start to end in one move.
Good quick read. It had suspense, comedy and excellent shifter action, namely multiple animal shifters all working together... at least most of the time. Loved the scene where Lily knocks Greer over in her grizzly form. Read the book in one go. Time to read the bonus epilogue from the author. I would be interested to find out more about Greer’s shifter genes and what other mix of animals he has and the potential of that.
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Wolf Baited by Eliza Gayle is the third book in The Enigma Shifters series. I enjoyed Greer and Lily's story. This was a quick read that was emotionally charged. There is a lot of drama and angst, brief moments of humor and the beauty of a shifter finding their mate. While this read is best enhanced by reading the series in order, it can basically be read as stand alone.

Lily is a bear shifter with tenuous control and she is on the run. Greer is in town looking for a runaway at shifter and something about Lily is calling to him. Lots of craziness!
I liked the story well enough however it isn’t a favorite. Not sure I liked the town and those running it very much. Lily is pretty high strung which kind of wears you out.

The heroine from the last book is the best friend of Lily. Lily is a bear shifter running from her past, literally. When two men com into Enigma searching for a run away woman, she just knows they are looking for her. Greer sees Lily in the Cafe and knows there is something special about her but he isn't sure what. He and his partner have to find a woman wanted by the council so he doesn't have time to figure out what is happening. Or so he thinks.
