One forgotten book of poetry A case of mistaken identity A love letter to the wrong beau And a wish made 'round the maypole
Miss Rose Waterstone might be a romantic, but she knows better than to believe romance can happen to her. True love and magical wishes are all well and good in poetry, but there's no place for it in her real life—not when the fate of her destitute family depends on her marrying well. Time is not on her side, and fortune has never been in her favor. Which is why she's shocked out of her wits to discover the book of poetry she'd wished for at the maypole in the most unusual of places. And when she finds a love letter inside that seems to be written for her? Well, maybe true love has found her at last.
Then again...maybe not. When the intimidating Viscount of Thornton tracks her down and accuses her of intercepting a hidden message he'd been sent to recoup for the crown, it becomes very clear indeed that she's made a mistake. Romance is not in the cards for her. But though her mishap leads to mistaken identities and a whole world of misunderstandings, it also finds her working side by side with the scowling viscount as they track down the hidden message. In the process, she discovers that the viscount isn't nearly so terrifying when he's knee deep in a duck pond, and true love...? It might just be more than fiction. It might be standing right in front of her.

So begins mistaken identities and a whole world of misunderstandings. The fourth & final part of the series & a lovely finale it is. I didn’t take to Liam at the start but the more I read the more I liked him especially after that priceless moment at the pond. I read this captivating read in a sitting & thoroughly enjoyed it & like all of this series I was left with a smile on my face. The characters had depth & the story flowed really well. A well written, entertaining read My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Rose was so lovely in this story. I was glad that she got her Viscount, and how surprised she was. She couldn't quite believe it at first, especially as she loved Liam. This is a very enjoyable story. Love this series! 4☆
What's a romantic girl to do when she finds a love letter addressed to her in a book of poetry she had been looking for? Looks like her Maypole wish is coming true?
Liam Barrow is looking for that book also and needs that letter. Unfortunately he thinks Rose took the letter and he is on a mission from the crown and it is very important!
A journey of misunderstandings, humorous banter and finally a way to true love. What more can you ask for?
This has been such a sweet, fun series and I have enjoyed every one!
I found this a really good book. Rose is a strong character. She understands what is expected of her with her family circumstances but is resolved to look for romance in a novel rather than in real life. Can she get both.
I AM SO LOVING THIS SERIES!!! A Wish Upon a Viscount by Maggie Dallen and Katherine Ann Madison is book 4 in A Maypole in Mayfair series. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. This is probably the funniest of the series and I was just love all the embarrassing things that happen to the hero and heroine of this story. This is so very charming and well written. The story is original and the characters are just too wonderful. This clean regency romance is a must read and I really think you will totally enjoy this book as much as I have. This story has a poet, a wish on a maypole, a brooding viscount, running into a pond, misunderstandings, a secret code, a house party, good friends, a special poem, needing to marry for money, knowing one’s duty to this family and falling in love. I highly recommend this book or any of the books in this series… they are all truly wonderful!
**This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Mishaps and miscommunication are the hallmarks of this sweet romance. I loved Rose's gentle nature and quirky character and although Liam Barrow, the Viscount of Thornton appears to be a humorless individual, he is in fact a caring and sensitive person. When her friends' wishes are granted, Rose doesn't expect to receive an answer to her's, but finding the book of poetry that she longed for, with a note addressed to her, make her think that her luck has perhaps turned, only to experience extreme disappointment when she is proved wrong. In spite of themselves, the story does come to a happy conclusion, and the ladies who danced around the maypole each find happiness. I especially loved all the covers for this series. They are enticing and romantic and I personally found them very attractive. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
A great finale book in this series - I hate to see all the characters go as they were all so likable & had great stories to tell. The couple in this final book were so special & so opposite but that is what made them so great together! I did wish in the end that we would have found out more about the coded love poem - I was hoping something mysterious would be answered or lead to a next book. I still gave this book 5 Stars because of the grumbling, scowling, growling viscount, Liam & the happy, sunny, beautiful, Rose. I highly recommend this entire series - all the books are easily read in a short time but longer than novella. I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.
A Wish Upon a Viscount by Maggie Dallen and Katherine Ann Madison is book 4 in the A Maypole in Mayfair series. The entire series has just been a delight to read. While the book can be read on it’s own, I would dive in and read the series. I think each book just adds to the next.
This story has close siblings, a masquerade party, spies, a book of poems, wishes around a maypole, a willingness to sacrifice oneself for family, and so much more. Enjoy! I received a free copy and have chosen to leave a review.
This is a quick, short, sweet read. Book 4 of the A Maypole in Mayfair series. You don't need to read the rest to read this one. BUT you should! They are all great! This one is about Liam Barrow, Viscount Thornton and Miss Rose Waterstone. They meet at a masquerade ball. Mistaken identity and misunderstandings follow. Rose just wants to find love and read poetry. Liam just wants to find the hidden message and leave. Highly recommend. It leaves you feeling happy.
I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.
This finishes out the series, with the last friend, Rose, getting her wish to come true. I didn't feel it was quite as solid as the first three, but still a greatly enjoyable cute little read. Rose wanted a book of poetry and she found the very one she wanted, tucked away in a secret spot like it was left just for her. Unfortunately, the very book she wished for happened to be the book that was used to hide a secret note. A nice little comedy of errors and misunderstandings abound, all centered around the book and the note written in code tucked inside, but eventually everything works out and Rose gets her book AND a viscount as well.
The fourth book in the a Maypole in Mayfair series a well written story that kept me turning pages. The story has a very good storyline and the story flowed smoothly across the pages. Miss Rose Waterstone and Liam the Viscount of Thornton's story they do not get off to a very good start. I found myself smiling as I read their story. I would recommend book this book and this series. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book 4, in the Maypole in Mayfair series and also my favorite story of the series.
Rose Waterstone is the fourth of the friends that made their wishes on the Maypole in the prologue, and we learn that she is also the most impoverished which explains why she only wished for a book of poetry. The other girls really love and cherish Rose and are eager to help her as friends do, but Rose hates the charity aspect. Wishing for a book of poetry seemed like a wish that could actually come true. Fast forward one month when Rose attends Sarah's house party and discovers a book of poetry wedged in a chair cushion. She believes it's meant for her... how could it not when there's even a handwritten love note tucked inside with her name on it.
Liam, the Viscount of Thornton is an intimidating man, always scowling and growling and surly. And when he figures out that Rose unknowingly intercepted a coded message for the crown tucked inside a book of Wordsworth poems, he confronts her. Rose is crushed when she realizes that the book wasn't meant for her, and the love note wasn't really a love note. But after sharing her silly wish with Liam, he understands how the mistake happened. He softens even more towards her after understanding her plight and wants her to have the poetry book to keep.
I really loved Rose in this story and she was the sunshine to Liam's grumpy. Rose knows she has to marry to save her family financially and although she didn't like the idea of marrying for money, she has accepted her fate and found love where she could... in poetry. This hits Liam hard so he shows her extra attention to try and help her make a advantageous match. But with two other would-be suitors competing for her attention, Liam quickly realizes that the best match for Rose might just be himself.
This was such a sweet story and I just loved it. If you haven't read book 3, the events in this book run concurrently with Sarah's romance but it is done well without repeating parts from book 3. You just have glimpses to tie in with the events that happen. I give this one 5 stars because it was the best of the series and it just checked all my boxes for wants in a romance story. This is a sweet read with kisses and embraces only.

Maggie Dallen is another name for Tammy Andresen or Katherine Ann Madison. I borrowed this book through Kindle Unlimited.
Rose and Liam's story is the last of the series A Maypole in Mayfair. A wish upon the Maypole, a special book of poetry, a romantic dreamer, a love letter or a secret coded message, marrying to save her family, humor, misunderstandings, agent for the crown, final mission, a grumbling, and scowling Viscount that learns to laugh and love. Rose makes a wish for a poetry book that she'd dearly love to have but can't afford. When she comes upon the book with a letter inside, she believes it is her wish come true. Liam has one mission to complete as an agent for the crown so he can retire from the work. He may grumble and frown a lot, but deep down, he's just a loveable, caring guy. He's supposed to get a message from a book of poetry but the message is not there. Will Liam find the message before he finds love? Will Rose's wish come true? A sweet story with wonderful characters. I received this book as an ARC. This is my honest review.
the dynamic gave aliciamatthew from ALOTC. typical grump x sunshine except its heightened hundred times. rose' smile could kill you with its brightness, meanwhile liam was irritated (turned on) by it and her around the clock. it was going so well til liam disclosed his mission to rose. that should've been the starting point of the plot. rose should've joined him on said mission and it should've been explored more. instead, he forgot about it completely and it conveniently got solved on its own. suddenly his mission became winning her over :( all the development went down the drain. it was all so insta. i blinked and it was over. ooc liam saddened me. maggie dallen specialises in writing mmc who turn a new leaf in the matter of minutes like they are bewitched and MUST make the girl they were despising two seconds ago, theirs. can't say i hate a down bad man but make it believable at least
Rose seemed the very opposite of the scowling viscount Liam. He did notice she did not seem put off by him but continued smiling in spite of his growling until she got the book of poetry she wished for with a love note to herself before Liam could get it for the Crown. When he met with her, she shocked him by accusing him of writing the love poetry to her; however, his attitude changed immediately when he realized the note lost into the lake, was the very note he was after. Oh, does he scandalize the party when he plunges into the lake after it! This last of the four Maypole wishes looks to be a failure as the book of poetry was not meant for Rose at all but was a plant by a spy! A fun book because you know with Dallen there is always a happy ending! Yet I am sad this recommended series ends here.
A Wish Upon A Viscount is a fun historical romance by Katherine Ann Madison and Maggie Dallen. Team Madison/Dallen have provided readers with an entertaining story appropriate for all ages. This historical romance is a quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Even though Liam has left the military when duty calls he agrees to obtain secret messages being passed at a masquerade. Rose unknowingly finds the message. Rose and Liam's story is packed with drama, humor and suspense. I enjoyed reading A Wish Upon A Viscount and look forward to my next read by these authors. This book is book 4 of the A Maypole in Mayfair Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A book of poetry, misunderstandings, and romance. Rose made her wish on the maypole for a book of poetry but what she gets is more than what she imagined. Rose is destined to marry to save her family but fate brings her the chance for more than the salvation of her family. This might be my favorite of the series, a little sad because Rose doesn't believe that she will ever have love but while the grumbling Viscount might be there to find a secret message he finds so much more. Such a sweet read with a grumpy viscount turned softy for the right girl.
Voluntarily read and reviewed an arc of this book.
Maggie Dallen is always a good read, and this book was no exception! It was so sweet, and I enjoyed the polar opposite personalities valuing each other! It was a shorter read than I was expecting, but it was a very solid story- with all the feels! If you’re looking for a quick read to make you smile and giggle, look no further! Rose and Liam are two hilarious characters (Rose the optimist, and Liam the pessimist). They complimented each other so well.
Also, the possessive thoughts of Liam…okaaaaaay. I was so here for it *snaps*.
Liam Barrow, is a somewhat grumpy Viscount. He is also a former agent for the Crown fulfilling one last mission. Rose Waterstone is a romantic, a dreamer. When she wanders to Ash’s library to take a break from the party, Rose is thrilled to find the very book of poetry she wished for at the May Pole. It seems this is the same book Liam seeks to complete his mission. Liam is convinced Rose stole the secret message from the book. She did, but she is not a spy, she thinks it’s a love letter. It is fun to watch them sort all this out. Amidst the arguing and misunderstandings, they began to fall for each other. This could be one more May Pole wish come true. A charming quick read and a wonderful couple. This is a perfect end to a lovely series.
I enjoyed this series so much. A Wish Upon a Viscount was a perfect ending. Throughout the series, Rose is billed as a fanciful, romantic dreamer. In this story, hers, you learn that Rose is the most practical woman of all, a woman who must marry well to save her family from ruin. But Rose is lured into one last, fanciful bit of hope, only to have it come crashing down, thanks to Liam, Viscount Thurston. He’s like a splash of water to the face, so why does Rose keep thinking about him?
This charming little I feel is jewel. I thought the the interesting story plot was very entertaining. It definitely helped with the pace of the book. I think that the drama that partakes in the book offered the story some realism to where the reader could relate closer to the book. The Charme very charming and whimsical. The mystery plot regarding searching for the book was a good touch. I thought that it brought out the much needed excitement among the couple. Rose I think is a charming woman with a heart of gold. Liam should have taken notice earlier in the book.
I liked that this book wrapped up this series so nicely and I did enjoy the story, but this book was my least favorite in the series. Since the mission and the missive was such an integral part of the story, I want to know more about it and I didn’t get it. I was disappointed in that regard. It is still a very sweet book, it just left me wanting more.
** I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. **

This is the last in the series and I think it has to be my favourite. All our girls have now had their maypole wishes come true. This one is a little sad as Rose thinks she is not good enough for someone to love and thinks she is destined to do her duty for the family. But as in all good HEA she finds her hero. These are all lovely quick reads that leave a smile on your face and just make your day better. . I received this as an ARC and freely give my review.
We come to the end of our Maypole wishes and this one was such a delight to read and immerse ourselves into the world of Rose and Liam. This story is all about love through the words of poets. Just a lovely read that will lift up your spirits. I wanted to find out more about Liam being a spy and what the poem meant but other than that this was a great book.
Rose is definitely a conundrum she is full of poetry but has a practical side! Liam is gruff, serious and rarely smiles! Talk about opposites! There is a lot in this one: A mission for the crown A love note misspelled Said love note is not for Rose Laughter and compassion from a man known for neither! Also a dunk in a dirty pond! If that doesn't get your attention well, lots of laughter and poetry in this one!! Of course a HEA!
He fell for her so fast it could have been super cheesy, insta love type- but this story was great- it was well written and even though he fell fast, it was deep and he worked through his feelings well enough that it wasn’t a quick insta love thing- I loved this series and when I need a fun, witty, quick and clean laugh out loud series I’ll be coming back to this one! Loved the friendships and sincere growth and connections of the characters
A sweet clean romance between Rose and Liam. Rose is a gentle kind person willing to sacrifice herself in marriage for her family. But a mix up in the library, a love note in a treasured book brought the couple together. I really enjoyed reading this. I have enjoyed the entire series and look forward to reading more from this author.
Love this story. Romance is elusive for Rose. Miss Rose Waterstone has no choice but to marry no matter how unsavoury the groom may be. Viscount of Thornton is a man on a mission and does not involve love or romance.
