Ten years ago, an infamous serial killer shook our small town in Arizona. Avalon and I were best friends on the brink of becoming more when violence tore through our lives and changed everything. One brutal event broke us.

I've been gone for a decade, but now I'm going back to our hometown to film a documentary about the horror that wrecked our blossoming romance. I'm dying to see Avalon again, but she wants nothing to do with me.

I don't blame her, but I want her.
I want her, even though I know I should stay away from her.

I could be dangerous.
I am my father's son, after all.

This dark romance book involves triggering elements that may be upsetting for some readers. A complete list of tropes and triggers can be found on the author's website.

Brynn Ford is a USA Today Bestselling Author of dark romance for daring readers. She writes emotionally heavy love stories that will twist your soul and shatter your heart before pulling you back together with a hopeful happily-ever-after.

Brynn's books are dark, sometimes disturbing, and often overwhelming. But they're always brightened by an insistent, spicy romance that will live rent-free in your head long after you've turned the final page.

When Brynn isn't obsessively writing, you may find her binge-watching favorite shows while eating far too much junk food or fanatically reading, always seeking to lose herself in the emotional roller coaster of a damn good story. She's a firm believer that her characters continue to live outside the pages in the minds of her readers. Stories don't end just because there aren't any more pages to turn.

This is my first read by this author and I was thoroughly impressed. I have been missing out on some good reads!

Avalon (love her name) and Andres were the best of friends growing up. They didn’t have much in way of money or family, but they always had each other. That was enough for the longest time. Until one night one of them makes a daring move that takes them out of the friendship zone and plants them into an entire new phase in their friendship. Both are ecstatic that it’s something they both want and are hopeful for what’s to come.

Something traumatic happens to Avalon and she’s trying to carefully pick up the pieces. While her best friend who also is dealing with it in his own way is right there by her side...until he isn’t. He leaves town to better himself and leaves her picking up the pieces of her broken heart. He left when she needed him the most. He was what was keeping her tethered and sane.

Fast forward ten years and Andres is back in town and needs Avalon’s help. She wants no part in what he’s doing though. He doesn’t want to force her, but feels like this might be the step she needs to help her overcome and take control of her life again. They will need to if they ever want to make their possible forever work.

I really enjoyed Avalon. She is strong and selfless. Her life wasn’t easy, but she wouldn’t crumble. Her growth through the book was nothing short of amazing.
Andres grew on me, got on my nerves and then settled nicely into my heart by the end of the book. My heart hurt for what they both had to deal with in their lives.

If you’re looking for a emotional and beautiful story, this one is for you!

I really loved the message the author tried to send us through this book...its okay to give your heart a second chance...there's always someone who will love you for who you are...
The first part of this book broke my heart...its just beautifully shown how a victim of a hideous act feels vulnerable and insecure about their safety.
I was not pleased with Andreas leaving...but that's what gives the book a reality edge...bad things happened in a row...
Now to the second part, it's filled with emotional yearning for the past...and Enemies to lovers element...
Loved the book...Definitely a book worth rereading.

**BETA/ARC REVIEW**

Oh how much I love beta'ing for Brynn...and she isn't getting rid of me anytime soon, either!
Jagged Line Paradise is a second chance, friends to enemies to lovers, with some dark elements book.

I very very very much enjoyed this story. Andres and Avalon were very well written characters. You almost want to even hate Andres at time for what he did following the extremely traumatizing event in Avalon's life...and you want to hug Avalon for all she went through.
"I left our hometown—a place she once called paradise—to flee the aftermath of that brutal event that broke us so completely. I left her behind to pick up the broken pieces of her soul that had shattered irreparably. And now, I'm going back to face the wreckage that I thought I'd put behind me—my father's gruesome legacy, the trauma of our past, and the girl who survived it all without me by her side." (portion of blurb for JLP)

It has some very triggering elements, so please be aware of this prior to reading, but I always hate listing the triggers because I feel like that gives away spoilers.

It has some VERY sexy sexy scenes...like Holy, Wow as Avalon would say!

It has elements and moments of making peace and healing.

It has moments of heartbreak, moments of shock and fear, moments of happiness and laughter...I think you truly experience all emotions within this story, and I highly recommend reading it!!!

Brynn Ford became one of my favorite authors when I read her Four Families trilogy last year. Ford does a phenomenal job at balancing dark tones with swoon worthy moments. Even this book isn’t as dark as her previous work there are some TW to consider before reading.

line

Star Rating : 4/5 Stars

POV : Dual

Cliffhanger : None

Hero : Andreas

Heroine : Avalon

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 6/10

Heat Rating : 7/10

Triggers Involved : Non Con , Torture scene

Plot Summary :
Avalon and Andres have known each other for ever. They have liked each other forever and now they can have it all. Until an unexpected monster years it all away. Avalon gets kidnapped and returns but not the same.

Things take a worse turn and Andres has to leave her in her worst time and he does that. But now he is back. And it's too late. She hates him with a passion he has never seen and he doesn't blame her. He never came back for her after leaving her at her worst. And now he wanted her help? There was no way she was giving in to him again after what he did. No matter how much he tries to persuade her.

Overall Opinion :
The one reason why I am so freaking crazy about this author is because of the way she plays with my goddamn emotions. One moment I was angry and sad whereas the other I was feeling loved.

I absolutely hated Andres in the first half of this book. His girl got her whole life destroyed and he just thought of himself and ran away. Then when he came back, he blamed it all on her and acted like an absolute ass without even realising for once how much she needed him. That was the one thing I has a tough time accepting. He was a but emotionless at times and so very selfish.

But things improved at a later time and I liked that. He had a nice character development and that was something which made me rate this book higher because God knows he needed it. The ending of this book was the best part for me. The book had its ups and downs but I loved the storyline and would definitely recommend it to all the contemporary second chance lovers out there. It has a trigger warning of containing a described scene of both physical and sexual abuse so please keep that in mind before picking up this book!

F@ck Yeah!! Is all I can think after finishing JLP. JLP is definitely dark but Avalon’s growth & freaking strength is so inspiring. I love how Lonnie & Andrés just get each other espresso how they know what each other needs. Andrés commitment to Lonnie after he returns to Sunrise Valley just shows how their souls are connected.

I think their ending is perfect! Chase all the sunsets to find your happy💓

Amazing book.

Avalon and Andres were best friends once and they kissed one night. Then a tragedy happened to Avalon and at the same time Andres left their hometown.

10 years later, Andres is back in town to film a documentary series about tragedies that happened in his hometown, the same tragedy that happened to Avalon. She doesn’t want to have anything to do with this documentary, but Andres is determined to show her she has nothing to be afraid of.

Andres and Avalon get closer again.

The book was fantastic, there were some triggering moments but overall it was great.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is everything I needed, wanted and more. Avalon and Andres have given us a story full of so many feels with some dark themes running through it. Their story isn’t for everyone but it’s definitely worth a read. This is a well written standalone that I inhaled in one afternoon.

I’m so looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

Back then, we were just a couple of dirt poor teenagers who had nothing except for our friendship. I wanted it to be more and one night I made my move. Everything was perfect then, but I wanted it to be more and one night I made my move. Everything was perfect then, but perfection is fleeting. For one brief shining moment, everything was beautiful, but an inconceivable nightmare sent us straight to hell...to depths from which we could never return. I left our hometown-a place she once called paradise-to flee the aftermath of that brutal even that broke us so completely I left her behind to pick up the broken pieces that had shattered irreparably. And now, I'm going back to face the wreckage that I though I'd put behind me-my father's gruesome legacy, the trauma of our past, and the girl who survived it all without me by her side. She hates me now for leaving her behind and I don't blame her. I don't blame her, but I want her. I want her, even though I know I should stay away from her. I could be dangerous. I am my father's son, after all

Oh my gosh this book moved me. Moved me in so many ways and I just loved it. I went into this blind and I didn't know what this book was about and I think that is the way to go. I should also warn you that this book has a few things in it that might trigger some people and you should proceed with caution. This is the story of Andrea and Avalon. Best friends who always watched the sunset every night and on one particular night they took it from friendship to something more which Avalon had been wanting for a while and wasn't sure had Andrea would feel about it. But, with all their happiness the next day something terrible happens and she is left damaged and scarred and needing her best friend who is leaving. He can't stay. He begs her to go with him and she just won't. Now time has passed and he is going back and is a different man but he is afraid to be who he is because after all he carries his fathers blood and is always afraid of losing control. I don't want to give things away about his book. I am having hard time writing this review and not saying to much. I loved these two characters. My heart broke for both of them and especially Avalon. Life was never good or easy for her and this poor girl suffers something terribly but has a heart of gold and she also does not use bad words which tickled me some of the expressions she would use. I will say this is a story of your life being totally torn apart for both characters. This is about healing and how things you didn't think you needed or wanted just might be the things that make you feel whole again. It is a beautiful story of survival and forgiveness and it is so amazing that you do not want to miss it at all.

Heartbreaking second chance love story!

This is a very emotional second chance love story between two people that struggled with surviving their demons while growing up in a small town. One escaped, the other struggles to survive while the darkness tries to consume her. It was a very heartbreaking story at times that gutted me and left me emotional drained. But then the story takes an uplifting turn, which filled me with love.

Avalon is dealt some nasty cards in her life. But she is a fierce warrior through it all and is able to try to claw her way through her demons in the best way she knows how. Her best friend Andres breaks her heart by leaving her when she needed him the most causing a rift between them. 10 years later and Andres is back in town wanting to reconnect. But are they too different now and has their past connection been severed?

I had a hard time liking Andres. When he was a teenager, he was sweet and loving but Avalon’s tragedy seems to have broke him. After 10 years he has become quite the ass and very selfish. He seems to put a lot of blame on Avalon without getting her side of the story. Once he learns the truth is he able to forgive and move on?

Wonderfully written story that will have your emotions all over the place, I know mine were! With two amazing characters and a storyline that guts you and then mends your heart, you will be riveted to your seat, captivated by their passion and love, and left with an ending to make your heart soar.

If you are looking for an emotional and beautiful story, this is the one!

ARC received from Candy Cane PR as being part of Brynn’s ARC team. Voluntarily reviewing and all opinions are objective and my own.

When Brynn Ford announced she was writing a contemporary second-chance, my first thought was, oh a sweeter read by the wonderful dark romance author. I wasn’t wrong per se, but I also wasn’t right! Of course her wonderful brain came up with the gritty, insane beginning it did.

After Avalon experienced something horrible and trauma-inducing, Andres left their small town to get away from it all. Years later, he’s back. Rich and wanting to make a documentary on the whole thing.

These two are fire! I felt their heartbreak, just like I felt their reunion. It’s hot, romantic and heartbreak all rolled into one wonderful book.

Why 4 stars instead of 5? I felt there was one part of Avalon’s job that was suggested, shown once, and then never brought up again. Similarly, the ex husband made an appearance, but never again. And while I sense it’s long been history, the fact that he’s still coming around drunk and Andres seems to brush it under the rug I found odd. Super great additions to the plot seemed to have a part but never touched on again.

“…the realization that finding happy –knowing that happy is with him—is unattainable…”

This is an emotional rollercoaster, the emotions you get form this book are completely overwhelming, first of I need to say that the trigger warnings Brynn mentions at the beginning, are there for a reason, if you think you need a TW then this is probably not the book for you…however if you think that despite the TW you want to live this book because lets be hones Brynn Ford gives her all to her stories, then you’re in for a treat.

Told in a dual POV, this book tells the story of Avalon and Andrés, how one moment of impact change everything in them; the years pass and they both decide in they own way to cope with the changes that the one day brought to them; don’t worry we get a beautiful happily ever after, but we need to climb the hill to get there and earn it.

Avalon and Andres have grown up with each other and it isn't till they are both 18 that they decide to take things further, They had one special moment together and the next day it is ripped away from them both when something unexpected happens to Avalon and she will never be the same again.
There are some dark and triggering moments in this book, however Brynn has written it really well. A decade later they reconnect when Andres returns to his old hometown and he reconnects with Avalon and after a few hurdles they try and put all their past mistakes behind them.

Jagged Line Paradise is a stand alone story, second chance romance who were once friends, then enemies and then found their way back to each other. I was quite angry at Andres through parts of this book, but I can understand why he felt he needed to leave. This is definitely worth the read...

The plot was pretty good and I loved the Arizona setting! I ultimately did not really like the MMC at all (other than at the very beginning of the book because I did like him as an 18-year-old). There was a lot of push and pull between the main characters with juvenile reactions that made it hard to stay invested in their relationship, especially because of Andrés. Some of the scenes didn’t really make sense to me because it felt like they were out of character for how I’d imagine the character to be feeling. This is also very much a “me” problem, but I have a really hard time mentally processing different or repetitive phrases or curse words. Lonnie said “holy wow,” or “oh my wow” a feeeeeew too many times for me.

Andres and Avalon's was beautifully tragic. Best friends who did everything together and always survived the storms cause they had each other until one magical night makes them want each other even more until all that shatters and Andres leaves behind the one person who needs him the most. I adored Avalon and her strength, she was a great heroine and Andres just couldn’t see past his own nose to see he was different then he thought he was. Loved this book

Let me preface this by saying that I love Brynn Fords writing and all of the books I read by her so far have been 5 star reads for me. And for the first part of the story I felt like this was going to be another solid 5 stars. Brynn’s writing just flows very easily and she knows how to tell the story in a way that keeps you glued to the pages. But not even that could make me be on board with this relationship. Andres was a self-centered, arrogant and judgmental asshole and Avalon deserved so much better. Especially after all that she had been through.

Though time and distance caused them to become estranged from one another. Lonnie and Andres’s love for one another still remained in their hearts, always beating only for each other. Even 10 years later!

Brynn Ford who is a new author to me, absolutely obliterated my heart only to put it back together again with this beautifully heartfelt and overly emotional story filled with angst, heartache, torment and love that is Jagged Line Paradise!

This truly beautiful and unique story is set up in two parts. The past and then 10 years later in the current present.
Told through a dual POV, Jagged Line Paradise tells the story of best friends Avalon ‘Lonnie’ Briar and Andres Hernandez aka 'Double A'. On her 18th Birthday, Lonnie finally comes clean with her feelings for Andres going from a kiss to a night of exploration. However the next day, Lonnie’s world is flipped upside down due to a tragic traumatic event. Which ends up leading to Andres leaving Lonnie behind in Sunrise Rise Valley to continue on with his studies and pursue his own life. All while letting her pick up the shattered pieces of her life alone.
Fast forward 10 years later where Andres returns home to film a documentary about the tragedy that Avalon survived. Upon the duo seeing each other, they slowly come to realise over time that their feelings for one another never really went away. But how can two broken people who never truly dealt with their demons and their past history come to be together. Especially when it brings out the worst in each other whenever they succumb to their feelings of lust and passion?

A truly whirlwind of a maze, this story had so much feeling and emotions pouring out of the pages at every turn. Whether it be from Lonnie, trying to live a life all while taking caring of herself, her ailing mother, trying to keep her inner demons at bay and at the same time trying to push Andres away after his reappearance 10 years later.
Or with Andres trying to do his job, at the same time controlling his feelings for Lonnie, so that his inner beast isn’t able to unleash itself and take control of himself and doing something he will regret.

With how Brynn wrote the characters, it made them seem so life like and real. The way she showed the struggles Lonnie goes through in the aftermath of the traumatic tragedy, with what she does to not necessarily get past it, but runaway and hide from it in her lifestyle and “work” she does.
It was definitely hard, painful and saddening to see Lonnie have to go through it all alone. But it was also amazing to see the journey she travels throughout the story to get to where she is by the end. Showing and proving that Lonnie doesn’t let it defeat her and realise that she’s actually stronger than she truly believes she is.
I loved how despite how much time and distance has past between Lonnie and Andres, Brynn made sure it wasn’t easy for them to jump into a HEA. Giving them a path to a journey that is full of bumps and hurdles to overcome to prove whether they are truly meant to be together. Despite Andres already not believing he is good enough or right for Lonnie.
Honestly from the very beginning to the very end, you could tell Brynn Ford poured her heart and soul into telling their story. With the proof being the characters and their journey that had me gripped on and hurtling down the dark abyss of this EPIC Second Chance Romance story!

HOLY WOW! Brynn Ford did an absolute killer job with writing this spectacularly beautiful story of Avalon and Andres. Safe to say she has won me over by this book alone. And for that I would definitely recommend checking Jagged Line Paradise, especially if you’re are new to Brynn! She will do you no wrong!

Holy wow! Dios Mio! I loved this book and the only way to sum it up is to use the characters sayings. I hadn’t read this author before and was very impressed as this was everything a good dark story should be. The main characters are well written and their development throughout the book is excellent. An emotional and heart breaking story about Avalon Briar and Andres Hernandez. This couple go to hell and back, both damaged and broken but their journey and healing process is worth all the pain and torment they go through. I was fully engrossed in they story even if it was hard to read at times.

Part One we hear that Avalon and Andres have been best fiends since he moved into the trailer park aged ten. They have both had a hard childhood with little money or love and are surrounded by criminals and drugs. Their friendship is everything to them so they are both worried when feelings start to get involved. He has a reputation but he is such a good friend that she is not afraid of him like everyone else, even though she has had heard the rumours about his sexual kinks. They meet every evening up at the bluff to watch the sunset and Avalon sees this as her paradise.

“I thought it was the place, the bluff, the clots painted over the jagged lines of the mountains that made my jagged line paradise.”

On her eighteenth they finally give into their feelings and are happy to find out it is something they both want. Their wonderful moment is the catalyst that leads to a horrific and traumatic event happening to Avalon, and in a twist of fate it also involves Andres. She is trying to cope with what she has been through when he announces he leaving. It was always his plan but she didn’t think he’d actually go after everything. He is desperate to better himself and get away from the stigma of who he is but it breaks Avalon’s heart. I was very cross with Andres but could understand his decision. He didn’t want to leave without her but she couldn’t go and he couldn't stay.

Part Two is ten years later and we find out what the pair have been doing. Due to a documentary Andres is making for his company, he returns home for the first time. He hurt and shattered her when he left but the feelings come to the surface the moment she sees him. Both are confused and amazed how drawn they still are to each other. She doesn’t want anything to do with his film but he thinks it will help her. The story is intense just like Andres and complex like Avalon. They both have ghosts that haunt them but find when they together they forget and find some peace.

Avalon was amazing, an absolute heroine throughout the book. She goes through so much and
shows such strength and resilience. I loved the analogy of her depression as spiders inside her mind, spinning webs of darkness. I felt sad when she thought she didn’t deserve him but pleased when she accepts she needed him more than either of them realised.

Andres was an interesting teenager who adored his best friend. Then he made the biggest mistake of his life but it was the best for him at the time. He now fighting demons and constantly worried
he has a beast inside him that makes him like his dad? He concerned he can’t control himself with Avalon but realises they need each other to move forward.

“I made a mistake walking away from you the first time, and I’ll be dammed if I let you make the same mistake with me.’

There are some triggers so beware but the scenes are all in keeping with the book. When they realise they love each other I cheered but what that love meant and how it helped over the years was a revelation. The author takes the reader through the emotional wringer and gives us an inspirational story which is extremely moving. Totally recommend this beautiful book.

The author at the end of the book explains she is a firm believer that her characters continue to live on outside the pages in the minds of her readers. Her characters’ stories don’t end at the last chapter. Stories don’t end just because there aren’t any more pages to turn. Andres and Avalon’s
struggle will continue as they find their happiness and peace but they have hope that it will get better every day because they are both survivors.

Jagged Line Paradise by Brynn Ford is an angsty romance that revolve around tragedies of humanity, heartbreak and healing through true love. It was at times difficult and raw but you can also see the light of hope and resurrection.

Avalon and Andrés were best friends in a life full of poverty, abusive parents and having nothing but their mutual love. The day they first crossed the line of friendship to something else was also the darkest day of their life. Avalon's life got torn into pieces. And Andrés had to leave her because he couldn't let the opportunity to be something in future. But Avalon's trauma haunted him and so he built a successful charity to help survivors every way possible. And he is back to his hometown to make a documentary about the crimes related to Avalon and other families. Avalon doesn't want anything to do with him. What will two people with so many broken pieces do?

Read the blurb and heed the trigger warning. Avalon's trauma was vicious and isn't easy to read. I was just so sad and heartbroken to see a sweet and nice girl like her getting burnt and becoming this angry, bitter, depressed and self loathing woman. Life hasn't been kind to her at all and that was an understatement. I think she will be judged a bit for her choices later but she really didn't have any option. It was an interesting take on effect of her trauma. On one side she feels worthless and incomplete. On the other hand she craves depravity and intense moments to forget her pain. I am not sure how to feel about Andrés. I do get why he left but I didn't like how he was pushing her to take part in the documentary after coming back after so many years. Again intriguing shades in his character..a man who is afraid to become a monster has some really deviant ways! The chemistry was hot. Insanely so. I was a bit confused about the emotional process. Some were not making sense to me and I felt those could have been handled in a better way. I was not feeling the connection as the story was sometimes too slow and sometimes too fast.

Brynn Ford delivered a fascinating and intense romance in Jagged Line Paradise that will take you on a topsy turvy journey.

Oh I am absolutely floored! I'm speechless!....

Brynn Ford just doesn't write books she brings me to places within myself I never ever knew I needed to experience and resolve what I couldn't even acknowledge existed. This book ( as the others I have read) is not a story that will be an easy read. Nor should it be considering the topics. Two best friends living in a poverty stricken trailer Park and where, after time, fall in love or recognize that they're in love. The title is poignant btw. On Lonny's 18th birthday is where this story takes a dark turn. It eventually leads to Andres and her going separate ways then their story picks up 10 years later. Both of them broken by the horrific event of her and his past. I'm so drawn to them because it may not be the same circumstances but the story takes us on a very hard and long Journey to places where healing is almost unattainable! It also takes me to understand that sometimes the crap keeps piling up and I have wondered why is this happening to me? Am I that bad a person? All the feelings Lonny feels and Andres feels because he's so desperate to heal her and find that youthful love they once had. This is about trauma and pain. It's has amazing hot and steamy scenes but mostly its about these two making more mistakes but never giving up. I am stunned at how much I am moved emotionally by this book. Brynn flawlessly writes this story with the description of every detail and I swear she's done her homework on how as victims of violent crimes make a journey for years and try and come out on the other side. It's not an easy read but her books usually aren't which is why I devour her books. Read her trigger warnings which she makes available so no complaints on how dark this is please! It's seriously one if the best books I have read ! I recommend it highly! Thank you Brynn for helping me and others on this journey back from the dead to the living💔💖💖😍

Andrés and Avalon grew up together in a trailer park and eventually became best friends. On her eighteenth birthday, they declare their feelings for one another and promise to meet the next day at their usual spot but obviously it will feel different for the two. It won’t just be double A meeting up as usual but Lonnie and Andrés...potential couple.

The next morning, Avalon began her day with her normal routine and even received a sweet text from Andrés. Everything was falling into place. What happened next, was something she never expected.

Avalon goes through an extremely traumatic experience. Unfortunately, once she’s safe and recovering back in Andrés arms, he unleashes something else that breaks her heart.

The two go an entire decade apart. In different states. However, Andrés goes back to Paradise Park and although his intention is to film a documentary that spotlights the girls who went through the same ordeal as Avalon, he knew he would see her once again. Apart but never forgotten, Andrés has never been in a solid relationship with other women. He preferred FWB situations. Only ever reserving that part of him for Avalon.

Avalon resists and is incredibly angry when she sees Andrés again after so long. He left her so why would she want him in her life again. The two have both gone through some things apart and eventually rely on one another for healing. Emotionally and physically.

Their love went through a lot of lows but came out on a high. I adored their chemistry and also...Andrés got this dark side to his sex beast that had my toes curling. Literally. That’s never happened before. Who freakin reads a book and has their toes curl while reading certain parts? Me...that’s who.

Thank you @candikanepr for the eARC

A dark romance about a serial killer survivor, the serial killer's son, and their romantic entanglement?

It sounded dark, intriguing, and potentially a beautiful, heartbreaking story.

Unfortunately, I did not love it.

What I Loved
• For the most part, I loved the plot. It was a really profound concept that I was enthralled with from the get-go. I was worried it was going to be a bit too dark and graphic for my taste, and although it is definitely dark and graphic, I did not get the icks while reading it. Please do check trigger warnings, though.

• Avalon. I absolutely loved her character. She was so broken yet so strong, and I loved seeing her come into her own and realize the potential she has. I felt the author wrote her beautifully.

What I Did Not Love
• Andres. Ugh, he made me so frustrated and upset for Avalon. I will say 18 year old Andres was my favorite. I could even understand him leaving, although I felt for Avalon when he did. He was in a bad situation, a bad headspace, and was only a child. He needed to find his happy. However, adult Andres was a total tool. His only concern seemed to be his own sexual desires, but he refused to talk it out. He assumed way too much and had the audacity to call Avalon selfish when she didn't want to do the documentary.

• The sex. Eesh, one scene did give me the ick. It felt really one-sided and uncomfortable. Not for me.

Overall, it was something different for me, and I did read it in one sitting. There were some really profound moments, but I didn't walk away completely satisfied.

Where do I even begin?

This book had me going through a rollercoaster of emotions. One minute I was just swooning and then I was gasping in shock. Eventually, I was raging and wanted to throw hands. Lastly, I just felt so much peace and love. This story held me captive and is truly an amazing story. The plot of the story was very well executed. The characters had so much growth. I just really enjoyed it.

In a small town in Arizona, two best friends are hit with tragedy and darkness and one feels like they must leave while the other wants to stay. It isn’t until a decade later that they see each other again and one is determined to stay away while the other wants nothing more than to be by their side.

Avalon has to be one of my favorite characters ever written. She is truly broken at the beginning of this story and by the very end, she has grown so much. Her character is truly special.

Andrés had me feeling all kinds of emotions. At the very beginning of the story, I loved him. After the awful traumatic event, I hated him. Even when he showed back up, I hated him. His inner thoughts made me want to throw something at him. Eventually, as the book went on, I started to like him again. I do think his character grew a lot by the end of the book and I really loved that.

This book is truly so good. You get to witness a tragedy turn into something special. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel. If you want something emotional and dark definitely check this one out.

Wow, this book was tough. This is the first book I've read by Brynn Ford and I was kind of blown away.

Jagged Line Paradise is told in two parts -- 10 years ago and then the present, when Andres returns to their small desert town a decade after a traumatic event turned Avalon's upside down and he took off. Everything was perfect and sweet the night of her 18th birthday, and then it all fell apart the next morning. While Avalon was afraid to leave their hometown afterwards, Andres felt like he had no choice other than to leave town afterwards. They never spoke again, until 10 years later when he comes back home to make a documentary about the tragedy that hit their small town.

Avalon felt like she was deserted when she needed Andres the most. He felt like there was no way they could build a life together with the reputation that was following him. Their reunion doesn't go well at first, but eventually these two figure out how to bury the demons between them and realize that their love for the other never faded.

It's not an easy book to read, and there is a lot of angry sex involved, so beware if that isn't your thing. But at it's core, Jagged Line Paradise is all about finding beauty and strength, that our scars are badges of honor, and that peace and paradise can be a person, not a place.

This emotional story is full of angst, but a beautiful one about healing and hope! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
