Emmaline Presley just wants to find love, while everyone around her scrambles to find her a kidney.
Unfortunately, spending her days at the Dialysis Treatment Center of Austin hooked up to an artificial blood filter has considerably tanked her chances of ever meeting Mr. Right. But things start to look up when a boy from Mississippi messages her on Twitter. Turns out, this heartthrob is a match in more ways than one.
Told in two points of view with unique voices that are both ingenious and downright hilarious, this story will leave you searching for Big Greats and Happy Endings of your own.
★★★★ Definitely a four star. It's an underrated book and not many know about it but I would like to draw people's attention to this book, not only was it romantic, emotional and moral but also knowledgeable. It was sweet and just the perfect way it had been written had my heart taken. Not sure if I like the ending? Should have been told more about their life after but... Will definitely recommend to others.
“The hardest times generally produce the greatest lessons.”
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."
"i have come to accept that some people appear in your life just when you need them the most, and it’s fucking grander than walking up on a stage and stirring a crowd.”
"our life consists of a series of choices and consequences which produce an infinite number of outcomes"
"Life is made up of sobs, sniffles and smiles, with sniffles predominating."
"There are times when you can literally feel shit getting serious, when the space around you takes on a certain uncomfortable edge"
"We don’t always have control over what happens to us in this life, but we do, generally, always have a choice as to how we move forward."
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
It's about depression and anxiety and other serious topics, but it never gets weighed down, even when things get serious. It takes a serious look at these issues and doesn't gloss over how tough they can be, but they're handled with humor and optimism. It's a story, not just about how love can help us be the best versions of ourselves, but how real love can help us through dark times.
No one gets "cured" of their depression or anxiety in this book, and they shouldn't. Depression and anxiety are often lifelong struggles. The trick is to find things that bring us purpose and meaning, and help us to live our best lives.
This book is sweet and uplifting, but also dark and serious and sad. Want all the feels? Read this book.
Wow, what an emotional rollercoaster! The sweetest beginning, an emotional middle, and a beautiful ending. I loved this book and the story of Emmaline and Andrew so much! ❤️
This book started out as an episode story and that’s when I got hooked. When I heard Jenny was coming out with a hard copy of this story I completely disregarded the story because everyone on episode knows that the hardcover books are better then the stories on episode. This Big Great did not disappoint it was a mix of a coming of age story and some education about mental and physical illness. I was skeptical of the writing type when I first received the book because Ms. Jenny is a new writer but this book was beautifully written!
Omgash thia book has my heart still even tho its been months since I have finished it. Their love is so cute. The fact that Andrew is willingly giving a kidney to a girl he just met just speaks enough volume to me. It was love at first message in my eyes. Their ending the last few chapters broke my heart. Andrews pain and Emmaline's pain i could feel it, it broke my heart. Their ending was the best ending i have ever read🥺 exactly the happy ending emmaline dreamed of and i think thats so wonderfull💕 seeing them both happy made me happy. I did missed the spice but I can understand why it isnt in the book. I also missed like a future epilougue i dont know if it will be ever but for now i will imangin it. The writting is so amazing too i love her writing style!

This witty, heartfelt novel follows Emmaline Presley, a young woman balancing life on dialysis with the search for love. When a charming boy from Mississippi slides into her Twitter DMs and just happens to be a kidney match her world shifts in unexpected, hilarious, and hopeful ways. Told in two unforgettable voices, it’s a laugh-out-loud, tender story about resilience, romance, and finding your own happy ending.
I first read the big great on episode interactive app. It truly brought this book to life for me. I really hope there will be more one day! It was absolutely amazinf
Emmaline and Andrews story is beautiful, heartbreaking, and so real. As soon as I purchased the book I couldn't stop reading! I loved the layout of the story and how it wax written! Definitely recommended!!!!
This book was amazing. It spoke of mental health so openly: it was brutal and harsh, but truthful. It was heartbreaking in the best way possible and I hope to find a love like Andrew and Emmaline's :)
this is a hidden gem. I got all of the emotions from this book. tears, smiles, butterflies, ALL OF THE FEELS. It’s such a heart warming story, and the relationship they have is soooo … swoon ;) 💕 (if you know, you know) DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!! pick up now. like actually.
Lol so I was done writing a detailed review and it erased on me. But let’s try this again. There were two dominant thoughts that pretty much summed up my feelings while reading this book. The first being, “Swooooooon” because Emmaline and Andrew’s story gave my heart and my stomach all the butterflies in the WORLD. Have you ever read a book and just thought, “huh, so this is what love is.” This book gave me ALL THE FEELS. Where can I find my own Andrew? I want one!
You want to squeal with happiness while reading this because your heart can’t take all the cute moments? This is the book for you! But don’t let it fool you. It will also break your heart into tiny bits and pieces.
The second thought while reading this book was, “JUST TEAR MY HEART OUT ALREADY.” I was a bawling mess during the second half of the book. Like, finished a box of tissues type of mess.
Moving on from my dramatic moment, without giving too much away, Emmaline Presley is sadly sick. Her kidneys are at a point where they are giving up and she needs a transplant. Only time is running out now that she is in her fifth year of waiting for a donor. Who would’ve thought that liking a tweet would have led to her finding her Big Great, Andrew Elders. To sum up Andrew’s life in one word, it would be grey. Not too dark but still difficult to find the light. His head is full of noise he wishes he could just shut off. But maybe Sweet Emmaline will be the one to bring him peace and quiet.
I loved this book so much. I will definitely read it again and again. I cannot wait to find my Big Great. If you are, for some reason, hesitant on reading this book, don’t be! Give it a read. You will not regret it.

So so amazing! Literally read the whole book in 24 hours (the first time I read this before tracking on Goodreads). The characters are so endearing, and the story is super enticing you have to keep reading! I laughed and cried throughout the whole thing. I will definitely be reading this again and again.
the book that really got me into reading to begin with. i’ll never forget this book, as it was one that tugged at my heart strings and then fixed them so beautifully. jenny peterson, you’ve done it. you’ve created a wonderful book that hurt and healed me.
