When Doubt Creeps In.
Harry and Mike are partners in law enforcement and friends. They are working on a case together.
Whatever can go wrong for these partners, does. It's a test of loyalty and friendship.
Of course the star of the book is Honey, I hope to see her in more books as I read my way through this series.
If you're looking for a book with crime, adventure, greed, deception, the mob, the author has it covered.
Lots of suspense, and surprises, snappy short chapters to keep you turning the page.
Great read, I look forward to reading more books by LC Hayden.

Retired Harry Bronson gets worried about his best friend and ex-partner when he stops returning his calls. Then his ex-wife tells him that Mike told her that he was working on getting them some quick money so he could retire, and they could get remarried. The last thing that edged in the doubt was when he found out that Mike’s partner had been killed and the gun used was Mike’s.
Harry continued to reach out to Mike to offer his support and get rid of the doubts that overtook his mind, but Mike was sure making it hard to do so. He decided to fly to Arizona and track him down. He had to get rid of the doubts that Mike had gone rogue, and the story begins.

What did I like? This book sure held my attention; it was exciting and never had a dull moment. I have loved Harry’s adventures and knew this would be filled with more of his escapades, and it did not let me down.
What will you like? Wow, exciting, murder, killers, gangs, stolen statues, ruthless gang, and answers to the doubts. The characters are incredible with so much going on, and the storyline is masterful with just the right amount of fear, doubt, loyalty, and regret. When Bronson repeatedly calls his old pal, Mike doesn’t answer. None of this adds up. Mike loves his wife, but even she doesn’t understand what’s happening. And what do Egyptian statues have to do with the Mexican cartel? Could Mike have gone over to the cartel? It sure looks that way.
Bronson needs to find out if it’s true. As he and his dog, Honey, follow Mike’s trail, it doesn’t look good for his former partner. But whatever Mike’s into, Bronson needs to follow this to the very end, maybe his own.
WHEN DOUBT CREEPS IN ratchets up the twisty action and doesn’t let go. The characters are well-developed, and the action is believable. Bronson has an old-fashioned sense of loyalty and duty, a feistiness that makes him interesting, a great sense of humor, and a propensity for saying “Sheee-it” when he’s in trouble. And that’s what makes this such a page-turner—Bronson is always in trouble, and for the best of reasons. I’d follow him anywhere.

WHEN DOUBT CREEPS IN, Book Six in the Harry Bronson Mystery Series is the first book I have read, if memory serves, by L.C. Hayden.
I am often leery when it comes to diving headfirst into a book that is set towards the middle or the end of a series, conjuring up questions like: What have I missed up to this point? Is it pertinent to my understanding to read them in order?
I can honestly say, after reading this book, that I preferred to go into it completely unaware of the characters and their back story, especially when questionable doubt of one’s innocence or guilt jockeyed for poll position in the forefront of my mind, which served nicely to amp up the tension in the first half of the book.
Though how the second half of the book played out felt a little meh in parts, overall, I enjoyed the story and look forward to diving into Book One, WHY CASEY HAD TO DIE.
Also, I absolutely love Bronson’s dog, Honey—More, Please!

Harry and Mike had once been partners in the police force. Harry considers his former partner Mike his best friend and a down the middle kind of man. But now he has killed his new partner and became a member of smuggling gang that is sealing stolen antique artefacts. There is so much double crossing, twists and turns. How can Harry trust . Brilliant plot.
Loved the narration of Kyle Snyder, who brought out the action, twists and the suspense. You could feel the characters emotions.

I am a big fan of crime, mystery and thriller novels. This one sure did keep me on my toes. Harry Bronson, a retired police detective, drops everything to go help his ex-partner and best friend. With the help of his new dog, Honey, they manage to get into lots of trouble. In the end they were able to untangle the mess.
I especially loved the “shee-it” expletive when Bronson got into trouble.
I am looking forward to reading more of the series.

Although helping a friend is an admirable trait, retired homicide detective Harry Bronson finds himself in deep trouble when he acts on his intent to help out his former partner at the request of Mike's ex-wife.
What follows includes lots of gunplay and killing, not something I normally enjoy imagining or reading about. Making it even more difficult are the numerous editing errors (or should we say uncorrected errors) that made me want to pull out a red pencil and mark them up.

I listened to the audio version of this book and really enjoyed it. I actually hadn't read previous books in the series, but I was drawn into the characters immediately. Bronson and Mike are such a great duo and we really see their relationship put to the test in this book. This series offers a nice mix of action, humor, and heart. I definitely recommend it!

This is the first Harry Bronson novel I've read by LC Hayden, and I really enjoyed it. Lots of twists and thrills. I particularly appreciated his undercover stint in New Mexico, which was authentic. It wasn't necessary to have read earlier books in the series, but I'll be checking them out.

Enjoyed this book very much. I like the Bronson/Mike team. However, in this book Mike becomes unpredictable and never really redeems himself. It's good to have a book that is not "happy ever after."

Awesome! This mystery pulled me in right from the first chapter. Loved it! Harry Bronson is a well-developed character who mystery fans will love right from the start.

In the sixth installment of this ongoing thriller series, retired Harry Bronson, who considers former partner Mike Hoover his best friend and a solid guy, is called upon by Mike’s ex-wife to figure out what is going on with him because she’s worried he might be mixed up in something fishy. Going undercover as an antique dealer of museum artifacts, Bronson enters into the underbelly of New Mexico as a liaison for a big smuggling gang. What he discovers takes all his instincts and prior law enforcement training to unveil the crimes being committed and to let justice prevail. And, of course, his dog, Honey, is one helpful ally. Hayden’s attention to detail carries this well-written, roller-coaster-of-a-book book to its satisfying conclusion.
