Sand Sea (沙海/Shā Hǎi) is the second sequel of the main novel series Daomu Biji. The series remains unfinished but a television adaptation was created in 2018 with the same name.
Synopsis: Ordinary high school student, Li Cu, gets involved in the world of grave-robbing when a clue to a tomb is carved onto his back. Meanwhile, Wu Xie has finally conquered his innocence and has declared war on the fate that was set thousands of years ago.
So that kid gets dragged into the story by now gangster Wu Xie. There is no Iron Triangle as Fatty is "retired" and Qilin is past the Bronze Door. The main story arc is not finished so I found it frustrating not to know exactly what happens to the protagonists...
We also learn about Wu Xie's plan to fight back "it". Again, his plan is amazing but we don't see the fruition of it.
This book is actually very sad for me since the Iron Triangle is not together and Wu Xie is suffering all alone, though he chose to bear with it since he is waiting for Xiao Ge and wants to solve all the threats toward everything he cares and also to protect the legacy of the Mystic Nine. Also I pity Li Cu for being dragged to this mess all because he indirectly got involved in the situation, this situation really changed him a lot and he also lost his father.
