Lycan fated mates— divided by beliefs, united by desire, at the mercy of a culling —are the only hope of turning the tides of a genocidal war
Prophecy and destiny plunged the Lycan race into war and devastation. Facing genocide, a rebellion is born… and hemorrhages lives with every devastating Council blow. Belaize, ruthless, callous, wicked, assassinates in the name of the Council. He’s a deadly weapon aiding their attempts to exterminate all those who dare choose love over law. Eliana, kind, cool headed, smart, stands next in line to lead the tattered rebellion against the Council. It’s a losing battle, but she’ll fight to the death. When these titans clash, they’ll discover the awful truth; they’re bound by destiny… to be mates. With a rebellion raging, a sinister evil hides in the shadows of chaos, waiting to bring all werewolves to their knees before wiping them out from their nation.

🖤 Wolves, gods, mates, a prophecy leading to civil war 🖤 Fantastic world building 🖤 Badass / strong characters 🖤 Every chapter has an objective - no pointless monologues and descriptions 🖤 Multiple POVs - gets you the chance to see the story from both the good and bad guy’s angle 🖤 I am at 65% so just wanted to say NOT HYPING UP. Drop whatever you are doing and get this book. 🖤 Will be back with more when I am done 🖤 For now, I am rating it an A plus! I doubt that will change
An amazing debut Novel! I was lucky enough to have been gifted a copy of this in return for an honest review and I loved it. The characters and world building were on point and it was so easy to just immerse myself in the world and be in the moment with some of these characters. It's written from the point of view of several characters and the action started pretty much from the onset. I have a feeling this is the beginning of a great series and I can't wait to read the next one.
Not my usual genre but I was totally sucked into this world!
The writing was wonderful and the world built was so imaginative and impressive- I cannot wait for the next instalment, I definitely feel that there's more to come from Janus.
Only gripe is just a little grammar and spelling here and there was off but for a self published book that aspect could have been a whole lot worse!
I have read lots of fantasy/supernatural books over the years, but have always stayed away from ones which focus on Lycans/werewolves as they have never really interested me. However, I'm sooo glad I put that aside when given the opportunity to do a book tour by @instabooktours and @i.s.knight Lycus is the first book in a series of seven and the debut novel by authors ......... and what a book it was. It is a multiple pov with a very varied group of characters which covered the good the bad and the evil! The world building was deep and rich, making you believe you were there as everything unfolded. The first 100 pages where a little bit slower, but thats to be expected for backgrounds to be established, especially when it will be an epic series. After that I flew through the book and finished in 2 sittings! The plot flew easily and the pace was spot on between story and action. There are trigger warnings for the book including lots of gore (personally I didn't find it that bad 🙈), but please be aware if thats an issue. All in all an excellent debut book, and truly can't wait for the sequel.
This is definitely a fantasy book that I didn’t see coming. It was a great read and different from what I normally read about werewolves. It wasn’t all focus on sex and mating, which I thought was great.
It had the right amount of smut and then it was all werewolf based with drama and fighting.
I loved the multiple POV’s throughout the book, giving different characters there say and seeing it from their point. I love the effect it has on the book.
It’s a very busy book with the drama and what is going on throughout sometimes it was hard to keep track of the characters and what was going but I still enjoyed the book and can’t wait for book 2!
Firstly, I wanna say that this is my first time reading a dark fantasy and after reading this book, I can definitely say that I completely liked it and have developed a taste for it. So if you're like me, who hasn't read it ever, do give this book a try because this book will definitely make you want to explore this genre.
The thing I loved about the book is that it is just so pure. Meaning if the blurb says it's about war, then it is about it and they have showed the complete reality of a war but again, the book ain't just about war, it's also the politics and things revolving around it, like personal agendas of people. The fantasy world created for this is just absolutely breathtaking. There are also hidden meanings to some things that you know when you catch onto, you'll be like "Wow, that's awesome!"
The book also follows enemies to lovers trope, which just spices up the things and enhances the plot. The characters have so much depth to them, it actually makes you relate to some. It also has such good and thrilling plot that it will just keep you glued to your seat.
The book has a nice bad boy character that almost all girls fall for, but there is also a good boy for the girls who play it safe. And it also has this amazing strong-willed girl character, who ain't a damsel in distress for sure!
While reading the book, there were just so many topics that made me see somethings from a whole new perspective. This book is a must read from my side! If you haven't read this genre, this book is a perfect start and if you have already, then you surely don't wanna miss out this amazing book!
Firstly a note to any reader who loves dark fantasy - Go Buy this book now!
I must admit, I had high hopes for this book and it exceeded every expectation. LYCUS Is described as “a tale of love, betrayal and war” and it does not disappoint.
From the first page you are plunged straight into a world of political unrest where a prophecy threatens to destroy Vascya. The prophecy is the driving force for change as the council declare a war on Mates. Having a Mate was once seen in Vascya as a blessing, now it was more of a curse.
The book has multiple POVS’s from council members, rebels, warriors and victims. Each POV links together, creating a stunning but shocking story. The story is quite easy to follow, especially for a dark fantasy.
Both the character and world building is immense. The characters are carefully thought out, each with different personalities, relationships and stories. They compliment the story. The world building is simple but you feel fully emerged in the nation of Vasyca and the Lycan race.
My favourite part of this book is the amount of plot twists that are at times unpredictable and have shock factor. The ending is also very satisfying. It left me craving more, especially with the epilogue.
LYCUS managed to get me out a reading slump and introduced me to a different kind of fantasy. I devoured the book in two day and it is already on my re-read list. I cannot wait for Book 2!
Lycus was my first fantasy read in literally years and I REALLY enjoyed it!
It's so difficult for a new fantasy novel to create a new world that is familiar for fantasy lovers without being the same as others, while also not being so far out of the scope that it's hard to be immersed in the world. I & S have done a fantastic job to do this with their debut. It feels familiar but new, coupled with being very well written and imaginative names of people and places.
This is multiple POV and we see chapters from several different characters through the book, but each is important to the build of the story. Nothing is inconsequential and we find that out as we continue through.
But what is so impressive is that I still felt connected to the characters, even though we hear from a number of character perspectives. To the point that I had tears at times!
The plot itself is laid out from the beginning making it fairly clear what the centre of the story focuses on, but that doesn't mean there isn't a few twists and turns along the way. It's action-packed, with scenes I could already imagine being perfect for the big screen.
I'm looking forward to reading more in this world already.
This is a story of Lycans and a prophecy that could destroy all they hold dear. When the prophecy is brought to light, a war of catastrophic proportions takes place. Any fated mate that is found will be put to death.
This story was hard for me to get into at first. There is so much going on and so many deaths that its hard to find the main story. After I got used to the authors writing I was able to follow a bit better and get into the main portion of the book. I liked the action and it was nonstop. I did have a hard time connecting with some the characters and others I disliked immensely. I wasn't sure who I could trust and the twists and turns in the book kept pace with the story. I enjoyed the romance portion of the book and was a bit surprised by it. If you enjoy political intrigue but with Lycans, you will love this story. I give it 4 stars.
Wow, I.S. Knight creates an amazing world and unique characters! I stepped into a completely new world with Lycus: The Prophecy of Annihilation! I truly enjoyed experiencing the story through multiple perspectives even from the thoughts of the morally grey Lycans. Every chapter is so suspenseful and thrilling, and my hunger to know more about each character grew! That is a big part of what drives the story for me.
Yet, I feel like this is a cliche saying, but I sincerely have not read anything quite like this book. The imagery and the depiction of every moment is so incredibly vivid on each page.
If you enjoy books about mates or Lycans/werewolves, I highly recommend Lycus!
Please note Lycus uses amazing imagery, so I caution this story is not for the faint of heart.
Thank you to NBBTOURS and IS Knight for the opportunity to review this amazing book!
Oh my god people!! If you are into darker fantasy that is brutal and violent but oh so good!
Please check the trigger warnings before reading this though!
This fast paced, enemies to lovers, fated mates fantasy novel is just so good. I could hardly put it down! It portrays werewolves in a way I have never seen before which was so refreshing. This book is laced with betrayal, switching of loyalties and people scarred from war.
I usualy am not a big fan of multiple povs or more than 2 different povs but with this book it made perfect sense and really helped the reader understand what was going on. All the characters were super interesting to read about, even the bad guys. Although it does take a bit for you to realise who the real bad guys are.
All in all, I really enjoyed this book and can not wait to see where this story goes in the next book!
Wow.....this book has blown my mind... I absolutely loved it! It might have taken awhile to get too me but I couldn't stop reading it, was well worth the wait!
The world that the author has created is so easy to get to grips with (there is also a map... which I love!) , it is described to perfection so you can imagine every inch of it. The characters that feature in this book , although I couldn't relate fully to them they had great depth, I could feel myself being on Eliana's side through everything , she is a brilliant , strong willed character.
This book has a bit of everything that a dark fantasy novel should have! It has so much to grip you and keep you , when this book says it is about war.... it really means it ! It is jam packed with action , stand out characters , an amazing storyline. I can't wait to read the next in this series!
Wow! This book is a first in a brand new series and I can not wait for the second. The details that have gone into this is incredible. You have a map 😍 also a pronunciation guide 😍 Every chapter has a symbol of two wolves joining together, with every chapter, it is a different character. I really enjoy different points of views, sometimes there is a lot going on in this. The front cover is stunning too. The storyline is remarkable, straight away I was hooked. It was full of action, there were a few surprises and definitely not for the faint hearted. This book is aimed for the older readers, there is a trigger warning page right at the beginning.
Lycus was a book that kept me at the edge of my seat, wanting to know what happened next. The author was not restricted on character development which was nice to see because many don't improve their characters throughout the book. The author was not afraid to kill off any characters either, no matter how big or small their importance was.
If you are into dark fantasy, or werewolves, this is the book for you. It's a beautiful mix of Harry Potter, Grave Mercy and Michael Vey wrapped into one book.
So I had a certain amount of time to read this book and thought nope, it's 400 odd pages, I'm not in any sort of mood at the minute to commit to a big book. Well. Eating my words massively. I couldn't put it down. I ground it as enticing and engaging as ACOTAR. Mysterious lands and world building. Yep. Amazingly developed characters you love and hate. Yep. A well though out plot line that has twists and turn of love betrayal and hate. Yep. Yep. Yep. Honestly. I can see this book going far!!!!! I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment!
I highly recommend this amazing fantasy read! The world building was amazing. I loved the multiple POV's and the characters are all so badass and so relatable. There was so much going on in this book and I loved every little bit! Enemies to lovers, war and different twists and turns once you start reading you will end up binge reading this book. I can't wait to see what will happen next! If you love enemies to lovers and fantasy make sure to add this book to your tbr!
I think if a book is going to have more than two POVS it needs to be a little more contained and precise in its world building. This book loved to switch POVs and since I was struggling to remember who exactly from the large cast of characters it had swapped to... I don't think this book accomplished that.
On another note, after everything Belaize did, I felt like his relationship with Eliana developed much too fast, and the mate bond wasn't emphasised enough that I could attribute it to insta love.
3.5ish stars because I really like the concept and if the book was a little more organised/contained, I could see it being 4 stars for me.
Once I started Lycus: The Prophecy Annihilation, I couldn’t put it down and read it in one day! The book was well-paced and has a certain rhythm to the story lines. Skilful writing, realistic as well as unique characters and a plot full of twists and turns puts this book in the top of my “Best Books I’ve Read” list. The author takes some liberties in logic.
Thank you to @instabooktours and @i.s.knight for a gifted copy of this book.
I have been unfortunate enough to have to adult whilst reading Lycus. Work has been manic and when I haven’t been there, I’ve been so tired. This has annoyed me greatly because I just wanted to read this book!
I have been trying to read different books and have ended up with a couple of fantasy books through book tours. I am so glad I did. I did a cover reveal for this one and when offered to read it, based on the cover alone I had to say yes.
Firstly, I love the pronunciation guide. It’s so helpful and I kept flicking back to it. And I love a good book map. There a are lot of characters in this story. You hear from a lot of them and I loved reading the different perspectives. I didn’t find myself getting confused at all. It helps build a great picture and understanding from various sides.
There is a content warning at the start of the book which I know some people like, so that is good of the authors. I expected it to be dark as it’s labelled dark fantasy but it didn’t phase me (maybe I’m desensitised with my job, reading, podcasts and tv habits!). The wolves are brutal but they are animals and it’s war so… There are also softer sides to. The mate bond. That connection must amazing!
I loved the story and how it developed. I loved Belaize’s journey. I can’t think of anything I didn’t enjoy. It is detailed and the world has been built and explained so well. I felt invested in the world and the characters.
This is the start of a 7 book series and I definitely want to read them all. I am looking forward to the rest of the books and recommend this one.

Ok I can see this becoming a new TV series soon. (Netflix hoping) I highly recommend this book if you like dark fantasy this is a definite book you should pick up. Christmas present maybe😊 The starting of the book you are bought into the world of Vascya and the characters living in it. See slide there is a map and a pronunciation guide to help with the characters names can you believe that, what work went into this story is amazing I can envision this world in my mind so clearly from this authors writing .There is fighting and some blood shed but then again there are wolves which are animals. This is a great story just the characters and the world they live In is amazing. The Authors bought this story to Life in such a great way I got so involved in this story I read it in 2 days. I can’t wait to see what happens next definitely a great read. I can say enough how much I enjoyed reading this story about Vascya i highly recommend reading this. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did
If you are like me and you love reading fantasy books with good characters, thrilling plot and sweet romance then this book is for you!
I like how this book shows in-depth misery of war and its impact on others yet still has many tooth aching sweet moments. It has the perfect balance of ruthlessness and compassion. Both the main characters of this book are absolutely lovable especially Belaize if you love the bad guy trope.
But just know that this book gets really intense sometimes so much so that I had to put it down sometimes just to process what just happened....
But overall this book is great and I definitely recommend you to try it out!
The world building is fantastic! The storyline keeps you glued to the pages and the action scenes add to the adventure. I loved that we didn't overload everything you are told there's a reason. Told from multiple points of view you get to see each side of the story: the good, the bad and the ugly. The characters are great! Interesting and strong! Really a great debut novel! I'm definitely interested in seeing what the author brings us with the next book!
Thank you to @nbbtours and @isknight for the opportunity to review and feature this amazing book!
What a brilliant start to this epic dark fantasy series! I could not put this book down. The world building was epic and immense. From the first page, you are drawn into the world of war and politics.
The story is told in multiple POVs and feels like too much information but trust me as you keep reading you will understand the need. Each characters are important and you'll get to understand the world better. I really enjoyed the way the author had achieved that.
This book is definitely fast paced dark fantasy that will keep you on the edge of the seat. Exceptionally written and an engaging read. I can not wait to read the second book and HIGHLY recommend.
I had the pleasure of beta reading this and here is my honest opinion. This is genuinely one of the best books I've read this year. I loved how the author's managed the multi povs it's one of the main reasons that kept me so on edge. Even though there were lots of characters I don't think anyone was left out everyone got their fair share and had a good depth to their story. I loved how the plot progressed the pace was so good I never felt bored. The writing style was completely amazing especially the conversations they were soooo well written I felt the urge to act some out😂. And last but not the least the ending I absolutely loved it even though it broke my heart a little but still it was a great conclusion and I can't wait to read the second book. Just a note check the trigger warnings forst if you're gonna read it.
This book was well written, the world building and the describing of places was really good too. I personally like abit more descriptive romance but I will say I actually really enjoyed the plot! You could really connect to the characters and the pain they went through and how they overcame it! The story was easy to follow too.
