Panthea by Luc Watson 📚

Wow. Just wow. What's not to like about this book? I can't think of anything. I don't read a lot of sci-fi but when I do, I really get into it. Panthea was a mind blowing, sweet and beautiful story of how one human won over an entire alien race. I am also a sucker for alien-human romance. Fans of The Host and Aurora Cycle will definitely like this one as well!

Panthea is the debut book of this author and it is truly exceptional. I rarely ever love books by debut authors, but this one was written so well. It doesn't feel like a debut book in any way. The writing style was quirky and articulate. The tone of book was sweet and earnest. The plot was really exciting.

The best part of the book were the characters. I loved how each character had so much substance in them. The setting and the world the author has created was fantastic. It was unique and touching to see the world through the eyes of the alien race, The Suvelians. The narration was written in third person.

The story was about Mike who survived a massacre in the ship where he was imprisoned. He landed on the planet of Panthea. Unknown to him, it was recently claimed as the homeland by Suvelians. There he met Lollane who was in charge of interrogating him. Quickly a budding friendship emerged Between them. There is threatening cyclone that seems to be present at the other side of the planet. Lolllane thought that needed to be exploded but no one listened to her. She asks Mike to help her and they start their journey together. Read the book to know more!

The book ended without giving us al the answers, so I'm really hoping for a sequel. I can't wait to know what happens next. I would recommend this book to all fiction lovers.

A true hidden gem

I went into this book with zero expectations. It’s long, and by an author I’d never read before, so I was unsure if I wanted to read it at first.
Boy, am I glad I decided to stick with it.
The two main characters (Mike and Lolanne) are very well-fleshed out. Their adventures and development are what carries much of the story. Both of them are heavily flawed individuals with their own regrets. As they journey to the centre of a massive cyclone, they learn to set aside their differences and clash against hostile weather and wildlife.
There is overall a good balance of action, adventure, and romantic tension. I felt like the pacing was perfect, and the story never lagged, even during the less intense parts.
The only issues I could really find were some awkward POV switches and misused apostrophes. Aside from that, the writing is great, and all it needs to be perfect is some additional editing.
