Rate this book
THE PRISONER
Braelyn was a princess who was sheltered in the undersea kingdom of Kymora, dreaming and training for a day that she would finally face the monsters who killed her mother, the humans. Humans have been at war for years after Braelyn’s mother fell in love with a human who then left the kingdom and the safety which eventually led to her death. Now Braelyn wants to even the score, but what would happen if they get her before she gets them?

THE SOLDIER
Bex has spent his life with the king, serving him and doing questionable things but no one knew the truth. He has spent his life hating the king, dreaming of a way that would finally end this war and the king's tyranny. Now, the answer has been captured and held in the castle in the form of a siren princess named Braelyn. Working together they must find a way to survive, get out and destroy the king no matter what starts to form between them.

A LOST PRINCESS
Luna was always the quiet sister, whereas Braelyn was the strong and outspoken sister. It was never expected that Luna would run for the human lands to rescue her sister Brealyn, but there was a lot that was unexpected. Luna didn't expect to enlist the help of a band of rebel humans all facing against the king like her and she certainly didn't expect to fall for one. But she must do what she needs to do, even if that means saying goodbye.

Can they survive this war or will it destroy them?

Such a great debut novel! The storyline, the lovely characters & the history of the world was amazing to learn about! The pace moves wonderfully! The characters & the facts about the siren world kept me intrigued! The romance was a great add! It's a slow burn but it flows with the characters & the rest of the story very well! Truly a wonderful story!!

For a debut fantasy story, she has done a phenomenal job. She has delivered a well thought out story with a backstory that comes in flashes throughout. As a reader you want engagement and she has given that to me here.

Ellouise weaves a fantastic tale of intrigue, with so many questions filtering through my mind as I read. She had me guessing what was to come as I dived deeper into the siren world. Think the little mermaid with an edgier side, throw in a war and she's got me hooked from that opening scene.

The story moved at great pace, the lives and the history of the siren world along with the characters had me engaged. I love when authors put a spin on a fairytale and manage to get it right. And here, she did it effortlessly. She had me wanting to know more about these people.

The romance factor is an added bonus, slow burn that worked well with the story and the characters. The dialogue was great, along with the banter was perfect. Nothing was forced, everything worked well and fit with the storyline.

Can't wait to see where she goes with this series.

Its a yes from me.

Absolutely Amazing! Slow burn supernatural action mixed with a slow burn romance . Perfect amount of action to calm and interesting facts about the supernatural world, having me constantly wanting to read more. This book was well planned and thought out to perfection with the plot catching you from start to finish. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a nice and detailed story about emotions from multiple POVs which involve creatures of all types and humans together. The main focus point of the story are sirens and humans, and a witch. It starts with a love story between a siren and a human and then evolves into a war with the siren being presumed as dead and human gone mad with grief. The main characters are twin Braelyn & Luna who are siren and are princesses to a kingdom under the sea. One is strong and the other is soft, both have different skills and mind. A little mistake changes both their lives and the ongoing war gets fuelled in the form of them with different agenda. The story goes to and fro with both the sisters dealing different struggles in different places but going in one ultimate direction- the climax. It ends with a promise of more adventure and seriousness for book two. They meet different set of people and their life gets an unusual meaning they even don’t understand. A lot of action and revelations of the situation is happening in every nook & corner and that changed the game at the end. I hope to see more fun and chemistry in the next one.

I feel so bad for rating a book 2 stars when I didn't even finish it. I dnfed it at less than 20%. I understand that it's a debut novel.
The writing wasn't bad per se. It was just too odious to read. It's a clear case of lack of Show, Don't Tell.
The author tries too hard to describe the character's emotions.

For example-

"I take in a deep breath, reflecting on the knowledge of what I have to do, letting it seep into my muscles until I feel my shoulders drop from where they are bunched up around my ears. I uncurl the fists I didn’t know I was clenching, feeling the sting from my nails digging into my palms."

That's too many words to describe a simple emotion, the simple of act calming down. A lot of the words could have been edited and deleted to make the writing smooth, crisp, and concise. It felt too tedious to read so much to visualize even a single scene. Don't get me wrong. I love long books. I can easily read an 800 page book in 3 or 4 days. It's just..this felt too difficult. Reading is supposed to be effortless. This, unfortunately, felt the opposite.

The characters also thought the same way. Despite age and gender differences, they felt no different from one another and the multiple povs blended together.

It's not all bad. I liked where the storyline was heading. There seemed to be a lot of action and adventure in the future. Sadly, I will not be experiencing it.
If only it was better written..
I hope I get to read her future books..

I feel bad, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as I expected, especially considering that other readers absolutely adored it. There were too many 1st-person POVs for me to truly connect with any characters. Also, of those whose POV we received, they all seemed to speak, act, and think as if they were the same age - even the uncle and nieces (who were not the same age.)

I also noticed quite a few spelling and grammar errors, which should have been easy catches for an editor. (A few examples: "broach" instead of "brooch"; "waste" instead of "waist"; no capitalization for proper nouns like The Little Mermaid and The Lord of the Rings.)

Seeing as how this book is meant to be a trilogy, I'm not sure what direction this book will take (except for hints of a shift in the epilogue.) Hopefully the future books will tighten up the plot a bit, but unfortunately, even that will not draw me in to read the sequels.
