I have to say that this instalment in the series was better than I feared. I was not too convinced from the book blurb. When they drag in Gods in as main characters in urban fantasy it has a tendency to go too far out for my taste. Then when (slight spoiler here) Fiona and her friends, some of them at least, were transported by said Goddess not only in space but also in time I got a oh no and what the f… feeling.
Luckily for me the story turned out to be quite good actually. I don’t think I can review this book without dropping some small spoilers so readers be warned.
Hecate is a real bitch but in a somewhat weird way. A mix between a bitch and a spoiled and clueless brat. It would have been nice if she had shown a bit more charisma. She did come out as a bit of a single minded idiot with literally zero understanding of humans and emotions. And she cheats.
As I said, I thought this book was going in the wrong direction in the first couple of pages and even more so when Fiona’s powers were taken from her. Luckily that sorted itself out pretty soon.
Fiona quickly added a few new friends to her merry band in this book. The most charismatic of them being none other than a certain Greek good of wine making but also fertility. You can see where this is going with that last part right? Now Fiona has not one but two deities making regular suggestions about threesomes and other interesting activities. This guy is really cool actually and no, it doesn’t turn into urban porn.
Then the story goes into a direction I wasn’t expecting. I was wondering how Fiona, especially without her powers, would be able to defeat an all powerful Goddess. This is why I don’t like when they bring in Gods in the stories by the way, too powerful. Well, remember Hercules and his twelve deeds? It turns out you don’t need Hercules to perform deeds to please the Gods, just a kick-ass female druid.
Overall this was a good story in the same tradition as the previous books. Fiona and her friends are really cool, heroic, honourable, kicks ass and have great dialogues.

Good Story.

I had been wondering throughout this entire series so far why there were so few female characters. Beyond our main character there are very few strong, capable women in this story and with this book it's finally revealed to us why. Because our female author deals with some severe internalized misogyny. The whole narrative of vengeful women and women are the worst and so dramatic and get "triggered" so easily and that's why Fi is friends with mostly men? It's frankly disgusting and shameful and I can't believe that anyone allowed that bullshit to be published. It was all that I could do to keep myself from DNFing this book the minute that sort of drivel was said. I knew that there had always been something off-putting about the lack of women in these books but I never expected that sort of awful disgusting propaganda fueled narrative to come from a woman. But it just goes to show how very very persuasive misogynistic propaganda is.
I'm also entirely over the authors repeated bashing of people who get tattoos. It bothered me in the first few books when Fi was so horrified and felt so disfigured and ugly because of her spelled ink but it's really become an overwhelmingly ridiculous narrative in this story. It is the most backwards and old-fashioned perspective and it frankly makes me question the morality and ethics of the authors.

When even the sadness is fun
Poignant and Pee-Lightful! Sorry, I had to get That alliteration in there, and Fiona often mentions “made me pee a little,” for any number of situations, so it kinda works. Besides, I can easily imagine her laughing so hard she owes herself… (in fact I’m not certain she hasn’t at some point).
This book is most definitely a blast from the past and wrings every drop of emotion possible from that situation when it is mixed with the love of family these characters embody. Now, whisk together their personalities and humor, add 3-4 dashes of conflict between deities, 4 slices of Herculean challenges and bake under a Greek sun for several days and you’ve got this book.
Perhaps the most ringing endorsement I can offer is this:
To be totally transparent: I must confess despite having a reading list that is 100+ titles deep with unread books I’ve already purchased, this is nonetheless my THIRD time reading through this series.
I’m always so eager to read the next thing that I used to fail to make the time to write a review. I’m correcting that habit.
So pick this up, sit down, and ENJOY!!!

Hell's to the Yeah!!!
More books beyond the 8? If 8 is as good as the previous, please do so.
Nice story, good way go bring in the Greek pantheon, keeping tension with Fi and all the men, etc. Like the fights, battles, engagements, interpretations of the members of the pantheon, etc.
The only thing that stuck in my craw ways the consistent use of the 1200 year setback, but really it was more like a time travel of 22 to 2600 years, because Roman female gladiators are generally believed go be in the Empire, not Republic times. Also the description of toga, chiton, and other clothing of the period puts them further in the past than 1200 years , when you'd have been privy to the Muslim expansion, the Byzantium Empire, and probably Greek serfs rather than slaves.
Still, that's just me picking at a slight incongruity which just was a burr under my saddle.
Get the book, read it, if you've like Fi and family before I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.

Veni, vidi, vici. It’s all Greek to me
After the two previous books, I was worried that I would be disappointed, but this book made me glad I didn’t give up on this series!
I enjoyed An Immortal’s Pain immensely. I was delighted and worried, and happy and thrilled and excited.
This book was so much fun!
If you are reading this after suffering through the previous two books, don’t give up!! This one is worth it. If you want to skip or just read summaries of books 5&6 that’s probably the best option, but this one is back the same way the first 4 were, light and delightful and fun.
I honestly loved every single aspect of this book, from start to finish. I hope some of the “new” characters show up in the future as they were a lot of fun. Plus, I can never get too much Greek. Love him!!

An astounding visit to Ancient Greece
Did I pique your interest? Yes? Good, go get the book. No? Why? What more do you need to hear?
It's an incredibly exciting book, that I wish had never ended. Fi and Calum, along with Kevin and Niko get kidnapped by Hecate and transported to Ancient Greece because the Goddess of magic is a cray-cray stalker ex girlfriend.
Book 7 in what is supposed to be only an 8 book series, and I love the characters more with every word. Please Auburn, give in to Yoda and write another 4, make it a twelve book series?! I promise I won't whine on book 11's review and ask you to go to 16.(well, I won't whine MUCH.)
If you haven't read this series, start now, you won't regret it.

let the Greek games begin!
Dayum. I heart it.
This book is about Nikon and this time Fi and friends/family are fighting for his freedom. It was nice getting his story and I love the Greek myths so it was fun and wasn’t too hard to get into. It fortunately was predictable and they won, so I took more time with the trials. I hope we see more of the gods.
Fi’s story is good. At times it seems far-fetched and the guys fall a little too fast for her at times, but I think she’s supposed to be a breath of fresh air, and I know by experience that THAT can quickly draw you up. So then it’s not so unbelievable.
I adore Fi and Nikki’s relationship. Greece was beautiful. It was fun watching the “bad guy” get put in place.

Definitely a must read
Fast paced action in old Greece with Fiona backing up for her Greek friend against goddess Hecate. Will Fi prevail and free the Greek, will she overcome the trials that are before her without all of her clan backing her up? Yeah, no, I’m not going to tell, read the book to find out for yourself, you won’t be disappointed.
Absolutely loved this book, pulled me in from the start, gave me a heart attack part way in with the unexpected twist and kept my attention right to the end. Ended up reading in one session, already pre-ordered the next book.
Tempeste and Anderle are doing a brilliant job with this series, here’s hoping for 8 more!!

Not to be missed!
I didn’t even read the synopsis before I picked up this book. This has been such a wonderful series, full of characters that I have grown to love, having all these amazing adventures. However this time we are thrown into Nikon’s world - and I loved what the authors did with this turn of events. They really opened up the world, and showed us that Fi has an untapped potential to become something very special. This was fast paced and had enough action and sassiness that I devoured it in under 2hrs. Can’t wait to see what Tempest and Andearle have in store for the Druids next.

The More I read about this Druid family, the more I'm starting to despise them, as such love between kin seams to be unnatural. I don't know if I'm that prejudiced to the whole "my Family is my world" idea or if this vision of Irish clan is really as naively written as I feel.
Also, the sexual innuendos and crude language are making me cringe the further I read.
You could think that with such a role in community and experience, Fiona could grow a bit more mature.
Unfortunately, it doesn't happen.
What was amusing in the first books, starts to be very annoying the further I read, and the whole "we're the best and we're gonna kick your ass" attitude is also very frustrating.

So. THIS IS GOOD. Really, SERIOUSLY good. If, by some odd chance,you have stumbled on this one as your first encounter?...Some Things You Need To Know.
1) This is book seven. As good as the story is, it's even better if you start with #1.
2) They're Canadians, not Americans. Quitcherbitchin.
3) That tag line? They MEAN it! Ya mess w' THIS lass, ye'll get put on yer ass!

No stopping
This has been an incredible story line, best I've read in a while. I'm with Mike on this. I think I've read them all so far in the order written. Now that Nikon (Greek) has the entire Team Trouble, Bat Cave, and and Irish (hotness) doing art with Kev......well you just have to keep them coming. Let's not forget the whole Calcum (I know that's 1now you spell it) but what a great charisma, close, funny, etc. group. Nope I'm counting on 20 more book's at least. Get it girl!

Each book gets better! As a lover of Ancient Greek & Roman mythology, this was my favorite so far! I love that adventures are don’t overshadow character development. Given the way the Cumhail clan drinks, Dionysius is an obvious for family god connection. I liked getting more backstory on Nikon & his family, too. Getting to know the characters better makes me love them all more with each book! Some series I’ve read are so into the action & adventure that there is very little opportunity to connect with the characters.

🌶️: 0/5. This series has no spice. Lots of bad language, but no spice. It doesn’t make a lot of sense, tbh. The characters are so brazen about everything but ignore that time together.
Narration: 4/5
I thought the series would fall off after the last book, but it didn’t. We are all about the Greek gods here. Also, I enjoyed that the typical fantasy “trial” was more like a job that happened during the day and they went home and rested after. More civilized. No torture.
I miss the dragons.

An entire book centered around Nikon and his backstory? Hells to the Yes! I am firmly on the Fiona-Sloan ship but I do sometimes dream of a Nikon and Fiona pairing. This book truly solidified this dream. A trip back to Ancient Greece, meeting some of the Greek gods, and completing their own trials; what more could you need?
After the disappointment I felt from the last book I was a little concerned for this one. The book started off strong, and then kept getting better. I finished this and immediately had to grab the next because I needed the Druid high I was riding to continue.

This book did just that! Happy Reading.

I liked the introduction to all the new characters. Didn't care much about the talk of orgies but I guess if you're going to add the mythical gods in there, they'll probably all have to be accounted for.
No matter what, Fiona always seems to add more friends and alliances to her team. In real life you could take away from this a few moral lessons. Trust those around you that know and truly love and care for you.
I also liked the fact that I could use Google maps to follow their adventures to real places on earth.

Un des meilleurs tomes de cette série. Pas parfait, mais par rapport aux précédents, c’est d’un cran supérieur et cela permet de profiter pleinement de ce récit qui nous entraîne carrément sur l’Olympe.
Car c’est Nikon, cette fois-ci qui entraîne Fiona ainsi que Callum et Kevin dans les ennuis. La jalousie d’Hecate poursuit notre grec depuis des millénaires et évidemment Fiona ne pas ne pas l’aider. C’est un récit emplit d’action entrecoupé de dialogues pétillants d’autant plus quand Dionysos rentre en scène.

Not loving this book
I have very much enjoyed all the previous books but not this one they are in Greece, you don't have common light slang there. They are way too confident. You forgot the humility. People do not like confidence with no reason. They have no reason. They are just arrogant. Not liking this book. You missed the mark. Way to cocky and way to sexual. You are off the clean wholesome mark. And way too, I love you as a justification for stupidity.

An Immortal’s Pain
Great addition to the series. I binged through the first six books in the series and enjoyed every minute of it. The fun continued with this one. Great characters. A very good story line. Plenty of action. Love to see how the whole family interacts and sticks together. The books are a fun read. Michael hinted there might be another four books added to the series! Looking forward to all of them. Highly recommended.

All hail the red headed Druidism’s
This series has quickly became a favorite. I love the life, laughter, joy, sorrow, pain, mystery, instilled into each character. The setting of a modern Druid family, immigrated from the old city country, and keeping order is comforting to me. I have roots in the Druid culture, so it speaks to my heart. The stories of the things this Tribe endures are new and fresh, which makes each story soo much fun and unique. Thank you for the adventure.

Fiona goes to Greece
This series really rocks. I love the idea of druids and gods and the authors do such an amazing job with the characters and story lines. Fiona, a few family members and Nikon have to do battle to win Nixon's freedom from a spoiled Goddess. There is so much humor and action in these books and I am always so excited to read each new book. I am very happy that the series is being stretched to 12 books and will always read anything by either of the authors.

Of gods and men.
Wow! She’s off again! Fi touches off a nerve in Nikon and, while apologising, gets caught up in a feud. Nikon and the Titan goddess Hecate have a history and a jealous Hecate decides to take revenge on Fi. As the same time Calum and Kevin get caught up in her trap too. From then on it’s a non stop rollicking ride for the four of them. Five if you count Bruin, and who couldn’t?
Very enjoyable.

Yessssss
This was so good. Fi, Calum, Kev and Nikon are pulled back to Ancient Greece!
Hecate is Cray. Dionysus is amazing.
We learn sooooo much about Nikon and why he is the way he is. I hope in future books we can see him happy and thriving. Poor guy deserves it.
I have so much I want to put but it’s all spoilers! You need that shock value. So I’ll zip it.
Alsooooo… while Nikon flirts with Fi, we actually find out who he’s really gettin down with. Was NOT expecting that!!

They only get better
Just. When you think you may get tired or they run out of places to go or get too powerful to write. This is the best one do far. Side note. I love the way she incorporates LGBT characters. They are there because they fit their part of the story. Ancient Greece hello. Sick to death of having them tossed randomly into every new book by authors that should know better. Just so the author gets a good review on tumbler.

Fiona & Slone, Calum & Kevin combine a romantic Valentine weekend in Ottawa with an investigation into Athur Montclair’s death. But the weekend goes off kilter. First there’s an ensuing battle includes leviathans, vampires and lawyers. Then there’s immortal jealous girlfriend problems that leads them into the past.
I’ve always loved challenges and mazes.
Fave scenes: rescuing the baby, healing the plants, the scales of justice challenge and Slone’s time rescue.

a lot can be said about this series. it's so stupidly chaotic, at times heartwarming, often funny and i adore how kindness and willingness to truly GET one another is the base in a lot of the communication. but also, it's so freaking heavy on both "casual" misogyny spread out throughout the story AND internalized misogyny in the MC. it's mind-blowing to me that the author can be so in tune and so out of touch, all at the same time.
