A toe curling, laugh out loud collection of worst day disasters. I’d always rolled my eyes when people describe things as 'happening in slow motion'. Surely everything happens in regular time and it's only when you replay it in your head that it seems to slow down? But as the car lurched forward and I found myself sailing through the back of the garage, I finally understood what they meant. When a trip to meet his new girlfriend’s grandparents ends in disaster (think a crashed ute, an angry wasp and a cranky farmer with a shotgun), Thomas Mitchell knows one thing for bad days make for great stories. While we might not like to admit it, we can't help but find a sneaky pleasure in other people's misfortune. It's the reason fail compilations rack up millions of views on YouTube or television shows like Funniest Home Videos exist at all. Deep down we're addicted to the downfall of our fellow humans, and if there was ever a point in history when we needed a laugh, it's now. Today I F***D Up is a collection of tall tales but true that are equal parts hilarious and horrifying; a timely reminder that no matter how terrible things get, they could always be worse. So much worse. Praise for Today I F***D Up'Today I F****d Up turns disaster, catastrophes, abject humiliation and pure mortification into gold. Essential reading for anyone who's been there as many times as I have. Read the book, and you'll laugh for sure, and you just might also cry.' Filled to the brim with stories about dating, sex, losing your job, capitulating in a job interview and accidentally throwing a house party (we’ve all been there), Mitchell has compiled the best of the best for your enjoyment.’ Pop Sugar `Bad day? This book will help you feel 100 per cent better about your life choices.’ TV WEEK
Complain about all your shitty days at work (which is literally every day that im there) enough times and someone will put a comedy book in your hands :).
Just not my sense of humour so I didn't find it funny. The whole point of the book was for it to be funny. Did want to read it because it was a gift and I must.
The writer has a fabulous turn of phrase that pokes fun at himself from the first chapter. This sets the tone of the book to tell other's stories with a hilarious and frank perspective without ever losing the underlying warmth and good humour. If you enjoy the books of David Sedaris you'll love this.
Can confirm this is the book you need if you're ever stuck in the car for 9 hours during gridlocked holiday traffic (ironically, my own worst day!) Today I F****d Up made me laugh, cringe and gasp all at the same time. I kept putting it down because I couldn't believe the stories, but kept picking it up because it was addictive.
At a time when I needed a laugh the most, this book really pulled me through! It has been a long while since a book brought me to tears.... this one did.... tears of laughter!!
This book proves that other people's misfortunes can truly be your way to pure happiness 😂
Saw this book posted on Markus Zusak's Instagram and thought it was worth a read. I don't normally usually read memoirs or comedy books but this really made me laugh. The stories are very relatable and the writing is great.
This book was such an enjoyable & easy book to read. I have never read a book in 1.5 days & I did with this one as it was addictive & couldn’t stop reading it.
This was a really good book with some hilarious stories. It is a good book to read when you are in between books or unsure what to read. Highly recommend =)
If you want to read something light hearted and dont have to think, this is it. It's made up of short stories of F****k up situation, which you just shake your head at and think "really, did this actually really happen?!?!".. Pretty crazy situations but a good little laugh.
