My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were really well written, and I loved the connection between Sophia and Logan. I thought her feisty and spirited character really complemented his sullen and moody one.
There were so many twists in this book that I didn't see coming, especially the ending, that I couldn't put it down. I just wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. I am already desperate to read book two to find out what is going to happen next to Sophia and Logan.

I was kindly gifted an ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

ARC Review:

This book is different from what I normally read as I don't read too much YA but I really enjoyed it! It kind of has a Lux and Covenant series vibe to it, which isn't a bad thing. I adore those series.

It's quick to action, which is nice and has very detailed chapters. The only thing I had a problem with was the character descriptions. There wasn't much besides eye and hair colour and maybe height. Logan was the only one whose character had a full description. But I'm a very visual reader so I need character descriptions, I'm not very imaginative.

But the development between Sophia and Logan is great and I can't wait to read the next book because this one ends on a cliffhanger you never see coming.

✨Logical Magick is a fun YA urban fantasy story!✨

Sophia is wayyy too focused on school but unfortunately reminds me of my younger self 📓 Except of course, I didn’t suddenly find out about a world of magic that has been hidden. There are two new kids at school, Liz and Logan, who show up and try to convince her that she has magic and belongs to their community. Sophia’s life gets a bit dramatic after that...🗡

Despite his abrasive attitude, Sophia is drawn to Logan in a way she doesn’t understand 🔥. Of course, he’s cute and underneath his rough exterior he’s very caring as well. They have a cute banter and Sophia also stands up for herself, despite being thrown into a completely new world.

I also enjoyed how the story focussed on her friendship with Liz in addition to her romantic interest in Logan. Liz is fun and spunky and has an entertaining slightly cavalier attitude, while being bada** enough to back that attitude up. (She’s also portrayed as a bit of a crazy cat lady 🐱💕).

Of course, as the book continues, Sophia is in more danger but also becomes determined to learn how to defend herself 🙌🏻. There was a cliffhanger at the end and I’m curious to see what happens next! 👀

✨Thank you to the author for a free copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest review.✨

For transparency I am 31 and this is a young adult book but it was just a bit too young adult for my taste. Read the first few chapters and gave up on it. Can't say it's bad because I didn't finish it and im not the target audience but this was just a miss for me

I thought this is the perfect YA book, becoming of age and typical teenager-y read.

This took me back to when I was younger and all I ever read was YA and I loved the feel of them, they are just so light and airy, with no heavy emotions attached. This had that and then some, it was kind of like the characters were stuck in their teenage years but faced with adult decisions quicker than expected.

I loved the fast-paced storyline and character development throughout. It was very well written, it did take me a little while to get into but once my head was focused on the book, I was off and loving it.

The cliffhanger and twist at the end, I mean really Nicole, did you have to do that and make me wait!? I am super intrigued but such a great ending to a very good read.

If you like YA this book will be a great, easy read.

Thank you to @nicoleaoliverwrites for allowing me a copy of your book, I loved it and the cover is very pretty. And a huge thanks to @instabooktours for having me on your tour!

Logical Magic by Nicole A. Oliver hooked me from the start. Sophia and Logan were grand characters to followed; however, a relationship building between them was highly predictable. The author created a fascinating world of magic and witches, and all the different statuses and powers were very intriguing. The story has a unique plot which I haven’t read before, and there are a few surprises as well! I did feel that there was a lot of unnecessary details and overused dialogue that distracted from the story and caused it to become dull at times. Parts of the story seemed slightly unbelievable, such as Sophia wanting to focus on homework during all the chaos. That just didn’t ring true for me. Aside from those things, the book was a highly enjoyable, fast, easy read. The story does end on a major cliffhanger which concerned me as everything I loved about the book may fall apart in the sequel. Highly recommended for YA and Fantasy fans.

I wasn't sure when I got this book to be honest purely because I'm not a fantasy reader but I'm always wanting to try new genres and I was so surprised how much I enjoyed it 😊

We meet Sophia who is getting through high school but believing in all things logical and science. Then she finds out all isn't as it seems.

Logan and his sister Liz are sent to look after Sophia but things soon take a turn for the worst and get dangerous.

This was the perfect mix of all things magical and reality, it was so easy to follow! The second half of the book got really interesting....

It is written brilliantly and flowed so well! I can't wait to read the next book in the series 😃 I couldn't put this down and I'm sure I'll love the next one!

Good story with a fast paced plot

I enjoyed reading Logical Magic. I did find quite a few editing errors though. Mostly just misused words. Not enough to make the book a problem to read.

Sophie is a studious girl who is determined to get a scholarship so she can become a surgeon like her late father. She starts to meet some new people at school and a guy she is drawn to tells her she is an archmage and that she's in danger. This rocks Sophie's world because she only believes in what science can prove. Logan and his sister Liz try to protect and train Sophie and the plot progresses quickly.

The book definitely ends on a cliffhanger, so you'll be off looking for the next part of the story.

I enjoyed this first book in a new YA mage series. It jumps right into the story with a typical day for our hero and I enjoyed it. A bunch of characters are introduced besides the main mage characters to get a feel for Sophia and her typical teen life as a nerd. It was a bit addicting and I had to keep reading to see what craziness would happen next as Sophia is introduced to the magical mage world she finds herself a part of now. Well written, engaging, and fun. It made me laugh and groan a few times but that is to be expected with teenagers. Liked the story and cannot wait to see what happens next because of how it ends.

Ahhh cliffhanger! I need the next book now!
I loved the way the magic exists in the world and who has it. I also love how almost quirky Sophia is (kinda like me). Logan and Liz are great too. Sophia and Liz’s independence is super awesome especially when they put Logan in his place. I also love all the mystery and unanswered questions we have for the next book. I think a lot of this book reminded me of Hush Hush which I also really loved.
So thankful I got an ARC of this.
100% recommend this book if you love YA fantasy

Sophia loves school and learning and the debate club. She has a plan about how things will go for her future. Then Logan and Liz show up, she finds out about the magic world, and that she is an uber powerful mage. Trying to keep all of that straight takes a bit of getting used to and I liked how Sophia decided to treat it as another subject to study. The various relationships were built up nicely and the pieces of the magic world that were explained were interesting. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.

This was a great beginning to the series (even though I hated the cliffhanger ending)! The character building/description lacked a bit in my opinion but the book still kept me hooked. There are many things that I didn’t see coming and the characters are so different yet compliment each other well. I can’t wait for the next book!

Devoured this book in 2 days! It was an easy read that flowed great! It's got everything you want from an independent smart female character named Sophia who is focused on her school and future.. that is until she meets Logan and her world gets turned upside down!

If you love magic and twist and turns with evil guys and some monsters check this out! Although be warned the ending will leave you wanting so much more! Can't wait for book 2!

I am a huge fantasy reader and I loved this YA fantasy book.
I liked the two main protagonists but I loved Liz so much. I loved Sophia and Logan's connection and how their characters perfectly fit the flow of the plot/story. Also this book has so many unseen plots (I couldn't guess it) that made me love it more. And I can't wait for the second book. I am sure it's gonna be lovely as well.

As an adult, I found the first half of Logical Magic mildly enjoyable. Oliver captures the teenage psyche well. The plot is a rehashed storyline of the same old child discovering they are magically powerful along with the falling in love with the bad boy cliche.
The unedited writing, obvious plot holes, and "wokeness" detract from what could be a good novel. However, as a parent, I would not recommend this to your children. Firstly, the heroine falls for a boy that has obvious red flags (including a power imbalance), kisses someone even though she does not really want to, and displays questionable morals. She is not a good role model for your teens, and this book normalises recklessness and a lack of integrity.
Ultimately, the poorly developed romance and the dubious power imbalance made me stop reading.

Flew through this book. Was a little put off by all the grammatical errors and the chapter titled Logan but was written from Sophia's perspective until halfway through it switched to Logan's without warning. Quite the cliffhanger though maybe a bit too climatic without enough resolution between books.

Whilst I did think the premise of this story was interesting, the execution just wasn't there. There were so many errors - incorrect names, spelling, or missing punctuation - that they just kept pulling me out of the story. It was difficult to overlook these and just focus on the words.
Only a 3 star read for me.

This was a fun, light, romp of a book. The cliffhanger ending felt a bit forced, but overall I enjoyed it.

It was perfect reading for a mid length plane flight - kept me engaged the whole ride and entertained most of it. A solid book, and a fun read.

This is one of the best debut novels I have ever read. I loved the characters from early on in the book. I've already pre-ordered book 2 and I'm thankful I don't have to wait too long for it to be published.

This story drew me in completely. I really identified with Sophia because I was the quiet nerd without too many friends in high school. The only bad thing about this book is the cliffhanger ending. You will need to go and get the others in this series to see what happens next.

Interesting twist

This was a different look at witches and paranormal.. A little slow at the start but grows as you continue on. Very interesting story line. Must continue.

page turner

The character building was excellent, especially when each chapter was written through the two main characters “eyes”. Looking forward to the next book !

I was given a free copy of this book through Voracious Readers Only in exchange for a honest review.

As I finished the first page, I was instantly drawn into Sophia's new world with her. I love the plot and her friendship with Liz and Logan. I enjoyed the idea of how Sophia is a science nerd but really is an Archimage and can control all the powers mages have.

This story was interesting and had an easy flow to it. Once I started I couldn't stop.

My only problem with this book was that it was way to short! It ends on a cliffhanger which makes me want to read the second book in this series straight away.

I find that as I get older (sob) it’s harder to keep my engagement with YA fiction (I know, I know, I’m not the target reader) but this one did it. Oliver channels JLA vibes (particularly her Lux series) as we follow a bookish/nerdy female lead who falls for the alpha bossy male teen. And I love it!

I really enjoyed the journey as Sophia turns from being book smart to being a full blown magical mage! And along with that comes the lovely Logan. I really liked their relationship (but would have enjoyed more of a build up to their bond and attraction). This had a great ending - I can’t wait for book 2 to be released!
