The perfect summer read of a second chance romance between Taryn and Garrett. Taryn has a lot on her plate, she wants to buy her parents bakery, the summer festival and her friend's wedding. Of course nothing goes easy for Taryn, along with the return of her friend's brother, Garrett, who ghosted her six months earlier. Garrett does explain what happens and all is forgiven. He is always there lending a helping hand. Soon they can't deny the chemistry that they share. But can they survive a long distance relationship?

Loved this sweet second chance romance. Wonderful small town romance. I had a hard time putting down this book with many life lessons brought up. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. Can't wait to read the next book in the series. I highly recommend!

If you love small-town, second-chance contemporary romance, then you will greatly enjoy "A Slice of Summer", Book Two in author Melissa McClone' s "Silver Falls Series". The quaint little Washington state town of Silver Falls had always been home to Taryn Lawson. Working at her family's business, Lawson's Bakery, was what she knew and what she loved. Baking was her inherited skill and her life. Proving herself to her parents with an eye toward taking over the business when they retired was all she thought about--at least it was until she met Garrett Andrews. In town for the holidays to visit his sister Callie, a friend of Taryn's and owner of the local doggy daycare center, Garrett enjoyed meeting and spending time with the lovely baker. He had meant to keep in touch when he returned to his high-profile law partnership in Los Angeles, but unforeseen events had occurred which made it unsafe for him to contact her. His silence had been puzzling and hurtful to Taryn, and when Garrett returned six months later for Callie's wedding, Taryn was not happy to see him. Realizing how much he had hurt Taryn, and how much he really likes her, Garrett sets out to make amends. When the opportunity comes along to help Taryn when she needs it the most, Garrett jumps at the chance. Spending time together again soon brings ease back to their friendship, and an attraction grows between them. They are each career-driven, and his life is in LA, and hers is in Silver Falls. If love has its way, can they trust each another enough to learn to compromise for the sake of a happy future together? "A Slice of Summer" is a sweet treat for lovers of contemporary romance. Read the series books in order, "The Christmas Window" and then "A Slice of Summer" for a double-dip delight.

Taryn Lawson planned ahead for her summer fair booth. Everything just needed to be put together or so she thought. Only when she goes to get everything out, it's all moldy, wet, warped all ruined. To top it off, someone she really doesn't want to see shows up acting like he just left yesterday, instead of six months ago then ghosting her.

Garrett didn't mean to ghost Taryn but circumstances kept him from contacting her. Then it just seemed awkward. he needs to get back into Taryn's good graces at the very least, since they will both be at his sister's wedding. After Taryn refuses to send out a cookie for him when his family comes for desert on the patio, Callie convinces him has to do something to smooth things over.

Of course he messes that apology up after it's accepted. At least they both knew where they stood now, or do they...

He learns about her problem with the booth while helping Margot chose desserts at the bakery for Callie's rehearsal dinner. Since he does have some construction experience he has to offer to help.

The booth isn't the only thing that's going wrong for Taryn's bakery and she's afraid that her father would sell if she can't turn a profit. The new bakery in Summit was not only undercutting her price wise but also somehow offering the same new items she's been coming up with.

Lots of joy with the wedding coming, some suspense with the bakery and an unpleasant surprise with the booth.

The attraction between her and Garrett once again sparks but will it be enough this time around?

I love the way this story unfolds, and the slow simmer to the relationship.

I can't wait to see what comes next for Silver Falls.

"A Slice of Summer" is a sweet and romantic story about second chances and finding out what you really need in life. Garrett has never thought about a significant other until meeting Taryn in the small town of Silver Falls. Helping her prep a booth for the town's summer fair and bring customers back to her bakery brings Garrett and Taryn together, but it is the excellent chemistry between them that has them feeling like they've known each other forever. They are the delightful, magical kind of couple who are comfortable friends and a combustible couple. I liked how Taryn is never willing to give up on her dreams, whether that's the bakery or a relationship with Garrett- she knows things worth the having require work and compromise, without losing yourself in the process. She and Garrett remind us all to focus on what's important, and figure out the rest afterwards.

A great summer read, one that had me smiling from start to finish. Romantic, fun and lovely.

Sweet love story

and not just because of the bakery setting. Great characters! A little twist of fate with the town nemesis, and of course, a lovely ending.

The Silver Falls Summer Fair was fast approaching it was only a week away. Taryn Lawson wasn’t worried she felt good about things, she had planned well ahead and had done pregame work as they say. At the Business Association meeting where everyone was wigging out she was feeling calm. Pride surged through her, adding a bounce to her step. “This is my year.” She’d worked hard in the fall storing parts of the booth in the backyard shed before the weather changed. Now that she had finished the patio she could move on to the finishing touches for the festival.

It shouldn’t take long. All she needed to do was remove the pieces, assemble them, transport them to the park, and add the final details. Easy-peasy. She felt a calmness come over her. Her parents wouldn’t be able to complain about this. As Taryn crossed the backyard, her tennis shoes sank into the tall grass. She’d neglected the lawn and hadn’t mowed for far too long. Nothing would bring her down today. If things went according to plan, business would return to normal by August.

She rubbed her hands together. She removed the padlock and opened the door. Mildew pounced on her nose. “Ew.” She peeked inside. A stinky mess of wood, plastic, mold, and rot welcomed her. Taryn groaned. “No. This. Can. Not. Be. Happening.” Her muscles bunched. Her eyes wanted to shut, but she kept them open. Nothing would erase the tragedy in front of her, including pretending. Out of sight, out of mind wouldn’t help. All her hard work on the Midsummer Night’s Dream-themed booth was… “It’s all ruined.”

She felt sick. Rotted wood assaulted her nose. All her hard work in framing beforehand. She’d planned on using them as the base for the decorations. The canopy hadn’t survived, either. Mold grew on the vinyl. Ditto for the signs she’d drawn. Her shoulders sagged. “Ruined. It was all ruined.” No wonder the used shed had been so reasonable. The roof must have leaked. The previous owner knew and hadn’t told her. They said it was in excellent condition, so she’d never considered testing it.

Why would they lie? You. Are. Too. Trusting. Her chest tightened. Her plans were hanging on the bulletin board in the bakery’s office. It hurt knowing her dad felt she was too trusting when Taryn was doing the best she could. She was putting her all into the bakery. A part of her blamed Nick Baxter, a friend since high school who was involved with the new place. “Very. It’s too bad you don’t have a boyfriend handy with power tools.” “I’m on a sabbatical from dating.”

“I don’t have time to date, anyway.” Jayden snickered. “You made time before, for that hotshot attorney…” Her jaw clenched, and she balled her hands. “Garrett Andrews isn’t a hotshot.” “He’s a jerk.” When Garrett told her he’d call after he left town, she believed him. Why wouldn’t she when they’d had so much fun together while he was visiting his sister over Christmas? But he’d lied the same as the shed seller. Two important things she’d remember in the future. Trust needed to be earned, not given freely. “He ghosted me.” “I fell for it, too.

I wish I’d never met him.” “Just because Garrett turned out to be a jerk doesn’t mean you should paint all men the same.” “Have I treated you or the employees differently since December?” “No.” “Customers?” “Nope, but you didn’t want to date the new paramedic Rachelle introduced you to.” “He was attractive, but he only wanted free baked goods.” “Possibly, but he works with a construction crew on his days off. Go out with him so he can help you.” That appealed to Taryn for a nanosecond.

“I would never use someone that way. Besides, I only have a few days to rebuild the booth. I couldn’t squeeze in a date, either. But no worries. I’ll figure it out.” “You’ll exhaust yourself.” Garrett was staying at Margot’s who is Brandt's aunt. Callie will be marrying Brandt in two weeks. So the brothers, all three will be descending over the next three days and will all be staying with Margot. No sooner had Garrett arrived than she was asking about his plans while he was there. He said he had work but there to do whatever Callie needed to be knocked off her list.

Also, anything she may need. She said that would be great. She did have a list of things for dinner for that night if he could pick them up. He said, Sure, however, when looking at the list the bakery was on it which meant possibly seeing Taryn. After ghosting her. For a good reason and her safety. He never called to explain once the threat was lifted. See if he has a shot at friendship at this point. Such a good book. I hate the way her parents treated her.

I recently read an ARC of Melissa McClone’s upcoming A Slice of Summer, the second story in her Silver Falls series. I’ll admit that I have been a dedicated fan of this author for many years. This book is perhaps her best story! It reads as an easygoing, enjoyable story, but it is so much more. I pray that there are many more Silver Falls stories… the sooner the better! Also, I would vote to make this sweet story a mandatory read for most adults in North America. The author has weaved very valuable life lessons into her story. Lessons learned that usually involve injured feelings and bruised hearts. My Eureka moment came near the conclusion, and I’m still smiling from the completeness of this story.

Taryn Lawson is the third-generation baker in her family. A family that has always owned Lawson’s Bakery in Silver Falls. Taryn is wonderful! …ask anyone in Silver Falls! A few years back, Taryn’s father retired early, and Taryn threw herself into managing the bakery. Events beyond her control are cascading against her, and the bakery she desperate wants to inherit. Taryn is making the wedding cake(s) for Callie Garrett’s wedding, but an old classmate has sworn vengeance against Lawson’s Bakery because he wanted an out-of-town bakery, Summit Ridge Bakery, to have that honor. Summit Ridge Bakery seems to constantly be one step ahead of Taryn. This is especially true when her display booth for The Silver Falls Summer Fair is copied by Summit Ridge Bakery, just days before the fair. How did they know?

Can Taryn’s life get more complicated? Yes! In walks Garrett Andrews, one of Callie’s brothers, and a hot shot attorney from Los Angeles. Taryn and Garrett had a short romance back around Christmas, but he ghosted her after returning home. She did not appreciate it. Taryn has struggled her entire life needing to earn her father’s approval. That effort has left her feeling not worthy. Garrett’s work obsessed tunnel vision that resulted in his failure to contact Taryn from LA, has again made her feel not worthy. Garrett is interested in Taryn, but he’s internally fighting his own demons. He apologizes to her, and offers to help with her new booth idea, that needs to be completed in three days! She accepts, and their dance begins!

Will Taryn finally earn her father’s approval? Will Lawson’s Bakery finally be hers? Will Taryn discover how the other bakery knows her every move? Will the Silver Falls Summer Fair be a success? Will Garrett vanquish his demons? Will Taryn and Garrett have a HEA? Treat yourself to a wonderful story. A story full of heartfelt characters, two and four legged. After all, it is another Melissa McClone masterpiece!

I received an arc of A Slice of Summer by Melissa McClone from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is book 2 in the Silver Falls series. I read the first book a while ago and was happy to revisit the charming town of Silver Falls, Washington. This book opens with an upcoming Summer Festival that all the businesses are busy designing booths for. The main character, Taryn Lawson, manages her family’s bakery and has planned an elaborate booth for the festival. Unfortunately she learns that the pieces to the booth ended up with mold and damage and were unable to be used. She starts trying to redesign the booth and injures her hand. She realizes it is going to be a long process to build the booth on her own. A new bakery opened in a nearby town and they have been stealing her recipes and undercutting her prices. She is hoping the festival will help her business.

The couple from book one, Callie and Brandt are getting married the weekend after the festival and Callie’s 3 brothers are in town from LA to help with wedding duties. Taryn is making all the cakes and desserts for the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. When Callie’s older brother Garrett was in town over the holidays, he and Taryn dated a little and then he ghosted her. When he comes to her bakery to pick up preordered items, he gets the cold shoulder from Taryn and her employees. He apologizes for not contacting her and explains that he had received death threats from a legal case he was involved in. He also learned that Taryn needs help putting together her replacement booth to be ready in just 3 days. He offers to help and the two work nonstop to get things ready. The two start rekindling their friendship and both realize there’s chemistry between them.

Garrett and Taryn try to see each other as much as they can with the festival, wedding preparations and the actual reception. Taryn plans to stay in Silver Falls and run her bakery and Garrett has to return to LA where he is a partner in a big law firm. They also don’t want to lose touch or give up their new relationship. There is some angst and suspense as the reader wants to know what will happen between this couple. There is additional suspense involving the future of Taryn’s bakery and her position there as her dad has hinted he wants to possibly sell it.

I loved both books in the series and I am excited to read Flynn and Keaton’s stories. This is a five star book I highly recommend.

This is Garrett Andrews and Taryn Lawson's story.
After flying into Seattle and driving to Silver Falls, Garrett Andrews rolled his suitcase into Margot Winslow’s charming two-story house.
The wood molding, built-ins, and bright quilts hanging like tapestries provided character.
So did her dogs. The pair jumped on his legs, panting and acting as if he were a giant piece of bacon.
A small, tan pup barked.
The Silver Falls Summer Fair was less than a week away, but Taryn Lawson wasn’t worried.
It was only Monday, and the festival didn’t start until Friday afternoon.
She stepped out of her back door and onto the covered patio. Unlike the other First Avenue Business Association members, who’d spent last night’s meeting in a panic over their booths not being finished yet, she had everything under control.
Pride surged through her, adding a bounce to her step. “This is my year.”
I highly recommend reading.
A Slice of Summer by Melissa McClone is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Melissa McClone.

A Slice of Summer is the second book in the Silver Falls series by Melissa McClone. Last Christmas, Taryn Lawson had a great time with Garrett Andrews, a LA trial attorney. Before he left town, he promised her he would keep in touch and she never heard from him again. Now, summer has arrived and her friend, Callie and Brandt’s wedding is here, Taryn is busy prepping for it as well as proving to her parents that she is capable of taking over the family bakery while dealing with slower customer traffic. The summer fair is approaching and Taryn sees it as her opportunity to showcase her specialty desserts and win back her customers. As the fair approaches, she is coming to need help to finish in time. The only one available to help is the one man who ghosted her. Garrett didn’t intend to ghost Taryn and wants to take his chance to make amends. Will they take their second chance of love?
A Slice of Summer is a clean second chance small town romance romance with plenty of fun, sweet moments and drama and excitement. I enjoyed Taryn and Garrett as individuals and as a couple. I liked Taryn’s determination to do what she loves despite competition from a competitor and the doubts from her parents. I enjoyed Garrett and his siblings. It felt very relatable and produced a lot of laughs. Even though Taryn and Garrett rekindle their romance and agree to a long distance romance, I knew it wouldn’t end like that. I enjoyed Garrett’s grand gesture. I also enjoyed the continued slimy dealings of the town nemesis and getting his comeuppance. Will he make another appearance in future books? As a snake always wants to strike again. Overall, I enjoyed A Slice of Summer and I am looking forward to reading the next books of the series. If you enjoy clean second chance small town romance, I recommend A Slice of Summer.

I totally enjoyed reading Taryn and Garrett’s sweet, second chance story in A Slice of Summer by Melissa McClone, book two in her Silver Falls series. Taryn Lawson loves her bakery but badly needs more customers to help prove to her parents that she is capable of taking over the family business. The upcoming summer fair is the perfect opportunity to reveal her vision with a specialized booth, showcasing her creative and delicious desserts. No matter how hard to tries, she needs help in order to get her booth built in time. Unfortunately, the only person with time to help her is the handsome attorney who ghosted her after last Christmas when they were spending time together before he left to return to LA. Garrett Andrews regrets not staying in contact with the pretty baker he dated during his holiday vacation, but there were valid reasons why. Back in town for his sister’s wedding, he’s hoping to apologize and make amends; even helping Taryn build her booth for the festival. Working together, Taryn and Garrett realize the attraction and chemistry they shared before is still there, creating a special relationship. It will take small town magic, support of family and friends, as well as some compromising on their part before Taryn and Garrett obtain their happily ever after.

Ms. McClone wrote a wonderfully sweet and moving story that is not to be missed. This story contains strong magnetism, chemistry, the magic of love, and charming characters giving Taryn and Garrett a chance at love, happiness, and a future together. I highly recommend A Slice of Summer to other reader.

SLICE OF SUMMER by Melissa McClone is a sweet summer second chance romance. All Taryn has ever wanted is to run the family bakery and she will do anything to prove to her father she’s capable. Unfortunately, a new bakery in town has undercut her prices and taken her customers. Hopefully her booth at the town’s summer fair will win the top prize and bring in new and old customers…but with her original work ruined, she has to start over, and the clock is ticking. The last thing she wants to deal with is the guy who ghosted her after Christmas. Garrett has had his own things to deal with, but he’s back in town for his sister’s wedding and would love to reconnect with Taryn, after all, there were no promises made. Taryn needs help and Garrett is offering. Can they find a way to work together and maybe re-discover their connection?
A SLICE OF SUMMER is a quick read that is perfect for the summer. Though it is the second in Silver Falls series, I haven’t yet read the first and this one can easily stand alone. Full of fun, likeable characters, and even an unlikeable bad guy, this one by McClone is a refreshing summer treat, best enjoyed with a glass of iced tea and a piece of pie while sitting in a cozy chair on your deck or by the pool.
Thanks to the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the novel. All opinions are my own and freely given.

A Slice of Summer (Silver Falls, #2) is a sweet romance by Melissa McClone. It is also a quick read, at least for me since once I started it I did not want to stop until finished. There are a couple of mysteries that kept me reading. The first one was explained early in the story. That was why Garrett Andrews ghosted Taryn Lawson. I was already to dislike him until reason came out. It was rather a unique one but one that felt very believable. The second one dealing with a copycat bakery was one that kept me guessing. I was all ready to blame someone else when the truth came out.

The relationship between Tarryn and Garrett was interesting but it was the dealings about the bakery that kept me reading. Taryn like her friend Callie in the first Silver Falls book are both young female businesswomen. I wanted her to succeed even if her parents were not supporting her goals. Their reasons seem realistic but sad all the same.

I would recommend A Slice of Summer as the perfect beach read. Truly it is a slice of summer. It will leave you with warm feeling and a desire to visit you nearest bakery.

An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A super sweet romance.

The town of Silver Falls is not only gearing up for their summer fair, but there is also a big wedding about to take place. Garrett Andrews is back in town for his sister Callie’s wedding and he will have to face the girl he ghosted six months ago, Taryn Lawson. Taryn runs her family bakery and has been dealing with a big loss of customers due to a new bakery that recently opened. She needs to make the best booth for the Silver Falls Summer Festival if she plans to get customers back in her bakery. But when she discovers her booth has been ruined by a leak in her shed, she panics. Garrett is quick to help Taryn build a new booth. Working together brings back the old memories they shared during Garrett’s stay in Silver Falls during Christmas. But, can Taryn trust her heart to stay professional only? She knows once the wedding is over, Garrett will be leaving town again.

This was a fun and sweet story with small-town charm. I enjoyed every minute of Taryn and Garrett’s reunion, along with catching up with Callie and Brandt, from The Christmas Window. And, I can't end without mentioning that gorgeous cover.

This is book 2 in the Silver Falls series by Melissa McClone. I have read several books by this author and am a huge fan of her work. This book does not disappoint. Taryn has wanted nothing else but to run the family bakery, even though her parents don’t seem to think she can do it. She has two events coming up in their town of Silver Falls to help boost business and prove she is up to the challenge. However, everything starts to fall apart and she needs help to make it happen. Unfortunately, the only help that comes her way is from the guy who ghosted her six months ago. Garrett is an attorney who met Taryn while visiting family at Christmas. He is back in town for his sister’s wedding and looks forward to seeing Taryn again. While he regrets not contacting Taryn after he left, she really doesn’t want to hear his reasons, doesn’t want to see him and certainly doesn’t want to have to depend on him to save her bakery. Too bad that doesn’t work out that way for her, or maybe it’s a good thing she didn’t get what she originally wished for.
I received an ARC of this book, but my review is voluntary and my own opinion.

A Slice of Summer is the second book of this series and can be read as a standalone. I had not read book one and did not feel like I was missing any details while reading this story. This is Taryn and Garrett's story.

Taryn's and Garrett had a fleeting romance back in December that only a few people knew about. Now he is back for his sister's wedding and tries to pick up where they left off. Before that happens, he has to explain why he ghosted her and hope she forgives him.

On top of their drama, Taryn is dealing with competition from a neighboring bakery. She has to prove herself worthy of running the family bakery to her father. The only way she knows to do that is to win the town's booth contest at the town fair. Garrett is determined to make amends any way possible, and if that is by helping her build her booth, that is what he is going to do.

This is a really nice story about second chances. They start out as friends and the more time they spend together the old spark renews. It was a clean read with a good storyline and good characters. I really enjoyed their relationship and the overall story. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Another awesome book by Melissa McClone. This was such a sweet story. I loved the character of Taryn. All she ever wanted was to own her own bakery. She was determined not to let anything get in her way. She would see her dream come true somehow. Lawson's Bakery belonged to her parents. Her father did not think she was capable of running the bakery on her own. She would have to do everything in her power to prove him wrong. Can she do it? She and Garrett had a short fling and then he stopped contacting her. Now that they have run into each other again can she ever trust him again. She would have to try since she needed his help building a booth for the fair. What if they got close and how would things work out with him living in LA. A long-distance relationship? Will her father ever trust her to run the bakery? Can Taryn and Garrett make a love connection? You will have to read this wonderful story to get your answers. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Definitely recommend this book!!

Sweet and highly satisfying story by on of my favorite authors is just the perfect way to enjoy a summer afternoon. Taryn and Garrett meet again when he’s back in town for his sister’s wedding. No one knows that when he was here for the holidays that he and the lovely town baker became very good friends. But Taryn never heard from him in the intervening six months, and has too much on her plate and is nursing a bit of a grudge to have time for Garrett and his explanations. She’s trying to save her family bakery by any means possible and he’s a giant distraction.
Sweet romance is just a sub-genre sliver of my overwhelming love for romance in general, and I always know that I’m in store for a wonderful book if Melissa McClone’s name is on the cover. Her interesting storylines and engaging small town characters never disappoint. She’s an auto read for me and A Slice of Summer was just the latest in a long line of great books from this wonderful author.

Taryn has taken over the family bakery however the transition has not been without its challenges. Not only is she completing with a rival bakery but the booth she had designed for the Festival to promote the business is damaged. She is scrambling to finish a new one in time and the one person who can help her is the one person who has been avoiding her for months.

Garrett has returned to be there for his sister as she walks down the aisle but that also means making amends to the woman he had a relationship with until he felt he couldn’t balance her and the other responsibilities in his life. As they spend time together the feelings between them are stronger than ever but will this be their second chance or are they destined for heartbreak once again?

This is a heartwarming story about love, life and family as Taryn and Garrett realize what is truly important in life.

I loved this heartwarming romance that is perfect for the beach, mountains, backyard or anytime you need to escape the everyday stress and enjoy a virtual getaway with a wonderful book that has characters you want to be your friend and a story that will pull you in and keep you wrapped up in all that is happening until you read the last word. I loved the undeniable attraction and chemistry between Tracy Lawson, who is trying to keep the family bakery successful in the small town of Silver Falls and trial attorney Garrett Andrews who comes to town for his sister's wedding. If you enjoy beautifully written sweet and tender romance, you will love "A Slice of Summer" by Melissa McClone; it will leave a smile on your face and joy in your heart. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review. I liked it so much, I purchased a copy to read again.

As far as I am concerned, this is another winner. Garrett and Taryn met in December and after spending a few wonderful days together, Garrett totally ghosted Taryn when he returned home. Although he had a good reason for radio silence at the beginning, he definitely messed up big time. When he returns and acts like they can just pick up where they left off, Taryn is less than impressed. It wasn’t just Garrett ghosting her that was the issue it was also that she had no support from her parents and another bakery was stealing her businesses and ideas. This story has a cast of great characters and an interesting plot line. Of course there is a HEA but this is a must read for anyone who wants a good story working it’s way to that HEA

I really liked this story. A Slice of Summer is a fun read with low angst. Its second chance but with the wonder if it will make it through the murky waters.

I liked Taryn and Garrett. They have a past and one day it was over. No reason why. Just gone. So Taryn is a bit bitter and unforgiving when Garrett is back in town. And she just can't seem to get a break. Garrett is there to help, but can Taryn find it in her heart to give him another chance. That was the part I could not get enough of. The back and forth.

A Slice of Summer is a great weekend or beach read! It sets the summer mood right and you won't be disappointed!

Such a wonderful small town, second chance romance!! Taryn Lawson (runs the family bakery) & Garrett Andrews dated for a couple weeks around Christmas when he was home visiting then he ghosted her. He comes home for a couple weeks in the summer for his sister’s wedding expecting to pick up where they left off. Taryn wasn’t having any of that after he ghosted her & she already had enough going on trying to keep the bakery profitable with a competing bakery in town. He helps her with a project for the bakery to get back in her good graces & spend time with her. He explained why he never called & they get to know each other again. They are both such likable characters & so are the supporting characters. You will love their journey to their HEA & love this book!!

A Slice of Summer was amazing. The plot involved heartbreak, being ghosted, an uncomfortable meeting, a much-needed serious discussion, unusual family dynamics, running into the nemesis, getting the help needed with a project, a major theft, confronting an employee, making amends, falling in love, decisions…decisions, compromising, and making a dream come true. Moreover, Taryn and Garrett, the protagonists, were soulmates and oozed chemistry. I liked how they worked together to make things happen despite mishaps along the way. Additionally, I liked the author’s vivid descriptions including imagery, humor, figurative language, and the perfect word choices that created an encouraging and upbeat tone. Overall, I liked the delightful narrative.

I enjoyed this book, as much as the first one in the series. I liked the small town of Silver Falls with its fun Silver Falls Summer Fair. I also liked the wonderful, warm characters, except for Nick. This story held my attention because there was romance, sadness, mystery, and of course Taryn, the cute baker who wanted to own her family's legacy and Garrett, who was her best friend's brother. I thought it was fun that no one knew they had briefly dated. It was very interesting to see if her dream would come true. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Taryn and Garrett had a sweet fling for two weeks over Christmas. Then he ghosted her. He had his reasons but she was hurt. Now he is back in town for his sister's wedding. Taryn needs help completing her bakery's booth on time. He is the only person available and offering to help. He wants to explain but she doesn't want to hear it. Now as they work together they share each other's dreams and insecurities. They decide to spend as much time together as they can while he is in town. Can they make it work long distance? He needs the city and she needs to run her family bakery...how could it possibly work? Great read.

A Slice of Sunmer

Taryn and Garrett’s story.
A sweet story with a little mayhem tossed in for someone else’s interest.
All the usual suspects are present. You got your boy and your girl who once were, then not, but are again. Then you have the towns busybody slash matchmaker. The “yucko” underhanded former weasel of a friend who now preys on an unsuspecting innocent to get information makes an appearance. Bad guy looses being the “it” factor. Sweet girl ends up smelling like sweet stuff again. A bit of family drama thrown in for good measure. Boy gives in and makes girl’s dream true.
Too predictable.
