The Next End of The World details the recent rediscovery of Earth’s catastrophe cycle. The galaxy and the sun act as the hand and the sword inflicting this catastrophe, punctuating millennia of geology’s slow processes with a solar micro nova, magnetic excursion, and a new age of earth.
I am new to catastrophism and I don’t follow conspiracy theories. I only read this book because I have a friend who recommended and lent it. He is in the process of building an underground bunker and more. My review is from the perspective of a novice in survivalism and prepping. I found the book to be well written. Good grammar with relevant references that one might actually look into. I feel this book is designed to be a short primer in the subject of catastrophism. I think it succeeds in this endeavor. The book introduces its ideas at a layman’s level without overwhelming you with science, but referencing it for further research. I did have to look up some terms it used and didn’t explain enough to satisfy me.
My friend recently spent time at Observer Ranch in Colorado, where the author and like minded people run courses and have formed a community. I visited and found the folks to be friendly and helpful. My friend spent several days there and was extremely impressed.
I am over 60, married and have no kids. I live in Colorado. This book has spurred me to do some basic prepping to last maybe a month without power. I can recommend this book for you to read. It is short and certainly not a waste of time. Make up your own mind and good luck!
