This can't be real. There is no reality where I have... powers? And what do the guys mean when they say I am part of a prophecy? After Gray wakes up following tragedy, she is confused, frightened, and hell, a little bit angry. When the guys tell Gray just how important she is, she loses it. Gray is tired of manipulation. Tired of games. The old Gray let herself be a victim. Allowed herself to be a pawn in the plans of others. Those bones have been broken, scars have been formed, and the new Gray refuses to revisit that pain ever again. But when an enemy comes for her, Gray finds herself alone and once again her life hangs in the balance as someone else calls the shots. After they tell Gray the truth about who they are, where they are from, and the destiny that lies before her, the guys are beyond shocked when Gray demands space, pushing them away from her at every turn. This isn't right. They are her guardians, hand chosen to protect her and keep her aligned with the path that leads to peace. How are they supposed to do that when she won't even let them in the same room? Not to mention, now that the igniting has taken place, their bonds are stronger, leaving them all desperate to be with the one their lives are bonded to. When Gray goes missing, the guys have to put aside their own pain and focus on saving the woman they can't live without, even if she doesn't accept their love yet. They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and the truest strength, comes from pain. Gray is about to find out just how much she can break and, in turn, how much she wants to survive. If she is going to bring about the prophecy she is destined for, she is going to have to ensure she is strong enough to conquer those who oppose her. Sometimes, we have to feel the burn of the flames before we can conquer the fire within.
Holy wow. Can I just say that you’re not ready for this. I laughed, cried, and giggled during this book. The trauma that Gray has had in her life colors this book. She’s trying to move past it, but it colors her interactions with the boys, her ability to believe in herself, and leads to bouts of depression.
She’s finding out a lot about her past in this book, and what her future is supposed to hold. She pushes the guys all away, because they lied. And the way that the guys inserted themselves into her lives makes her feel like she was manipulated and then being trapped into a future that she isn’t prepared for. Add to that an epic kidnapping and attack, and cue all of the feels. EJ is writing an epic series, and this book is another step into how incredible Gray is evolving into being.
Gray is growing into her powers very quickly, and she fears that it will change who she is and that her powers will make her evil. Add to that the prophesy that warns of her powers, and life just got very complicated. Get ready, buckle up, and grab your tissues. You’re going to need them!
Gray, the FMC, feels the guys in a connection she just does not understand. But little makes sense, she somehow willed her brother back to life. The guys have known since the last book she is their intended, she completes them. The MMC’s are Reid, Mitch, Dean, Chance, Rip, and then there is Finn. Finn is not part of the guys and they are still not happy with him hanging around Gray. The guys are trying to be patient with Gray as she learns she has powers, and slowly starts to accept it. As her guardians they are connected on a deeper level than even she seems to understand. The tension is there and is more of a slow burn spice to these relationships. The darkness and trouble that caused the house fire in book 1 is still after Gray, and now that she has her powers it wants her even more. There are several twists and secrets revealed that make this story intriguing. I think being able to connect with her mother and speak to her in times of need, is my favorite part. These characters are growing and the world created in this series is going to be a great one I feel. The book is good, and I can't wait to see where it leads to yet again.
Princess Princess come out with your Powers Activated....
Okay im going to be blunt and I'm going to need you to stay with me for the whole thing here....
I was basically mad the whole 1st half of the book. Mad at Gray, mad at the boys, mad at EJ, you name it I was probably mad at it. This thing with Finn has got to stop... or my heart won't beat anymore. These boys are literally her lifeline her soul and she is hurting them. I am just not okay with that. It's hurting me.
Gray is still immature to me. Yes she has had a tragic past but she is letting her past trauma affect her present and future by making rash decision before actually thinking them through and it was infuriating. Le had a good point when they were talking about the box and I was like "FINALLY."
The story was written well as you can see from my feelings and how deep they are rooted. I'm hopefully book 3 will be the changing point in the story 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 I'd be 5 stars but Finn is still around and that plot line is still there and it's hurting my boys...
Wow! So many emotions ran through me while reading this book. It is so well-written!! We find out more of the abuses suffered by Charlie and Gray while they were in foster care. They suffered another loss at the end of book 1 and the fallout from the Gram’s death factors in book 2. She is kidnapped in this book and without giving much away, what she goes through is graphically detailed, so heed the trigger warnings at the start of the book. Gray is at odds with her guardians throughout most of this book. It was hard to read at points because the author writes such wonderful characters! All those emotions the characters are feeling are easily transferred to us as readers. Fingers crossed for a HEA for Gray and her guardians in the next book!!
The second book in the Ignited Girl Series, Igniting the Flame was even better than book 1, which was also amazing. This one just had so much action and adventure, more emotion, and it was just. So. Freaking. Great!
EJ Everette is an awesome storyteller and you are really able to watch the movie build in your imagination, especially the entire second half (which is extremely dramatic) - I don't find that happens with very many books I read, but I was truly watching this happen as a movie. OH, what a great movie (series) this would be!
These characters are all very well developed, and I have fallen in love with them all. I almost (ALMOST) wish I could be there and part of that world - except for, you know, the torture! Maybe be a character like Leanne who is separate from that side of things, but still get to enjoy the Guardians.
There was a spectacular quote I took note of, that I especially loved: "I am not going to sit around and wait to be rescued. I am a Mother* Goddess, and I will do my own rescuing thank you very much. At least... I'm going to try." Brilliant! (*I removed the F word from the quote for the review to pass muster)
And - why do you have to end your books this way. I think you're going to kill me (probably all of your readers)! I still love you, but please don't do that to me in the next one. I don't think I'll be able to survive the emotional rollercoaster!
The only thing I wanted to note that some could take offence to is that there is an awful lot of swearing. I swear a ton in my life and I even found there to be an unnecessary amount - could have been scaled back by about half. It seems our dear EJ's favorite word is the S-word! It must appear 500 times (no, I didn't count)!
This is the second book in the series and it picks up right where book one left off. You will go through a rollercoaster of emotions with Grey and her guys in this one. Grey accepts the fact that she has powers and is determined to learn more about herself. She is mad at her men for keeping things from her so she wants to do this on her own. Grey goes through a lot of trauma but never gives up and only comes out stronger. I feel that we will see great things from this remarkable woman. I loved that we get to know more about Chance in this book. I can't wait to find out even more about the guys. EJ Everett has once again written an an amazing story and left us with a huge cliffhanger. Can't wait to read book three!
OMG I love this book, I read it in one night, I couldn't stop. One you start reading you can stop crying, laughing, it is like a huge Rollercoaster of feelings, the love and emotional side of this book is woaw.
Laughing, crying, all the feels! When Gray wakes up, it’s just ah! It’s emotional. This story will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. She pushes the guys away since they deceived her, plus she’s in complete denial. She’s depressed. She doesn’t want powers, she doesn’t want the guys, she just wants Finn and her friends. At least that’s what she tells herself. Eventually she gives into the fact that the guys at the very least have more information and she will have to speak with them. Gray learns more about her past in this book. I was hoping for a couple sexy scenes, but this is a sloooow burn. All the emotional turmoil makes up for that though. It was well written. The story itself is a little hard because I’m not sure what is going to happen with Finn, but it needs to happen now. I hate that everyone gets dragged along on this ride and are hurting. I am excited for the next book to see what happens. I think we will be getting started with a whole new chapter of their lives. 🖤
Well can't say I wasn't warned by EJ that this book was gonna be darker and she was right. Gray is told by the guys who she is to them but she isn't having any of it. I mean powers? Gray doesn't think so but once she is kidnapped she starts to see it and is afraid of what the future may hold. This book is a rollercoaster for your feelings. It has it all and on that note I can't wait for more by EJ Everette. She's done such an amazing job on writing the series so far that I highly recommend it!
I have one word to describe this book and it's Phenomenal. Grey was on fire... literally!
I loved reading more about Chance and seeing his character develop more throughout the story. Same with Grey's new understanding of her real past and her destiny.
I wish all the best for Grey, Rip, Reid, Mitch, Dean, and Chance. As they all work together, will they get through to the end?
Okay so Author EJ Everette literally had emotions all over the place. I could feel everything Grey was going through her sadness, her pain, her heartfelt love for guys all of it. This was a true emotional roller coaster. I absolutely loved book 1 but book two brought us to a whole other level of greatness. Grey is such a unique character she is not your average kind of girl no she is strong independent but still wants/needs the comfort of her 5 guardians aka The Hotties!!! I was so happy that we got to dig deeper into Chase in this book because let me tell you I really did want to throttle me in book 1. Grey really did have so much growth in book 2 watching her come into who she is supposed to be and her connection to all the guys was beautiful and I cannot wait to see where this series takes us because I fell like we are only scratching the surface. We were left on a cliffy once again that had me left with my eyes bugging out like what the heck is happening right now!!!! I am going to be impatiently waiting for the next one. I highly recommend this series! If you haven’t started it yet you 100% should.
Wow this book just stepped it up a level. Grey her guardians are back. The emotions that this brings out are something else. The book left of on a cliffhanger. I can't wait for book three.
Gray is healing and dealing with the events at the end of book 1. I loved that we learned a lot about Gray, her origins, and her powers. I love how protective they guys are, but they also still gives her the space she needs. I love the friendships she has with Leanne and Tanner - they rock! I’m torn about Finn. I can’t wait to see what happens next for Gray and her crew :)
“Igniting The Flame” is book two in the series and is even better than the first one. Gray is trying to overcome the trauma she received in the first book. She also feels deceived by the guys for not giving her all the information about who she is and who they are to her. I really love that she didn’t just forgive them and fall in love immediately. When Gray and Chance are kidnapped we get to learn more about Chance and just how he feels about Gray. If you like a slow burn reverse harem full of drama and heroes protecting their princess, then you will absolutely love this book!
Igniting the Flame is book 2 in the series, a d must be read in order.
I could not wait to jump back into Gray’s world! We start out with Gray having to recover from a tragedy. The pain, the heart wrenching helplessness is a lot, but when secrets are revealed, Gray immediately knows the far fetched tales are true, though she still struggles with the deceit from her friends. A lifeline to her past reaches out to her just in time for the world to turn upside down and inside out. Gray has to deal with literal torture, as she struggles to figure out who she is. Once she taps into who she really is, she uncovers the connections she has to her Guardians, and proves how much of a bada$$ she really is!
This book is slow burn, the heat is low because she’s just figuring out her role in life. Be prepared for the long haul, because I can tell the heat turn scalding soon. The cliffhanger, while not about danger, is pretty d@mn rough. I yelled when I read it, and almost threw my phone! I cannot WAIT until the next book!!
I just love Gray. Love this series so far. The drama her and her men go through is a lot. She always conquers anything put in front of her. Couldn't put the book down till the end.
After Gray ignited eventually, it was time for the guys to explain her everything about the prophecy, why they were on Earth, where did they come from, what was their mission, etc. Needless to say that everything went wrong🙄 Between the feeling of betrayal triggering Gray's PTSD and Chance being a douchebag, she rejected them all. The guys still watched Gray from afar, concerning about her security. Their fear was well-founded because Gray and Chance ultimately were kidnapped. A good thing for Chance who had time to think about his behaviour🙄 and even ignited! At the end of the book, we understood that Gray's life will change drastically. Is she ready for this? What about the sweet but sometime awkward Finn? Charlie? Well, we have to wait for the next volume!
That was one heck of a roller coaster for me emotionally. I love the guardians so much. All five of them are equally sexy and so different. Book two let me get to know Chase on a more spiritual level, and I adore his protectiveness. Grey and her quirkiness still makes me laugh, not just with the way she talks but also her thought process some times. I felt her anger, pain, love, and sadness. This book is so well written that you can feel the emotions, whether it’s happiness or anguish, you feel it in your souls. I had lots of laughs during this book, but I also had my heart ripped out for awhile. Looking forward to how they handle their newest challenge in the next book.
I knew Chance would be my favorite guy. Knew it from book 1. He definitely is and I refuse the idea of anymore harm coming to the precious cinnamon roll 😭😭 Book 2. What to say? Oh right. THE STORYLINE IS SO F-IN GOOD I SWEAR!!!!!💯💯💯💯 Again little to no steam and again the story and the emotions makes this so worth the slow burning of this plot. The surprises in this one were really good and completely unexpected. We get more back story on some of what Gray has been through..and it's brutal. Of course, she has to go through even more painful trials thus time and we get to formally meet the big bad too, but we also find out some rather juicy details and I cannot wait to dive into book 3 which I am doing..right now actually!!😉 Be sure to check this book out before book 3 releases!! You don't want to stop a good story before it even gets fully started, right?!?💪💪💪💪 Man I'm addicted. 😋😋
This series is fast becoming one of my all time favourites. Full of emotion, its such a great read. Grey has to confront a lot of truths in this book and her guardians are so patient with her. I'm dying to see how the Finn situation resolves itself!! And what a way to end a book!! Tease 😁
Omg! Like . . . Im so upset! This cliffy!! Wow. I have no adjectives to describe the hurt I have right now. All I can say for book two is get ready for a wild ride. Gray and her guys go to Hell and back. But do they really come back? EJ Everette! You have some explaining to do.
Ahhh I can’t believe it took me so long to read this series.
I am completely hooked and desperate for more. I just couldn’t put this book down and have read it at every opportunity I could.
This is a slow burn series but oh my god the world building and the character development and to be honest everything that goes on in the book means you just don’t even notice there is no smut just yet.
I am super excited for book 3 and can’t wait to see what happens next.
Not as good as the first a lot more plot than character or relationship development and the plot is pretty standard. The will they won't they is also starting to rreeaaallyy drag normally the slow burn helps to build up tension but if you don't keep it topped up with the little moments it just kinda fizzles out. I might read Book 3 when it comes out to see if I can be drawn in again.
To follow up with book #1 review, uhmmm.... Yes? More male action and points of view?! Sign. Me. Up. Dudes. 😁😂 I love that we get to dive deeper and get to fall in love with the characters more in book 2. I just... *chef's kiss* adore book #2. ❤️🔥 IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW. GO READ IT. *taps on paperback copy* Get to it!
This series is quite intriguing, and I’m loving the worldbuilding that the author is doing. Looking forward to seeing what happens with the characters next.
