This series kept getting better and better with each book, and the finale is close to perfection. Looking for a bit of action? An enemies to lovers romance with lots of tension? A high school story? You’ll find everything and more in this book.
We got to meet Kane briefly in the previous book. Here, we learn how he and Valentina became acquainted, as well as Val’s friendship with Reyna, the daughter of cartel boss Vargas. You can say that there’s an ongoing enemies to friends subplot between the two girls. They’re also an interesting entry to explore the various family dynamics in the book–Val’s, Reyna’s, but also Kane’s.
There’s some high school drama, the main characters being teenagers. The rivalries, the clans, the bullying, even some teaching stuff. Because of the age factor, don’t expect too much sexiness in this book. There’s plenty of attraction though, and obviously some sexual tension. I really enjoyed the building of Val and Kane’s relationship.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but let’s just say that you’ll get some surprises along the way. At least, you won’t get bored, and the book’ll keep you guessing. With more than two point of views, you’ll get a whole lot more than just Val and Kane’s story. Well rounded characters, a beautiful romance–or two–, some mysteries, a bit of action… Perfect enemies, perfect mafia romance!

PERFECT ENEMIES was a perfectly written romance!! I adored every second of it as it went from enemies to lovers in a wonderfully crafted slow burn that only this author can do. But it wasn’t just the romance that ignited between both Val and Kane. We also got a double dose story with Reyna and Santino. And it was brilliant. The whole story was.
I wasn’t sure how it would all go down with Val still being in high school. Would we get a much tamer story compared to the others in the series? Or would Ramsower keep the flow and steam going as if age wasn’t a number? Yeah it was the latter and it was everything I knew it would be. She never lets me down with her stories.
Another must read book added in to this amazing, must read series. PERFECT ENEMIES was forbidden romance and edge of your seat intrigue all rolled up in to a delicious read. A book I only put down to sleep before devouring early the next morning. All the Stars!

⚠️ The story ⚠️
The book is about Valentina and Reyna, two seventeen year olds in high school. They are not your ordinary teens - their families are both involved in the cartel/maffia, which makes their lives interesting to say the least.
I'm a sucker for maffia romance, and this one did not disappoint. Going into the story, I felt like I missed some information about the characters, like we should already know all about Reyna and Val's families. This might be the case, since I realized this is book 6 in this series. It didn't really bother me though, basically everything was explained at some point. Of course there were some side characters mentioned that weren't really explained - like Val's sisters - but I'm guessing that there are books about them, that will answer all of my questions. Throughout the book, I had all kinds of theories about who Kane was, but I'm glad to say that I was mistaken in basically all my theories. What I also liked about the story, is the fact that we didn't just get Val and Kane chapters, but also chapters from Reyna and Santino's point of view! At first I didn't really like that as much, but I got quite invested in their relationship as well. Props to the author for the bonus scene, I loved reading that so much! He
I did feel like the fact that was dropped really out of nowhere? I mean, there was no lead up, it was just like 'hey, I don't know, it just felt weird to me and a little bit unnecessary. I'm guessing it'll be another spin-off book or something?

🎹Val and Kane🏍️
I loved these two so much. Their interactions were great in my opinion, and I loved the development of their relationship. I always love revenge plots, so I was giggling like a school girl at Val's revenge. I must say that I'm very happy about the fact that his real name was still Kane - because I could not have lived with him being called George XD They were really cute together, and I loved reading about their struggles with each other and their situations.
Also, very important question, what does 'stargazing at midnight' smell like? XD It's apparently what Kane smells like but I don't have a clue what to imagine there lol.
🧸Reyna and Santino👥
I wasn't as invested in these two as I was in Val and Kane, but I still wanted them to end up together. I somehow don't really like Reyna as a character, it's not that I hate her, but I also don't really love her. I don't know, it had nothing to do with how she was written or anything like that, I somehow just saw her as quite weak - even though Santino kept saying how strong she was. I don't know why I felt that way, I just did. I feel like I still don't really know both Reyna and Santino as characters, because they didn't get as much time to shine as Val and Kane. I don't really mind, because I loved Val and Kane, but I just would've liked to see a little more of Rey and Santino as characters. Like I said, I loved the bonus scene, which was a perfect ending to their story in my opinion!

I really enjoyed this book! It was such an easy read, with likeable and relatable characters. I definitely recommend this book if you want to read a cute romance with some heated scenes ;)
I think I'll just go and read the rest of the series now.

I am not usually a fan of mafia romances (or at least not yet), but I am still intrigued by the whole concept and am definitely open to try out books from the genre to find that that will convince me that the genre is as good as everyone says, So when I found 'Perfect enemies' it was a chance I couldn't miss, especially since I was interested by the blurb.
First things first, this was not like I expected it to be. The mafia part of the story felt kinda minor compared to other things, like the fact that it takes place in a high school setting (so no adult romance here) and everything that comes with a book with teenagers instead of grown-ups. The story wasn't as heavy as the few others mafia romances I've read, which was nice considering I was more in the mood for a lighter read this time.
I loved the friendship between Valentina and Reyna, and loved seeing them caring for each other despite the "feud" (if you can call it that) between their families. Val and Kane was meant to be the main relationship, buuut the side love story between Reyna and Santino peaked my interest more. I was not expecting the book to have four PoVs but it definitely added more to the story that way and I related a lot to Reyna and her self when we got her side of the story.
There were a few things I did not like as much and they are all related to Val and Kane's relationship. It felt kind of rushed and not as much 'enemies to lovers' as I first thought it would be since the title literally includes the word 'enemies'. Also some of the facts we get to know about Kane further into the story, made me give them the side eye. I will leave it at that so I don't spoil the book.
Despite that I fell more for the side love story than the main one, and that it didn't really include as much mafia stuff (you know what I mean) than I wanted it to, this was still an enjoyable read and I recommend it to anyone who wants a lighter read with a little bit of the mafia trope included (emphasis on little) and a good plot to keep it all interesting.
On a last note, the ending with Connor and his connections to the Irish mob?? I WANT HIS BOOK

This was such a wonderful read! Definitely not your typical high school bully romance. The story was definitely original, well written, and had lots of twists and turns. It was a slow burn, but it definitely didn’t lack for steam and the build up between Valentina and Kane was smokin’. Despite her attraction to Kane, Val knows somethings off with him and that it centers around her friend Reyna. She’s relentless in both her search for answers as well as her loyalty to her friend - going full mama bear to protect her. I love how Kane recognizes the “warrior queen” inside Valentina and both respects her for it and wants her because of it. He’s willing to do what he must to make it so he can be with her. Reyna also gets her own story within Perfect enemies with two additional POVs, putting a nice bow on the whole tale. I can’t wait to see where Jill goes next!

Chemistry was happening during political science class. There was such intense chemistry between Valentina and Kane in their shared political science class along with their other shared moments in Perfect Enemies! Kane and Valentina give Matteo and Maria from Blood Always some serious competition for couple with more explosive chemistry. I personally can’t decide which couple from these two books by Jill Ramsower would win. She’s such a talented writer for building chemistry.
With this book, there is a special side plot. Reyna, Valentina’s best friend shares her point of view. I highlighted a sentence from this character’s viewpoint that perfectly describes loneliness. In many ways, she’s the opposite of Valentina. Their differences complement each other and make them the best of best friends. I love the fierceness that Valentina uses to protect Reyna. Reyna’s home life isn’t the best. She’s trying to experience as much as she can in her senior year while her father is away temporarily. She and Valentina fear her father’s return. Reyna also finds out someone is watching her.
There were moments I really didn’t like Kane. The reasons I didn’t like him were cleared up by the end of the book. He is worthy of being patient for and forgiveness. It also helps that Valentina has a feisty side that shows up during some of these moments that I’m not so fond of Kane.
Santino is a secondary character in this book that stole my heart. His viewpoint is also shared. His actions at the end of this book amazed me. I loved his protective nature.
Perfect Enemies’ interesting plot included a twist I didn’t see coming. The different points of view in this book flowed together well. The only negative thing about this book in my opinion is that it is the last book of The Five Families Series. Although I would really love to continue to read more in this series, this book is a great conclusion to the series. The bonus chapter that I downloaded and read softened the blow of knowing this was the last book of the series. I loved the bonus chapter, especially the steamy scene. I can’t wait to read what Jill Ramsower writes next.

I've enjoyed every one of Jill Ramsower's The Five Families series. I'm only sad that with Valentina and Kane, we've come to the end. This book is slightly different from the previous ones as it starts with our main characters Valentina and Kane in high school. I'm not usually a fan of books with such young people, but this one worked quite well.
Although Kane is doing his best not to fall for Valentina, to try and avoid her, it's obvious from the moment that they meet they are going to end up together. Valentina knows that there's something about him that just doesn't ring true, but she also knows that he's worth getting to know.
Another aspect of this book that I really enjoyed was that it wasn't just about Kane and Valentina. This book is dripping in sexual tension! Not one, but two romances unfolding between lies, deceit and constant guessing who is a friend and who’s the enemy. Kane and Val, as well as Reyna and Santino, brought into this story a lot of angst, suspense and sizzling chemistry!
Despite the fact that this part of the series takes place in a slightly different setting than the previous books, it certainly cannot be denied the mafia vibe. Jill Ramsower did a great job with delivering danger, action and the thrill, despite the younger age of the main characters. The girls were fantastic (though polar opposites. Their friendship is simply amazing), the guys were totally swoon-worthy and they both oozed unforced sexappeal. I was completely engrossed with all the riddles and developing love stories that were blooming in the world full of secrets, surprises and shocking twists.
My only complaint? I’m sad that this is the last book in the series. The Five Families was a real rollercoaster of emotions and I became attached to the Genovese sisters, their other halves and all the secondary characters we met throughout the series. I’m looking forward to see what else

While this story threw me a couple of times, I think this the perfect end for this series. And, dare I hope, maybe the bridge to the start of a new one? Kane had so much going on that it was easy to dislike him at first glance. He was arrogant, rude, condescending, and had the makings of a supremely mean bully for Valentina, but then cracks started forming and the picking at his facade revealed so much more to him. As for Valentina, she was the epitome of protector and friend. She tried to squelch any bad feelings if Kane truly wanted Reyna, but she was also more than ready to burn everything down if he wasn’t genuine in his intentions. Add in the tangled ball of yarn that is Javier and Santino’s involvement and I didn’t want this book to end.
This all worked out in the best way it possibly could have and it was amusing to see that Valentina and Kane didn’t hide anywhere near as well as they thought they did from everyone around them. I hope to see more of them if or when Connor’s introduction leads to a new bunch of not-so-pristine, but absolutely wonderful, people to meet.

I have read all of Jill’s books and this is another story of the family in the five families, an amazing mafia series! Val and Kane’s story along with Rey and Santino’s side story is simmering, intertwined, lots of twists and bends that you don’t see coming! The story is well thought out, the characters so well written you invest in them and their lives, the descriptions of emotion, time, places suck you in and make you live and breathe the story. Being honest when it started with Val and Rey in their senior year of high school I knew I would enjoy the story, Jill wrote it after all, but wasnt sure it would rank with the others in this series for me because of the age and school factor. However, I was wrong and it quickly captivated and intrigued and kept me fully involved to the end and is another perfect story for the Genovese family! Outstanding once again Jill Ramsower! Hoping we get to see a little more of Connor and thanks for the extended chapter on Rey and Santino!

Perfect Enemies is a thrilling ride! From start to finish you don’t know who to trust and where alliances lie!
This book was exciting and had me on edge the whole book! I loved the push and pull between Kane and Valentina! Their chemistry was off the charts but you knew there were secrets being kept and WOW you will be blown away when all is revealed!
This is my first book by this author and now I’m intrigued about this world and want to go back and read the rest of the books! I can assure that you will enjoy this book without having read any of the others!

I am going to date myself by saying this, but this book had me feeling like I was watching the old TV show, 21 Jumpstreet, with Johnny Depp when he was undercover. That is not a bad thing. I just was not expecting it to be set in High school age for these characters.
That being said, there were two stories within this one. The main one, featuring Valentina and Kane, and a second one was Reyna and Santino. I liked that. Especially, as I was confused at first wondering how Rey was going to factor into this story. It was nice to see this pan out.
That being said, I was not expecting the high school setting. It was apparent at times that these were younger characters in their actions and behaviors. That is something that I struggle with and why I generally do not read books that are this age group. I just based wanting to read this off of the blurb and didn't realize the age at the time because I was thinking New Adult would be college age. However, saying that, I still will say that I did enjoy parts of the story and that the author did an exceptional job at crafting a story. There is no mistaking that she is very good at what she does. I have read the other stories in this series and enjoyed them because of how gifted a writer she is.
I would still recommend this book, even though it was not my favorite to anyone looking for a good book.

I enjoyed this new adult enemies to lovers romance set in the mafia world. There's a fresh take on the often used high school romance genre that brought originality to the concept. I really enjoyed Kane's character, though Val was harder for me to connect with. Their chemistry was great, though there was a lot of push and pull and it often felt like Val was the pursuer in the relationship. There's a side plot going on with Val's best friend and we get two additional POVs. That's the part that a lot of people will enjoy but, for me, that took away from the main couple. However, the side plot was well done and entertaining, so that's just a matter of my personal preference. Overall, the book certainly kept me entertained and I would read more from the author.

I loved this book! It was the epitome of mixed tropes. There's enemies to lovers, fake identity, mafia, and found family. The humour and the romance were so well written and I was immersed in the plotline. It was an easy and light standalone feel type of read. I don't normally enjoy multiple POVs but the author had made it so easy and clear to understand. There was no repetition and clear pronounces of who's talking without giving much away. Each character was distinct in their own way. It was my first book from this author but I definitely feel like I'm going to come back for more. In the end, I enjoyed this book and give it a solid 4.5 stars.

If I could rate this book higher I would. This is one phenomenal book. I absolutely loved it. I fell in love with all of the characters in this story, they all played their part so very well. Wow Valentina and Kane, can you imagine them as a couple, a smoking hot hottie and a girl that doesn't take crap off of anyone. Then you have Reyna that is a complete sweetheart. I loved Valentina's protectiveness of Reyna. There are so many moving parts of this book that if you say too much you spoil it for others. So let me say this is the perfect book. You will absolutely love the ending, and the beginning and the middle, well ok the whole entire book. I absolutely did not want it to end.

Perfect Enemies us book six in the Five Families series and is Valentina and Kane's book. I absolutely loved this book. Usually these books take me two days to read but not this one. This book had me sucked in from the beginning. The most interesting thing about this book is that you get the POV of everyone involved in this story and not just the main characters. Jill Ramsower us one of my favorite go-to authors a a I can't wait to see what's next from her.

Perfect Enemies was unique and just different than all the others in this series and I honestly don't have a single bad thing to say! The tone and flow throughout this read was perfection. I am seriously sad that this series is ending because it is one of my absolute favorites! But let me tell you! Jill Ramsower takes us out with a BANG!

This was the second book I've read in this series (I'm not reading them in order but that's okay) and I loved being back in the world of the Genovese family!
I previously read Giada's story, and it's safe to say Valentina is just as kickass as her older sister. She was spunky, feisty and fiercely indepent, just the way I like it! Her and Kane are utter perfection.
At first I didn't like the chapters from Reyna and Santino but I started rooting for them by the end anyway!
This was the second book I've read in this series (I'm not reading them in order but that's okay) and I loved being back in the world of the Genovese family!

I love how this book has two love stories ... Valentina and Kane AND Reyna and Santino ... an added bonus! It warms my heart that both Kane and Santino are smitten with Valentina and Reyna from the first time they meet. ❤️ Valentina is strong, but Reyna has been beaten down by her father one too many times. This book had me on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns and trying to guess who are the good guys and who are the bad guys.
Valentina is a mob princess and her best friend Reyna is a cartel princess ... which means their families are enemies. Reyna's father is an evil man even to his own daughter, so Valentina vows to help her escape. In their last semester of high school, a new student (Kane) walks into class one day and even though he can't take his eyes off Valentina, his questions are all about Reyna. Kane is very secretive about his life ... but then Valentina and Reyna have secrets as well. The only one who doesn't have secrets is Santino. This is a great addition to the series.

To start things out, I must mention that I am a horrible reader when there are multiple POVs. There were four POVs in this book, and at times I got frustrated with myself because I was getting confused when others wouldn’t have.
While this may be possibly the last installment of the Five Families, but you never really know! Valentina is the youngest cousin and is only 17, but don’t count her as weak. Val's fierce protectiveness for Reyna was nice to read, and I felt every bit of it. Reyna is a lucky girl to have Val as her friend and confidante. Kane is not who you may think he is, and there were more than a few times I was wrong about him! Happy to know he is one of the good ones.

Perfect Enemies is the 6th installment in the Five Families standalone, interconnected series. This story is complete standalone, but I always highly recommend reading the previous books to ensure you are up to date on some behind the scenes aspects (plus they are all soooo good).
I think with each book in this series, I liked it more and more.

Valentina was part of a mob family and knew who she was. She wanted to protect her best friend Reyna at all cost. While we learned about each mob family we also learned about who was trying to get more information about them in a different way. Valentina and Kane should’ve not been together but they were very much drawn together. While their love story was the main story, Reyna’s and Santino’s was just as lovely. As the story and premise to this was very entertaining, the beginning and middle of this book unfortunately dragged out for me. I would Definitely give this author another chance because I really enjoyed the characters.

Pleased the four characters were combined into one book and that all loose end were tied up. Solid 3 stars for this one. Much better than the previous one.

LOVED this book, and this series and I’m so depressed it’s over! Kane and were my favourite couple so far.
This series is interesting, because as each book passes I’m finding the mafia stories being less and less mafia. Like, the first few involved the typical mafia guys, and now it’s stories about the children still in high school. Noting this though, it makes this series stand out above other mafia series. It’s very diverse in its stories, and we don’t fall into the same traps as most mafia stories.
Take this series. Age gap (though unknown at the time) within a school setting. But I loved the secrets, the storyline, the angst. The romance was so on point and the scenes were hot. Even after truth was revealed, it went exactly as I hoped.
Combined into this book is another romance story, and at first I didn’t feel anything, but after a few chapters about them, I was there for it! There’s a bonus scene the author released, featuring just them. She also commented on her debate of making a novella for just them but left it incorporated into this series. Though she addressed it and gave her rationale, the fan girl in me still wished she wrote the novella because, well, wow. Loved their budding romance too.

This is the sixth and final book in "The Five Familes" series and written a bit different than the previous books. I'm giving this book 4.5 stars.
Valentina and Reyna are seniors at the very privileged Xavier Catholic School. The two girls are best friends and inseparable but are taking a chance being friends as Valentina's father is the head of the Mafia and Reyna's father is the head of the Cartel and deadly enemies. New student Kane invades and evolves himself in both girls lives. Valentina is suspicious of Kane from the beginning, calling him a manipulator and master con artist but that doesn't stop her from feeling a connection she hasn't felt from anyone else before. Who is Kane??? This book keeps you guessing until close to the end along with all the other intrigue. A very good ending to this series.

I enjoyed the audiobook.
I did enjoy that the writer mixed it up a bit with two stories in one in this book, however because of this it was very rushed and you don’t really get much of the second story.
I feel a bit like the series started off really well but went downhill towards the end.

Whoo hoo, when I saw the cover of the last part of The Five Families series, I had to request it of course. Because after Giada (Impossible odds) and Camilla (Absolute silence) the last Genovese sister would get her own story.
Although Valentina is only seventeen years old, she is a proper Genovese badass girl. At Xavier High, she has taken Reyna under her wing, who was bullied by the other high school kids. But true Romeo and Juliet style: Reyna is the daughter of Vargas, the drug cartel leader and enemy of Val's mafia father.
So Val and Reyna keep their friendship hidden. When a new hot guy arrives on the scene, Val feels the need to protect Reyna from his avances. Whenever Kane tries to talk to Reyna, the irritating-but gorgeous- pitbull Val is there. There are sparks flying everywhere, but Val seems to hate his guts. Val doesn't know what to think of the mysterious bad boy Kane. Is he hitting on Reyna? Then why does it feels like Kane is flirting with her? Or could he be sent by Reyna's cruel father to keep an eye on her? In any case: Val doesn't want him near Reyna. And Kane can't take a hint. Hilarious banter, twists and turns and sparks are flying. As always with Jill Ram so wer e a total awesome read.
