The first ten book in series & a surprise bonus book

------------------------------------
BOOK 1. Pancakes and Corpses
------------------------------------
Soon to be divorced Julia South never expected to be caught up in solving a murder, until she discovered the body of her cafe's most awkward customer. With a new smug Detective Inspector in town who underestimates her every move, Julia makes it her mission to discover the real murderer, before her village friends are dragged into the frame, and more bodies are discovered.

---------------------------------
BOOK 2. Lemonade and Lies
---------------------------------
When the entire village is invited to a garden party for a mysterious ‘special announcement’, nobody expected that party to end with a man being thrown to his death from a window. The murder is committed at Julia South’s estranged father’s manor, so all eyes in Peridale turn to her to solve the case. In a race against the clock, Julia must juggle her blossoming romance with Detective Inspector Brown, and her young lodger, Jessie’s, sudden strange behaviour, to uncover the truth behind the man’s untimely death. With members of her own family in the frame, will Julia like what she discovers?

----------------------------------------
BOOK 3. Doughnuts and Deception
----------------------------------------
Julia never expected to be caught up in another murder investigation, but when she discovers that homeless people are dying suspiciously and the police aren't investigating, she can't sit back and do nothing. After promising her young lodger, Jessie, that she will do everything she can to help, Julia finds herself diving headfirst into the case, aided by her new Detective Inspector boyfriend, Barker. Sure there is a serial killer preying on the vulnerable residents of an old burnout warehouse, Julia must act quickly to get to the bottom of the mystery, but can she crack the case before more bodies turn up?

-----------------------------------------
BOOK 4. Chocolate Cake and Chaos
-----------------------------------------
A funeral wreath is delivered to Barker’s cottage. Is it a prank, or a grim warning? Julia’s fears that somebody is trying to kill Barker are confirmed when a dead body with a striking resemblance to him is found on his doorstep the very next day, just as their romance is deepening. Barker might be on temporary suspension from his role as Detective Inspector at the village police station, but that doesn’t mean he’s short of enemies in Peridale, especially when a dark face from his past arrives in the small village to stir up painful memories.

------------------------------------
BOOK 5. Shortbread and Sorrow
------------------------------------
When Julia’s gran, Dot, wins an all-inclusive spa trip to Scotland, Julia finds it difficult to refuse the offer of a relaxing week away from her café. Along with her sister, Sue, they pack up her tiny vintage car and drive all the way from Peridale to Seirbigh Castle, ready to be pampered. The last thing Julia expected was to be caught up in another murder investigation, but when the cruel owner of the family-run spa, Henry McLaughlin, is shot dead, she can’t resist ditching the facemasks and massages in favour of cracking the case.

Julia quickly befriends the young cook and talented-baker, Blair, and acquires a job in the kitchen so she can observe the strange family in the wake of the murder. Henry’s wife and children are acting suspicious, and with an incompetent young Detective Inspector on the case, Julia makes it her mission to discover the secrets held within the ancient walls before Seirbigh Castle claims another victim.

------------------------------------
BOOK 6. Espresso and Evil
------------------------------------
When a coffee shop opens in the village, Julia is surprised when her customers flock to the new business, leaving her café almost empty. A failed protest against the corporate chain store leaves Julia wondering if her café can survive, but she suddenly has bigger fish to fry when the owner of the coffee shop is poisoned, and she is framed for his murder.

As Julia attempts to clear her name, she is stopped in her tracks when an unwanted familiar face arrives in Peridale. Her past and present crash together, threatening to jeopardise her blossoming relationship with Barker. Julia's history is back to haunt her, and she is forced to deal with the consequences of her actions before it is too late. Somebody is trying to frame Julia for her rival's murder, but can she juggle her most challenging case yet with her complicated love life before she loses more than just her café?

I loved this series. I bought the box set of 10 after reading the sample... I couldn't wait to read more. The characters are believable, they are not all perfect and that's what I love about these books. The adventures Julia and her cohorts get up to are, at times, hilarious. On the flip side, there are mysteries to solve from the tantalising clues. Agatha has a great way of describing people and locations so I can picture each scene. Apart from all the murders, Peridale is a place I would like to live in. Have now bought books 11, 12 and 13, and hoping no. 14 isn't too far away!
My only wish was that at the end of each book there were recipes of some of the featured bakes!

Great Reading

What great fun this series is to read. The characters are engaging and the storyline involving. Once you start a story, you just want to keep reading. These are cozy mysteries, so no blood and gore but certainly intriguing. Our leading lady, Julia, is likeable and smart, and even though life hasn't been kind, she is moving forward albeit slowly. It is fun to watch Julia's life grow and change, thankfully she it not perfect. The village has an array of quirky characters but none, through good writing, are ridiculous. Our author has certainly channelled a little of her namesake with twists and turns. Perfect for a cold, rainy day read.

You will fall in love with the characters and the small Eng!ish Village of Parkdale after reading the first book in the series. All the characters are full of distinctive personality and depth. It feel like you are a part of the town community. The plots were complex with each book being different from the one before it. You never knew what the characters would do next. The author, Agatha Frost, makes the .

Village and countryside come to life and the characters will make you laugh as well as cry. I cannot wait to read more of her work.

Literate and Fun to Read

I’ve just finished reading ten books in the Peridale Cafe Series. I actually enjoyed almost all of them. Simple as are the plots of ‘cozy mysteries’ Frost shows that the central characters can be interesting people living credible lives and experiencing fairly nuanced emotions. Moreover, the writing is simply good as description and proves that entertaining summer reads can be written in good English.

Interesting and a bit addictive sure glad I got the set so I could keep going

I liked the story development and interesting most of the characters. Some O wish had been developed more others I wished she would desert. With all the cakes and such a cookbook is in order, especially the fudge cake for Barker, had my mouth watering. Can't wait to see what happens with Jessie and Julia

Julia has become my favorite baker & sleuth.

It only took me a week to read all 10 books.
What will Julia get herself into next.
When will she & Barker finally get it together
And...the ever entertaining Dot & both of Julia & Barker’s disfuncional families. These books are every bit as Enjoyable as Murder she Wrote.
Agatha Frost is a delightful author with a way with words.

This is such a fun series that is charming with great charcters. I love the protagnist and the small quaint English village. The author transports the reader to all the charm and culture of a traditional English village. The sleuth in each book is well crafted and fun to conclusion. I hope the author will continue this series as I know she has had to stop writing for some time now.

Family & murder

These books had great storylines with lots of mystery. The characters were fun & lovable. They also dealt with love & family matters. I love reading books that are a series because you get to know the characters & can follow along to see what happens next. I will have to check out book 11.

Better than most cozy-mystery-type books.

Thoroughly enjoyed books 1-10. Each one a stand alone story but also progression of the main characters throughout. Great mysteries with twists & turns.

This series is a like a soap. You can read one book and it is a story on its own. However, if you start from the beginning the books link together to form one big saga.
I am halfway through books 1-10 and I am enjoying all of them.

Ho-Hum

Just not complex enough. You read the first book, and it's ok, but the characters are so one dimensional, and the storyline is so predictable, there's no reason to read any more.
