A coffee addict and cat lover, USA Today bestselling author Iris Morland writes sparkling, swoon-worthy romances, including the Flower Shop Sisters and the Love Everlasting series.
If she's not reading or writing, she enjoys binging on Netflix shows and cooking something delicious.
Wow, this book was not what I was expecting at all. Royal romance is one of my favorite genres because of the great love story that's usually the focus, but I'm 20% in and I don't even know who the love interest is at this point. I was not expecting the murder mystery/haunted estate vibe that this book is currently giving off, and I am so confused by the direction of the plot so far as the blurb was misleading. I hate dnf'ing ARCs, but I also don't read books I'm not enjoying. Sorry, not sorry.

Sassy and spicy find their sweet spot in The Prince I Love to Hate. Morland sets her ironic sense of humor free and that wit goes straight to the heart. Niamh and Olivier give just enough fantasy to lure you in and more than enough emotion to keep your heart invested.
In the Prince I Love to Hate, Iris Morland introduces a new duet featuring Niamh Gallagher, the sister of Liam Gallagher, from He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not. Niamh has traveled to Ireland, to receive her inheritance, when she meets a young man, Olivier, whose acquaintance will quickly change her life.
Niamh truly has no idea what she's in for. It's actually been four years since her grandfather died, leaving her his estate. She's uncomfortable being the "lady of the house", but she won't be there for long. Once she meets with the lawyer and learns she'll be doing some traveling, looking for her estranged father and a clock. As it happens, Olivier is searching for the same clock, and the two join forces.
As they travel to mainland Europe, Oliviers' devilish side is exposed. He really likes messing with Niamh's emotions. There are some cute and flirty moments too, and eventually, he shows he cares for her in a most unexpected way. But, as family secrets are uncovered, feelings must be pushed aside. This part of the story ends on a cliffhanger, with the promise of more travel and a bit of conflict. Olivier hasn't won me over yet but I'm hopeful he'll be able to be what Niamh needs.
4 Stars.

Niamh Gallagher grew up not knowing her father and her mother died when she was very young. Leaving her older brother, aunt and uncle to take care of her until she was six, then it was just her & her brother, Liam.
Now, at 22, she has to head to Ireland under the instruction of her grandfather (who died years before) as he has appointed her the sole beneficiary of his estate. Not her brother or her father (if he’s even alive).
While there, her grandfather’s lawyer gives her a letter. The letter sends her on a journey on the hunt for something. Along for the ride is the mysterious, Olivier. He happens to also be looking for something that involves the something Niamh is looking for. The two make a deal to help one another out. However, put a sassy, sexy, funny woman and a chivalrous, guarded, handsome man together, well there’s bound to be some sparks.
I truly enjoyed the banter between Olivier and Niamh. She didn’t fall under his spell and he was able to breathe when around her. Considering his circumstances. The book ends on a cliffhanger that will have you like “...oh...boy...” I can’t wait to read book two and find out what Niamh is going to do. Side note: her name is pronounced Neev. (I was saying it wrong in my head the whole time even though it’s in the book too hahaha)
Niamh doesn’t really know much about her Irish roots since she was very young when she moved to Seattle after the death of her mother. But she must go to Ireland regarding stipulations in her grandfather’s will regarding her inheritance. To claim his estate, she has to start by locating her father, whom she never met but would like to. She also has an incident with Prince Olivier who is searching for his mother’s clock that her grandfather allegedly had and is now with her father. So the two of them, Niamh and Olivier, team up to find him together and solve both their problems. Their travel together will keep the reader amused.
Opposite personalities, but Niamh and Olivier are drawn to each other, though both deny it. They instead argue and banter, but the reader can tell they are secretly enjoying it, though the push and pull is always there. Will they complete their mission successfully? What will they do about the shocking truth they may uncover?
This is a 3.5 for me. If this had more tension or more steam it would have been a solid 4. I love all the back story and the adventure of finding out who everyone is and how they are all connected. This was a solid adventure/mystery book. I hope that the heat level goes up in the next book. I missed that from these. I needed to feel some more yearning.
I also felt she went off with a stranger way too easily, especially a stranger that had broken into her home. I want to know what is in the letter that her grandda sent to her da. I want to know more about how the grandparents met.
I'm invested in the mystery of it all. i'm excited to see where it goes to. But be prepared for not much steam.
Part ‘enemies to lovers’ romance, part treasure hunt, and all the family drama you can imagine. There’s a bit of a National Treasure feel about this book, what with all the secrets and clues as Niamh and Olivier dash across Europe and back again in search of the heirloom antique clock. They learn about each other, themselves, and a number of things better left hidden by the time this book is over. But it’s not the end of Niamh and Olivier’s story. And after the sudden stop at the end, I badly want to know where their journey goes next. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.
This was a quick evening read for me. The story flowed effortlessly and I enjoyed the mystery and chase. Nivah and Oliver get thrown together by fate, have sassy flirtatious conversations and their attraction to one another is a bonus. There is mystery and intrigue abound as together they hunt for the same object for different reasons. As the story unfolds Nivah and Oliver must come to some truths. This is a duet so it does end on a version of a cliffie and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
This was a good read. Niamh's grandpa dies and she goes meet the lawyer. Here she is given a task to find her father. Olivier goes with because he is looking for the same thing. Of course they fall for each other but because of who he is it's complicated. Luckily I have the next book and can see how everything is going to turn out for them.
I loved the plot of “The Prince I Love to Hate and The Princess I Hate to Love (The Heir Affair Duet)”. It was quirky, quaint and quizzically poetic. I liked Harvard grad and heiress Niamh Gallagher and Prince Olivier Valady, Prince of Salasia, a fictitious sovereign. Their search for Olivier’s mother’s clock and Niamh’s wayward dad, Connor Gallagher started an interesting journey. It was a steamy romance for sure.
Then why give it three stars??? The mechanics of the book were dismal. The author can weave a good tale that no one would bother to read because of the bad transition between one chapter to the next. The author skipped whole scenes, days even without proper transitions. The author also would state ideas and occurrences which never were resolved or mentioned again in the book. Example, Niamh’s grandfather’s (Sean Gallagher) letter to his only son Connor; Sean’s lawyer and Niamh’s inheritance of the estate in Dublin; Olivier’s meeting with Connor in Dublin ( mentioned by Connor but not fully explained to the reader of how it took place) and finally, the conversation between Olivier and his parents about his Aunt Mary. Why wasn’t this in the book?
I could go further, but you catch my drift. This author gets an “A” for thinking up the story and a”D” for the execution. I don’t regret reading this. Some readers might not notice the inconsistencies like I did; but this book needs a good editor for sure. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
I've read many of Iris Morland's stories and enjoy her light and easy style of writing. In this set we have Niamh who has gone to Ireland tied to updates in her grandfather's estate - to which she is inheriting as long as she can track down her da - a man who disappeared before she was even born. When she gets there she meets Olivier and sparks fly, but not in a good way. He just keeps rubbing her the wrong way. But what will happen when they discover they need each other to solve a mystery. And then again, what will happen when secrets are revealed? The story ends with a cliff hanger (no surprise as this is book 1) so I am now anxiously waiting to see what will happen for Niamh and Olivier.
This book has completely exceeded my expectations, it’s a very interesting story, with hidden surprises and unexpected plot twists, and with two main characters who are funny, sarcastic, cute and perfect for each other.
Niamh was raised by her older brother and uncles, her mom died when she was a baby and she has never met her dad, but that is about to change when she travels to Dublin for a letter from her late grandfather, on that trip he meets Olivier, a handsome and conceited boy who hides a great little secret, and with whom he begins the search for his father and an antique clock.
Niamh is a character that I LOVED, her personality of hers is very bizarre: sarcastic, funny, ALWAYS says what she thinks without filters and loves her brother and her nieces o much. Niamh has a deep desire to discover the reason why her father disappeared, and secretly seeks to have him in her life back, but it is not easy to find him, that is why she accepts the help of Olivier a very handsome prince, very sure of himself and conceited who from the first moment gets under Niamh's skin. Olivier is quite a complex character shows a constant image of carefreeness, but deep down he’s a boy who seeks the approval of his father, fulfill his royal duties and maintain the throne of Salasia.
Without a doubt, the best thing about this book is the trip through Europe that these two begin, in which they know a little more about each other and also about the undeniable attraction between them, but that neither wants to acknowledge. Niamh & Olivier share many funny moments throughout the book, they are both explosive and I really enjoyed reading them together.
The plot of the search for Niamh's father in Europe is very funny and entertaining, and it concludes with many surprises and unexpected situations that have important consequences for Olivier & Niamh, and although I am not very happy with Olivier's behavior towards the end, I am wanting to know what will happen next because I need these characters to love and be happy together. I would also love for the next book to be narrated by Olivier or for Iris to tell us some chapters from her point of view.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review
"I really, really did not want to share a bed with this arrogant prince, and I really, really, did not want admit it was because a part of me want to grab him and ravish him. He said I wouldn’t have to worry about him getting handsy? Joke was on him, because apparently, I was the one lacking in self-control."
When Niamh decided to fly all the way across the world to Ireland in the search of her long lost father she definitely did not expect to find herself a prince. However with her late grandfather requesting that she find her long lost father in order to be able to fully inherit the family estate, Niamh finds herself not only looking for a man that has been a mystery to her for her entire life but also trotting around Europe with one infuriatingly hot prince.
••
“If I need to, I’ll sit on you until you tell me the truth. I have all night, mister.” I realized I’d made a technical error when his eyes flashed. “You make it sound like you sitting on my lap would be a burden. Not when I was done with you.”
Prince Olivier will do just about anything to find his mother's beloved antique clock even if that involves traveling all over the show with the snarky little sass monster that is Niamh. With their chemistry hitting an all time high neither expect for the clock in question to rock both of their worlds so much. The question now is how will these two figure out what to do next without causing to much of a wave.
••
Oh cliffhangers! Why must we have them? Normally I'm not a huge fan of these abrupt endings but I will say this just left me itching for the second half of this duet! Cliffhangers aside this was just amazing! I loved reading this cute take on a modern day royal romance.
••
Both Niamh and Olivier were hilarious. I loved that Niamh did not just roll over and fall for the prince but gave him just as good as she got. She was a great female lead and I loved the relationship that she had with her brother and her nieces. As for our charming prince, I loved that he constantly tried to get under Niamh's skin. However he was really just a self conscious guy looking for the approval of his parents.
“If this were any other day, I’d totally swoon at having a prince on one knee in front of me,” I said, a hand over my heart. He rolled his eyes. “Stop wasting time already. My trousers are getting dirty.”
••
However the hilarious trip across Europe searching for the clock and Niamh's father is what made this book so amazing. I loved every bit of their misadventures and their steamy pull.
••
I absolutely can not wait to get my hands on the second half of this duet, one thing I know for sure is that it is going to be a brilliant conclusion!
The Prince I Love to Hate is the first part in the Heir Affair duet. Niamh travels to Ireland to look into stipulations of her grandfather’s will. Soon, she’s on the hunt for a clock and her absentee father with Olivier, a man who claims he’s a prince. They infuriate each other, egg each other on, and can’t seem to help their draw to one another. But when secrets are revealed, do Niamh and Olivier have any chance at a future together?
I know this book is a duet, but sometimes it was hard to read. Like, you feel the connection that’s trying to form between Niamh and Olivier, but while she tries to give it a go a few times, to push him outside of his comfort zone and give her a chance, he just continually shoots her down. I can’t decide if I thought that was for the best with the information we had, or if it was infuriating for this being part one of a romance, or what! Maybe a bit of both. I really enjoyed Niamh’s character. I liked how quirky she was, how much she seemed to crave adventure and connection. The book is only from her point of view, so it was interesting to see her take on everything. I don’t really know what to think of Olivier, though. He was hot, then cold. Intrigued and interested, yet thought he had to remain apart. I didn’t always like his reactions, but I liked his conversations with Niamh. I really enjoyed their adventures. Sometimes, I felt like Niamh and Olivier acted almost like siblings, with their banter and bickering, but you could feel their connection get stronger and stronger. This was an interesting book. There were some mysteries and I felt like the book moved along well, and that cliffhanger is one that’s leaving me wanting the next book for sure!! I hope we get more of his point of view next!
This is a cute book, but it took me a few to be completely pulled in... it was a slow build. For the most part, I thought the story was a good easy read. It included some playful banter which helps with hooking you on the characters. This does end with a cliffhanger, and I am curious to read the second part to see what happens!
Naimh doesn’t remember much about her Irish roots, she moved to Seattle with her older brother around the age of 6 after the passing of her mom. When she is contacted in regards to her late grandfather's will, she heads back to Ireland finding out that she is to inherit his Irish estate. But before it given to her, she must complete the task of locating her father (who she has never met). While at the estate, she meets Olivier, who is looking for an old clock that belonged to his mother and was thought to be in Niamh's grandfather's possession BUT they soon find out, her dad is the one who has it. They team up and set off on a journey across Europe to find dear ol dad & the clock. During their travels, Niamh discovers that Olivier is not who he says he is, in fact, he is a Prince.
They're completely opposite from one another BUT there is some chemistry between them. They admit to an attraction BUT he lets her know that nothing could ever happen between the two b/c of his world. Setting this aside.. they must complete the mission. Can they move past their differences and try to make a relationship work? Will they ever find her father??
This is the first book by Iris Morland that I have read but it looks like the heroine's brother got his own book in the Flowershop Sisters series.
This is a bit of a modern day fairytale. The heroine Niamh Gallagher goes to her late grandfather's estate and learns that she will inherit it all if she can locate her father. Her father was the ultimate deadbeat and she doesn't remember him at all. There is an antique clock that might be a clue to his whereabouts. A man named Olivier (Okay, a hot stud named Olivier) is looking for the clock too for reasons of his own. They travel together to see some antique dealers in Europe, and on the road they discover there is a definite attraction between them. But Olivier's parentage and old family secrets complicate things.
Olivier and Niamh find some of the things they're looking for but this book ends in a cliffhanger and their relationship and the family problems don't get resolved here. I don't usually care for duets by unknown authors because it's hard for me to commit to reading two books if I'm not sure I'd like the first one. But I would consider reading the second part too.
I liked the author's writing style, some of the dialogue is nicely snarky, and the plot entertains even if it's somewhat implausible. I read an ARC I got from Hidden Gems and it's mostly well polished, apart from a couple of apparent typos (met for meant, lift for life).
If this wasn’t previously One Direction fanfic posted on Wattpad, then I would love to know what inspired this.
I accidentally downloaded this as it has the same series name as this book I meant to download instead, so that’s how I stumbled upon The Prince I Love to Hate or else I would never have picked it up… I should have just deleted the download.
👑 the banter felt forced. The title implies there will be tension between the two love interests before getting together, but it was nothing. 👑 the plot took like several different directions starting with Niamh figuring out her grandpa’s estate to figuring out her dead was dead and grandpa is dead all by the end of chapter two??? Then Prince Charming is here but has his own side quest??? But spoiler: he’s not dead and the quests combine but this is a romance and him being a Prince like doesn’t matter??? 👑 Irish x British (but Olivier is French) x Royalty…. That’s all—-what upset me the most was the misprint for dialect and language like instead of Olivier leaned down and whispered French words into my ear. just say the words en Français. 👑 mentions and implications of Tinder
The 🌶️ is what solidified for me this was a fanfic was a solid 🌶️🌶️ / 5 and the story could’ve gone without it.
The best part about this book was how short and concise it was. Never dragged and a quick read.
⭐️⭐️.5 / 5

When does it become ok to laugh when sad situations get out of hand. Well you can find out when you read The Prince I Love to Hate. Iris Morland brings her style of humor to the table with this very nice story. It is subtitled A Steamy Romantic Comedy and she does a good job of building the romance between our two main characters.
Niamh may be of Irish descent but I am not sure she was ready for what awaited her in her ventures to her homeland. Of course, finding out her inheritance is much more than she realized did not help. But when she learns of certain stipulations she must fulfill to fully gain this gem… well that is where the fun begins.
Olivier may be many things. Good looking, strong, smart, charming and a gentleman. Imagine your alpha male with a small chip on his shoulder.. He carries his power well but we all realize there is something deep inside that he is dealing with. So the trials he endures may be more eye opening than he is prepared for.
With twists and turns in every chapter, there is never a dull moment throughout this story. Each circumstance seems to force our friends to realize the potential in each other. Until….the cliffhanger dang it!
Yes, Iris did it! Got me wrapped up in this story and left me hanging by a thread. Great job lady and I cannot wait for Book 2!
Both Olivier and Niamh are seeking information about a family matter and determine that teaming up may help them to get the answers they need. When she discovers that the man who posed as a gardener at her late grandfather’s estate is actually a prince of a small principality, she is shocked, but not intimidated. Their search takes them across Europe, sometimes sharing rooms and unexpected personal tidbits that serve to fashion a connection between them. His search is a means to redemption for something he did in the past, while her search is meant to give her closure. But neither can deny the combustible attraction between them, though Olivier refuses to act on it since he is expected to marry to benefit his family and the principality. For the first time in his life, Olivier has met a woman who treats him as a man and not a prince to be fawned over and used for his wealth and standing. Niamh has met a man that challenges her, that actually sees the real her. When their search takes them back to where it all began, they get get answers neither are prepared for, answers that will change both of their lives. The cliff hanger ending leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.

Okay, so this is the first book I have read a book by Iris Morland. I gotta say that it was pretty good. I do wish that I had more laughs when reading but some of it seemed to fall a little short for me. However the storyline was really good and intriguing. So we have Niamh who is going to head across the pond to get some affairs in order. While there she finds out that she has to locate her father and give him something but we never find out what that was? While she is sorting her affairs she also meets Olivier, now this is an interesting turn of events. So this guy is a mystery. He is asking questions and Niamh is wanting to know why he is being inquisitive. Oh man does she find out and it is a doozie. However, she pays no mind that he is someone of importance. She is going to help him find what he is looking for as well as find her dad. Now this journey is crazy going from place to place. With these two being in the same proximity something is bound to happen. However when they get to the end of the journey and find out some mind blowing information what will happen next. It will leave with a cliff hanger so now we have to wait to find out what will happen next. Now let the waiting begin.
If a book has to end in a cliffie, this is the kind of ending I want! Two ill-suited, vastly different people team up to search for the same thing, and what follows is a hilarious, heartfelt romp around Europe.
Naimh Gallagher doesn’t remember much about her Irish roots, but in order to inherit the Irish estate her late grandfather has left her, she needs to find her father, who was last seen in Dublin.
Olivier Valady is an important person in Europe. To Naimh, he's a nobody who broke into her grandfather's estate who she almost hit over the head. As their travels bring them into contact with the public and Naimh sees people's reactions to Olivier, she realizes there is far more to the man than he's let on.
I’m not necessarily a fan of royal romance, but I’m a big fan of Morland's. After a brief hiatus, she delivers another fun, compelling read that grabbed my attention from the first page. I love Naimh and Olivier and couldn’t get enough, so I’m eagerly anticipating the completion of their story. Royals fan or not, you'll love this hilarious lighthearted read that still manages to tug at your heartstrings.
So excited for a new series from Iris Morland! Niamh relocated to the US as a child when her father abandoned their family and her mother passed away, in addition to her grandfather basically shunning the entire family as well. But after his passing, she finds that he left her everything, with a caveat to locate her missing father that everyone presumed was dead. Traveling to Ireland to take ownership and to find the father she barely remembers, she meets Oliver, who she initially is told is groundskeeping staff, but turns out to be prince of a small country and is looking for something that Niamh’s father was in possession of, and they decide to work together to find both her father and the missing item. As the pair travel around Europe following clues and gaining more information, we find that Oliver has left information out from telling Niamh, but they also have chemistry that continues to build between them that they eventually act on. While we do resolve some of the mysteries at the end of this book, we also get left with a major cliffhanger that made me so excited for the next book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is a cute story about a pretty young woman, a recent graduate of Harvard whose tuition was paid by her Grandfather's money willed to her at 21 about five years ago. Now she had traveled to Ireland to see her Grandda's lawyer about her inheritance and found that in fact she had inherited the entire estate and mansion and lovely grounds with one hitch. She had to locate her father whom she had never seen as he had abandoned her mother and her before she was born and with no contact since. Raised by her older brother, Liam, she was now tasked by her odd Grandda to find a clock that could lead her to her father so that she could give him a letter from Grandda. Somehow, the handsome golden haired gardener she had met before the reading of the will becomes involved although we soon learn that he is no gardener but a European prince. Cute banter between these two attractive people but disappointingly little steam which is unexpected and unusual from this writer. An interesting read nevertheless traveling across Europe but with a cliffie. Received this ARC and have voluntarily reviewed.
Did I get the first draft of this book? Plot holes and grammatical errors abound in this romance that feels like it was written by a 17 year old.
For example:
On the last page of the first chapter, Niamh is told by the butler that the lawyer is waiting to meet with her. On the next page, she says she has hours to waste before meeting with the lawyer that afternoon (but hadn’t she just met with him on the page before?)... and then that chapter ends with her saying she wandered the estate all day, no mention of the lawyer.
Also, the lawyer says the only way she’ll inherit the estate is if she finds her father and gives him a letter from her grandfather... but when she actually meets him the plot has changed to her wanting to find him so she can figure out why he abandoned their family? And no mention of the letter ever again.
A million run on sentences, and too many sentences/paragraphs that begin with “Okay,...”
There are more issues but I’ll spare you the rest.
Honestly, don’t waste your time on this book. I hope the author has a better editor for her others! (Or has one at all, because this one doesn’t seem to have been read through for consistency or grammar.)

This is a cute book, but it took me awhile to be invested. I have read a lot of Iris’ books, and this one was different than those. Even though I liked this book, I wish we would have gotten some of Olivier’s perspective.
Olivier is a mystery at first and then, in my opinion, acts like a jerk, at the end. Throughout the book you see glimmers of what he is really like and I felt bad for him at one point. The way he handled the news he received is when I feel he acted like a jerk.
Niahm is a young woman looking for her dad, a man she has never met. In the process, she and Olivier start working together. She falls for him but realizes that they are not meant to be. If the news the Olivier received is true, it could change everything. The way the book ends leads up to the second book in the duet.
While there were some funny parts in this book, the majority was kind of heavy. The characters are likable but flawed. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.
This was a great story. I love that Niamh had the chance to travel and see where her family came from, even though it was for not so great reasons. And since I'm not familiar with other countries, I had to look up how to pronounce her name and was surprised to find out it sounds NOTHING like how it's spelled! "Neeve" is how it is pronounced, btw.
Olivier was a very odd character when we first met him. I'm not sure how I feel about him even now that I finished the book. He's so distant and is always keeping things to himself. It's not the hot, mysterious way that some characters are, but more of an annoying, frustrating way. At least for me anyway. I do hope in the next book we could get both viewpoints? That might help me like him more.
I'm glad I got the chance to read this book and I'm excited to see how book 2 goes when it gets published!
Niamh is off the Ireland to find out about the rest of her inheritance from her grandfather. She was raised by her brother (17 years older than her) and her aunt and uncle. Her father left them before she was born and her mother died when she was two years old. Now she learns that to inherit, she has to find her da. As her brother Liam is very protective of her and hates his father, she keeps what she is doing pretty much to herself. Liam didn’t want her to travel alone but she convinced him she is an adult. What she didn’t know was that the man she thought was the gardener is really Prince Olivier of Salasia and doesn’t find that out until they are working together to find a clock that is important to the two of them. I enjoyed watching them traveling together and their interactions. As this story ends in a cliff hanger, you will need to find what happens in the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Amazing romcom with a twist The Prince I Love To Hate (The Heir Affair Duet Book 1) by Iris Morland is a wonderfully well written romantic comedy with witty, snarky, opposites characters. Niamh and Olivier are about as opposite as they can be with a common goal. Setting out on an adventure leads to moments of vulnerability and emotions begin to run amok. The plot becomes quite twisted as Niamh and Olivier continue to embark of their journey to locate a treasured antique. Little do they know how linked they are to this antique or how twisted and topsy-turvey their lives will become once revelations are made. Overall, this humdinger of a cliff hanger is well worth reading and this author did an amazing job of hooking me on these characters. I am on pins and needles for Book 2 and all the romantic comedy that is sure to come. I read an ARC of this book via Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.
