So I enjoyed the first one, but this one felt like it was dragging... Hard. I felt it was throwing every little detail to drag out the story and I go SO BORED. So I fobbed it at 40% the 'mystery' wasn't intriguing enough for me nor the characters interactions. I liked the set up of the characters themselves, but when the story got going it just felt really shallow.
Still a decent story, but I wanted more done with regards to picking mates, seeing mating threads, and things coming from those incidences in this book.
They definitely learn each other more, but I think that they truly need to address some of the things she finds out about her heritage.
There are again some more minor t typos but nothing major, the writing is decent.
I’m excited to see where this goes bc I’d like to know who the voice belonged to, I’m not sure I know exactly who just yet. I wonder if we will get more hints...
I liked the first book quite a bit (even though I definitely got annoyed with Delilah at some points) but I started to get a bit fed up with this one. I'm tired of Roarke being a martyr and Keiran being a screw up. Delilah keeps going back to Keiran and I'm not sure I actually like him very much (though he did take some big steps toward redeeming himself at the end there). Delilah, Keiran, and Roarke keep rehashing childhood trauma and I just want them to get over it and move on. The issues with the pack seem a bit much too. I spent most of the book trying to figure out why they didn't just leave the pack that has caused them all so much grief and just start their own. Delilah even mentions it at one point but they never really consider it.
My biggest irritant though was the puritanical approach to sex in their pack. I just wanted them to sleep together, be mated, and move on with their lives. All the near misses were frustrating.
I'm definitely planning to read the last book when it comes out in July (why so far away?) but I don't forsee this being a series I'll reread again and again. I still like this author though so I'll continue to read her stuff. This just isn't going to be my favorite series of hers.
Mated Exile, the second book of the Wolf Ascendant series, is an ebook I downloaded from Kindle Unlimited. The devil is in the details--unfortunately, the world-building could use a bit more work describing what's going on. I felt a disconnect from the characters, especially the men who seemed too emotionally unstable (not crazy, more a lack of inner strength). I'll stop at this book, as I couldn't stay as involved with the story line.
There are bits were I can't stop reading but what annoys me is that the main characters getting to 'no' each other before deciding to be mates is all about foreplay it's boring can't they go out and get to no each other the old fashion way. Also in missing the jealousy and something else which I can't put my finger on. I hope the next one is more adventure plus relationship building don't get me wrong I'm not a pride and do like the odd scene just not 80% of the book
I rated this one lower because too many things were over-dramatized and made no sense.
First of all, it annoyed me how they were being all over the top about her using "dark magic" on the outsider alpha. All she did was make him walk to the cauldron. Even then all she was going to do was take a freaking drop of his blood. She was NOT marching him off to his death, she was NOT about to sacrifice him, she was NOT about to make him harm anyone else. There's absolutely no reason magic should've started to corrupt her and turn her skin black and gray, that's stupid. She didn't do anything to warrant that at all.
Adding to those facts, it was discovered that the alpha was just going to basically bleed the remaining energy in their pack lands dry. Then he was going to leave their pack to rot after he stole all of the power to help his own pack. So one measly drop of blood was more than even in the balance of the price he should pay for what he tried to do to all of those people.
Then one of the elder showed talking about some "this is not the way." That's not an elder or guardian I would ever want to have. It's like "YES, he was about to take all the land's magic and wipe out the entire pack, but no, you forcing him to give A DROP OF BLOOD is going too far."
It's a major plot disturbance that made no sense to do. If the magic had gotten a hold of her and she slipped into the dark and was actually trying to outright murder the alpha and his pack then yeah, darkness should be spreading or whatever. But that was NOT the case. Especially when he soad out of his own mouth that the reason he wasn't going give them any of his blood was because he wanted to use their pack to benefit his own and then hand them out to dry.
Taking a drop of the alpha's blood was apparently worse than that same alpha consigning their entire pack to death??? That makes no sense. The book was good up until the last couple of chapters where that happened. It made absolutely no sense. Maybe even if there was just a SMALL SPOT of darkness on her skin AFTER taking his blood, that would have been acceptable. Since technically she would have drawn blood while doing a *very light tier* dark magic spell. But for her to start to be visibly corrupted on a large scale before she even did anything is ridiculous.
I'm sure it was added in for drama or some type of plot twist, but it didn't make any sense in the situation. I'm going to continue the series because I was enjoying it before that happened. But hopefully nothing like that is forced in the next book.

Remember how the first book ended with Delilah being taken. Well this is interesting to say the least because she is doing things that she has no idea that she is doing. Well she is able to escape the vampires with a plus one. Bastian is the plus one. So she manages to get back to Glass territory and back with the guys. They are not too thrilled with Bastian. Delilah learns more of the curse and what she can do. She learns more about parents and let me say that it is a doozy. Well what are the guys going to do. Well they are each putting their hat in the ring to date Delilah. There is mention of multiple mates from some journals about witch-wolf hybrids but the guys are only seeing things from a single relationship with her. Hmm??? Then the vamps are still out there and they are going to be coming back for her. So will they be able to break the curse? Will the pack accept her? Are they going to bring in a new alpha? You definitely need to read it to find out!
Mated Exile continues on from book 1 with Delilah (FMC) still a captive of the Vampires where she strikes up a tenuous friendship with another captive wolf - Bastian. Im cant wait to find out more about him. He seemed like a closed book in this book which was understandable with everything he went through.
It felt like this book slowed down somewhat but i think that was in order to find out more of the backstory of the guys - Kieran, Roarke, Lance & Finn as well as the progression of their relationship with Delilah. Which i think was needed, The whole story with findind and getting an Alpha did annoy me slightly because i just wanted Delilah and Roarke to step up. This will they, wont they just went on a bit too long for me. Other than that im loving the dynamic between Delilah and the guys. Cat brought on a much needed dose of comedy/humour in this series. Im really enjoying reading this series and im looking forward to the next book now
The vampires were after something that Dalilah did not understand what could be. Surrounded by mystery, secrets and with the strong attraction that she felt towards Rourke, Lance, Finn and Kieran, now more than ever it was necessary to break the curse. Dalilah was overwhelmed by what she had discovered and still there was much more she was going to find. Interesting that we have the POV of each of the protagonists and the situations that are affecting them emotionally. Action, suspense, intriguing scenes, violence, magic, vampires and werewolves, romance and a lot of passion. I liked how the mystery and suspense are maintained throughout the development of the plot and still there's more to discover. Eager for the outcome of the story. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received free from Booksprout and I liked.
This starts off where book 2 left insurance. Delilah saved the guys by removing the vamps from pack lands, but took herself with them. The vamps have her in a ring fighting to the death with a feral werewolf. I loved, loved, loved the newest addition to Delilah’s life. I’m not going to spoil it, but new fave. Hard to say much without spoilers, but this was a really fun and emotional second book. Delilah finds out more about why her father did things and about herself. He was a pretty terrible father, IMHO anyway, but Delilah came out of his shady dealings with a wonderful mom, Cat, and more confidence in herself as an individual. We also find out more secrets and secret pains from the guys. There’s a lot of emotional scenes and action and passion. A good mix.

Delilah was taken by the vampires as she expelled them from pack lands. During captivity she learns some new things about herself and gains an ally/stray to bring home with her when she is rescued. With help from Roarke, Lance, Finn and Kieran, Delilah learns about why she was exiled and why she is so special. She also learns painful truths about her father and more about Kieran’s betrayal. I found myself frustrated by some of the repetitive interactions between some of the characters, especially Roarke and Delilah and Kieran. It seemed they were all past due to grow up a bit, particularly with the various issues facing them. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
Mated Exile (Wolf Ascendant Book 2) continues where book 1 left off. Delilah is battling vampires and finds out some exciting things about herself in that battle. She also discovers Bastian, a very strong werewolf warrior, being used by the vampires against his will. The first couple of chapters of the book really kept me engaged. Partly because page one begins with action, suspense, and discoveries. The storyline then slowed down and did not go anywhere until the last couple of chapters. The book ends on a suspenseful note that will make me read the last book in the series.

Book 2 of a series and not to be read as a standalone.
After the events of the last book Delilah finds herself held captive by the vampires but manages to escape with some help from a new friend/love interest. We discover move about Delilahs past and what this means for her future and the future of the Glass Pack. We also get to see the different personalities of Roarke, Lance, Kieran and Finn really shine through. Bastian was a welcome addition and I’m interested to find out more about him in book 3.
The plot is interesting and kept me gripped right from the start with some spicy scenes thrown in throughout.
In this book more secrets are revealed and things figured out that were just beginning from book 1. Also learn more about how Delilah might figure into everything and why she might be so special. So what was going on kept me reading to the end even thought I sometimes wanted to slap a few of the main characters and tell them to grow up but had to keep reminding myself they are young and stuck in a viscous loop of their pack declining. But it was many times entertaining and fun to read with all the action and a few funny scenes.
I enjoyed this work. I loved seeing what what going to happen next being the previous work ended on a cliffhanger. I am definitely eager to read the next in the series. This work had a fantastic plot with twists and turns and full of surprises to keep the story going. The character grew as the story progressed and I am eager to see how everything ends in the next work. I loved this work and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
I give this a five out of five stars.

There’s something about the story that I couldn’t get enough of. I tried to read it through in one setting then I realized it was 3am. Lol loved the dif POV’s. I wish Delilah didn’t forgive so easily it would have made the story a bit better in my mind but I think Lucy knew what she was doing when she wrote this book. Everything has a reason and the plot holes were slowly filling as the story unfolded. I can’t wait to read the last book when it comes out!
Delilah learns a lot about herself in this second book in the series. A lot of the mysteries are revealed, and readers get a closer look at what really happened in Delilah's past. We find out why Roarke feels so guilty about Kieran, and Kieran's motives and actions are explained. I really feel for Bastian. He has suffered so much, and I hope he can find his way to happiness and acceptance. I am ready for everything to come together in the next book.
Look, the majority of the time spent reading this book, I was wondering when will it end. Just something about the book didn’t do it for me. Didn’t really hold my attention.
The ending however was not bad and interesting. But the thing is I don’t know if I will read onto book 3.
There are multiple POVs. Sexiness: 3.5 out of 4 Harem consists of: Roarke, Lance, Finn, Kieran, and potentially Bastian.
This book definitely punched me in the gut. Those pesky vampires just don't quit. Watching our FMC hybrid powers come to fruition. Bastian oh my what kind of spell is he under? I feel like he's connected to the curse with those red eyes of his. Maybe he's a werewolf/ vampire hybrid? So many questions! July is too long!
Whew! What a ride! Reunited with your old friends, fixing up the home you grew up in. Meeting new interesting men, fighting vampires. This author throws everything at you and is so good with descriptions you almost gag when she talks about how a vampire smells. (hardly sexy Edward) Then the big TA-DA! A major cliffhanger! Oh gee thanks.
This is my first book series from Lucy Auburn and the 2nd book I've read. I was unsure if I was going to get into the books after I read a few reviews but I'm so glad I did. Ive read the 2 books in 2 days and am eagerly awaiting the next book. Will be looking into other books by Lucy!!!
Mated Exile by Lucy Auburn is an awesome story that I have loved reading very much. This is book number two in this awesome series and I can not wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about wolf shifters and paranormal romance.

Whoa this was intense and scared the carp out of me, I know something is stirring its way to the forefront I think all of her guys Bastian included are going to be her makes! Makes so much sense power in numbers and maybe she and Rourke be atlas Damon Vampires almost destroyed everything because of the curse.
A handful of spelling mistakes, but still a great story
The occasional spelling mistake gets a LITTLE distracting, but there aren't nearly enough to make me stop reading or remove stars. It could just use a little editing is all. The story itself has been fantastic, and I'm hopping right into the third book right now!
This book dragged a lot more than the first one did and I found myself becoming more and more disconnected from the characters. When I realized I didn’t care anymore, I decided to put the book down. It’s better written than book 1 was but still has quite a few errors throughout. And the FMC ‘shudders’ every few paragraphs and it got repetitive and annoying.
Good series of books, strong storyline, good characters, right balance between steam and story. Moves on from the first book seamlessly, looking forward to the next in the series.
I really enjoyed this book and loved the characters. I can't wait to see what will happen next for them and what that voice was and who. I hope they will be able to help Bastian with his darkness.
I am so pleased the series hasn’t descended into a knot fest !
Great story. Still twisting and turning with a nice pacing to the love interests getting serious together. The overall story is ramping up and leaves you wanting more.
