Jim Gerrish has been in the Christian ministry for over half a century. After seminary he was pastor of several churches before the Lord called him to Israel. There Jim did a great deal of work as a writer and editor. For the last four years of his sixteen-year stay he founded and directed the Galilee Study Center near the Sea of Galilee. As a result of his experience, this commentary has a distinct “Israel flavor” about it that most other commentaries do not have. In his writing the author has utilized a great number of quotes, ancient and modern, from the best commentaries and other sources of information. He has captured many of the “goodies” from these sources. With this single work it may be less likely that the reader will need to consult stacks of other materials in preparation for Bible study teaching or preaching.
