Varg
Mikkjel Fønhus w swoich powieściach i opowiadaniach poświęcił wiele miejsca północnej Norwegii i Laponii. Tutaj też rozgrywa się akcja powieści „Wilki” (1933, Varg), która obok „Der villmaka suser” (1919) i „Trollegen” (1921) należy do najlepszych dzieł Fønhusa. Autor przedstawia w niej świat zwierząt: wilków i reniferów, ukazuje tragizm walki o byt podczas surowej zimy. Tę poetycką opowieść buduje autor jak gdyby z odrębnych nowel, w których losy ludzi przeplatają się z losami wilczego stada.

Fascinating story from the point of view of a wolf. A certain wolf has a reputation of not getting "caught". He knows how to detect poisoned food, and if he gets poisoned, he knows how to survive it. A town calls in a guy specialised in eliminating wolves. Things get more complicated here, but the wolf still survives it. I found this story quite fascinating. It never bored me.
