Executive Chef Nick Davis has the hots for his Sous Chef, Avery Kzmarscki, but she's been playing hard to get for weeks. It's time to see if Nick can be the boss both in and out of the kitchen and become Avery's Master Chef.
Golden Angel is a USA Today best-selling author of heart and bottom warming romance.
She is happily married, old enough to know better but still too young to care, and a big fan of happily-ever-afters, strong heroes and heroines, and sizzling chemistry.
When not in front of her computer writing, she can be found sewing her next project, hanging out with friends, or wandering the grounds of the Maryland Renaissance Festival.
Not my favourite of the Stronghold and Marquis series but still great! What I love about Golden Angel’s Dom’s (and Dom’s in general, in all BDSM books that I’ve read so far) is how self assured and… well… dominant they are! That’s one of the reasons I love BDSM novels: strong, and uber confident, Alpha men. I found Nick to be the exact opposite, because he was a baby Dom and just learning the ropes. It was cute, but it was like reading about a virgin.
The story was about Nick and Avery who work together and have had a thing for each other for some time. Nick finds out that she’s submissive and decides to take Dom 101 classes at Marquis. It was sweet, funny and endearing to see him going through the classes, but it also made him less Dom-ly, in my opinion. This is written in dual POV, so you could really see his internal struggle, self doubt, and lack of confidence. He gets there eventually and it was interesting to see his character development, but I thought it took away from his Dom-liness! It was good, just not my cup of tea.
When the Stronghold series ended I was really sad. Reading those books was like catching up with a group of friends. While each book was about a different couple, everyone in the group of friends would make frequent appearances, and it was always entertaining as hell! I’m so happy that this series has the same vibe. I love reading about the new friend groups. Their banter and camaraderie is so engaging; it just sucks you right in and makes you feel like you’re part of the group. I also love seeing the characters from the Stronghold books make appearances. I got so excited when I saw that Q was part of the Dominant class. I can’t for his book!
Golden Angel’s club Marquis is quickly becoming another favorite of mine, and getting the ARC of Master Chef was a delicious treat that i enjoyed devouring…a lot! Visiting Stronghold, and seeing old friends was a bonus that made me even happier.
Avery moved away from her family in an attempt to find the life she wanted, deep down. To have the job she wanted,ánd to enjoy her sex with a little….bite. Without being judged for doing it. At Marquis, she found the job,and it had a club upstairs to scratch her itch. If only she could do that with her very delicious boss Nick, but sadly he was vanilla….right?
Seeing his sweet little sous chef upstairs, ready to enter the club with her besties, was a shock to his system. But he knew what to do,after all,his brother’s Domme and co-owner of Marquis already invited him before…he signed up for the Dom class, right there and then. Even though he thought hurting anyone was wrong.
Finding out Avery liked being spanked, being dominated, did something to him though. Maybe he wasn’t such a pervert for liking to spank her,and seeing his handprints on her behind after all…. Her request to keep their relationship quiet at work wasn’t a problem for him. Until people started to notice. And one in particular wasn’t too kind about it to Avery…. What was that going to do to her, what would it mean for them? And what about her colleagues?
I absolutely loved Avery and her besties,Domi,Rae and Iris! They were such fun together, and they really had eachother’s back. And Nick,Q and Connor may have been Doms in training, they had to learn what they were going to do to their future subs. Seeing them grow from hesitant and sometimes insecure to confident Doms was beautiful!
I dó wonder if there’s a Dom for Iris,though…. She’s going to need a firm hand,and i can’t wait to find out who’s attached to that hand…..
Yeah I really loved this book, BDSM is my most favourite sub-genre in Romance and this is a terrific BDSM story. I really loved Nick being surprised that Avery was going to go to the play area of the Marquis, and then I thought it great that he signed up for Dom Training. It has several 🔥 scenes that I enjoyed a lot. There is a great HEA and an Epilogue that I am sure is a lead in for the next story and I am so looking forward to it
I will start off by saying I read book three before this one so while I knew Nick and Avery worked together at the Marquis Restaurant I didn't know how their relationship began or their back story so I am really glad I went back to see how it all began.
Avery and Nick had a working relationship, he's Executive Chef and she's his Sous Chef, and during their time working together they flirted and shared a couple of kisses but then one night he catches her at Marquis, the club, when he's leaving Olivia's office for a meeting they just had and Avery is there for a night out with the girls....let the fun begin!
'Master Chef' actually books two of Golden Angel's "Masters of Marquis" series and it's everything I was hoping it would be. If you've read any of Golden Angel's books, then you should know by now each one is interspersed with her wit and personality. 'Master Chef' is no exception! Nick is the Head Chef for the restaurant at the Marquis BDSM club and even though he's exceptionally skilled and talented, he's also Luke's younger brother. Do you remember Luke? Yeah, that's him, the submissive to Olivia, Domme, and one of the owners of the club itself. Nepotism at its finest. That segues right into Nick's dilemma. Even though he works for a BDSM club he really has no interest in any of the kink but Olivia seems to think he's a repressed Dom and wants him to sign up for the Dom training class, which he's be forestalling. He can't seem to wrap his mind around his brother being a submissive, nor the fact that it would require him to administer pain. Misconceptions, bad information, and fear have played a huge part in Nick's mindset up to this point. Let's add in the fact he's just discovered his sous chef, who he has the hots for and has been flirting with, is into kink! Well, he decides then and there, he's going to sign up for the training class for her and learn to 'hopefully' give her what she wants because he wants her. Avery is just as talented in her own skill-set. She loves the business and wants to be with Nick but doesn't want to lose the respect or her standing professionally. That's the only stipulation she's put on things. She wants business and pleasure to be kept separate. There are so many aspects of this story that just do it for me but the biggest one was watching the personal growth of Nick during his journey. Of course, there is angst, drama, and chaos throughout the story but there are also those scintillating scenes and informative information as they teach these baby Doms. I'm never disappointed in one of Golden Angel's stories and this one is definitely one-click-worthy.
Amazing!!! Golden hit all the right notes with this one. For newbies to the lifestyle, there can be a tremendous amount of guilt and shame internally for both submissive and Dom. Is it wrong to derive pleasure from causing pain? Is it wrong to give up control over your own body to someone else? No. The answer is no. So long as it’s what both parties want and need, there is no wrong. This book handles the subject so very well. I’m all ready for Andrew’s baby sister now. 😏💜
This one is not as strong as the first, partly because the MMC is inexperienced in BDSM. The romance was fairly low-angst, but the sexy bits were tame, and some of the side characters were either annoying or boring.
I like this author, but I may pass on the rest of this series.
I love this series so much!!! I'm going to have serious withdrawal symptoms some 7-8 books from now when it ends! This book tells the story of Nick, Marquis' head chef and Avery, his sous chef. We first met Avery & Nick in the Stronghold series, where their lively banter in the kitchen promised good thing to come. After discovering that Avery is into kink, Nick signs up for a dominant class, to learn how to better connect with her. I think this is the first book I ever read about a newbie Dom and a seasoned sub. We get to see Nick's POV worrying that he's hurting Avery and his conflicted feelings about liking it. The fact that he's willing to go through with the classes even though they are not easy either emotionally or physically because of his love for Avery, made me love his character so much! And when Avery messes up, he passed the Dom test with flying colours. I loved meeting old characters again, and new ones who we will meet in future books. Meeting Q, Angel's former house mate, in the Dom's class was such a treat! I can't wait for his (and hopefully Sam's) book to come! Shane, the bartender, is coming more to life. Could there be a book in the future about Master Shane and his sub Cynthia? One of the best things about Golden Angel's writing is how funny she is. Reading this book while in public is bound to make you stared at as if you're a few french fries short of a happy meal so beware! This book is a fun, funny and a great read. Another 5 stars for Golden Angel!
Nick and Avery…..I had been waiting on this story and it did NOT disappoint!! Golden Angel has a way of writing stories with the perfect mix of real life struggles, fantasies, heat, and laugh out loud, choke on your drink moments. I am absolutely counting down the days till we get Law & Disorder.
The second book in the Masters of Marquis series and Nick and Avery’s story. It’s well written, intense, very, very, hot, and most certainly entertaining. The plot is gripping with a unique twist and keeps you the turning pages. I just loved Nick and Avery and they were so darn perfect together. A great read and definitely one click worthy.
The chemistry that Nick and Avery have is intense. From the start I knew they would light the pages on fire. I think what I enjoyed most about this book was learning about kink and the lifestyle with Nick. Initially Nick was on the fence about kink and the lifestyle until he bumps into the girl that he wanted to start a relationship with. He agrees to take a dominant class. As the pair learn and grow in their kink together their relationship progresses and they learn about each other and themselves along the way. These two have amazing chemistry and it is steamy. Being alongside the pair as Nick grows into his Dom role was very hot. Not only are these two in a relationship together, but they also work together as a Chef and a Sous Chef. They work to keep their relationship a secret and there is a lot of drama at their restaurant. I found myself loving the side characters as much as Avery & Nick. We also get to meet several of their kinky friends and you will find yourself wanting more and more from this group of friends! Friends, this is not a slow burn, and it is steamy! If you are unsure if you would be a fan of BDSM and the lifestyle in books, I think this is a great place to start. Angel does a great job of explaining things and it doesn't go too far or kinky….there is also some vanilla! Golden Angel has quickly become one of my must read authors, and this book did not disappoint!
Unbridled passion is interfering with the workplace! In the second book in Golden Angel's Masters of Marquis series we are heating things up between chef Nick and sous chef Avery in MASTER CHEF. The characters are fun to get to know and the sexual tension is off the charts. I enjoyed their story.
Nick is fulfilled in his job as executive chef at Marquis, but he's having trouble keeping his attraction for his sous chef under wraps. When he finds out her sexual preferences, he lets him be talked into taking a beginner dominant class ... and finds out he enjoys it more than he expected!
Avery is a sweetheart, but she's not so sure about mixing business with pleasure ... but Nick is too much temptation to resist.
I recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys their romance mixed with some exciting BDSM as various couples settle into life together surrounded by Marquis.
This was a good book over all. It took me awhile to get into since before this book both Avery and nick and were minor characters and I didn’t know enough about them to cheer them on. I would of much rather seen other characters that we met in stronghold get their happy ending since this series is supposed to be a spin off of that one. I’m still waiting for Kincaid and Zach to get their story as well as the other baby doms from stronghold. Once I got to know the characters more I was more infested in their story and wanted it to work out for them so I’m glad they got their happy ending with out to much trouble.
What a great point of view! This story is a new take on the D/s dynamic. As a person who only reads about this in books - this is one of the best description of the relationship I have ever been treated to!
Nick is alpha - but not into the “lifestyle” - yet. Avery has been a submissive in the past, but has not been active for a while. As these two work out a boss / employee relationship, they also seek to understand what their relationship will really entail.
It's fabulous, sexy, emotional and humorous. Everything one wants in a great story.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
I really liked this story about a workplace romance between the chef de cuisine and his sous chef. Nick and Avery have a mutual attraction, but Avery is submissive and not sure that a strictly vanilla relationship will work for her. Nick is a dominant man, especially in the bedroom, but did not consider himself a Dom - that stuff was just too kinky. Little did he know! It was fun watching their relationship develop, learning new things about themselves and the lifestyle, and overcoming the inevitable obstacles and prejudices to forge a solid relationship as a couple. This series is like visiting old friends - you catch up with almost everyone in the Marquis/Stronghold circle. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily giving my honest review.
I have read quite a few by Golden Angel, and she NEVER disappoints! Make sure you clear your schedule for Nick and Avery. This is why!
Nick and Avery work with each other in the restaurant kitchen at the newly opened Marquis Club. The two work well together. However, with Nick being her boss as the executive chef, things could get very complicated for both of them. Especially when he discovers her secret in the most awkward way.
Avery is making a name for herself as a sous chef. She is happy working under Nick and doesn't want to rock their professional relationship, though she wished there was a chance to have a personal one with him. The few stolen kisses they'd shared just weren't cutting it. The only issue is, Nick has no idea she is submissive, but could she give it up for him?
This new spin-off is just as steamy as the Stronghold series. It was great to catch glimpses of the og's, and the visits to Stronghold. My only letdown is I can't give it 10 stars! Even Meatloaf can't make it happen, and he sang of "doing anything for love!'
Nick and Avery were great together. I really enjoyed Nick's character development as he explored the world of BDSM. I liked the spin on this book where we get an experienced sub and a newbie Dom. This story is interesting and super steamy as both Avery and Nick let go of some misconceptions and learn to expect who they are. This is a great addition to the series and I can't wait for Iris' story.
Avery is in to kink as a submissive, but she hasn't played for a while and anyway, she's attracted to her non-stop kinky boss. Nick knows about kink but despite his brother's girlfriend', Olivia's suggestion, doesn't want to learn more, until he sees Avery at Marquis. Another informative, kink-filled love story from Golden Angel. Fascinating to watch Nick learn about his desires and release the guilt that he is causing pain. Great characters and great fun.
The second book in the Masters of Marquis series, but it can be read as a standalone
I really enjoyed this book, once I started reading I didn’t want to stop until I was finished. What I loved most about this story was that it had a different set up. In this case there is a newbie Dom and a more experienced submissive. And add the complication that they both work together and there is a whole lot to deal with.
There is a lot of focus in the book about the emotional side of BDSM. Both Nick and Avery deal with feelings of guilt and shame, made even more complex because the body tells other things then the head. Both of them go on a journey together and learn a lot about themselves and each other.
They have great sparks and interaction together. It was also wonderful to see some familiar faces pop up and catch up on them.
Love Nick and Avery's story! I love that this story is about a newbie Dom. So many stories are about newbie submissives but we rarely get to hear from the other side of a new Dom. Which is interesting since at some point all Dom's are new.
There is a lot of internal dialogue that both Nick and Avery have with themselves. It makes since with the plot of the story but I wish their less and more active dialogue. The story has a fascinating flow that keeps you riveted! It is steamy and oh so delicious! I also love the dynamic between Nick and his brother Luke. Nick comes to understand his brother a little better and Nick get to see the two different sides of his brother in action!!!
Another great addition to Master of Marquis! I can't wait to see what comes next!
I loved the combination of humor, kink, and lots of heart. Avery and Nick might be my favorite couple yet in these wonderful series (Venus, Stronghold, and Marquis). Watching them both struggle with their internal kink-shaming, and seeing Nick really blossom as he learned how to unleash his inner Dom, was heartwarming and oh so satisfying. This would be an excellent book to suggest to newbies trying to come to grips with their own urges. The handling of the tension between Avery's career and feminism versus her needs as a submissive was especially well handled. Bravo, Golden Angel!
I loved the relationship dynamic but either this was too short or the pacing was way off – when it was over, I felt like the relationship was barely at its beginning.
I loved this book. I laughed out loud but could also feel for the inner turmoil of both Nick and Avery. I love that Marquis characters mix with well known and surprising characters from Stronghold. I love that this time the Dom is the inexperienced one and the sub is experienced and to read about how he struggles at first before Nick finds his inner Dom. I am vanilla but I find it fascinating to read about bdsm romance and I just really love Goldens writing style especially the fun and the humor and the emotional development of the characters. I was sad to reach the end of the book. I already preordered the next book Law and Disorder. Can't wait to continue with this series.
Nick is delicious! Not just because he's a chef, but for other reasons. I loved his character development in this book. He is totally gone for Avery, but she's a submissive and he isn't sure about the lifestyle. Taking a Dom class is something he does for her, but could he discover it's more for him? Avery is sweet on Nick, but doesn't want to lose the respect and standing she has in her job. With Nick as her boss, it could be tricky to maneuver. I'm totally in love with the cover on this book and it really brought Nick's character alive for me. This is a fun, sensitive, and steamy story. If you're a Golden Angel fan you will love this one! 4 stars!
I was so ready for this book! We get a little inkling at the end of book 1 so I was ready to go! Avery wants to be able to be the submissive she is in a safe environment, and what better place than Marquis..if only her boss was a dom, everything would be perfect! Nick might not be a dom yet, but he can certainly learn, can't he??? I love "watching" Nick's journey in this new world and his relationship with Avery! I am hoping for Iris book next as she is a firecracker! Already love Domi!
Whenever Golden Angel writes a book, it' an auto buy for me. And in this book, we get to see a reverse where Avery is an experienced Sub while Nick takes classes to learn to become a Dom. He's wanted her for a long time and finds he's intrigued by this. Avery is a strong feisty woman and he knows he needs to do whatever he can to win her heart. Is it going to work? Does he really want to be a Dom? I also loved the tug and pull of the story. It kept me turning the pages until the end!! This is the second book in the Masters of Marquis and it's just as good as the first book was. I think this will become another favorite series! If you like Golden Angel's books, do NOT miss this one!
What fun to see one of Olivia’s Baby Doms go through Dom training! This book combines both Marquis and Stronghold, so, for long-time Golden Angel fans, it’s like a homecoming. For those new to these worlds, it’s an enjoyable, steamy, and emotional step into Marquis on all levels, literally. Nick and Avery start out occupying the restaurant level only, with Nick very unsure about the appeal of the club itself. When he bumps into Avery, an experienced sub, in the club one evening, that tune changes, and the story really gets going. It’s a standalone that’ll have you going back for the other books – enjoy.
This was such a good read. I have to say that I really enjoyed the twist that the author gave to Nick and Avery's relationship. I felt it offered a unique take that isn't often shown in books and that gave this romance a very fresh feel and also made it quite relatable. This story quickly had me hooked and avidly invested in this duo. Their chemistry is intense and the steam and sparks they generate hot! I'm happy to say that along with raising your temperature, this book gives your heart a nice little workout with some engaging drama and lots of emotion. This is my unbiased, independent review.
Happy New Year to all! For those who are needing an escape from reality, may I gently suggest picking up a Golden Angel book? I found this in my kindle library TBP. Needing a bit of smexy romance, this story did it.
