Conscious Cures ~ Soulutions to 21st Century Pandemics responds to the mutation and global deterioration of societal, economic, political, and environmental conditions, and how they impacted the COVID era. It is a must-read for anyone who views this time of crisis as an opportunity to explore new ways to thrive rather than survive.
The Coronavirus disrupted and devastated much of our world, yet it served as a catalyst to initiate long-overdue changes. This major pandemic affects everyone, so it will take everyone working together to get through it. Despite the chaos and our longing to get our life back on track, one thing is for sure; we will never go back to what we once considered normal.
COVID brought to the forefront how fragmented and fragile our society has become. With variances of the virus on the rise, systemic change is imperative to reduce and eliminate future pandemics. We face tough choices. We can despair and give up or strive to bring our world into a state of balance where all sentient beings can coexist.
We are undeniably at a pivotal point. Donna Maltz writes with eloquence, passion, assurance, and wisdom about the various steps (what she terms "Soulutions") to heal ourselves and our wounded, divided world. Her insightful vision focuses on regenerative Soulutions rather than inflammatory media and conspiracies. She encourages us to create a more inclusive, resilient, and healthy world.
This book showcases the impressive resurgence of ethical activism and its life-enhancing engagement worldwide. When dignity and ethics merge as guideposts, we become part of rebalancing humanity.
I hate to do this as I think the author is a lovely, well meaning lady, but this book wasn't ultimately novel or helpful for me. I thought by the title that it would have "cures" for modern pandemics but it's more along the lines of ecological prevention. We all know (or should know) that our modern way of life is leading to more and more risk of novel viruses like covid-19 that are jumping from animals to humans, and we know that our modern lifestyles are making things much worse due to air pollution, over-crowding, poor access to health care, etc. This book suggests important and necessary changes along the lines of our environment, social justice, etc. and these are certainly needed. I don't know who the audience is, though, as I already know all of the problems she points out and her solutions are ones that have been championed by people concerned with these issues for some time. She does not offer "cures" for pandemics in terms of how to survive them (other than some very basic stuff about health), just changes needed in the world to stem them. It's a short read and does make great points, but these may not be new to most people and the only people who wouldn't know them already are likely the types not to agree with her.
As I said, I hate to rate the book with a low rating but it was 2 stars for me -- "just okay." I have no doubts that the author is a wonderful person and I agree with her ideals. I would just suggest adding more concrete advice in actually dealing with pandemics on a personal and community level, rather than just goals for prevention.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.
This book reminds me that whatever I have right now, including my surroundings, are blessings. I just can't believe that other people leave a less than spectacular rating for this book because it can save lives, particularly with a healthy pivot in their nutrition and the way they deal with their emotions. I also like that it teaches me to be in touch with the very simple act of breathing, which is taken for granted. Now, when I breathe, I appreciate it fully, and it makes me surprisingly happy.
This is such an enlightening read that touches on a lot of important topics. Donna Maltz is an amazing and inspiring woman! Her personal stories of perseverance and passion are guiding lights for the generations to come. She is a pure spirit, an advocate for nature and a loving soul spreading love and conscious solutions that we can all implement to help heal our Earth. Do yourself and your children's children a favor, buy the book and then buy others to pass around. Everyone should hear what she has to say. This is a must read if you want to make a difference in the world ❤️
