To find her mother, one woman must dive into the depths of magic itself... Freya has made a name for herself as the Queen Killer. The woman who defeated the Goblin King, then killed the Goblin Queen. Now, she has a new task. One that is much more personal. Her mother is alive, trapped somewhere in the realms of the fae, and she will stop at nothing to get her back.
With the Goblin King at her side, she must face an old enemy. The kingdom they are sent to is filled with beautiful pixies, each one more dangerous than the last. To find her mother, Freya must not only survive this dangerous Court, but also seek out the magic within herself.
All while discovering her feelings for the Goblin King may be more serious than she thought.
Okay. We need to discuss something about these books.
I stuck around for book 3 to see if Freya and Eldridge (our titular Goblin King) do itttt. They do. That whole scene came like out of my reading periphery at about 100 miles per hour, i.e. it was really unexpected. Not to say that I couldn't see where the relationship was going, but just that these books read like very young-skewing YA and all of a sudden I'm being hit in the face with some fairly graphic sexy stuff. I'm no prude, believe me, but it's a very jarring experience to be tottering along in what you think could easily be a mid-grade novel and all of a sudden our Goblin King has his claws knuckle deep in Freya's folds.....author's words, not mine.
Not to mention the fact that Freya is a virgin, and our cheeky lil' Goblin King orchestrates her first time as cowgirl? Again, not a prude, but how does she even know what to do? Freya's inner monologue paints her as fairly not-wordly, but she takes to girl-on-top like a fish baby to its first swim. The juxtaposition of this scene with the rest of the book (before and after) is so incongruous that it removes you completely from any semblance of plot.
That's really saying something because the plot is not exactly strong here. It's gotten weaker as the series has gone along, and this book is probably the worst. There are werewolves now? And her mother is alive? (I'm not putting this in spoiler tags because if you're able to count to ten you should have figured both of these plot-points out). And the werewolf went from being a serial killer freak (who very graphically rips pixies to pieces) to a not-so-bad guy that's only doing it to send a message to his oppressor? Yes, because dismembering random innocent pixies and sending their pieces back to the evil fairy that cursed you is the right way to get your message across. You couldn't target her guards or something? Point I'm trying to make is that the plot devices and twists are so clunky that they lose any kind of effectiveness.
Taking all of this into consideration, why am I still here? Why have I soldiered through three books when I've DNFed others pages in for less? I won't lie, I was here for the promise of smut that would fulfill my long unrequited Jareth fantasies. I guess I got it here, but it wasn't a particularly rewarding experience. In for a penny, in for a pound at this point. They've more or less become hate-reads at this point. Plus, I'm not even really ashamed to admit that the covers are FIRE. The hot Goblin King on the covers is probably about 90% of the reason I've stuck around this long.
I didn't like the first two books, and nothing about the start of this one is interesting. Even the main character's bored out of her mind! Why am I reading this? Only out of my desire for completion. DNF @ 11%.
▪︎I received an ARC in exchange for honest review.▪︎
I have always loved the way Hamm weaves her stories. Her books have always been some of my favourite fantasy books so when I saw that she had some arcs left and wanted to give them out. I grabbed them asap eventhough I had not read the book series. And I am so glad I took the chance because this has ended being a fantastic read for me.
I binge read the entire series including book 3 in 2 days. A feat. Its been a while since I've read books that fast.
The book continues the plot of book 2, where we see Freya in the Goblin King's kingdom. She feels desolute. She and Eldridge are rarely together since he is always busy. But, a message from the Spring Queen about her mothers whereabouts sparks the hero in her back to life.
I absolutely love how the book starts cause honestly the thing that most shocked me was that she was readybl to settle because Freya doesn't seem like that kind of person. She is an adventurer. And obviously Hamm nailed it. Freya is such a powerful character and seeibg her vulnerable makes her sonmuch more real and the character development done by Hamm is flawless. I am so very invested in her journey. She is this brilliant, powerful and brave woman that honestly has the commander personality written all over her. She could lead the Fae. Just suggesting... not me lowkey wanting her to be The Queen of the Fae.
Eldridge, My villain. He has so much more depth in this book. Obviously I absolutely adore their Hero-Villain dynamic. They have the best banter and holy hell the sexual tension. The pages were on fire. And my god I didn't expect the scene in Chapter 17. The book is worth reading just to get to that scene. The banter, the deal. No one writes fantasy enemies to lovers/Hero-Villain dynamics as well as Hamm.
Arrow, I'd say he is my favourite character bt thats a place for Freya only. He really stole our heart from the very first book and I absolutely love that Hamm developed Arrow to be more than a guide and friend of sorts to the Queen Killer. The added deapth and his storyline apart from Freya's makes you really invested in his personal journey and growth. Another thing not common in ya books. He is a sub character yet his character growth and development is done jut as well. He truly stile the show.
The plot is fast paced with loads of action. I read it very fast cause all the pages have action and there isn't really a slowing down of plot. It made me really invested in the story. The action and the stakes. But at the same time the book feels way too short and there isn't really a moment where you can appreciate the development. The pacing isbthe only thing that felt a bit too fast at times and this cause me to be kinda not into the plotlines.
I very much lived this book and recommend it to everyone.
The plot has gotten worse with each book, unfortunately. So much of the plot either doesn't make sense or is incredibly convenient - or both - and so many of the choices she makes? also make no sense. Freya has also turned into a protag I actively dislike. The way she turns into a snappy monster for no reason in certain scenes was irritating and she seemed more like an immature teenager than the supposedly independent and mature 24 year old we meet in the first book.
I was so excited for this one after having loved the first two in the series, so excited I read it on release day, and I'm sad to say I'm disappointed. If this was a trilogy I'd say this suffered from middle book syndrome as it was just a set up for the final two books (with an ending I saw coming from a mile off). Also there is some strong plot convenience in this book, which caused lots of eye rolling.
I do enjoy this series but I'm so torn on how I feel about Freya and Eldridge. For an immortal and a 24 year old (am I remembering that correctly?) I feel like neither of them act terrible.. mature/adult-like the majority of the time? I don't know. They just seem very whiplashy with their behavior. Maybe it's just me.
The first book made it to my favorites shelf but I'm bored with this at 37%. I may come back to this buy I'm very disappointed that it is not holding my attention.
Oof. The predictability of this one hurts. I called all the major plot beats long before they were revealed. What's worse is that the story overall wasn't much fun.
Freya's childish reactions over not wanting to admit she had magic were immensely annoying. Like, if you're so mature, why are you going into a blind rage whenever anyone tries to bring it up? It was stupid.
Also, werewolves? Weird way to take the story. It can work, I suppose, to mix the two, but this just felt jarring. I'm now anticipating cliche vampires to show up in the series.
And I also just... don't care for Freya wanting to save her mother. Like with Esther, I felt no established connection and it felt contrived to watch Freya go I NEED TO SAVE MY MOM RIGHT NOW UGH for the whole book. Plus the plot with the Spring Maiden was so weak.
There's 1 sex scene and it was just... basic. "We worshiped each other's skins and met a climax of starbursts together" was the basic gist and by the end they're in love and together and soulmates. I didn't feel the emotion so it's a disappointment.
Honestly, I'm not especially keen on book #4 and #5 now. I feel like the next book will be a lot of bothersome drivel between Freya and her mom. I might stop here and move on to something else. Another ~500 pages of this sort of stuff to round out the series currently sounds kind of unpleasant.
Of Pixies and Spells is the newest installment in the Goblin King series by Emma Hamm. In this newest book we return to the Goblin King’s palace post Winter Court madness where we see Freya in a depressive funk. I know, I know, Freya? Depressed? And yes, yes, she is. You see Freya doesn’t know what to do with herself now that there’s no one that needs saving. Eldridge is busy putting the fae realms back together and these two *phew* they just always miss each other emotionally. I really like this third book and want you to keep that in mind while I vent just a tad. You see Freya is a supremely complicated woman, just ask Eldridge, and there were times throughout this book that I wanted to strangle her! In like, the most loving way possible. Freya is one of the most interesting characters I’ve had the pleasure of reading and she’s really beginning to move past her learned prejudices that her mother taught her. It’s a pleasure to read and experience her growth. Freya is struggling to come to terms with her own changes and her own life and it’s so relatable! Her relationship with Eldridge is so adorable! I genuinely laughed out loud at most of their interactions and y’all….there’s a scene in this book…you’re going to need some ice water to cool down after reading it!! These two are spicy! One of my favorite moments in this book came toward end when Freya confronts the Spring Maiden and her mother’s abandonment of her two daughters. I wanted to jump up and shout and throw my fists in the air!! In these two scenes we get to see glimmers of the Queen she’s absolutely going to be and IT IS PHENOMENAL!! Arrow has been my favorite side character throughout these novels, and he elevates himself to absolute fan favorite in ‘Of Pixies and Spells’. If I were dog, I would be Arrow for sure! He loves libraries and tea and he’s so sassy! I need fanart of Arrow like yesterday! Eldridge continues to show his many layers as the Goblin King, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that I would absolutely love to read his POV at some point he’s so fascinating. His reactions to the other fae rulers are hilarious. His comments to Freya are equal parts snarky and romantic. Of Pixies and Spells absolutely demands a playlist and yes I did put one together on Amazon Music! You can find it at this link: https://music.amazon.com/user-playlis... Emma! That cliffhanger was uncalled for! What are we supposed to do now while we wait for the next book?!

Ok, so while I am finishing this series, I'm not really in a rush to do so. This is one of those "And we lived happily ever after... until next time...". Very villain of the week (this week was the Spring Maiden and her false accusations against the werewolves. She makes Freya believe the werewolves are not only murdering/mutilating fairies by ripping off their wings-side note, the bloodshed wasn't said, but the visual of ripping out wings before killing them, not to mention the contraption that poor spring pixie has to wear in order to protect his wings... Jesus).
But I did appreciate the Easter egg from book one comin' back around (Freya is missing her mother/dislikes playing the strong maternal figure before her time, and before Esther's disappearance, she's visibly mourning her missing parents/support system), not to mention Freya and the Goblin King finally do-the-do. I also understand that some readers took issue with her being on top for her first time, but realistically, it allows her to control the speed/depth of him. Sorry to get all biology/sex ed 102 in the midst of everything. I also liked that for once, she and Eldridge (AKA the Goblin King) are making a journey together (the first had him as the big bad, and the second had her saving him out of newfound... friendship?). And anytime Arrow's around, you know readers are getting treated to the giggles.
There were several idea deep ideas concerning purpose and mental health, as well as perhaps the negative effects of heroism, like what is life when not on a quest? *Freya exhibits signs of lower end depression once her quests are over, wandering around the grounds/Goblin realm after sharing her heroic deeds with yet another Goblin child come to hear the tale of the Queen Killer from the Queen Killer herself. *Eldridge voices genuine concern for her well-being, saying "You don't seem like yourself. You look lost even when you've got a destination, and even your expressions seem lost. I want to help, but I'm at a loss to how."
Side note, Eldridge is Alpha with his words, Cinnamon Roll Beta with his moves. I approve.
Like I said, not in a rush to finish, but finishing it nonetheless.

Things must be slow and quiet for a mortal hero in fae land. With besting Eldridge and then defeating the Winter Princess after having to save Eldridge -things have slowed right down and there isn’t much to do while Eldridge puts the realms back together (after what the Winter Princess destroyed) while waiting for news on her mother and where she is (except wondering why she was here, why she abandoned her and Esther, and why she has magic)
When finally get news on where they need to go - it is a part of the realm that puts Freya way on edge and Eldridge not wanting to either - for they have to go back to the Spring Court, and it maybe all colorful and beautiful but the Maiden and her court treated both of them “badly” in different ways. And Freya’s mind is thinking that this is just a trap to get to The Goblin King.
Once at the Spring Court - there is something going on………… there seems to be a monster terrorizing the Pixies 🧚♀️ and the Maiden needs her and Eldridges help. But, is that all? Or is there something else going on and how does it link to her mother?
On this journey Freya and Eldridge are learning more about one another - he is teasing and affectionate, she is loving how he is showering her (but, has reservations about how he really sees her in his life) and she is falling more in love with him.
Will she get to see the depth the Goblin King loves her? Will they find her mother? Will they defeat the beast? And, what other secrets is the Maiden hiding from them.
Once again, another stunning installment for this magical series! I honestly thought Of Shadows and Elves ( the second book of the series) was going to be tough to beat, but Of Pixies and Spells is just as amazing. The continuation of the story is mesmerizing and well executed, the world building is gorgeously done. The development of the relationship between Freya and her Goblin King is well done and weaves in very well with the main plot of the story. I look forward to the next installment, can't wait to read it!

The adventure continues for Freya and Eldridge is this third book in this series. Freya is having trouble feeling like herself after killing the Winter Princess. Everyone is calling her the queen killer a nickname she loathes. They get an invitation to the spring court a place that still makes Freya uncomfortable after spending weeks asleep there. The Spring Maiden sends them on a quest to help them rid themselves of a werewolf. I enjoyed this slow burn romance and Freya's further character development as she discovers things about herself and her family she didn't know. I look forward to the fourth book.

Well I wanted Freya and Eldridge together and boy did I get it! Just not in the way I expected or really wanted. Their spice scene came out of left field and left me feeling a bit uncomfortable. The way it happened, with Freya being inexperienced, and it sort of happening like a dream didn't tick the right box. Compared to the build up of the other two books and their plots, this one lacked big time. Plot was all over the place and didn't make sense to me. Now I'm happy Freya found and helped her mother, but the werewolves and pixie issues didn't fit right. Regardless of my issues, I'm still going to read book 4 because I need more of Freya and Eldridge.
Of Pixies and Spells is the third book in the Of Goblin Kings series and it was a fabulous addition to the series, I absolutely loved it. The story has a lot of snark, flirting, mystery, steam, and of course magic. How could I not love this book?
In the previous book, O Shadows and Elves, Freya learned that her mother is alive and in faerie and she is determined to get her mother back. Freya has been bored at court is yearning for adventure and when those who promise to help find her mother take longer than she would like Freya decided to take things into her own hands with Eldridge, the Goblin King himself tagging along with Freya's favorite companion the goblin dog, Arrow.
Freya has changed from the first book, her mind is open and her heart is big, she has come to care for the supernaturals around her and when Delilah, the Spring Maiden, suggests that she can help find Freya's mother Freya jumps at the deal. Freya's fatal flaw is that she would absolutely do anything for family including trusting someone that maybe she shouldn't. Combine that with her more reckless behavior, swift mood changes, and unexplainable magic, it's obvious Freya is changing. I can't wait to find out more about what's going on with her.
One thing for sure is things are changing between Eldridge and Freya. The two are closer than ever, they have a bond and it has become increasingly obvious that the two are very attracted to each other and are starting to have deeper feelings for each other, feelings that they can no longer deny. Freya and Eldridge are good together, they have each other's back, provoke and entice each other, they are protective and work well together. I didn't realize how much I want them to work as a couple until this book, they had some very important moments in this book and I'm excited for them to grow into something more.
Emma knows how to write a great story that is very compelling. So not only are there rumors about Freya's mother being alive in Faerie but new supernaturals are introduced into the plot which takes the story in a whole other direction. These new supernaturals give off reminders of different fairytales that blend into the story well. Not to mention there is a closer more surprising look into the Spring court. The story dives into the lives of Pixies, their hearts, and hardships, what they go through daily and what is currently plaguing them, it was a totally different version of Faerie than I'm used to. Not to mention in this one Freya confronts her past, her current feelings towards not only the Goblin King but about her life, and she has to deal with a couple of surprising revelations.
Of Pixies and Spells was entertaining as it was fascinating with more magic than I could dream, interesting supernaturals, great banter, and an intriguing mystery. Freya gets some of the answers she is looking for and found so much more. I loved Of Pixies and Spells and can't wait to go on more adventures with Freya and her Goblin King.
This book is recommended for readers 18+ due to adult situations.
I just adore how Ms Hamm can take these classic fairy tales and turn them on their heads to make something so wonderful and new. This definitely invokes Snow White. The relationship between Eldridge and Freya heats up spectacularly. I also live the continuing presence of Arrow. He's just the right combination of comedy and reality check that Freya needs.
These have such an addictive quality to them. They read so quickly yet still deliver a fully fleshed out world. I adore Freya and how determined and tenacious she is and Eldridge is such fun. His character is really developing now and it’s fun to see him grow beyond his role of antagonist. These are just light and fun and I can’t put them down.
I totally, completely and absolutely LOVED this book. It's kind of comforting to meet our dear Freya and Eldridge again, dealing with life in the aftermath of the demise of the Winter Princess. Freya is working hard on herself while the Goblin King is working hard to piece back the fairy realms. Believe me when I say that dear Eldridge deserves an award for his patience, while he waits for Freya to get over her insecurities and fears. Soon, these two -and Arrow-, are out on a rescue mission that will keep you glued to the pages of this book. During their journey, both Freya and Eldridge, and us readers with them, will learn one or two things about their pasts, which will reach into their future. Love and tenderness, fairy magic, fast paced action and witty dialogues - this book has it all to be among Emma Hamm's best. Highly recommended read.
I wanted to love this book, I really did. The first two books in the series are really good, but this one was an absolute CHORE to get through. It took me weeks to finish it because I couldn't stand to read more than a chapter at a time. I finally forced myself to finish the last half of the book in one day so I could be done with it.
To start, Freya is absolutely insufferable. I now actively dislike her and care not even a little bit about her story. She makes stupid decision after stupid decision, she flip flops on her feelings for Eldridge constantly, she treats him like crap, and their 'love story' doesn't really make coherent sense. She goes from actively disliking him to claiming to love him, but she won't tell him for some reason, and back to disliking him again. The two of them together make no sense, and I just kept hoping Eldridge would tell her "nevermind, you're garbage and I deserve better" because he does. She also gets irrationality angry when random fae don't immediately fawn over her and want to help her and listen to her incessant rambling.
The story as a whole was okay, despite the plot holes, and would have been way more entertaining if Freya wasn't so terrible. One gripe I do have is the repetitive use of 'snarled' when it absolutely makes no sense and doesn't fit. 'he snarled' 'she snarled', these characters are snarling damn near every other line of dialogue at each other. It knocked me out of the story every time.
I've been waiting through nearly 3 books for some smut, but them finally sleeping together came out of left field. She seemed to barely be thinking anything positive about him and then BAM they do it. Then the next morning she's UPSET that they had great sex all night long because it wasn't magical enough or something, even though Eldridge literally changed the entire atmosphere with magic the whole time they were together. She just doesn't seem to like or appreciate him that much. I didn't feel any heat or chemistry between them in this book, and it was definitely there in the first two books.
Eldridge is also confusing. As the story goes on, he seems more like a regular mortal man than some immortal, powerful goblin king. He adds exactly nothing to the story, except to follow Freya around like a puppy. He seems way less powerful than his subjects, and (again) this makes no sense.
In conclusion, this could have been a whole lot better. The bones of a good story are here, but it could have been written so much better. I was really disappointed because I liked the first two books a lot and was wanting to finish the whole series, but now I don't know if I want to slog through the next two books or not.
(This is the first time I've written a more detailed review and it probably isn't as good as it could be, but I NEEDED to write all this out.)

When I finished this book all I could think was “thank god it’s over.”
I’m really quite done with freyas morally righteous savior behavior. She’s such an annoying MC to me and if the plot were good just her alone would be a reason enough for me to not pick up this series again. She can’t take a joke, I super rude and goes about like she owns the place, and her prejudice really does fucking die hard.
The romance took quite a jarring turn in this book by jumping straight from cute flirting to sex with minimal foreplay. Idk the whole scene just seemed out of place given what they were doing (trying to find a mass murder who was killing pixies with every second they were wasting) and was kind of a buzzkill. I was expecting so much for the head of this slow burn but it really was just lackluster and made me think “what the hell? You’re doing this now? How inappropriate-and not in a good way.” It was the first ever sex scene I’ve read that I didn’t enjoy.
Idk and the goblin king just went real downhill in this book. He went from being an all powerful, commanding dommy daddy and to a cinnamon roll who cries in the dark bc he’s having bad dreams. And usually cinnamon roll characters are great, but we’ve already got one with Arrow we don’t need another. He was so morally grey and so sexy in the first book, and now he’s just… there? I’m not sure how to describe my feelings he’s just not as strong of a character as he was before. He seems more mortal than freya at times, I think the author forgets sometimes that he’s an all powerful almost godlike being in this realm.
The plot is so predictable as well it’s incredibly juvenile. I’d call it YA if the oddly timed sex scene wasn’t there.
This series caught my eye because it sounded so unique..a love story about a Goblin! The world is quite immersive. I enjoyed the series and look forward to reading more ❤️
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Could this book be any more perfection? I don't think so. This book is absolute perfection. I enjoyed this book more than the second one. Even though I also love the second book, but I enjoyed this one more. There are still some answers needed. Hopefully, we'll get it in the next book.
In this story, the villain is not the one we think it is. It is entirely someone we know. That's all I can say without giving the spoiler. The name of this book matches with the story.
I didn't like Freya's mother. Sure she had her reason to get into faerie realm, but it doesn't explain why she treated Freya harshly IMHO. At the same time, she was showering Esther with so much love. I don't understand her at all. Why teach Freya to stay away from goblins when goblins aren't the harmful one? Like I said, there are so many answers we require. I was glad that Freya was angry at her mother rather than jumping at her lap. Freya has the right to be angry. It hurts me that Freya's mother treated her so differently. Maybe there are some reasons behind it.
In this book, we get to see our beloved goblin king and Freya's relationship grow toward the sky. As always, Freya is the hero. What is remarkable about her is she is compassionate. She always gives chances to others. She is really kind. What I really love about her is she is practical. She always put her loved ones first. She always focuses on the tasks that needed to be done. At the same time, being wooed by the goblin king.
I don't think I need to say anything new about my king. Because I fell in love with him. And he has entirely ruined me for real guys out there. As always, loved Arrow. His friendship with Freya is the best.
I still don't like Esther. But I like Lux.
I and Freya, we think so much alike, I am afraid that Emma Hamm has written this series keeping me in her mind😂. I could relate to Freya so much. This book was an absolute 5 stars 🌟 for me. Completely worth every second reading this book 📖.
This was as creepy as all get-out. Which means this was also the best installment so far.
The conflict here was serious. It involved a serial killer with a 50+ body count. Pixies with their wings gruesomely bitten off and left in crates. A missing mother. A mining town with powerful dark spells that show you your greatest fear. A hidden legacy. A conniving leader. I barely skipped pages.
Add to that seeing the hero weep when he lost the heroine in his nightmare. Add to this seeing the adorable dog Arrow curl up from fear of being left alone. And then seeing the kind, humble eyes of the wolf serial killer? The turmoil and emotion and confusion!
I actually had a feeling at the beginning that the wolf would be her dad. She did mention that he had knowing eyes, after all.
Why is she so powerful? I think the author has to give Eldridge a chance to show how powerful he is too. It’s always just her. While I love an ultra powerful heroine (as in she’s a queen smiter), I also want to see Eldridge working his mojo.
The characters are so well written. Eldridge is not the omnipotent hero/king here. He has flaws, he gets hangry, he makes terrible decisions, and he needs saving most of the time. I love it. Eldridge takes on the role of a wife trope here. He’s not in the limelight, but his support and loyalty and devotion is what makes Freya become so powerful.
Freya on the other hand was acting like a bitch. At one point, I thought that some kind of curse has befallen her that made her think such bitchy thoughts. Or maybe it’s just because Freya has a temper and is very uptight.

I'm just starting to read this book, as I loved the first parts, Freya and Eldridge never disappoint, but expect my final review as soon as I finish it.
Emma, for God's sake, how can you leave us like this?
Named you my favourite author of all time, I don't know if my forties would have been the same without your books, I've read all your books and none of them have disappointed me 🥺, I love the narrative of each one, as well as the characters and the way they develop.
What can I say about Of Pixies and Spells?
That it was magnificent, and I mean it, the book continues where we left off with the second one, we get to read a Freya uncomfortable in her new life, how that "assassin" and how she feels her relationship with Eldridge is not defined. Freya is one of the most warrior-like and intelligent female characters I have ever had the pleasure to read, I love her skill and perseverance in every situation, I love how she puts aside her fears to face what she fears the most and save her loved ones.
And what can we say about Eldridge?
In Of Goblins and gold I thought he would be the typical male character who did everything on a whim, but he evolved into my beloved Goblin King, ah Emma, I love him too much don't be so rude to him please, let's make a deal for him 🤭.
Being the third book, it feels more mature and hot (loved chapter 17, my favourite) and it's appreciated.
I want to know more about Freya and Eldridge's love story, I want to know what else they're going to face and how they're going to overcome it.
Emma, I really, really promise to read all your books from now until forever.

I’ve been enjoying Freya’s journey from the begining of book one. I want to start by saying I really appreciate her character. She is strong willed, courageous, clever, thoughtful and just a little tricksy. She uses all of these super powers to make her way through the faery lands and outsmart her opponents throughout her quests. After finishing book 2 I was very excited for the idea that she would be traveling along with her companions. Instead of spending her time trying to get to her companions. It changed the game! I’m happy to spend more time with the Goblin. It was nice to watch both the relationship with Eldridge and also the relationship with Arrow change and grow. I really enjoyed the dialogue and the interaction between these 3. As far as the journey, I was NOT expecting it go down the way that it did, although I was slow to trust a few of the people in the spring court. The conclusion took me almost by surprise. I’m excited for more, I cannot wait to see where these characters go next. I was so grateful to have a chance to start this story and read an ARC copy.

Emma Hamm has become one of my favorite authors. Her world building is phenomenal and she always leaves the reader intrigued and wanting the story to continue. I can't wait g or the next book in the series. Freya is living in the Goblins king's castle but doesn't get to see him often and boredom is starting to set in, after all she is known in the kingdom as the queen killer but has nothing to keep her occupied. Freya finds out her mother is alive so she and the Goblin King set out to find her mother who is being held in the Spring Kingdom. Freya was once a prisoner of the Queen of the spring kingdom and is not looking forward to dealing with her again. Of course Freya beats the queen at her own gains and frees her mother. Freya has to work on forgiving her mother for abandoning she and her sister. My favorite part of the book is that Goblin King finally tells Freya how he feels about her. I am anxiously waiting on the next book in the series.
