Dane Russ and Val Montgomery don't look like villains.

The world knows them as the whiz kids who skyrocketed to fame and fortune with their wildly successful trading company—before they lost it all in a humiliating hostile takeover. Now, bored out of their minds at respectable nine-to-five jobs, the pair plot the demise of everyone who's ever wronged them. Including each other.

Val aims to destroy Geraldo, the man who stole their company. Meanwhile, Dane just wants to get even with Noelle, the woman who publicly dumped him. All he needs to do is woo her back, then break her heart. Easy.

When Geraldo's daughter shows up in an internship program, Val plots to send the girl home to daddy with her ethics compromised. and she ropes Dane in to distract him from a fake romance that's beginning to look too real. Behind a sterling reputation, Val weaves a nefarious plan to ruin Geraldo's daughter, eliminate Noelle, and seduce Dane for herself. But by crossing Dane, she's lit a powder keg, and it's about to go off.

Thanks to the author and Romance Chick Party Palooza on Facebook.

If you want a really good description of this book, read the plot on the back cover.

Per the author's notes, it based on the book Dangerous Liaisons and also the movie I presume with Glenn Close. I've never read the book nor watched the movie but now I think I would get a better perspective of it if I do.

A lot going on in this book and I sort of understood it but yet I didn't. It wasn't my type of book but yet it kept me reading until the end. By the end of the book, my mind was spinning!

This book intrigued me from the synopsis alone. I didn't know what to expect, and I couldn't wait to dive in!

I am a massive fan of Mary Ann Marlowe and this book did not disappoint. If you are a fan of Dangerous Liaisons, you need to read this book.
This is not a funny, cute romance. This book is filled with power, control and lust. Each character has so many layers that intrigued me from the very first page. I needed to know more about their story, their background and their motivations. As the story progressed, I honestly couldn't predict what was going to happen. It was captivating. There were so many surprises, roles to play, and twists and turns. It was entertaining from start to finish.

I highly recommend this antihero romance.

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is definitely not a romance, dark and devious is more like it. Each page leads to more intrigue that will make you keep reading until you’re completely hooked and need more by this author.

Wow. What a wild ride with some complicated characters. Did I immediately hate them? Or did I hate that I sometimes liked them?
Trying to piece together events of the past, what was true, & what was just part of a game made this story get interesting very quickly.
Using flashbacks, emails, & multiple points of view, this is one well-named game of chess wrapped up in a book. This could be case study in love vs obsession, how completely power can corrupt, & who is capable of redemption.
I honestly had no idea through most of the story which characters were going to be left standing @ the end, & which were going to end up as collateral damage. After it became apparent who I hoped would go down in flames, I literally couldn’t put the book down until I knew.

I was happy to read an ARC provided by BookSirens & this is my honest review.

This was an interesting read with characters trying to get ahead of the game through manipulation with power control and lust. There was always more to a character then meets the eye and it was so intriguing that I couldn't put it down.

An interesting story with a dark suspenseful theme. I liked the way the story played out. I liked the characters. Their interactions were strife with tension and palpable energy.

I requested a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book sucked me in from the beginning. The characters were complex and it was easy to love them one minute, loathe them the next. With all the games, obsessions, and deception in the story I honestly didn’t know how it would end, but I was pleased with how it wrapped up.

This is a gripping and seductive tale of cat-and-mouse games, revenge, and forbidden attraction, making it a perfect fit for readers who crave complex, morally ambiguous characters, high-stakes office politics, and a slow-burning, intense romance that will keep them on the edge of their seats.

I was lucky enough to read an early copy of this baby, and it sucked me in from page one. Utterly engrossing. Deviously dark and fast paced. Great read!
