White supremacists have climbed their way to the top.
It’s his job to bring them down.
Vince Bellator, former Special Services Operative, arrives in Dead Springs, Alabama to honor his late friend’s dying wish.
On his way, Vince has an unsettling run-in with a group of local heavily-armed militiamen. Sensing that the group is more than just a violent mob, Vince decides to infiltrate their ranks. It’s not long before he discovers who they really are: a highly dangerous faction of white supremacists who call themselves The Brethren.
As he delves deeper into their ranks, Vince uncovers the group’s sickening plot, an act of national terror that will wreak devastation on America and all it stands for.
With the FBI unconvinced and government officials colluding with Brethren leaders, can Vince stop the terrorist cell before it’s too late?
I received a gifted advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via Lovebookstours.
Firepower is a fast paced all action book from start to finish and really didn't disappoint. Vince is an ex special Ops soldier, highly trained and deadly. When hiking to his friends cabin (to bury his hand as per his dying request), he comes across three white supremacist Neo-Natzis. They decide to cross Vince and it doesn't end well for them. Vince undergoes a personal mission to bring his dead friends brother Bobby home from their clutches to his Mum (who's already lost one son) when he discovers Bobby is their prisoner. This book was superbly written and although fast paced it was easy to follow, well scripted and gripped me from the beginning. This is the first book in a new series and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. John Cutter is definitely a writer to watch out for!
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. OK, so it's a premise we have seen before a few times. Ex special forces, trying to mind his own business ends up in trouble that he just can't walk away from. Throw in a beautiful woman (No more due to spoilers) and you already have a winning template. However, this book goes a little further in that the pace is exactly right, the writing is perfect to keep the reader engrossed, informed but never bored and the plot is a solid one. I will definitely look out for this author again. I'm actually quite excited to add him to my 'must look out for' list. Many thanks.
We know the story: ex-Special Ops guy trying to fulfill his dying pal's wish runs into trouble and uses his brains and his brawn to do it.
Vince Bellator is the ex-SpecOps person in question, and while hiking in the woods and minding his own business, he encounters three white supremacists who should have stayed in bed that day instead of challenging him. When I realized Bellator would be punching nazis and white supremacists, I automatically gave it another star. as I am a huge fan of that.
Bellator realizes that there's lot more going on here that your usual idiots playing nazi in the woods, so decides to infiltrate the group. He does this, and begins gathering intel, determined that this particular group of nazis will be taken down. His problem, once in, is how to get the information out.New members are scrutinized very carefully, and no one is allowed to keep weapons on their person except those charged with security.
Along the way, Bellator finds an unlikely companion within the compound who is more than she seems. They realize that these nazis are arranging a large-scale, coordinated attack on some government officials - and now they have to stop it.
I won't go further than that for spoilery reasons, except to say that I bet Bellator wished he were Spider-Man crawling up the face of a cliff at a point late in the book.
There's quite a bit of suspended disbelief required, but I think that there's at least a little in every book, no matter the genre. Fans of this kind of book will enjoy it, no doubt.
Four out of five stars from me.
Thanks to Lume Books and NetGalley for the reading copy.
A very solid thriller in the vigilante sub-genre. The outline is familiar: our hero is ex-special forces, forced out by conscience/malevolence, drifting, fulfilling a promise to an army buddy; he falls into the middle of a conspiracy of grave danger to civilians; and becomes a one man army to deal with the threat.
So the tropes are familiar, but the author tells his story well: the characters are convincingly drawn, the plot moves quickly, the stakes are high, the action sequences are inventively choreographed, and the hero is someone who you want to know more about.
I look forward to additional stories in this series.
So although I have read many all action books with the same kind of storyline, with a former special forces just laying his head low trying to live his life and ends up in a whole heap of trouble, this one stands out above the others for more reasons that one.
One thing that makes this book stand out is the fact that the author transports you into the book while you are reading it, you end up being there in the action. This book kept hold of my attention all the way through it, the characters are engaging , realistic (to a point) and ones that you would love to see more of in the series .
This is the first book I have read by this author and as I love fast paced action books like this is certainly won't be my last!
Big thank you to the author, publisher and to lovebookstour for the chance to read and review this book!
I won’t lie but this book was very similar to another book series about an ex special forces operative, just trying to go about his life and inadvertently becoming involved in a plot to cause harm to others. However, that is in no way a criticism and I am a big fan of these kind of novels. Fast paced, action packed, and great characters! What’s not to like? It was well written with great descriptive writing. The plot was cleverly thought out and gripping with a good pace and lots of well written action sequences. A must for all crime thriller fans.
This was a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
The author is obviously passionate about his writing and has put thought into making the story as believable as possible. However something didn't quite hit the mark for me.
After fulfilling the wish of his dying friend, Vince makes it his mission to help find his friends brother Bobby, sparing his mother of losing another son. Bobby in the grasps of white supremacists, Vince uses his knowledge as a former special services operative to hopefully free Bobby in time.
Although the narrative was fast paced, I couldn't fine my connection to the story. The premise of the book is great and the storyline is good, but there was something missing for me.
I feel that someone who has a bigger love for this particular genre would be hooked by this storyline.
I'd definitely try another book by this author but on this occasion it just wasn't for me.
Thank you @lovebookstours and @lumebooks for the chance to read this in return for a spot on the tour and possible honest review.
Lots of action from start to finish. While finishing a hike, Vince is confronted by a group of Neo-Nazis. Their mistake! Their organization, headed by a self-proclaimed general, has a compound, uniforms, and a plan to eliminate non-whites, Jews, and their supporters. Nice doesn’t want this to happen, so he gets to work in an entertaining, fast-paced story. I received an advanced digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily provided an honest review.
💫 LOVE BOOKS TOUR REVIEW 💫 [Firepower || John Cutter] • Thank you to @lumebooks and @lovebookstours for a free e-copy of this book and the opportunity to be a part of another awesome boom tour. • • Blurb • White supremacists have climbed their way to the top. It’s his job to bring them down. • Vince Bellator, former Special Services operative, arrives in Dead Springs, Alabama to honor his late friend’s dying wish: to bury his hand under the porch of his hunting cabin. • But on the way, Vince has an unsettling run-in with a group of local heavily armed militiamen. • Sensing that the group is more than just a violent mob, Vince decides to infiltrate their ranks. He discovers that they are an outfit of white supremacists who call themselves The Brethren. But what sets them apart from other such extremists is that they are in the midst of planning an act of national terror. • Not only that, they are also harbouring a prisoner - someone with a connection to Vince. • With the FBI unconvinced and government officials colluding with Brethren leaders, Vince realizes it is up to him to put a stop to the would-be terrorist cell. But can he do so before they wreak devastation on America and all it stands for. • I really enjoyed this read more than I anticipated. The main character, Vince, held my attention the entire time. I thought I would be off-put by the white supremacy with everything going on in today's society but I liked that the focus was to infiltrate & take them down. • Fans of Lee Child and James Patterson need look no further: full-throttle political thrills await you from the first page • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fast paced and action packed thriller and I really enjoyed this book. This is the first book I've read by John Cutter and definitely be adding more of his work.
Vincent, an ex special op soldier goes undercover to infiltrate a group of Neo-Nazis and to rescue his best friend's brother and stop their plan. I don't want to spoil the story so will stop there.
This story is well written and I found it easy to follow. I was gripped from the beginning to end. The writing style is simply brilliant and so detailed, I was able to picture so clearly in my head. Book ended with an exciting climax which leads nicely to the next book. I can not wait for the second book to come out. Highly recommend for a thriller addict.
Firepower is a high octane ride which had me gripped from the first page. It’s nicely written and very easy to read with a solid plot and enough twists and turns to keep me reading late in to the night.
Vince is a great character with a strong moral compass who isn’t afraid to put his life in jeopardy for the good of others. The action is non stop (the fight choreography is particularly well written) and he’s not afraid to kick ass and take names.
The book climaxed with an exciting and bloody finale which leads nicely on to the follow up book, which I can’t wait to get my hands on.
I’d thoroughly recommend Fire Power to all thriller lovers. John Cutter is definitely an author to look out for!
This book really grabbed me from the outset and did not let up! A shorter than average read at 236 pages, it's a pacy thriller that would be a perfect holiday read for lovers of action filled, gun toting thrillers rather than mystery thrillers. Vince is an interesting protagonist, who ends up embroiled in a situation he refuses to turn a blind eye to, and his strong moral compass really drives the narrative. This is the first book in the series, and the bloody finale truly sets up the action for book 2!
Not a great book by any means but when the main story line is an ex-special forces vet who goes about kicking white supremacists and neo-nazi asses.....it can't be all bad. There are clearly other books in this series and forewarning: Vince Bellator takes no prisoners.
This was a heart-pounding, intense story and my first book written by John Cutter. I'll definitely be reading more of this series. I rate Firepower 5 stars.

My thoughts
This is a well written story that is action packed – so much action in a relatively short book (236) pages to be exact. There are shootings and fighting which I could see on the big screen.
The action never stops which kept me intrigued along with the solid plot I was rooting for the main protagonist of the story – Vince Bellator’.
I wish the book had been longer and maybe got to know more about Vince, however as this is one in a series, it will be good to find out more about the hero of the book.

Such a brilliant book.i liked the fact that it took the time to explain things but also enough time to give the juicy bits. A lot of books take a while doing the explaining and then the main bit seems rushed but not in this case. We get back story, current story and an amazing ending. It's also daunting to read thinking that this could actually happen in real life. Excellently written I would highly recommend if you like crime, thriller, vigilante style books

Firepower definitely isn’t my normal read. But I found myself really enjoying it. The story pulled me in straight away and held my attention really well. The main character Vince Bellator is a former special service operative and very likeable.
The story is action packed and very fast paced right to the end. It definitely didn’t disappoint. This is a great book for anyone into action crime story’s.

Fast paced and action packed, I really couldn't put it down until I found out how it ended! I loved the different characters and how they interacted. Lots of details around the attacks etc, but that did made it feel authentic. The struggle between the lone agent and the white supremacy group, and their turning into a domestic terrorist unit was tense. Will the agent succeed in stopping the deadly threat?
