The title says it all: this is an easy-to-read and friendly introduction to Japanese Cuisine: history, background, recipes, regional specialties, and even seasonal treats. The descriptions are brief and won't overwhelm you; there are illustrations for everything covered and the book is nicely graphic. In addition to the history/descriptions of food items you will also get short recipes to make them yourself.
