Does hating me feel as good for you as it does for me?
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

TROUBLE WITH YOU: Is the first book in the 'Rixon Raiders' series, by author L.A. Cotton. Each book within the series can be read as complete stand alones. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'

Cute moments. Sexy moments. Drama Filled moments. Angsty moments. Bully moments. All these moments made for an un-put-downable enjoyable read!!

Lately bully books are my kryptonite and this one here was no exception. A slow burn that got it's hooks into me and didn't let go. I loved how strong our heroine Hailee was, no matter what was thrown at her she held her head up high and came fighting back, her stepbrother Jason nicely termed was an a-hole and his minions (Asher & Cameron) weren't that much better.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Everything changed within a blink of an eye when Jason and his father moved in with Hailee and her mother, since then they had been at war ever since. It's also around that time when things between Cameron Chase the boy she thought wanted to be her friend no longer seemed interested and instead seemed more invested in taunting her along with her step brother.

The boys who reigned over the school.
The boys that bullied one girl
The town that worshiped the ground these footballers walked on.
The rivalry between two opposing football team, the Eagles
And amongst it all a hate to love you relationship blossomed.
The 'Trouble with You' ticked all my boxes.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Now Hailee was eagerly counting down the days until she was free, she only had to survive her senior year then she could leave the town and their beloved football team behind her. She was hoping to get accepted into Michigan's Stamps School of Art and Design.

High school drama ✔️
Teenage angst ✔️
An A-hole Stepbrother ✔️
Rivals ✔️
Bullies ✔️
Hot Footballers ✔️
Enemies to Lovers ✔️

Her stepbrother was the guy, legends were made of, he had a one way ticket straight into the NFL and his right hand man was Cameron Chase, Rixon Riders star wide receiver, he's also Jason's best friend.

I'd spent almost six years hating him. For being Jason's sidekick. For standing by, even helping, my stepbrother make my life hell. I hated their stupid football team, I hated what they stood for, what they presented. But I couldn't deny that although I hated Rixon Raiders with every fiber of my being, I was pretty sure I was falling for one.

Two things I disliked about this book..One was the major book hangover it threw me into and two I never wanted it to end. But it's definitely spiked up the anticipation levels for the next book. I can't wait to get my hands on it!!

I love LA Cotton books so when I saw she had a new series coming I was so excited.

The trouble with you had me hooked and I devoured it in one go.

Cameron is now firmly on my LA Cotton book boyfriend list with Maverick and Jackson.

An enemies to lovers, slow burn romance with all of the angst. There was so much drama that I just couldn’t put it down because I had to know what was going to happen. The characters were always throwing curveballs your way, theories that I was coming up with as I was reading... yeah I was so wrong! Also can I just state... high school kids are cruel!

I also want to adopt Asher lol!

L.A Cotton slayed it with this new series that is a MUST read.

I can’t wait for Jason’s book!

When I saw the blurb for this book, I was immediately interested, and when I saw some of the early reviews from my friends on GR...I knew I had to read it as soon as possible! Of course, my lovely friends never lead me astray and so I have to admit that this book was absolutely awesome !!!

so much awesomeness gif - Google zoeken

The second I started to read, I was pulled into the story and I didn't put the book down until I was finished. I have never read a book by this author before, but I can tell you I will be going through all of them now because I really liked the writing style... The fact that this book has all my favorite tropes, was a big plus as well ;)

tums up gif - Google zoeken

I also love books that take place in highschool or college....takes me back and makes me feel a bit young again9f01372377900d9203bc4efe48eb1659

Hailee is senior in high school and she can't wait to finish this last year, and finally get away from Rixon and especially from Jase...Rixon's very own QP and Hailee's tormentor aka stepbrother. Now don't go getting this wrong because this is NOT a stepsibling romance. These two really do hate each other's guts and especially Jase takes his bullying to the extreme. But with Jase also comes his minions...Asher and Cameron.

two miniosn gif - Google zoeken

Cameron who once was almost Hailee's friend, but who turned out to be just as bad as her stepbrother....or is he ???

I loved the whole enemies to lovers theme, but I also loved the friendships and the dynamics between all characters. So curious how everything is gonna turn out. Hailee and Cameron were definitely made for each other...I am actually a bit jealous of Cameron because Hailee is pretty awesome if I say so myself. Just how I like my heroines.

I loved this book so hard !! I am sure it is gonna end up on my "Top 10 Reads" list of 2019. That said, we will be getting more books so who knows how many are gonna end up on that list. I have a feeling Jase's book is gonna be pretty interesting. I am a HUGE fan of redeemable assholes and he is the perfect specimen for that trope.

I can't wait...I need MORE !! Right now, please !!!!!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go through all this author's books :P

Highly recommended !!!

***1 book-by-sadist-about-continual-sexual-assault-romanticized-in-a -school-where-they're-only-in-the-cafeteria/at a party/football game star***

The catch phrase the male lead used throughout the book on the female lead was “You can run but you can’t hide.” - said every creepy stalker/serial killer ever.

How the boys in the book spoke about girls - how attractive, consider me wooed -

“Khloe wasn’t the kind of girl you saved. She was the kind of girl you fucked and then moved on.”

“Sara’s got too much of a smart mouth for me. I like my women to talk less and suck more.”

Blame the girl for your perverted thoughts - how chivalrous, I've been won over -

“Of course she’d had to storm into the kitchen wearing nothing but thin pajamas, her silky hair hanging over her shoulders like a huge fucking arrow saying ‘look at my tits’.
I forced myself to look away, silently commanding my dick to stand down.”

A splash of Higher than thou attitude & treating people like dirt is exactly what'll score you points in my book, keep it up -

“Mr. Chase.” Mr. Henson sounded pissed. “I’d like you take your usual—”
“Change of plan, Sir.” He didn’t even look at Mr. Henson. “I’ll be needing a seat at the back. Jones,” Cameron addressed the guy beside me. “Move.” The guy already sitting there almost tripped over himself to move.

Toxic female best friend the h should've gotten rid off -

The stylist/party coaxer otherwise known as the bff for no reason was a user. She was using the F to get to her hot step-bro. She left the F unattended at a party where she was roofied & filmed sans clothing. And after the incident she keeps forcing the F to get into a relationship with her bully of 6 years...nice. She was desperate to become friends with the F's tormentors just because it was their "last year in high school" & they were popular hot jocks. Doesn't look like friendship to me but the author thinks otherwise. She blatantly used the F to be able to be around her "hot bro". The "bff" was the most pathetic thing about this books, she used the F dry because she had the hots for her bro. The F was actually good.

When "NO" means "Yes" - oh how adorable we find deaf ears, non-consent, cornering & use of force, I'm charmed -

1.
“That was... you can’t do that.”
“I can’t kiss you?” I teased. “I think I just did.”
“Well, don’t do it again.” Oh, she wanted me to do it again all right, she just didn’t want to admit it.

2.“I do not,” she countered. “This... us... I hate you,” she seethed, but I wasn’t done playing with her. Sliding my hand along the curve of her neck, I leaned down, brushing my lips over the shell of her ear. “You can hate me all you want, Sunshine, but it doesn’t change the fact you’re probably wet for me right now.”

3.“Fuck you,” she spat, trying to move around me, but I pinned her in place, sliding my leg between hers and pressing gently. I wanted to touch her, to test my theory. But I knew I shouldn’t. Knew if I did, I might want to do it again, and that would be a dangerous thing indeed.

4.“Cameron, if you don’t get off me in the next three seconds, I will—” A strangled moan left her lips as if she was fighting her own body when I ground my knee further into her

5.“Get. Your. Fucking. Hands. Off. Me.” The venom in her words had me backing away slowly. She looked furious, anger rolling off her in dark waves. But Hailee could deny it all she wanted; I felt the chemistry between us. The push and pull.

6.“Stay away from me, Cameron.”
But as she walked away from me, I knew I was screwed.
Because the rules had changed, and I knew I couldn’t stay away from her.

7.“Cameron,” I finally said breaking the tension. “I should go.”
“You can’t go,” he said
“Cameron, I’m not doing this.” Whatever this was. “I’m not—” One of his hands slid along my collarbone, gliding up my neck, his thumb stroking the skin there.

8.“Cameron,” I said jabbing my fingers into his ribs when he didn’t move. “Get the hell off me.”

9.“I’m leaving now,” I said roughly. “Please don’t follow me.” I slipped out from between him and started walking away but his hand snagged my wrist.

And lastly, when the F had her nude video posted all over town what does the first thing the M do after consoling her for 5 min? Have sex with her. And the way this author brushed off the whole traumatic incident was disgusting. It was like a blip on the radar. Yeah sure everyone gets roofied, stripped naked, surrounded by guys laughing when the girl is unconscious & get the video posted & everyone just moves on. No PTSD whatsoever. Bff forces her into a relationship with her bully. There are real world girls out there who this has happened to, they deal with the trauma for years - Case in point - Steubenville, Ohio incident. It's not something to be written about so lightly. Shame on you writer.

It started out well with a lot of faux hate and misogyny wrapped up in some sort of weird step-sibling dynamic, but it soon became tedious, repetitive, and overly long. Didn't like Cameron and could barely stand Hailee.

There were a lot of things that bothered me about this story.
-First, what is wrong with the adults in here? The only ones who were kind of normal were Cameron's parents. I hated Hailee's mother, and Jason's father. And what is wrong with the teachers? Hailee gets openly bullied and they don't do anything (the same can be said about Hailee's mom). I mean, are they stupid or something?
-I also hated Felicity. She is probably the worst friend ever. Her friend gets bullied by Jason, but Felicity still thinks he is hot? Still wants his attention? What is wrong with this woman?
-And about the love story. Cameron has bullied Hailee since they met, mostly because Jason does too. She takes it all quietly, never reporting them to the school or her mom (maybe she did, but her idiotic mother didn't do a thing). After a while, she starts retaliating with her own pranks. All this shit show ends when Cameron humiliates her in public.
I guess I could have gotten over it if the guy managed to redeem himself. But that didn't happen. He doesn't even apologize. He just tells her that he was protecting her from her step-brother's wrath.
And she stills forgives him. I mean, seriously?
-I guess this might be a spoiler, but I really think Jason (her step-brother) is kind of a sociopath.
-About the soundtrack of the book... it should have included "toxic". It is a song that really represents the love story.

My fave trope, you people...*wink*

Oh, la la...well, in one word I LOVED it! And that would be three words actually LOL

I'm also wary with YA/NA books dealing in this trope ever since I have read the Fallen Crest High series, cause well, I'm also annoyed with myself, as how much I tend to seek the trades of my fave characters in others...urgh...not a good quality, i know BUT I have to say that THIS BOOK and THESE CHARACTERS Cameron Chase and Hailee Raine are maybe my next fave...

drama, angst, pent up action, chemistry, rivalry, friendship, hardship, loyalty and eventually love are set in Rixon High School, senior year...
It wasn't that I wanted her. I didn't. I just didn't like the idea of anyone else having her either

says our Raider High football wide receiver star Cameron Chase about Hailee Raine, his teammate OB and best friend's step-sister. And well, they are NOT on a very good terms either,
He was my step-brother's best friend. A Raider. Not to mention, he was one of my tormentors. Cameron Chase was everything I hated.

and damn, that chemistry...
I wanted her so fucking much. But I wanted a lot of things. College. A football scholarship. A bright future. But sometimes dreams didn't come true...

But as she walked away from me, I knew I was screwed. beacuse the rules had changed and I knew I couldn't stay away from her.

Fresh approach to the story, very well written filled with palpable tension and banter and I simply loved every minute of it!

And I will definitely follow the next book and its characters story *wink*

Five amazing stars for Hailee and Cameron 😍😍😍!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the first book I've read by L. A. Cotton and OMG this is one the best Young Adult book that I've read this year!!!

I really love Lianne's writing style because this book had an interesting storyline, beautiful characters and brings you so many different feelings throughout reading the whole story.

This was one of the books which you need to read all night because you need to know what happens next.

Enemies to lovers, angst, drama and more... This book has everything I've ever want in Young Adult books.

Hailee and Cameron are a beautiful couple.

At first, they were friends but because of Jason (Hailee's stepbrother), they become enemies. But the truth was that whole time Cameron is in love with her.

Cameron is one of my favorite male characters in YA books. He's a kind of the guy you think is a bad boy but then you find out that was just a mask that he was using to be popular between his friends.

Hailee is one of the strongest female characters I've ever met in books. She has the one goal and that is to finish high school and goes to college and be further as possible from Jason and his friends who make her live miserably. But in the end, she finds out that everything she needs is right next to her.

P. S. I can't wait for the second book in this series and need it right now.

I really looking forward to reading Flick's and Jason's story.

Highly recommended!!!

***4,5 "You can run, but you can't hide!!!" stars***

"You don't hate me. You hate yourself. I'm everything you loathe, but you want me anyway."

I was flirting with this book for a long time and I'm mentally screaming to myself why i haven't pick it up earlier, but now i know... I was waiting to binge reading the whole series and I'm so happy that i waited, especially after this ending and the craving for Jason and Frick's story!!!!
I enjoyed this book so much and i can not wait to find more about everyone!!!!
I loved so much Hailee and Felicity and the three boys had stolen my heart for different reasons!!!
Seriously now... In Rixon are insane with football... Okay... We can call them fans, but in a wild way!!! And I totally agree with Hailee with this madness!!!!

"Being a Rixon Rider came with a certain set of privileges. We were treated like gods in the halls at school; and outside the school gates, around town, wasn’t much different. It was easy to get swept up in it all. The girls. The attention. The respect."

Well, Hailee and her stepbrother, Jason, are hating each other's guts... No scratch that!!! Jason is hating Hailee's guts and he is making her life miserable for many years now...
One more year and she will be out of this town and this house with a tyrant living next door from hers...
But, no, don't you think that she is just a bullying victim... The girl gives hell back to him and in a way, i think that they are enjoying way too much their rival...
But deep down inside, Hailee just want for Jason to accept her...

"He loved nothing more than to piss me the hell off and I loved nothing more than spending my days plotting my sweet revenge."

Hmmm... Now, you will think that Jason is the other part of the equation, right??? You know, forbidden love between stepsiblings...
But no, you will be wrong if you will think it!!!!
The other part is Cameron Chase... Jason's best friend... And in a way, a participant to this rival between Jason and Hailee...
So, there is a bad blood between them and hate... so much hate... Or not???

"It wasn't that I wanted her. I didn't. I just didn't like the idea of anyone else having her either."

"He was my step-brother's best friend. A Raider. Not to mention, he was one of my tormentors. Cameron Chase was everything I hated."

Well, i won't say much more... You got the general idea...
Hailee is off limits for everyone because Jason said so... She is off limits, especially for his best friends...
But when some prank is turning wrong, Hailee is in the middle of a big rival and Cameron just can't stay away from her anymore...

"I'd spent almost six years hating him. For being Jason's sidekick. For standing by, even helping, my stepbrother make my life hell. I hated their stupid football team, I hated what they stood for, what they presented. But I couldn't deny that although I hated Rixon Raiders with every fiber of my being, I was pretty sure I was falling for one."

"But as she walked away from me, I knew I was screwed. Beacuse the rules had changed and I knew I couldn't stay away from her."

Well, i loved both Hailee and Cameron...
Hailee wasn't fragile, even with all this bullying... She wasn't backing down no matter what and that wasn't always good!!!
Cameron was standing always against her but something is changing...
He, from the other hand, was so sweet and protective... Of everyone and that was a beautiful quality of him!!!!
He had much pressure upon his shoulders and he was divided of what he should do after all... With his life, with his family, with his future, with Hailee...
But he was a really good friend... I have to admit it!!!

"This isn't a game, Cameron. This, us, it's not attraction you feel; it's hate. I. Hate. You."
"Keep telling yourself that, Sunshine."

"I wanted her so fucking much. But I wanted a lot of things. College. A football scholarship. A bright future. But sometimes dreams didn't come true..."

Well, this story was soooo good... It was more than i was expecting and i can not wait to read the rest of the books....
Jason is too... much and I'm afraid that he will become my favorite at the end... Honestly, i'm waiting impatiently to see how it will be played this thing between him and Felicity...
As for Asher??? He had already won my heart and I'm afraid that in the end he will be hurt and i don't want that for him...
Soooo.... Go riders!!!

"Don't get too used to it. I'm still the cold-hearted bastard you all love to hate." {Jason}

"This was high school. Kids were mean and got off on bringing each other down. But the real world, where things were hard and painful and uncertain was waiting for them. High school didn’t define me. I knew my worth, and this moment, right here, defined me."

I don’t know how to describe how I felt about this book.

Do you ever read a book where you know objectively there’s somethings wrong with it?? Not with the writing or anything just the general behaviour of some of the characters or the whole thing being a little over dramatic. But you kinda just ignore those things because you’re invested and having a good time?? Because that was me with this book. I listened to the audiobook and sped through it pretty quickly I was so into it. I’m so ready to read the rest of the series. Loved the romance and honestly loved all of the characters. It was a good time.

Yeah, no. There were A LOT of issues I had with this book. Maybe bully romances just aren’t for me, but there were more than a few scenes that rubbed me the wrong way. It was hard to read about all the bullying and abuse the main character received from her step-brother, knowing that her love interest helped facilitate a lot of it. Nobody with any shred of self-respect would be harbouring any romantic feelings for Cameron after the way he targets Hailee for no other reason than because her step-brother has his own issues with her.

Just a few things that I hated:

• The step-brother, Jace. Dude is an undiagnosed sociopath. He has no compassion or empathy, and I have no idea why he is receiving his own book. He has ISSUES that require professional help. His treatment of Hailee is not just teen angst. It’s cruel.

• Hailee’s best friend is garbage, secretly pursuing Hailee’s asshole of a step-brother and making her feel bad for not wanting to be around her bullies (at parties or their football games)

• Hailee is drugged, assaulted, and filmed at a party by a rival sports team, and absolutely nothing is done about it. It’s dismissed as nothing more than petty rivalry drama, and there is no discussion about reporting it. The whole thing is completely forgotten about, and never spoken of or thought about ever again. I literally have no clue as to why the author thought this was a good thing to put in the book if she wasn’t going to do anything responsible with it.

• Cameron and his friends are manwhores who like to sleep around, but get all caveman-like at the thought of Hailee dating anybody.

Save yourselves, y’all. And your time.

One of those books you devour like a movie is playing, unfolding in your mind. The Trouble With You is bully high school romance at its finest.

Loved and enjoyed every second of it. L.A. Cotton has a way to breath life into her characters like no other.

You start the book and it sucks you right in. You feel alive midst in this chaos of lies, hate, love, friendship, football and high school drama. This book is a perfect start to her new series and I can't wait to read more of this world!

Okay so this is one of those books where you've conflicted feelings.
The story all in all is a good read😅 though there were some points where I felt that the situations were too serious for a 17 year old person (being it for heroine or her whole dumbass bunch of 'friends'). Maybe we don't realise the problems some people out in the world are. Maybe sometimes problems don't consider the age group before attacking the person.

Character building was one of the best part here💕
Writing style too was amazing. I can imagine myself getting used to L.A Cotton's books!

After reading the story I'm sure I'm in a good place but there were few points which could have been better or few questions left unanswered.
But I definitely enjoyed this book, especially the first half!

Who ships Asher and Flick more than Jase and Flick? 🙋🏻‍♀️.
Tbh, I was more invested in the side characters love story (h bff with h’s step brother or the other H best friend) and its cuz I find the step brother, Jason, more interesting.

Buuut just because I felt that way doesn’t mean I hate the MCs cuz I love em. I love all the tropes in this book and I really am a sucker for petty teenage angsty books. It’s my guilty pleasure.

I love the heroine. She doesn’t take any shit from all the petty and humiliating pranks and fights back and she has something that a lot of heroines dont have just because the hero is hot: common sense and I really appreciate that.

Tropes:
stepbrother best friend
bully
enemies to lovers
slow burn
hate to love

‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾☆ 4.25 stars ☆☽༓・*˚⁺‧͙

huh so this was unexpected.
I liked this one A LOT. I don't know why, but I thought this was a college romance. I'm not mad is high school one, I love that shit.

So, the tropessss:
✨bully romance
✨enemies-to-lovers
✨step-brother's best friend
✨slow burn
✨athletes treated like gods
✨football H/artsy h
✨H been pining over h for years

so of course, I ate this shit up. I love all of these tropes (yes, i'm a basic bitch, leave me alone)

Hailee was a badass, she didn't take ANYONE's shit and I love her for it. She was THE heroine everyone wants in a bully romance. She fights back and is the complete opposite from a doormat. SHE WAS AWESOME. SHE IS MY BITCH.

Cameron was a sweet guy. Yeah, he bullied her throughout the book and years prior, but he just liked her a lot. I appreciate SO MUCH that he had a personality and background beyond just being a football guy. He had a lot of emotions and wasn't afraid to show them, which we stan.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS!!! Listen, y'all know I hate when authors use the secondary characters as aids for the main couple. This didn't disappoint me and gave me REAL people with lives and stories and problems and CONSISTENCY, which we ADORE. They were always there, AS NORMAL FRIENDS and they got me hooked into this world. There were a few bits and pieces left unresolved, but I can tell it's because it will be resolved in Jason's book.

I didn't give it 5 stars, cause there were a few jokes that I didn't like. A few things guys said that made me uncomfortable and just... no.

NOW, I don't really ship Flick with Asher or Jason, but I'm happy with either. I'm curious to see how the author will redeemed Jase as he was a COMPLETE ASSHOLE this book. Also, Flick isn't my favorite character. At the beginning she was a pretty shitty friend, but I warmed up to her as the story progressed. Now Asher is my boy, and I need him to be happy, I will be rooting for him till the end.

p.s. forgot to add, but the timing for the sex scenes were uncomfortable 💀💀 and the word “son”was WAY overused, I promise you coaches know other words.

Ahhh. I was completely hooked from the very first page. I spent the ENTIRE day reading it—neglecting my responsibilities and being completely engrossed. I don’t regret a thing!

Hailee was a spitfire who didn’t take crap from anyone; least of all her jerkface step-brother, Jason. What I liked about her most was that while she may have been tough, she showed a vulnerability that immediately made her more relatable.

Then there’s Cameron. He was...complex. But I’m glad we got his POV because it also showed us a side to him that he didn’t show the rest of the world. The way he was with Hailee didn’t exactly hit me as a hate to love trope. Mainly because I could clearly see that Hailee was the one for Cameron. Even if he didn’t see it himself. They had insane chemistry that couldn’t be denied for long. So hot!

The real douchebag of the whole book is no doubt Jason. I look forward to seeing him redeem himself in his book. Because the boy is one hundred percent on my shit list. You’ll see once you read the book for yourself!

This is the type of book that I’m going to be reading again and again—and it won’t ever get old. Now comes the hard part waiting for the next book! I know it’s going to be SUPER juicy and I can’t wait.

READ MY REVIEW ON THE BLOG

My high school time is long in the past yet I still enjoy books with characters that young. Maybe it's because I wish I could go back in time and relive some of those years.

They were pretty awesome in hindsight. Anyhoo...

Bully books are all the rage at the moment and I have ambivalent feelings about those because, honestly, bullying shouldn't be romanticized. But nosy person that I am I just wanted to know why people are so taken with them. I can see it. I totally can. The key is how and if the author makes the hero redeemable. LA Cotton did a decent job with Cameron and the dual point of view definitely helped. He did some horrible things. Things, I would never forgive under normal circumstances. For too long he was Jason's lapdog and didn't stand up to him. But in the end he was so darned endearing when he started fighting for Hailee's affection.

Hailee was the light of this story. She was smart mouthed, snarky and strong and didn't take the crap those jerks dished out without retaliating. She had her own way of getting back at them and I really loved her for not falling over herself when Cameron started to come around and kept him at arm's length. Not for long though because the guy had charms.

Now Jason, Hailee's stepbrother, was a douchebag extraordinaire. Focused on football, arrogant as they come, full of himself and so incredibly rude, offensive and hurtful - It'll be interesting to see if and how this author will redeem him.

Wen Ross is always a joy to listen to. I've never listened to Sarah Puckett before - her narration style is one of those I don't enjoy very much. She has that strange way of dragging out the last syllable of the last word in a sentence, however, that aside her performance was quite good.

This is my first LA Cotton book and this one was really engaging - I just couldn't stop listening. I'm still not sure if I'm happy about the whole bullying fad. However, with this being quite steamy it isn't intended for a young audience. So now I'm looking forward to THE GAME YOU PLAY!

“You don’t hate me. you hate yourself. I’m everything you loathe, but you want me anyway.”

I loved this book.

I always enjoy this kind of books of hate/love , most of all if it’s about sisters/brothers best friends.

I like to see how the situation evolves form hate to love and all the steps in between . And I think this author did an excellent job in telling us this story.

Cameron Chase is something else . His growth in this book is outstanding . His passion and kindness for all the things he believe in and for his family and friends his mind-blowing .

And Hailee , a strong , independent and passionate young woman , ready to fight with her nails for what she believes in , no matter what.

“Does hating me feel as good for you as it does for me?”

Cameron and Hailee were end game since they first looked at each other , it was only a matter of time. You can’t fight fate , they just made sense together. The chemistry and the passion were undeniable , it was like fireworks on 4th of July : just magic!

I didn’t enjoy a good romance since a long time , I’m so happy this series brought me out of my block.

I gave it 4.5 stars .

I hope you’ll enjoy it like I did!

Audiobook review. I am an absolute sucker for bully romance. I don’t know if it’s the angst or what, but like a moth to a flame it pulls me right in.

It was entertaining to see where boundary lines were drawn and crossed. Hailee found it fun to ‘poke the bear’ in essence and her stepbrother had a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas. The situation made it difficult for Hailee to connect with anyone outside of her bestie, much less her stepbrother’s best friend Cameron.

I liked how the relationship was developed. It went deeper than surface level. The conflict was well established and it lent itself to opening up plot lines for secondary characters. I’m definitely intrigued by what’s going to happen with the next couples in the series.

There was one point that was an issue for me. I won’t spoil but I’ll say that it was left largely unaddressed and it involved several acts that are very much illegal, not to mention moral implications. If it weren’t for that, it would’ve been a 5 ⭐️ from me.

The narrators, Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross, did a fantastic job. Their pace, tone, and pitch were complimentary to the story. They were emotive and a great match to the characters.

All in all an enjoyable read. Will continue the series for sure.

Initially I was feeling a solid 4.5⭐, but now after having some time to think about it, I'm leaning more towards this being a 4⭐ read for me. It was a decent read, but there were some things that just irked me.
This was a enemies to lovers book, heavy on the angst. Man, was this heavy on the angst. I have a love/hate relationship with angst lol. So much push and pull.

Cameron was a jock on the football team. Hailee was Jason's step sister. Cameron and Jase (and Asher the other guy in their group) tried to make her life miserable at every turn. Jase didn't like her for reasons unknowing to the reader until later in the book. Hailee was one tough cookie though when it came to dealing with her step brother.

Cameron thought by siding with Jason he was protecting Hailee. That plan backfired on him in the worst way. It took me most of the book to warm up to him. Even though she was his endgame he still got it on with other girls. I am not a fan of that.

With that said, I will be reading book 2 because I am invested in the characters. I really enjoyed Felicity and how she was always there for her best friend Hailee.
Then, I'm sure I'll be reading the third for Asher's story. I think he might just be my favorite boy in the series.

‘It wasn’t that I wanted her. I didn’t. I just didn’t like the idea of anyone else having her either.’

The Trouble with You by L.A Cotton is the first book we’ve read by this Author and we’re now hooked and can’t wait for the next book in this series. Each book in the Rixon Raiders series can be read as a standalone as it features different couples, however, we meet them all in this book so a connection has been made, be it positive or negative…HA!

‘Being a Rixon Rider came with a certain set of privileges. We were treated like gods in the halls at school; and outside the school gates, around town, wasn’t much different. It was easy to get swept up in it all. The girls. The attention. The respect.’

We love high angst and The Trouble with You is chock a block with it, in this enemies to lovers YA/NA romance. There’s nothing like starting off seriously disliking a character and then the Author cleverly making you turn a one-eighty and actually care by the end! The different POV’s certainly helped too.

‘He was cold. Focused. Determined to succeed no matter what.’

The setting in The Trouble with You is a senior year of high school with its trademark hate/love relationships, school rivalry and bullying culture. Its focus is centred around the school football team which brings with it, the stereotypical associated culture. You’ve got your typical stars of the football team who reign over the high school and town alike, the main heroes being Jason, Cameron and Asher, and they really can do no wrong. Hailee would disagree with that though. Whilst they’re completely worshipped by most, they’re the bane of her life.

‘There was just something about getting a reaction out of her that got my blood pumping.’

Hailee is Jason’s stepbrother and since their parents got together, Jason has harboured incredible hatred for Hailee and roped in his teammates, Cameron and Asher to help him harass Hailee with nasty and cruel pranks. Whilst she gives as good as she gets, she encountered mortifying situations. Hailee has an intense dislike for ‘the cool kids’ but she can’t help but have growing feelings for Cameron, Jason’s best mate, who once was a friend but is now one of her tormentors.

‘He was theirs to have, theirs to worship, theirs to love. But there were moments with him, when it was just the two of us, when it felt like he was mine.’

Hailee was one tough and sassy girl. What she has to endure is quite something and we had mad respect for her. At times she came across quite hard, however, she’d have to be in order to put up with Jason’s behaviour. Her friendship with Flick was lovely albeit a tad selfish on Hailee’s side at times but we have to say the growth and maturity in this slow burn romance was lovely to read. Some of the incidents depicted in this story were quite disturbing yet sadly quite realistic in nature. Saying that, despite the emotional moments and the angst, there were some lovely moments too between Hailee and Cameron which broke up the more emotional ones as well as a passionate connection and heartfelt romance.

‘I wanted to take away his pain and make it my own.’

The Trouble with You highlighted the strength of friendships, the dramas of family life and of course first love. Now the next book is Jason’s and wow he has some explaining to do! What a great start to a series! Fans of Rachel Van Dyken and Erin Watts should definitely check this series out.

‘This was high school. Kids were mean and got off on bringing each other down. But the real world, where things were hard and painful and uncertain was waiting for them. High school didn’t define me. I knew my worth, and this moment, right here, defined me.’

Its official - my heart is now property of the Rixon Raiders and the girls they love to hate.
An enemies to lovers, angsty, emotional read that has you cheering “5 star read” from the football stands.

This story takes place in a town where the high school football players are treated like Royalty.
Hailee and her best friend Flick want nothing to do with her step brother Jason and his best friends Cameron and Ash.
Hailee is artsy, tough, free spirited and hates football. Cameron is a football star and popular.
And for the past six years they have been waging a war against each other by bullying and pranks.

"He loved nothing more than to piss me the hell off and I loved nothing more than spending my days plotting my sweet revenge."

Cameron continues to push away Hailee and his feelings for her while Hailee has become hardened because of the bullying. They should hate each other.

"He was my step-brothers best friend. A Raider. Not to mention, he was one of my tormentors. Cameron Chase was everything I hated."

I loved this love- hate, angst filled relationship between the Main characters.
I also loved the sub characters and the football scenes that have you in the game!
Hailee's loyalty and love for her best girlfriend is so real.
Camerons bond with Jason and Ash is like a brotherhood.
Family secrets and issues are revealed and will have your heart breaking for them.

"I never wanted to break you," I confessed."I only wanted you to see me"

Many plot twists and layers unfold and every character is written perfectly.
You cant put it down!

Looking forward to the next in the series!
"You're a Raider now"

I am "proudly waving my homemade signs" for Cameron #14, Asher #42, Jason #1,
Hailee (Sunshine), Felicity and of course author LA Cotton!!!!

⭐️ 4.5 "I See You" Stars ⭐️
The Trouble with You was my introduction to L.A. Cotton books and it made an incredible impression on me. I loved everything about this high school romance with a strong football spirit! The Rixon Raiders are the stars of their town and it’s so apparent throughout this story. Hailee and Cameron's tumultuous relationship is incredible, but also the secondary characters are a huge part of why I enjoyed this book so much!

"You don't hate me. you hate yourself. I'm everything you loathe, but you want me anyway."

Cameron is best friend with Hailee’s step brother and takes part in the unending pranks toward her. But there’s also a sense of protectiveness coming from him. Every single time Cameron and Hailee are together there’s tension from the rivalry, but something more too. An attraction that is so palpable!

I enjoyed how Cam is flirty and sweet with Hailee. The chapters in his point of view are a very good opportunity to discover a different facet of him though; the real Cameron. There’s so much he doesn’t tell his friends about his hard choices concerning his future and his family’s struggles, but with Hailee he soon finds someone he can open up to. Their relationship evolves so beautifully!

Hailee is truly an interesting heroine too. While her step-brother makes her life difficult with all the hate and multiple jokes, she doesn’t back down and goes head to head with him. She’s not afraid to speak her mind. She’s conflicted by her attraction to Cameron, but there’s just something irresistible she can’t fight for long. She sees the real guy behind the bully.

"Each stroke of her tongue a patch on the hole in my heart; each touch of her lips a band aid for my grief."

The Trouble with You is the perfect new adult romance filled with great characters, intense chemistry and humour. I’m so excited for the upcoming novels in the Rixon Raiders Series, because I was so invested in the supporting characters’ storylines. It promises exciting moments I’m sure.

"Does hating me feel as good for you as it does for me?"

Gaaaah! I live for angsty YA romance novels and The Trouble With You is brilliant! L.A. Cotton got me completely hooked with this story and it’s the perfect start to the new series. It includes everything I crave in this kind of book: wonderfully created characters, interesting storyline, angst, steam, but also swoon-worthy moments. I couldn’t put this book down, it got me so engrossed! And I know that I just finished with the first story in the series, but I can’t wait for the next one! I’m so impatient that I wonder how can I bribe the author to get at least a sneek peak. Home-made cookies? My first-born? I need to know!

Hailee’s life is pretty complicated, because day after day she’s bullied by her jock step-brother and his teammates. Only one year left to graduation, she just needs to survive it and she’ll be free. Unfortunately it’s not easy, when said step-brother and his friends are like the legends in the town that breathes and lives football. And the one thing Hailee hates the most is exactly this sport. But the need to get away from her reality and reckless decisions turn the course of events to worse and Hailee finds herself in the crossfire. And she couldn’t guess that her brother’s best friend Cameron will turn out to be her protector. Even when at the same time he was her tormentor for years.

Hailee is a perfect young heroine. She’s though, fierce and brave. She doesn’t let anyone push her around and she gives as much as she gets. Although she appears hardened, we can see that she has a soft and vulnerable side too. And despite all the wrongs that happened to her, she has so much love to give. I really adore her.

Cameron is like a chameleon. For his teammates and football fans he’s a typical jock- arogant, cocky and smug. But behind the closed door he’s caring, loving brother and son, who would sacrifice everything for his loved ones. Maybe his methods to protect Hailee were not well thought out and harsh, but after knowing what could happen if he wouldn’t take these steps, we can in some way understand his choices. His vulnerable side was breaking my heart and I wanted to crawl into this book and hug him tight. When he finally found the guts to stand up to his friend I fell for him hard. Because he has become a perfect boyfriend and I couldn’t get enough of him and Hails together.

The Trouble With You is a phenomenal enemies-to-lovers story filled to the brim with tension, mixed feelings and drama. It's also a great sports romance, where football is not just a background- it's an integral part of this book. If you’re looking for a bully romance- don’t hesitate! This book is the very essence of angsty YA. It will give you all the feels- chapter after chapter it warms the heart more and more. L.A. Cotton created my newest addiction, because I’m gonna reach for every single one book in this series.

GO RAIDERS!

I liked this story but it felt like something was missing. There was a lot of focus on Jason and his bullying of Hailee and in the end I felt like that took over any of the actual romance with Cameron. I just didn't see a connection between him and Hailee as much as I wanted but I did like them together near the end.
