Can these two unlikely bedfellows find common ground and see what everyone else around them has seen all along, that together, they can work miracles, even if it's just with each other. *** USA Today Bestselling Author BJ Harvey brings you Miracle Worker - Book 3 in a new spin-off to the Cook Brothers steamy rom-com series featuring first responders in Chicago who are fighting the good fight and also finding love at the same time. This series can be read as a standalone and is set in the same world as the Bliss, Game, and Cook Brothers series before it.
BJ Harvey is the USA Today Bestselling Author of the Bliss Series. She also regards herself as a smut peddler, suspense conjurer and a funny romance thinker upper.
An avid music fan, you will always find her singing some hit song badly but loving every minute of it. She’s a wife, a mom to two beautiful girls, and hails from what she considers as the best country in the world—New Zealand. Currently living in Perth, Australia.
I adored absolutely everything about Miracle Worker. I loved the roomies-to-more. I loved the banter between Alex and Gio. I love the whole Rossi family.
I particularly liked the way Ms Harvey dealt with the way emergency workers/first responders deal with the trauma they see in their lives. It was great that she did not gloss over the mental toll that firefighers/police/ambulance workers deal with every day.
But mostly I loved Gio and Alex. Gah, I loved the way they were so different, but those differences were the thing that brought the best out of each other. I liked that there was no OTT drama, just real life issues.
I love, love, love Mama Rossi, and I want her to adopt me and feed me.
BJ Harvey delivers another romantic comedy with her latest release, Miracle Worker.
Gio and Alex are complete opposites to one another but yet make the best couple. They balance each other out.
Gio Rossi is a police officer with the local precinct in Chicago. He comes from a large Italian family who are nearly all first responders and are all very close to each other. He's a neat freak and very tight laced.
Alexandra Hall has just transferred from Iowa to the Chicago Fire Department House 101. She comes from a family of fire fighters and is out to prove not only to herself but to her father and twin brother that she can make it in the big city. When she hears from the guys at her station that their brother has a spare room to rent, she jumps at the opportunity.
Alex is definitely one of my favourite heroines that I've read. She's a free spirit and is not afraid to conquer the hardest of tasks. I loved her interactions with her fellow firefighters and the Rossi family.
This book had me laughing out loud on more than occasion and the ending was just perfect. An incredibly well written book from start to finish and one that I highly recommend!
Miracle Worker is the third book in the Chicago First Responders series. This series is interconnected with the characters and a bit of the story-line but this book can also be read as a standalone if you have not read the previous books. This is a roommates to lovers and more story between Alex Maxwell and Gio Rossi. Alex has moved to Chicago to take a job as a firefighter in Firehouse 101. She has not found a place to live yet so she is staying in a hotel, which is really not what she wants. So when Marco, a fellow firefighter, tells her that his brother is looking for a roommate she jumps at the chance. Marco is a police officer who is regimented in his life and his house, which includes being a bit OCD about everything being clean. Alex is more free flowing and fun loving. Let's just say that Marco is not quite sure out Alex after she moves in but there is a strong attraction between them that will spark into a great romance.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I really enjoyed this book. It felt like just the book I needed as I was reading it. It was fun and easy to read, with characters that I really liked. Gio and Alex were great together, bringing out the other sides to one another. They worked so well, and I loved how they supported one another and understood the difficulties and serious situations of each others jobs.
I loved all the secondary characters, and I want to be part of the Rossi family too. Enjoyed this one and definitely recommend.
This was a cute story with fun likeable characters. I liked the premise of the storyline where the roommates become lovers. Alex and Gio are two very different people but I liked that as they grew closer we get to see their similarities. Alex is no wallflower which I liked seeing her determined personality. Gio is more cautious in nature who needed someone to push him out his comfort zone. I enjoyed the introduction of the families on both sides, they brought some fun times to the story. Although this can be read as a standalone to get the full experience of the other characters it would be best to read the previous books in the series.
This book was so much fun to read! I loved the chemistry between Alex and Gio. I also loved all of the Rossi family antics! As always, I enjoyed Harvey’s writing style and the dual POVs. I cannot wait for Luca’s story!
I absolutely loved this book! I need to go read the rest of this series. The characters were relatable, realistic and complex. The story was funny, steamy and had all the feels. Highly recommend!

BJ Harvey never fails to miss the mark. MIRACLE WORKER was such an enjoyable, light-hearted, and romantic read. And, because it involves the Rossi family, there's plenty of hilarious ribbing between the brothers and one-liners that were simply jaw dropping.
"Life is going to be interesting with Alex Maxwell around. But maybe that's exactly what I need."
Gio Rossi is a workaholic police officer with a penchant for neatness and cleanliness. He's looking for a roommate to help pay his mortgage, and when his brothers suggest the new firefighter at their station, he's more than happy to help. But, when they turn up at his house the last person he's expecting is motorcycle riding, leather clad Alex Maxwell ... a gorgeous woman!! Alex, a legacy firefighter, has made the move from small town Iowa to big city Chicago to find herself, to succeed in her career away from her dad and her brother. Gio and Alex couldn't have been any more opposite. He was neat, she was messy, he was quiet, she was outgoing, yet the chemistry, attraction, and connection between them was instant and oh so very hot ... they perfectly balanced each other.
" ... the more I get to know Gio Rossi, the more I want to know. And ain't that a damn complication I never saw coming."
I absolutely adored Gio and Alex. The lightheartedness they shared, the banter, the sly glances, the undeniable heat that sizzled between them, the way they had each other's backs when needed, all making them a couple I cheered on whole heartedly. It was hilarious how they took on the joint responsibility of being 'plant parents' to Fred, this is a credit to Ms. Harvey's comedic writing talent. When things began to become heavy and emotional between Gio and Alex, all the feels came out and my heart went out to Alex. What I loved the most was the way found themselves falling for each other, it wasn't rushed, there was no unnecessary drama, it was just a natural flow on effect from the friendship they developed.
"Baby ... We don't have time to deal with that look you're giving me." "Oh, we don't, but I do."
As I said previously, this was such an enjoyable read. Ms. Harvey knows how to combine comedy, drama, and romance to provide a thoroughly captivating, amusing and emotional story. Then, add in the entire Rossi family and Alex's dad and twin brother, and the entertainment is non-stop.
Next up is RULE BENDER coming in August 2022, which is Lucas' story, now that is one story I cannot wait to read.
This is book three in The Chicago First Responders Series and it is Alex and Gio's story. Alex and Gio are the total opposite of each other just like oil and water and get they are so perfect together. Alex is a female firefighter and feels like she has always lived in the shadows of her family so when she gets the chance to move to Chicago she decides to go hoping that she will be who she has always supposed to be a great firefighter doing the job that she loves on her own merits. Gio is a cop in Chicago and loves a quiet life, his job and his family's who he would do anything for. When Gio's brother offers Alex the spare room Gio is so shocked when she arrived as she is nothing like what he was expecting. The attraction and chemistry between Alex and Gio was instant and intense but being roommates could make things very difficult if they give in to his they feel but will they ever take a chance on each other or miss out on something special between them. This is such a beautiful read and I couldn't put it down as I loved the characters and storyline so much and it kept your attention right throughout the whole book and it was so well written and totally worth reading.
I am in LOVE with Gio and Alex! BJ Harvey slays with “Miracle Worker,” the author’s latest contemporary romance. Gorgeous, adventure-loving firefighter Alexandra comes to the big city to make it on her own after years of living and working with her father and brother at a small-town Iowa firehouse. With unsolicited help from her new big city fire department family, she rents a room from a sexy-as-sin cop named Gio, and OMG do the sparks ever fly! Loved every minute of their sweet yet extra steamy road to their HEA. Harvey treats us to a wonderful story that readers can’t help but become invested in, and every single character in the cast is so genuine and relatable that I am totally into finding out about their stories too. I hadn’t realized until I read it that this is actually Book 3 in the Chicago First Responders series (kudos to the author for making this one read like a standalone because I didn’t feel like I was missing any of the back story to be able to enjoy it), so I’m now on a mission to read the earlier stories ASAP! So looking forward to the next one. Absolutely as many stars as I can give for “Miracle Worker”!
Firefighter Alexandra Maxwell moved to Chicago, hired on as a firefighter in Firehouse 101. Hotel life isn’t working for her, so she is relieved when one of her co-workers says his brother is looking for a roommate. Chicago cop Gio Rossi is a completely opposite personality compared to Alex. Gio is a sort of “neat-freak” regimented personality, definitely not prepared for the free-spirited, leather-clad, motorcycle-riding, adrenaline junkie woman who moves in.
Their differences don’t seem to be a hindrance because both start feel the attraction to each other. In the end, they have what each other needs to complete their happiness. When an incident makes Alex doubt herself, Gio is there for her and offering needed encouragement. And she turns his world upside down and opens him up to the joy of spontaneity. They may be the last to realize it, but will they finally acknowledge that they need each other?
This story line has the perfect balance to keep the reader laughing as the characters interact and get to discover what each was missing and has found in the other. Grab your copy and enjoy their story.
My gosh, BJ Harvey can write the hell out of a story, and while I've read plenty of them, Miracle Worker is my new favorite to date. First of all, she seriously gave us insight into the first responders psyche, as these folks are the first on the scene, and it's not always a happy ending so there's no doubt that they suffer with their job & Ms. Harvey did a bang up job at showing us firsthand. Alexandra (aka Alex) is a legacy firefighter to the point that she moved to the city to be out from under her father & brother's shadow which is where she meets Chicago cop Gio. They end up roommates quickly, and let me tell you, they're complete opposites with his black & white attitude trying to exist next to her colorful world, and it was very entertaining. They fight their attraction for a cool minute but things come to a head when something happens that has her doubting herself (a dangerous aspect for a firefighter), and Gio steps up to the plate to help her which is when they finally give in to what is brewing. I LOVED this story so much, and certainly CANNOT WAIT for more in this series so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Alex Maxwell may be a newcomer to Chicago and Firehouse 101 but she’s a legacy firefighter and she’s ready to get to work. She may be ready to spread her wings and find herself but she’s not loving her current living arrangement, hotel life is not cutting it so when her new coworkers tell her their brother is looking for a roommate, she jumps at the opportunity. Gio Rossi: police officer, neat freak, set in his ways, and definitely not prepared for what Alex is about to bring to his life. These two are the perfect example of “opposites attract” and I couldn’t get enough of them. I absolutely loved the slow burn Harvey created. We get to see Gio and Alex progress from strangers, to roommates, to friends, to more. I loved watching Gio come out of his shell, Alex show some vulnerability, and getting to catch up with some of my favorite characters. Harvey gives us a lot of laughs, plenty of sweet moments, and the perfect amount of heat! Another fabulous story, I can’t wait for what comes next!
Gotta love these stories and especially this group of people.
Love, love, love this Author and her writing and what she creates. Each book I have read of BJ Harvey is simply some of the most loveliest romance stories.
The characters that are created and story lines that just make you fall into the story whole heatedly and heart warming that you can't put them down.
On the most part they are pretty predictable but then that is ok by me. If a story is written well and it has me engaging and thoroughly enjoying the story, then that is a win for me.
Both Gio and Alex were lovely characters in their own right and as well when they got together. Their love is what we all want and endeavor to have. Their chemistry was off the charts hot.
BJ Harvey has created another lovely story that I have enjoyed reading. A great addition to this series. Can't get enough of the Rossi family and the wider group. Well done and keep doing what you are doing as it works well.

Police officer Gio is from a big family in Chicago that also sports first responders and firefighters. Alex is from a small Iowa town and a family of firefighters. Transferred to Chicago to the same station as his brothers, they tell her that Gio has a room to rent and she jumps at the chance to get out of the hotel. Gio is shocked that his new border is female, rides a motorcycle and has a very strong personality. Goodbye to his totally neat and tidy life and welcome to the uncontrolled, spontaneous, passionate life of Alexandra. Loved the characters and how they grow together as they learn about each other and the banter is unforgettable. The storyline has drama, danger, intense feelings, big decisions, finding your limits and strengths, and so much more. Loved their chemistry and the huge family that will not leave them alone. The support and love turns deeper by the week and it all comes together in a terrific ending.

Cute love story: I really enjoyed this sweet and sexy roommates to lovers story. Alex and Geo were like oil and water initially and it was fun seeing them learn to live in harmony with one another. I enjoyed the banter and seeing these two keep each other on their toes. They made a cute couple and I liked that there wasn't any unnecessary drama in their relationship but rather just real life obstacles for them to overcome. It was a little ridiculous at times but still great fun. I think readers would benefit from having read the previous books in the series as the other couples and family members feature quite extensively (which is something I loved). Now I can't wait for the final book in the series! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I throughly enjoyed this book and it made me realise just how much I've missed the fun and games of the Rossi family and the extended world they appear in. BJ Harvey really knows how to create a world and characters that are realistic, warm and a whole heap of fun.
I've been looking forward to Gio's book and wondered what type of woman would capture his attention and heart. When Alex arrives clad in leather, she knocks him off his feet, slowly and surely with her quirky, funny and no nonsense ways. She becomes the woman that he knows he wants and needs. The attraction is a two way street and he steals her heart too. With his caring and protective ways.
I totally recommend this book. This story pulled so many emotions out of me. I Iaughed out loud, loads and cried many tears. I loved every word As I have done with all books in this series and the connected series as well.
I swear these Italian men get hotter and hotter from one book to another. Every time I think I found my favourite Rossi another one comes up and steals the show. Gio Rossi, the 4th from the 5 siblings, good looks, works as a cop and is a clean freak! Sounds like pure perfection to me. And he’s not only perfect on paper, he does have the romantic strike and great humour to make it even better. Gio is looking for a roommate to help with his social life and mortgage when his brothers recommend him their new transfer from work Alex, who is new in town and in need for some accommodation. Small but needed mistake about Alex’ gender makes their first encounter memorable! I like their spark, wit, sass, humour and how open they communicate with each other. No extra drama where is not needed. Fun, steamy and easy to read!
4.5 Stars This is the third book in the series and they just keep getting better. I couldn't put this one down. I loved Alex and Gio. Their first meeting is quite memorable. They have such great chemistry. Their banter was one of my favorite parts of the book. I so love the Rossi family as much as the Cooks. This book had me laughing from start to finish. Fred was a major part of that and the bonding it created for Gio and Alex. Alex and Gio may be opposites, but they bring something the other needs in life. They create such a nice balance. Yin to each other's yang. I would highly recommend this one because you will have a hard time putting it down. The main characters along with the secondary characters will suck you right in. For me I know it's a winner when the secondary characters have me just as invested as the main ones.
This is the third book in this impressive series and is Gio and Alexandra’s story. Alex is a firefighter who has lived in the shadow of her family who are all firefighters, and when she is offered the opportunity to move to Chicago, she jumps at the chance to spread her wings. Gio is a police officer who likes the quiet life and his family, and when his brothers offer his spare room to Alex, the last thing he expected was to have a feisty woman as his roommate. These two may be opposites by they complement each other perfectly. This is a beautifully written story which is entertaining, and filled with humor, witty banter, emotions, family, and love, which leads to a steamy and riveting page tuner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all.
I absolutely love this series and I was looking forward to reading Gio Rossi’s story. When Alex arrives at fire station 101 of the CFD, everyone is expecting a man. Imagine their surprise, when they get a sassy, motorcycle riding woman. When Marco and Luca hear that Alex needs a place, they immediately think of Gio. Imagine his surprise when he opens the door to a woman, not a man. Let the sassy banter and good times begin. I loved these characters so much I didn’t want this book to end. I won’t leave any spoilers, but if you love reading about two characters meant for each other, some sexy times, and sassy banter, you won’t be disappointed with Miracle Worker. I can’t wait to read Luca’s story next.

This was a sweet read! I don't usually enjoy a very strong heroine but this one was equal enough where you can't help but love her, her love of life and just a sweet funny girl. The hero, well he learned a lesson on how to relax and let go a little. Curtesy of his new roomie, the heroine! There is no OM or OW involved so I was super happy about that. Their chemistry is off the charts, the hero is SWOONY and there is even some action in this one! Looking forward to more!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)...
This is Gio (Marco’s brother) and Alex’s story.
This was a really sweet and fat moving story about the neat freak cop and the fun loving new in town firefighter. I absolutely loved everything about Alex and her crazy antics, especially when it came to Gio. They did get off on a bit of odd start, but that quickly changed.
This relationship between these two moved quite quickly which was sweet and majorly spicy. Alex does go through a major issue and Gio was just swoon worthy in being everything she needed. Also, we can’t forget about Fred their plant baby ;)
I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for Luca and London, especially since she is his Captain’s daughter ;)
Gio is a man who need order and routine both when it comes to his career as a police officer and his personal life. When he needs a roommate, his brother suggests that Alex, a recent addition to the firehouse, needs a place to stay it seems like the solution to both their problems however he wasn’t prepared for the fiery whirlwind who came crashing into his life.
Firefighting is in Alex’s blood, but she is determined to forge her own path. As she and Gio spend time together there was no denying the physical connection between them, but it was the emotional connection they developed that made their relationship so special.
Gio and Alex couldn’t be more different when it comes to their personalities or lifestyles, but they find the perfect balance in each other.
In order to step out from her family's shadow in their firefighting legacy Alexandra Maxwell moves from her small Iowa hometown to Chicago where her firefighter colleagues offer up their brother's spare room. They tell her that she'll be safe since Gio Rossi is a cop who lives for his job,his family and he likes to live a quiet life so when he sees Alex on her motorcycle wearing leather he knows that he's in trouble. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this wonderful opposites attract romance. I would definitely recommend reading this wonderful book.

Alexandra moved to Chicago, joining the Chicago Fire Dept, wanting to make her own way away from the watchful eyes of her dad and brother. Gio was looking for a room mate and when his brothers suggested their new squad member, Alex, he jumped at the chance. Not expecting the person to be a girl, never mind a girl who took his breath away the moment he saw her. This is a story of taking chances on new opportunities, of being open to let someone else in and be part of your life, even though it was not necessarily planned. I loved them, the chemistry between them and then, to meet up with old friends from the previous books.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Alex and Gio were not expecting each other when Gio agreed to meet Alex as a potential roomie but boy are they the perfect match for each other with his OCD for cleanliness and solid ground and her liking to jump out of planes and well not so much tidiness lol Neither are looking for a relationship so it was fund seeing them slowly realise that they are attracted to each other while everyone sees it straight away. You get some great laughs not only from Alex and Gio but also from Gio's amazing family and their friends, but there is also danger, some struggles and learning that being venerable is ok and support comes in many forms.

Miracle Worker is a fun and entertaining love story. Alex and Gio are roommates that become lovers and compliment each other with their differences. The story draws you in and the characters steal your heart. Alex is no pushover and has a strength in her personality that you can’t help but admire. Gio is caring and protective and Alex can’t help but have her heart stolen by this man. The chemistry between them is electric and the connection is amazing. A story that is overflowing with emotions and will have you laughing one minute and shedding a tear the next. The storyline and the characters all hold your attention right to the very end.
