Publishers Amnesia is a Romantic Suspense novel and is the sixth in the Athena Series. There is some violence and swearing in this novel. No Cliff-hanger. It is recommended to read this series in order.
This is book six of The Athena series and the main characters are Naomi Smith and Marco Beckham. Naomi finally got persuaded to go out for a drink by her friends, but ended up in a strange bed the next morning, after only having one beer! The man who walks into the room is called Marco and he apparently stopped her from being dragged into a van, but couldn’t find any signs of her friends, nor any identification on her, plus she was acting really out of it. When she confirms none of her supposed friends have tried to contact her to see where she was and that she had only one drink, he suspects she was drugged and when she collapses again, he takes her to the hospital, who confirm drugs in her system. The type of drugs found in her system have raised flags, as other women have been found with this mixture, but they were all murdered and violated. It seems she has been caught up in a ruthless human trafficking ring and is lucky Marco pulled her out of danger! He calls his friend Jack to the hospital, who is the sheriff of the next town over and luckily has jurisdiction over where her abduction was attempted.
The local cops try to accuse Marco of being involved and one is rather rude and seems fairly incompetent with his questions. Thankfully Jack gets them to leave after agreeing she needs witness protection, but definitely not in this town where a leak within the department already led to two women being killed. Marco is ex-special forces and was moving into a new apartment block in his home town after leaving the forces, with another available apartment beside him, so he can easily look out for her. But her troubles don’t end there, as the people behind her abduction track her down after she applies for a new job in town. They clearly want to get rid of her and any chance she can testify against any of their organisation, if caught. Only problem is, that Marco is a local boy and has loyal friends in the law enforcement and special forces background, who will do anything to help him get Naomi back safely. This book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but the next book gives a much deeper insight into the women being held by this human trafficking ring and some of the issues they face. One man saves a stranger from danger and falls for her in the aftermath, as his protective side comes to the fore. An interesting read, which is very realistic in the issues raised by the storyline, showing how easily this sort of crime can occur. This is book six in The Athena Series and it is Marco and Naomi's story. Naomi is not one for going out but her friends manage to convince her to go to a club but Naomi only had one drink but the next morning she woke up nearly naked in a room that she doesn't recognise and when Marco comes into the room to see how she is feeling when she tries to move everything goes black as she passes out. Marco was out and when he saw a woman being dragged into a van and it seemed like she didn't want to be there he jumped in to rescue her and as she had no identification he took her to her place. The next day in the hospital the doctor revealed that Naomi had not been drunk she had been drugged and that she needed to go into witness protection as they had seen this a lot and nobody so far had survived so she was in danger. Marco was absolutely furious with what has happened to Naomi especially when they find out that it is a human trafficking ring and they will track her down so he decides that he will be the one protecting her but will be be able to keep her safe. I absolutely love this book so much and the characters and storyline pulled you in right from the first page and it is so addictive and emotional that I couldn't put this book down and I can't wait to read the next one. Kelly Desalis is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and others and you will definitely not be disappointed.

Naomi survived a failed kidnapping attempt but lost her short term memory due to the drugs the kidnappers used on her. Being the only victim to escape and survive has put a target on her back. To keep her safe she's put in to protective custody with an ex-special forces solider, Marco. She slowly starts to regain her memory and the details of her kidnapping attempt but that puts her in even more danger.
A story line that will keep you turning the pages and at times has you sitting on the edge of your seat. You're pulled in and can't stop reading until you reach the last page. The characters are well developed and intriguing and the romance that builds between Naomi and Marco is evident and enjoyable.

They are both very comfortable around each other and Naomi fits in well with his family. Everytime trouble strikes in Naomi's life Marco to the rescue. We all wish we had our very own Marco in our lives.
