The sequel to My Midnight Moonlight Valentine, book two of the Vampire’s Romance Series…
“What must come must come, What must be must be, Nothing can stop fate… Not even thee.”
The threads of fate are woven and in the heart of it all is a young vampire by the name of Druella. Who is her maker? Why is she abandoned? What is her purpose? And is this love of hers for Theseus Thorbørn, the Prince of Night, the vampire eternal, the key to her salvation or damnation?
All she wanted was to be normal among them, but magic will always have the final say. Picking up from My Midnight Moonlight Valentine’s cliffhanger ending, My Sunrise Sunset Paramour follows Druella and Theseus as they uncover the secrets that wiped away their memories a year ago.
I’m a twenty-year-old something born in Montreal, Canada but currently living in Virginia for school. I would tell you want my major is however after two years I still have no idea what I’m doing.
So I’m a writer (duh that’s how you found me), movie enthusiast, and self-proclaimed chef. I love music even though I can’t sing or dance to save my life. (That doesn’t necessarily stop me but you’ve been warned.)
I started Ruthless People the summer of 2013 in hopes of giving myself a new type of love and crime drama. I never knew so many people thought like me! I feel truly blessed to have fans like you all! Writing is my true love and having you all enjoy my words is a dream come true.
So I remember after I read the last book I was eager for this one to be released in hopes that it would help me make sense of what I had just read, but so much time has passed between books that I barely remember the last one so this one made even less sense. The plot and worldbuilding is so confusing and I don't remember any of the characters so I never caught on to wtf was happening. Also the same complaint I had for the last book was true again here: why did Druella have all her 'visions' during intimate moments? The heroine passing out in the middle of every hookup is such an odd thing to write into a romance novel I don't understand that creative choice...
And one more thing: why did the covers for this duet change?? The old ones were so pretty 👉🏽👈🏽
This book was a let down compare to how amazing the first book was. Ugh, I really wanted to love it as much as I did with the first book however this book have a severe form of second book syndrome. Story felt confusing at times, some of the characters got a bit annoying and we spend half of the book in the past exploring how our two main characters met and the events leading up to their memory losses. I didn’t mind exploring the past if we also went back to the present time and see their reactions, but we stayed in the past until the book ends, which also had a cliffhanger. Everything felt rushed, disorganized and our beloved characters acted out of character and became annoying. I’m disappointed with this read.
Overall, it was a 3 stars read for me, I will definitely be reading the third book bout to wait until 2022 ??? That would be horrible!!
I have no words! I loved this book so much. The book went live and I jumped to read it. The first book had been five stars to me last year because of the uniqueness and how incredibly thought out everything was. This book was exactly the same. I was amazed by the story and how much development we got from Dru's character as well as the relationship between Theseus and Druella which was exquisite to read. But not only them though. But we also got so much development of the secondary characters. I'm just speechless at how much I loved this story. This was just a fast-paced, unputdownable read that I highly recommend. I can't believe we have to wait until 2022 for the next book.
I really wish I had more self control and didn’t keep starting series that have a continuous storyline till the series is complete cause these cliffhangers drive me nuts.
Also, avoidance thy name is Druella is basically the theme for this whole book.
Well, we get to see the mystery play out but it felt like lots of yelling, screaming and general arguments constantly going on. Dru was only quiet and peaceful when with Theseus and that means she wasn’t in the past for most of the story and not either him- like the previous story.
Yes- spoilers- betrayal big time but I don’t think I want to continue, we will see!
Firstly, I want to start by saying J.J. McAvoy is one of my favorite authors of all time. The way this woman writes romance is equivalent to the feeling of coming home when you’ve been away for so long. I will read anything this woman writes- a book, a grocery list, a diss track- EVERYTHING. Now that we got that out of the way. Miss J.J. McAvoy imma need you to head on up to the front of the class. I need you at my desk NEOW!
Miss ma’am. Miss mamas. You already know what you did. Now why on earth would you do us like that? I thought we were better than this.
Now why when I finished the last page of this book and saw that there was another book after this one. Why when I fixed my finger to continue to the next book why ain’t nothing pop up? Hmm? It said to be continued in 2022 *looks at calendar* Yeah, it’s 2024. Where’s the book ma’am?
No but seriously, this really was a great book. Really kept me clutching my pearls throughout the entire series reading. The only thing that really was kind of meh for me was when they finally sealed the deal it seemed a little lackluster and rushed but other than I loved it. Patiently waiting for the next book ❤️
Review for first and second books WOW, just WOW. It was an amazing story, I wasn't expecting this at all, I thought it was going to be like any other paranormal book but this was awesome! The complexity of the characters and how the story unfolded, it kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time just wanting to know everything, the why the how and the when. I loved it, and I obvs loved Dru and Theseus, I mean they were just the perfect couple and he was so sweet and patient with her. And Dru, I mean who doesn't love a kick-ass heroine? I can't wait for the next one!! I read both of them in one sitting thinking there weren't going to be more but now I have to wait until next year
this world that mcavoy has built is so freaking cool
when we jumped to the past i was finally excited to see everything that happened that led to the first book but it got kinda boring in the middle until the end!!! THE ENDING!!!!! GAH DAMN that was so good i need the third book in my hands now!!!!!!!!!!
i kinda wish it was in a past and present format instead of it being given in two different sections cause i would love to see the parallels that happened or them reacting to what happened in the past? idk overall this was still so good the plot is what makes it and the tbh the romance is just a bonus at this point but i do love how protective he is of her and it was cute how they met but i didn’t get how quickly she was okay being with him????? like i understand he saved her as a kid but as someone who kills and dislikes vampires it was pretty damn quick how she turned around
Had I realized the third book wasn't out, I would have waited. If you don't like cliffhangers, wait! This is a good book. I'm not a fan of splitting time lines, but this was well done. The author could have chosen to do this in many ways, I wasn't sure it was even necessary, but as I read I was happy to have the full background instead of "flashes". A great vampire romance. Love the world that JJ McAvoy created!

A great continuation to the series. Bk two focused on the past: Exploring how the characters forbidden relationship began. Due and Theseus are great chapters they are soft and sweet but strong when needed.
Excited to see how the series end and for Dur and Theseus have their HEA.
This book was so good!!! This is the second book and part of a series. In this book we are given a look into Dru’s past. This book is told in only the h thoughts and feelings. Definitely recommend reading the first book beforehand. Can’t wait until the next book is released... Sometime in 2022!😩
This second book interview series is amazing! Truths and betrayals revealed, shows love everlasting and so much more! I always know JJ won't disappoint and once again she proves me right!
This author has the ability to write her characters as having as much passion as a dark romance but with the swoonyness of a romantic comedy. I’m so upset I have to wait until 2022 for the next book!
This one was significantly better than the first book. Well, the second part was better than the first because you see what happened and I liked a lot better past Druella. Vampire Druella was too whiny and acted like a teen instead of an adult...
For the majority of this book, I was set on a rating of 2 but the ending about 25% made up enough to bump it higher. We get the why behind Druella's decision and it's a doozy but also points to my extreme frustration with her and that's the running away. From everything.
We learn that Druella was the strongest member of the Omeron coven, her powers boundless. We also learn that her uncle Axel had been stealing the magic of her coven members but blaming it on vampires, to include stealing the magic from his twin brother before killing him after the betrayal. Druella, as told to her by her grimorie, cannot escape and her destiny must become. What exactly it means, I'm not sure but there are hints of Armageddon. Druella decries this responsibility and decides to do it her way which was to make everyone forget, including herself and killing Theseus since she knows he'll come back to life. She also stabs herself, presumably making herself a vampire to rise later which is when the first book picks up. Understandable that Druella rejects what the magical book for the Chosen, her, tells Druella about her purpose. Who wants to be told what they must do and what must be, especially when the eventual outcome is so dire? Trying to change it is Druella's desperation move.
However, the avoidance is Druella's go to so often in this book that I'm frustrated with her and her decision making to the point of displeasure. The dialogue is too proper to read as spoken language at times, the emotions inappropriate or unrealistic, and other choices throughout are puzzling if not outright unbelievable. That's most of the book. However, once we get more of Druella and the coven prior to her memory manipulation, more makes sense, dots are connected, and the fact that her uncle Axel is the bad guy in all of this makes the shock factor pull the book up a notch. I'm not sure I'll want to read to next one but if the whole series continues in such an interesting way as the end of this book, I'd be tempted.
I was so excited about reading this after finishing the first book last year. I thought about rereading it in preparation for this one; I didn’t but I’m glad. This book was such a let down.
My first problem was the typos which were getting on my nerves. It was confusing at times and taking me out of the story.
My second problem was the writing, or more so the choice of words the author used. I’ll give you an example. “If you think you know my magic, you are wrong, and I am stronger than you” This just irked me, I felt like she should have either left out “ and I am stronger than you “ or changed it to “ you have no idea what I’m capable of “ or something along those lines.
My third problem was the past. I’m a little bummed that over half of the book is in the past. I do appreciate the show and not just tell but chapter after chapter I was waiting to be brought back to the present and it never happened. Also I’m surprised that past Druella and Theseus got intimate so quickly compared to how resistance she was with her memory wiped. They had two encounters before getting intimate.. Kind of felt like two different people at times.
My fourth problem was Druella. I actually liked her in the first book but reading this book I kind of got annoyed with her. Another thing, the flying at the end felt plopped in. The way she wrote it was a bit confusing. One second she’s flying and another she’s running?
I will continue and read the sequel. I’m also sad the author changed the book covers. The original one was so beautiful!
The story continues for Druella Monroe, still a bit confused about what was happening, the storyline was interesting, the characters were different from the usual witch - vampire romance novel, there is magic and other elements. However the world-building was good, but something was missing for me to connect it all, I like the vision she had, was a mystery to add to the story, and definitely, the way they happened is intriguing. Theseus I really liked his character, that cliffhanger will have you wanting more.
Honestly when I tell you I was so happy that I didn't have to wait a whole year for this book. But then Have to wait for the next book. I honestly didn't want to finish this book, I started dreading getting closer and closer to the end. I had a feeling that they background arc of their story was going to be most of the book and at first was like ugh I want to know what is happening in the present even though I love that you are giving us the much needed past. Overall again I have become a Fan who can find no fault in your storytelling. I am captivated by it's originality, the cute moments, the funny moments, even the embarrassing moments. I loved it all! I was in a good book drought and this and your royal series definitely fixed it. You are now in my author Hall of Fame!

This explained everything!!! It left out a few things but I’m sure it will come up in book three. The last couple of characters had me in its grips! I couldn’t stop reading, barely breathing, mouth wide open, I was gone. The ending tho - wow!!!!!! Talk about sacrifice!
I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL 2022 WHEN THE THIRD BOOK COMES OUT!!!!!! Looks like I’m going to have to follow this author which I hate to do because of all of the notifications I used to get when I followed other authors a while ago. But I need to know when the next one is coming and 2022 is a ways away from June 2021!
Look I don't like writing reviews. Feel they are all subjective but will give stars. But I tell you this series had my attention. Love Vampires romances (re-read Twilight series a couple of times). This was a grown romance with sprinkles of spice. It had me kicking my feet. Loved how you got to see Thesus & Druella love grow, at least for 1 of them to recall. The tease in at the end of the book had 3rd installment release 2022 but I can't find it. Hopefully if JJ McAvoy hasn't finished or dropped the idea she will pick it up again. I need to return to this world.
Not because it wasn't good but because it's over and I have to wait til 2022 to see what happens next like really so I'm mad 🙃 because I have to wait and I want to finish this one and start on the next one right now. But I did enjoy this book 📖😊 I'm glad I got to see what happen before she lost her memory and what happen to her coven. And why she kind Thaeus. Her uncle is a monster and pretended it was the vampires 🧛♀️ but I want to see how she killed him and can't wait to see what's happening in the next book..... I hope it comes out sooner 🙏😕🙂
Well if sure was fascinating finding out why Druella and Thesus lost their memories and why Thesus said Dru killed him. Still it does not answer how she became immortal without being bitten. The coven is under Uncle Axel spell to be stronger in magic, or to steal the strongest coven member their magic.
Axle is evil and wants the Wealth book to use it for his own purposes to kill vampires and humans leaving just wiccans to all land. Fascinating story line, pity need to wait so long to read part 3.
