I TOOK ON THE NEW THRU 30 BIBLE READING PLAN FROM YOUVERSION APP ON MY PHONE AND USED THIS TRANSLATION TO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE. THE TRANSLATION IS SO EASY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND, THIS NEW TESTAMENT VERSION IS EASY TO TAKE WITH YOU AND TO MARK UP AND WRITE NOTES IN. THE NOTES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE DID NOT HELP ME THAT MUCH UNLESS THEY REFERRED TO THE O.T. REFERENCE IN THE TEXT. IT IS CERTAINLY AN EASY WAY TO UNDERSTAND AND IS RELEVANT FOR TODAY'S JOURNEY IN LIFE.

I listened to an audio multicast recording of the NLT, but couldn't find that one on Goodreads--this is close enough. I'm listening to a different recording of the New Testament each week this summer. The multicast recording was done very well (even though the New Testament clearly wasn't written for a multicast production), but the dramatic music was pretty worthless. The NLT as a translation, though, is pretty good for a more paraphrase-leaning translation.

It's been a while since I've read this translation. I was a bit surprised at how easy it was to understand compared to the NIV or the KJV. Of course, the KJV is still my go-to for richness, but this is a decent translation for anyone wanting to be able to read and understand the words on the page (understanding the meaning of the words, ah, there's the rub...)

Not my favorite translation.
Good points: easy to read and understand
Poor points:
-audio didn’t match the text more than a few times.
-the translation weakened some thoughts and in other cases altered it with word choices.
Ironically (to some) this made me want to read The Message Bible. I like it for the readability and it is clearly a paraphrase, so I go into reading it with that thought in mind. (An interpretation versus a translation.)
