What if you needed Tom Cruise to save your planet, but all you had was Sheldon?
Hey, there! Name's Jerek. I'm not very fast, not very strong, and my best friend is a dragon with a bit of a gut. We're underachievers, but somehow we've become some of the best relic hunters in the galaxy. At least I have a bit of fire magic, so I'm not totally useless.
From failing to save my world from imploding (oops), to waking up super powerful ancient starships, if you need someone to make a bad situation worse, then I'm your man.

By day I am an iPhone developer architecting the app used to scope Stephen Colbert’s ear. By night I am Batman. Ok maybe not. One can dream though, right?
I’ve been writing since I was six years old and started inflicting my work on others at age 18. By age 24 people stopped running away when I approached them with a new story and shortly thereafter I published my first one in the Rifter.
Wait you’re still reading?
Ok, the facts I’m supposed to list in a bio. As of this writing I’m 38 years old and live just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the beautiful town of Mill Valley. If you’re unsure how to find it just follow the smell of self-entitlement. Once you see the teens driving Teslas you’ll know you’re in the right place.
I live in a tiny studio that I can cross in (literally) five steps and don’t own an oven. But you know what? It’s worth it. I love developing iPhone apps and if you want to work in San Francisco you accept that rent for a tiny place costs more than most people’s mortgage.
If you and about 2 million other people start buying my books I promise to move out of Marin to a house in the redwoods up in Guerneville. No pressure. Wait that’s a lie. Pressure.
The remnants of humanity reside on the planet Kemet.
The Kemet system's nearest neighbors were the giant relics of the Vagrant Fleet. Ancient vessels a hundred millennia old, some still containing ancient magitech - weapons and devices powered by one or more of the eight forms of magic. Jerek, an archaeology student with a passion for magic theory at the Kemet Academy, is on the derelict ship Word of Xal looking for old magitech, anything worth salvaging. Jerek finds an armory and when he manages to open the spell-locked door, finds several suits of armor and weaponry. Salvage laws allow the looter to keep any tech he can carry and use. Jerek done the armor and pockets a spells gun before he informs the crew that he has opened the armory. Meantime, their ship, the Remote, and the rest of the crew are attacked by Lurkers, homicidal pirates who will kill anyone they find and steal their finds. Jerek discovers some of his new armor's abilities, using them to get himself off the Word of Xal relatively unhurt.
As Jerek discovers more of his magitech armor's abilities, the suit informs him that a comet has destabilized the planet's orbit and will drive it into the sun, tearing it apart. When he attempts to inform the Minister of what he's learned, she (who happens to be Jerek's mother's girlfriend) is already aware of the fact, but is helpless to do anything about it. She leaves it on Jerek's shoulders.
Magic and science mix in this sci-fi space opera as the protagonists battle against Gods and Goddesses and their minions. Hundreds of thousands of years old, the weaponry and technology use magic and some are sentient. The storyline is amazing and filled with unexpected twists you can't see coming. The characters grow before your eyes and become a fit fighting force against the Inuran Consortium antagonists intent on seizing the Vagrant Fleet for their own purposes.
The second and third book in this series continue the adventures of Jerek and his friends, allies and antagonists. Love there is, and hate also. Great heroes are met and new heroes are found. New Gods are met and Old Gods are vanquished. This is an amazing storyline and I'm looking forward to the continuation of this storyline. This is a great read!
You have a massive room for improvement. Like having a real plot, you have none. Nothing really moved forward. Lots of side characters that have no depth or I care little for. All of them can be fired out a airlock and you wouldn't miss any of them. Outside being TOLD you need to turn over a ship or told you need to turn over the armor by people the MC doesn't work for or take orders from. All three books the MC is being lead around by others; I still don't get why he is even listening to a minster who has lost all power and a planet.
I haven't been a real fantasy fan but Chris Fox has a magical power of mixing alien worlds spaceships and dragons , a little for everyone . I read and enjoyed his Magitech Chronicles so I had no problem returning to these worlds.
This was a very good read. I didn’t know that I would like fantasy mixed with science fiction, but this book was really interesting. The characters were funny and relatable. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
