Let Yourself get wrapped up in this heart warming beautiful Amish Romance story with just the right amount of Suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat and glued to the pages. I loved that the Amish characters in this story rallied to help a stranger to their community. I thought the ending was very good and I wasn't left hanging until the next book is released. This book was uplifting, inspirational, entertaining and unpredictable. The cover is pretty and makes a reader want to pick up the book and read it.
Hannah/ Magnolia is a widow with three young daughters. Her husband has just been murdered and one of her young daughters witnessed the murder of her Dad. Now the murderer is after the child and the mother must do what ever it takes to keep her children safe. Even entering the witness protection program and becoming a married Amish lady.
Daniel Raber is an Amish bachelor and successful business owner. When his Bishop approached him to help an Englischer widow and three children in need of protection he agrees, even though because of his Amish faith he must marry her. Daniel is a man of many secrets and truthfully though he doesn't know this woman and her children he knows about them. Hanna has no idea who he is but agrees to marry him in order to blend in to the Amish community and protect her daughters. Will this be enough to keep her family safe from a ruthless killer who is searching for them and wanting to harm them?
I recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction and suspense stories. This book is the Authors debut novel for Love Inspired books.

Daniel Raber’s life changes overnight when his uncle , the bishop in their Amish community, along with a government agent turns up on his doorstep. Daniel is asked to take in Magnolia Reynolds and her three girls, who after her husband’s murder, have had their names changed and been placed into witness protection. Magnolia is the wife of Daniel’s brother, Michael, who left the Amish faith for the English lifestyle. So he could not be traced, Michael changed his name to Micah Reynolds when he walked away from family. He has since been murdered after getting in with the wrong people. Magnolia and the girls are hastily whisked into witness protection Magnolia becomes Hannah , and the girls become Catherine, Rosemary and Martha Jane, who wants to be known as MJ. Daniel seeks to do his best for his brother’s widow and children. Hannah doesn’t know he is Michael’s brother. Neither does she know his real name.
The only way to keep the family safe is for them to live there. But to do so with Amish rules would mean Daniel would have to really marry Hannah and she would need to behave like an Amish wife. This is a huge undertaking for them both. Can they make it work?
Hannah is determined to keep her distance emotionally but her girls seem to bond with Daniel. Even Rosemary, who witnessed the murder and has not spoken since, starts to change a little.
Daniel is a generous, warm-hearted person with a great sense of responsibility, prepared to do whatever he can to keep Hannah safe. Will it be enough or will danger find them?
Hannah is also likable and does her best in a less than ideal situation. The three children are well portrayed and will capture your heart, and Amish community members and lifestyle add interest.
Although this is a bit predictable in some aspects, this is engaging read that displays strong pelements of self sacrifice , grace and faith in God. I really enjoyed this book and feel sure many other people will too. This is my first book by this author and I am keen to read more, given how much I enjoyed this one.

His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past by Mindy Steele combines some of my favorite story elements into a gentle romance with layered characters. I love reading about witness protection stories, Amish country, and marriage of convenience romances, so this latest novel by Steele checked all my boxes. Add in a few quirky animals and some adorable kids and I’m completely here for it.

Daniel Raber is a genuinely good guy – respectful, sincere, trustworthy, and selfless. I loved the way he stepped up to the plate to protect his estranged brother’s family and honored that promise, no matter the sacrifice to himself. Very swoonworthy! Magnolia / Hannah also has a good heart and is very likable, despite the rough hand life has dealt her – a series of trials that culminates with her husband’s violent death & an immediate remarriage to a stranger in order to keep her girls safe from her husband’s killers. Her daughters will capture your heart, even the oldest one who struggles the most to adjust to all the recent upheavals, and the mischievous goats will leave you chuckling.

I did find the circumstances of Daniel & Hannah’s hurried marriage to be a bit unrealistic for what is asked of each of them, but I definitely enjoyed watching them grow closer and develop feelings for each other. Moments of well-timed humor and dashes of suspense are woven throughout the romance, adding to the layers and allowing the characters to let their guard down as their affection builds. Daniel makes a wonderful stepfather to his nieces, and their sweet & often adorable scenes steal the show more than once. The author tackles Hannah’s tumultuous past with grace and compassion, and in doing so she points us to the Source of healing and forgiveness.

Bottom Line: His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past by Mindy Steele gives readers the best of several worlds in the land of romance tropes, with something for fans of Amish fiction, marriage of convenience, and witness protection. Even though this isn’t under the Love Inspired Suspense umbrella, there’s enough danger to give readers a few heart-in-your-throat moments, too. And as Hannah & her girls adapt to this very new lifestyle, we get a little more insight into the Amish culture – a nice bonus! Sweet & swoony, this is a great choice for fans of Patricia Davids & Carrie Lighte.

What a story! Magnolia Reynolds and her daughters are in grave danger and they need a safe place to hide, but who would expect an Amish community to be the answer, and why would an Amish man be chosen to be their protector? Oh, we readers soon learn that there was a close relationship between Daniel Raber and her late husband, but Magnolia and her little girls have no idea. Can this Englischer mother and her little girls accept their new identities and remain in this community? Will they discover that Daniel has a secret motive for helping them?

Mindy Steele has already proven her talent for writing Amish fiction, but this book shows her ability to write mystery and suspense. His Amish Wife's Hidden Past has danger, intrigue, and many questions needing to be answered about Micah Reynold's murder, but it also has romance...sweet and thrilling romance! Daniel admires Hannah (Magnolia) for trying to adapt to a lifestyle so different from what she's known, and Hannah realizes that Daniel is truly sincere in his efforts to provide a home for her family. It's apparent that there's a strong chemistry between them, but are they brave enough to acknowledge it?

His Amish Wife's Hidden Past is a heartwarming story of love, devotion, and family. I highly recommend it to all who enjoy Amish fiction and romantic suspense novels.

I loved this sweet heartwarming story with characters you feel a part of. They are perfect with past hurts and scars that make them vulnerable and real. Add those dear, precious children that melt you in a puddle and you have a winner. Daniel is a wonderful step father and his patience and caring heart makes him a perfect hero. I couldn’t put this story down as it grabbed me from the start. It carries a powerful punch in a small LI package. This is my first book by Ms Steele but I definitely want to read more.

Author Mindy Steele has become one of those authors that I enjoy so much I have to read each of her books. Her writing style is not only easy to read but compels me to continue reading. This book is no different!

Hiding among the Amish, Hannah learns a lot about the simple life. So well written I felt her attempts to fit in, yet her fear of doing so. We learn quite a bit about the Amish lifestyle, customs, and the whys, which I really appreciate. It makes me rather envious and I wonder if I could do it.

A mystery, laced with humor and love of family, His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past is not only heartwarming, the suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat because you know something is coming. You just don’t know when and how. And I won’t tell you. Grab a copy and read it for yourself. You’ll be glad you spent time with the Raber family.

His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past is filled with dimensional characters, witness protection, mystery, family dedication, faith and romance. The children and animals added a lot to the story. Steele penned this tale in a way that made you realize the sacrifices Hannah was making by becoming Amish to protect her children. Daniel was a strong hero with his strength, sacrifices, and commitment to family, community and God. The children added their own sugar and spice to the story. Fans of Amish fiction will not want to miss this book by Mindy Steele.

This is the first Mindy Steele book that I have read. I chose this book as it pulls at my memories of becoming interested in the Amish community during a childhood trip after watching the movie Witness. It begins with a mom and her daughters in witness protection. I enjoyed the intricacy of the characters relationships. I appreciated how Daniel truly treated the children as if he the was their biological father. The moment that Hannah realized who Daniel was due to a story he shared about his brother was a turning point in their relationship. The book is well written with supporting characters whom I would like to see develop in a future book.

This was a really good story that had a fish out of water and marriage of convenience theme. And really, the girls and their mother took to Amish living very nicely, they simply had a lot of baggage to deal with from the tragedy that brought them to Amish country in the first place.

I really liked Daniel and the way he showed not only the girls, but also Hannah, how a man should treat his children and wife. I enjoyed the book from start to finish and kind of wish there was an epilogue a few months or a year into the future. But even without that, the ending was still very satisfying.

HIS AMISH WIFE’S HIDDEN PAST by Mindy Steele is the wonderfully told story of Magnolia Reynolds, who needs to hide in order to protect herself and her children, and Daniel Raber, who is determined to keep them safe.

After the murder of her husband, Magnolia finds out that her husband was not even close to the man she thought or hoped he was. That her marriage had been based on lies. Major life changing decisions had to be made and made quickly. Because her 6 year old daughter had witness the actual hit, she and her children were put in the witness protection system. They left everything they had and knew behind taken off to places unknown going to a safe house. This involved them changing their names. Magnolia was to become Hannah, a young Amish widow with three girls that had just married an Amish man.

Daniel was surprised to have his uncle and a stranger visit him late one evening. Their visit brought heartache and shock when he was told that his brother Michael, who had been going by the name Micah Reynolds, was dead. More so when he was told he had left a wife and three small children that needed his help. Daniel knew without even thinking about it that he would do all he could to help his newly found family from harm. It was decided that it would be for the best not to tell Hannah exactly who Daniel was or his connection to her at this time. The only problem was that under their Amish laws, the only way they could live in the same house was as husband and wife. So in the dead of night, never having laid eyes on the other before, they were married. Daniel had married his brother’s wife.

Unaware of the Amish ways Hannah and the girls had a lot to learn and adjust to. Surprisingly the adjusting wasn’t as hard as Hannah had thought it would be. She enjoyed the slower pace, staying busy with chores and being acknowledged with appreciation for what she did. Each daughter had their own problems to deal with, but Daniel’s determination to make them happy and safe and his undying patience helped him to make each one feel special in their own way and in trusting him to be there for them.

Slowly Hannah and Daniel began to feel a small spark that started off as friendship and trust and started to bloom into something else, although neither of them would have admitted it. But when Hannah finds out the truth and that Daniel had been lying to her, things seem to be taking a drastic detour. When the man looking for Magnolia is spotted in the area, Daniel is more determined than ever to keep “his” family safe.

Can the marshals, local police, the Amish community and Daniel keep Hannah and her daughters safe? Can Amish blend into the Amish community? Will the girls eventually accept Daniel as their new father? Can a relationship started for convenience and based on lies, regardless of the reasoning, withstand the trials and shine through in the end? Can Hannah find what she’s always desired – a place of belonging on a permanent basis and to be loved and respected? Will forgiveness be the key to opening the door to the future?

HIS AMISH WIFE’S HIDDEN PAST is the exceptional inspirational story of family, devotion, hope, patience, forgiveness and love. Mindy Steele writes a story that will keep you turning pages as you feel for the characters in the hardships of their past, the willingness to do whatever needs to be done for their loved one in the present and the hope for a brighter future for them all. She has you laughing at the antics of goats and a little girl that loves a dairy cow, on the edge of you seat when danger lurks and heart soaring when love conquers over evil.

HIS AMISH WIFE’S HIDDEN PAST in my opinion is a highly recommended must read book. FIVE STARS!

His Amish Wife's Hidden Past by Mindy Steele
Becoming an Amish wife
is her only option…
Englischer Hannah Raber will do anything to protect her children when they are sent into witness protection—even marry her late husband’s brother. Learning to be an Amish wife is a big adjustment, especially since she’s determined to keep an emotional distance. But as her girls bond with Daniel, Hannah can’t help but wonder if strangers from different worlds can turn a convenient marriage into a forever love…
This is Hannah Raber and Daniel Raber's story.
Thiry-year-old Magnolia Reynolds swiped the rain from her face and stepped into the dimly lit house behind the US marshal. Three days ago she was complaining about real estate contracts and how her husband breaking another promise to their children meant she would spend a night camping in the backyard while September gnats ate away at her flesh. Now, as a storm barreled overhead, she found herself widowed and running for her life.
She pulled Roslyn closer against her side as Sadie, her youngest, clung to her neck like a life raft. With all the emotions swirling inside her, she couldn’t imagine what waves of confusion her daughters were feeling, but fear was certainly high on the list.
And now she was expected to put their lives in the hands of strangers. It was ironic, seeing as she had married a man who had built his fortune on lies and broken promises. A man who left her alone to face the consequences of his actions.
Daniel Raber stood on his mill office porch, watching his two hired mill hands amble toward their buggies.
Another long day was over and Daniel was glad to see it go. Even he was feeling the effects of rushing to finish another lumber order in his tired bones.
September had started out humid and full of misery, but today, as ashen clouds moved gradually overhead, he felt the change of the seasons ignite. A slight chill of a rare northern wind blew over the Kentucky dirt. He looped both thumbs into his suspenders, closed his eyes, and inhaled the cool whiff mingled with sawdust and dusty earth. Life was shifting again. Imbalance was absolute.
I recommend reading.
His Amish Wife's Hidden Past by Mindy Steele is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Mindy Steele.

NoTe: You do realize it's cheating to stack ratings by giving away free copies for positive reviews, right? Nearly *ALL* of the reviews here were 'complimentary copies'... just sayin'. Talk about weighing the scales in your favor. Isn't that against the Bible... in a verse somewhere... maybe in Leviticus 19 and Proverbs 16...? (((BADLY DONE!!!)))

I hated this book. Simultaneously, I think every woman should give this book to her husband to read, as it explains what parenting as a father SHOULD BE. And it does it very well. But that's the *ONLY* thing this book does well.

To begin with, the girl on the cover looks fourteen - NOT an ex-realtor married ten years to a cad with three kids (9, 7, and 5). Um, NO. More, she has curly blonde hair - the girl on the front has straight red hair. It's awful.

Second, the title is preposterous. There is nothing hidden in her past - but his relationship to her husband is hidden MOST of the book. So screwed up.

And don't get me started on the names. His dad (Daniel) goes 'worldly' (Dan), but his brother (Michael) goes 'worldly'... Micah, not Mike? Really? Even if you used those names, Micah is more Amish than Michael, so they're backwards. It's STUPID.

They rename Magnolia 'Hannah', and the girls to non-Biblical names (Catherine, MJ, and Rosemarie) - that's NOT typical of Amish. Worse, the author has Magnolia calling her girls their Amish names in her head (pg 38) before she accepts that they HAVE new names (pg 39). Then she forgets the new names, later (pg 44). The author can't keep 'Hannah's' ability to either change or forget their names straight, and the story suffers for it.

Daniel has indoor plumbing. Unless he's filling the toilets with water bottles every flush? He doesn't have indoor plumbing - toilets are electric, hello. Pg 88 he has to explain his ELECTRIC FENCING to the girls. What the heck?!!

Pg 138 we're told Daniel 'has stopped shaving', because he's married. Married men DON'T stop shaving - they don't have moustaches. The author doesn't seem to recognize this fact. More, she has him wearing a STRAW hat to church Sunday (pg 148) - no Amish man would *ever* wear a straw work hat to services - they wear the black felt hats before God. BADLY written, hardly researched.

We're told on pg 55 that the Amish dress differently to 'stand apart from the world, but not draw attention'. Ha. Hahaha. HAHAHAHAHA. You're *kidding*, right? They don't attract attention?! That's a straight-up LIE. The Bible says 'be ye not conformed to the world, but BE YE TRANSFORMED BY THE *RENEWING OF YOUR MIND*' - not by your horse and buggy, your dress, your kapps, or your separate society. It's WRONG, scripturally.

'Hannah' says her girls won't sleep on their own 'possibly for years'. WHAT?! Catherine's NINE, hello...!! More, the author tells us the three little girls sit through a 3-hour church service and never squirm, once. These are Englisch kids raised in daycare/public school with a working mother. There is *NO POSSIBLE WAY* this happens. Not a chance.

Hannah was raised in foster homes - 'At least three'. She doesn't KNOW how many? Seriously?! I grew up military - I know *every* base we were at, and even mark time/events by what years we were living where. This is NOT HOW IT WORKS for displaced kids, hello.

More, we're told pg 117 that Hannah 'followed proper etiquette that was "ingrained in her from a young age". If she was tossed from foster home to foster home... WHO exactly did this? She didn't even go into foster care until she was a 'young girl', and didn't end up with decent people until she was around thirteen. NONE of this makes sense, or is written coherently/believably.

Repeatedly, Daniel has to 'carry the girls to bed' because they're asleep. Has this author ever had children? Because nine-year 0lds don't fall asleep and get carried to bed. Ever. I've had FIVE of them... not even seven year olds get carried to bed. It's ridiculous. This is the same nine year old who is his new office manager - organizing paperwork, counting skids of lumber, washing windows of her own volition, scrubbing the office floors, manning the phones, and taking legible messages. ALL IN ONE DAY, UNSUPERVISED. Um, NO!!!!

MJ says Daniel told her that her kapp 'couldn't keep all of her pretty in'. There is NO WAY that Daniel would say something like that - that statement would encourage 'hochmut', and the Amish would be loathe to do such a thing. It's against the Ordnung. BADLY written.

Speaking of bad writing:
--- "[Micah] had lived his own life, she lived for her children, and for six years, passing a kind word had become her normal." WHAT????
--- "Hannah hoped her lack of Amish wasn't noticeable." Her Amish *what*? Mannerisms? Speech? If it's speech, it's her lack of Deutch, which only pages later the author says Edith told her about, at an earlier point, so she wouldn't call it Amish. It's just BAD writing.

The MOST glaring problem is that the Feds knew about Micah's upbringing based on a photo *OF HIS AMISH FAMILY*. The Amish don't have/take photographs. More, if that ONE photo is the only way they knew about Daniel, then HOW IN HADES could the bad guy find them in Amishland? He didn't have the photograph, hello. HUGE plot flaws, there.

As for faith, Daniel (pg 36) is VERY much about the 'rules' and the Ordnung, but he has very little interest in the Bible. Extra-Biblical teachings (adding to/taking away from scripture) is against Scripture, hello. As for 'Hannah', he praises her as a 'godly' woman, but she never once prays, reads her Bible, talks about the Word, or goes to church (other than to 'come out' in the Amish society). There *IS* no inspirational in this 'Love, Inspired' book.

So no. This is a poorly written, badly done book on just about every level. BUT... the relationships are enough to make me hand it over to be read by my husband and sons. It's got *ONE* redeeming quality.

But honestly? Witness protection Amish stories are a dime a dozen. I'm thinking I'll probably run into a better version of this story in the future. Here's to hoping the author hones her skills and gets better, because this was a rough start.

His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past by Mindy Steele drew me right in. I found this to be a touching tale. This Amish story has suspense, danger, family, fear, romance, and faith. I thought His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past was well-written with engaging, developed characters. I just loved the characters in this story. They are realistic and friendly. Hannah’s youngest two are adorable. M.J. will capture your heart. I liked that this was a different Amish story. A mother and her three girls need a place to hide out after one of the girls is witness to a deadly crime. Daniel Raber is an Amishman who run the local lumber mill. Daniel has never married because he has yet to find the right woman for him. We get to experience everyday life with the Raber’s as Hannah and her daughters adjust to their new their new lives on an Amish farm. They are nervous because the man who is after them could show up at any moment, but it is a new experience for them. There are cows, horses, and goats that are the bane of Daniel’s existence. I liked the humor incorporated into the book. I laughed several times while reading. I was sorry for this sweet story to end. His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past is a heartwarming, suspenseful tale with waggish goats, a benevolent bishop, an indignant older daughter, a quiet child, mouthwatering meals, and a despicable killer.

Wow oh wow, His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past by Mindy Steel is just tremendous. It is truly a story you can’t put down by an amazing author.

Witness protection in Amish country no less. Who would have ever thought of that storyline? Mindy Steel, that’s who.

This is a well written story of Englischer, Magnolia, later her name will be changed to Hanna; and her three daughters. They are having to run for their lives and having to hide from a very bad man. Hanna’s husband was killed for trying to cheat the mob and now she and her girls are having to pay the price.

Enters Daniel Raber, an Amish mill owner, and brother to Hanna’s late husband. Daniel agrees to protect this family in his home. Only one catch, Daniel and Hanna must wed in order for her to stay there.

Through this storyline, we are introduced to many Amish customs and rules unknown to the average Englischer in the true Mindy Steel way.

This 5-star book will be released, September 28, 2021. You should not hesitate to preorder

His Amish Wife's Hidden Past is an inspirational romance story written by Mindy Steele. Her characters are absolutely perfect for this story. I loved all three of the young girls each with such different personalities and feelings. The storyline is one I have not read before and I was hooked from the beginning. This story is filled with secrets, forgiveness, family, and faith. When Hannah Raber finds herself in witness protection on an Amish farm she accepts her fate but what lies ahead for her and her three darling daughters is nothing she could ever have dreamed of. I loved the way the author takes steps to transform each character over time to accept their new lifestyle.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to read Hannah’s story on how she became Amish with her three little girls. I already loved Daniel, the Amish dad, from Courting Daniel’s Daughter (Catherine’s story) and Saving Daniel’s Daughter (Rosemary’s story).

Imagine having to flee with your three young daughters to a new city and state, an entire new way of living and by the end of the night being married. This was Hannah’s story.

An emotional read that ends at Thanksgiving so an appropriate holiday read.

I enjoyed this book very much. It was intriguing to watch a family of "English" females adapt to the Amish world. There was a touch of suspense, but nothing too scary. I enjoyed how the Amish community welcomed Hannah and her girls and rallied around them. I also enjoyed watching Hannah and her girls get to know Daniel. Some parts of the book seemed a bit disjointed to me but it didn't take away from the story. If you like Amish fiction, I recommend this book.

Mindy Steele has added a little bit of mystery and intrigue to her writing in His Amish Wife's Hidden Past. This was another of Steele's books that was hard to put down! Read it in two nights! Daniel, Hannah and her adorable daughters will steal your hearts, and by the end of the book, you feel you personally know each of them. This just makes me want to go join an Amish community!

His Amish Wife’s Hidden Past by Mindy Steele
WOW, if you want Mystery, Romance, and great Amish Christian Fiction that we all have come to love than this is the book for you.
Hannah Raber will do what it takes to protect her girls, Daniel Raber has had his life turned upside down and would have it no other way but can they trust each other enough to know this really is God plan and everything that has happened in their lives to date has lead them to this moment.
What would you do to protect those you love how far would you go and what price is to big? I am so impressed with this book, the characters will pull at your heartstrings. Little MJ will have you wanting to reach through the pages of the book and pull her out to hug her. Daniel is a man every mother will want for her daughter and Hannah will leave you wanting to befriend her, set at her table so she know’s she is loved.
Pick up this book and read it you won’t be sorry it’s a fantastic read I highly recommend it.

My experiences with Amish romance is very limited, with the first one I ever tried not being quite for me. But there's a reason that trying genres twice can be a good thing, and this story was a prime example. I really enjoyed it. Reading about Hannah and her little girls healing while having to hide out and marry Daniel made for great reading. Daniel was an awesome hero, so sweet and protective of the girls, and so caring of Hannah. Poor Hannah had an awful past and didn't think a lot of herself, but she went above and beyond for her children, whose characters I absolutely loved. I loved that this was a marriage of convenience combined with a dash of suspense, and some drama considering that Daniel was hiding things. If you like Amish romance, or if you want to try one for yourself, I recommend trying this. It was quick, easygoing, and with some really likable and sweet characters.
