Eli Schrock’s life is pleasant enough. He likes his work as a farrier in his father’s smithy. He likes the girl he’s courting, Rebecca Hochstettler. Yet there is no passion for what he does or where he lives, and part of him yearns to see more of the world and get more of an education than the standard Amish eighth grade.
When he meets Susanna Wittmer, though, everything changes. Her vibrancy and spunk immediately attract him, and the more he gets to know her, the more he realizes he never really loved Rebecca. But Rebecca isn’t about to let him go so easily, and she’s hatching a plan that could force him to marry her – or destroy all three of their lives forever…
A nice story. The writing needs a little more editing. I was most impressed with the strength and support that the hero’s father provided in this story. Some of the descriptions of the characters and the surroundings were beautifully written. The thing is this story could have been written about anyone anywhere. I really learned nothing about the Amish. Perhaps that is ok. Perhaps it is good to know that we are some much alike in our differences.
The first couple of pages started out slow, but picked up quickly. Lies, no matter how big or small, can cause problems for everyone involved. Eli had a great dad. He was very understanding and supportive of his son. Like Joel told Eli "Be Still, and know that I am God". Best advice ever. This was an awesome book. Thanks Hannah!
When Rebecca saw Eli falling in love with Susanna, she had one of friends start a rumor that her and Eli had been intimate and had to marry. Eli's father said he knew that his son had not done as the rumor stated so he should pray to God for help in this matter. Everyone should read this book.
I am having 2nd thoughts about my relationship with Rebecca, I just don’t what is missing but I know I don’t love her like I should. The work load is getting more than we can handle so dad decided to hire someone wolfhound could come and do the books for us. Each day I am drawn to her more.
I liked how this book covered rumors and the heartbreak they can cause. It not only affects the people the rumor is about but their families also. It was nice the person who started the rumors came forward and told the truth. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
This book was filled with so much wonderful drama. I couldn’t believe an Amish woman could be so devious. I’m so glad Eli and Susanna was able to find love. I did feel sorry for Rebecca because she was so desperate. An absolutely good read.
The story makes you realize that what you say about a person can ruin them. Therefore you should never say or spread a lie, about them or yourself. You and that person will be hurt
A sweet story about actually three Amish young adults and the difficulties that arise when a drastic change is suddenly a possibility. An enjoyable, easy read that is a perfect solution to a rainy day.
I enjoyed this book. It is wholesome, no sexual content, no bad language. It has a good believable story base. The writer did an excellent job of her story.
This was a really sweet Amish romance story. Eli and the Amish girl his father hires to help with the family blacksmith business fall in love. His old girlfriend causes problems and delays their HEA. I enjoyed the story and would definitely recommend it.
Although this is a very short book, it is well-written. It has good characters with distinct personalities. It is an Amish love story with a different twist!
I really enjoyed this book. It is such a sweet romance and I really enjoyed the characters in it.It has a good story line and I recommend it to read by anyone.
I loved the story of love from the first time they saw each other but the loyalty to handle the situation with grace. In the end the truth will prevail.
Rebecca wanted to marry Eli. When Susanna moved to town she could see his affection changing . She and her friend, Beth, settled on a plan to change his mind.
