Dark Bratva Romance

For seven years, I tried to feel.
For seven years, I tried to push the abyss of my past behind me.
For seven years, I chased adrenaline, bedded man after man, succumbed to the darkness that had consumed my soul.
Seven years later, I had no idea how far I could still fall.
It wasn’t until my best friend—my only friend—asked me to do a job.
My mark: tall, dark, dangerous.
He was the head of the West Coast Russian Bratva, one of the most powerful men in the world.
Two shadowed souls drawn to each other, seeking a light that had been ripped away from us.
But there are people much more dangerous in our world—and they found us.
For seven years, I tried to bury something within me that might be our only way to survive.
Seven years later, they’re going to wish I had died

Fantastic debut by KF Hassall!

I'm not the biggest fan of mafia books, so giving one 5 stars is almost unheard of for me.

Hellkat is well written (I can't get over that it's a debut!) and edited. I was sucked in from the very start, and only reluctantly put it it down when I absolutely had to.

The characters were awesome, realistic, and I'm sorry ladies, but I'm stealing Kir! I don't care that my book boyfriend room is already overflowing...he's mine. What a delicious man. Sexy and loyal and dangerous and ready to kill anyone that touches his girl. My kind of man.

There's a lot of dark elements in this, so if you have triggers, please tread lightly. Buy that's mixed in with a fantastic love story, making it, in my eyes, a perfect book.

The author has just found a huge fan, and I will definitely be reading all her future work.

Amazing debut, KF Hassall, congrats! ❤

Kir is Bratva Pakhan in Vegas, dangerous, ruthless, uncompromising. He ruled his empire with the iron fist, and there are not many that dare to cross him. Until Kat stands on his way. She
didn't have an easy childhood, abandoned by mother, her father wasn't supportive and the right parental role model in her life, basically she never felt loved. It's not surprising, when on her way stands a man who as a first shows her care and attention she was lacking so badly, she trusts him blindly and completely, only to be betrayed the worst possible way and sent her to hell. After surviving and several years have passed, Kat still cannot fully escape her past. When her best friend asks her to steal information from Kir, she's taking the job, not suspecting what might come out of it. And how the past will clash with her present.
Kir is a typical alpha male, protective, caring and possessive. His affection for Kat is pure from the very beginning, and despite developments he stays loyal to it, uncovering layer by layer what she is hiding. I loved how Kat step by step allowed herself to trust another person, dealing with her demons. How strong, fearless and bold she is no matter the situation. Their passion, chemistry and tenderness for each other is pure, raw and perfectly balanced.
HellKat is a dark mafia romance, with such an unlike and captivating plot that piqued my curiosity from the very beginning. Packed with unexpected and violent twists and turns, suspense, action and how the storyline evolves guarantee an emotional rollercoaster. Last two chapters left me wrecked and crying my eyes out.

This was the first romance novel I’ve read, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m normally interested in mystery or thriller, and was very pleasantly surprised that this book fit both those genres! I definitely wouldn’t have guessed this was KF Hassall’s first novel because it was very well written and kept me engaged to the end. Chapter 41 really got me and I had to go for a run to recover before finishing, but other than that I couldn’t put it down!

I have been impatiently waiting for Hellkat since I read KF Hassall’s short story Flight Risk, earlier this summer. Let me just say it did not disappoint. I’ve been struggling to write this review because I’m afraid I won’t give it the justice it deserves. Once I started this book it pretty much consumed my life. I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry & banter between Kir & Kat. The inner dialogue often had me chuckling & I genuinely appreciated the authors descriptive writing style. I’ve read a lot of books & have found it’s sometimes easy to predict what’s going to be said, but I was pleasantly surprised with this book.
Kat is strong, fierce & independent-always looking for her next mark. She’s an adrenaline junkie through & through. When her only friend puts her on this job, as dangerous as it is, she can’t say no. Kir is the leader of the Russian mob. He’s dark, sexy & demanding. When the two collide it’s fire. Kir see’s past the front Kat puts up & it penetrates his hard exterior. This book was fast paced & kept me on the edge of my seat. There were times I wanted to impatiently skip ahead, but stopped myself. Kir is 100% alpha male & had me swooning from the start. Seeing Kat grow & learn to trust was one of my very favorite things. The end of this book was bittersweet for me. While I was happy with the way it turned out, I was definitely not ready for it to be over. Luckily this is only part one & I look forward to Viktor, Kir’s second in command, in book two.

“How could I have thought she was my possession when it’s clear it’s the opposite? I’m hers. How could I have thought to keep her captive, when it’s me who’s ensnared by her this entire time.”

This is a forced proximity dark mafia romance & touches on some hard subjects. Please read the trigger warnings.

I received an arc & this is my honest review.

Two words.... Simply brilliant! Its hard to believe that this is a debut novel.

This book blew me away and had me gripping my kindle the whole way through. This book had everything I love in a Bratva story. It had the brutality, the badas* men and the twist and turns, the really good bad buy, the angst and then you have the leading FMC totally owning her role and also kicking as*.

Kat was brilliant. I loved her character straight away. To read her journey was amazing and a few tears I have to say, my heart went out to her and then I cheered. This Lady had it all going for her. She was a joy to read.

Kir was seriously hot. His character was the ultimate Bratva pakhan and exactly how I picture one to be and yet when you read the story and find out about his up bringing and his story, and then how things progress, it is such an amazing reveal.

Kir and Kat together has some serious chemistry going on and I love their connection from the outset. To read their journey was very enjoyable I have to say. Their sexy time was pretty intense and seriously hot as well.

I did enjoy reading Viktor and Sasha in this story. Their joined back story with Kir was really interesting and their loyalty throughout was great to read.

Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable story. I loved it. I was hooked straight away and just couldn't put it down. If this is what a debut novel looks like from KF Hassall, then I look forward to see where this author takes us as it will be far and wide. Very talented author, that is for sure.

I was given this book free from the author and I voluntarily leave this honest review.

I absolutely love a good thriller added to the plot of an amazing romance, so that made HellKat a novel I couldn’t put down. A dark mafia boss falling for a feisty thief that he can’t get out of his apartment? Oh yeah, sign me up! Kir overcame his tragic upbringing to become king of his crime corner of the country and Kat had to be tenaciously badass to get though her childhood as well. These two were so evenly matched— I am still obsessed with how this snarky and sassy bond came to be… cooking lessons, anyone?! I am always a fan of strong women main characters and tattooed bad boys, or men in Kir’s case. The steamy scenes between Kir and Kat are top notch! I highly recommend this read to anyone looking for a fast paced novel full of love, steam & twists. There are some dark moments in the book— so make sure to read the trigger warnings! Thank you so much to the author, K.F. Hassall, for sending me this ARC in exchange for my honest review. I truly cannot wait for Book #2 in this series!!

4.25/5 stars!

Due to her past, the heroine ends up as a thief. To help a friend, the heroine goes to Las Vegas to steal something from the hero, the Pakhan of a Bratva mafia group. Instant attraction arises between the two. And as the heroine stole the requested item, she gets caught. Instead of the usual methods, the hero tries seduction, never realizing that things will change as he continues to interact with the heroine. Especially as he has his own troubles to figure out.

This is the first K. F. Hassall book I've read. It's a dark mafia romance about two broken persons who ends up falling in love with each other. The relationship fits the whole genre and the story sucks you in. There were critical secondary characters that needs their own stories in the future due to the overall series plot, which I'm looking forward to reading in the future. There are content warnings that encompass a dark romance including strong language, violence, and more. Overall I truly enjoyed reading this K. F. Hassall book and look forward to more of the Hellbound series.

This was my first time reading anything by this author so I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I wasn't let down in the slightest.

I'll be the first to admit I'm a sucker for a multi view POV and well the inner dialogue between our main characters just had me cracking up throughout the whole book. Kat is fierce, strong and insanely funny. She's everything I look for in a FMC and more. She's a constant enigma that I found myself drawn to and trying to understand her. Kir was also an amazing MC and well I loved everything about him as well. I must admit that the start of this series was also refreshing since it didn't really remind me of any other typical mafia books I've read. Reading unique/ refreshing takes on common tropes is something I really strive for and this author did a fantastic job of it!

If you're looking for something different and a little out there then I'd recommend reading this book! I'm also super excited for Viktor's story too!!

Okay so this is my first book from KF HASSALL and she fucking killed it! First off, I love a good Bratva story....add in forced proximity and I am hunkered down and ready to not doing anything except read until the real world finally calls me back to life.

Kat = such a fucking badass. She has been through so much but is one of the toughest bitches I have ever met.

Kir - you handsome bastard. For being a ruthless pakhan, you sure do have a sweet spot for someone who swindled you.

This combination of alpha meets his match and sweet fire was to die for. I wanted the story to keep on going because I just loved this couple (and their chemistry …duh) and wanted to know more about them. However; I will be patiently waiting for the next installment in the series!!

What a fantastic debut! I am all for all the mafia books and this one was great! Kir and Kat are fantastic they are instantly drawn to one another and their chemistry is explosive and of the charts sexy! Kat is a true survivor and fighter. The crap she went through at the hands of some disgusting men is unimaginable and then to come out on top and thrive even in the darkness shows how much strength she truly has. Kir is the perfect alpha all sexy broody ruthless but most of all loyal and protective of those he cares about. This book at me from the first page and I couldn’t put it down until the end. That ending was great to and I can’t for for the next story!

HellKat, the first book in the Hellbound series, is a very dark mafia romance. KF Hassall delivers a fantastic debut novel. The exciting by-play between Kir and Kat is great! Excuse the pun, but the “cat & mouse” game they play leaves you wondering who is which (in the best way possible!). HellKat sparked my greediness with wanting to see what happens next. What unexpected bold twists and sultry passages would captivate me. I’m looking forward to book 2 when Viktor, Kir’s second in command, gets his shot with dark romance.

Beautifully written Debut mafia book! I was so sucked in from the get go. Learning about the trauma Kat had gone through and to see how her and Kir grow together almost gave a fated mate vibe without that aspect added in. The dark and spicy then to have a death causing your heart to clench *chefs kiss* but the cliffhanger she leaves with isn't huge but still has me pinning for book 2. Truly amazing job K.F!

So this book was seriously good! It has been awhile since I have read a mafia romance that just blew me out of the water & this one has done just that. Add to it that this is KF Hassle’s debt novel, and you have a book that you definitely need to read.

The two main characters were amazing! They each had some serious baggage from their past & both were so strong.

There were so many twists and turns in here & it kept me on my toes. I loved this book & I cannot wait for the second one.

Holy SMOKE!!! Definitely not your typical Bratva story. If this is the debut novel, I'm beyond excited for the next installment! With incredibly strong characters who have overcome horrific pasts and a compellingly well thought out and written storyline, this book delivers! Plenty of action, intrigue, steam and betrayal to keep you on your toes, wishing for more.

I received an ARC copy and am voluntarily leaving my review. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ all the way!!!

I instantly loved Kat and her sassy personality. Her type of badassery is my fav in a MC! Kir was also the perfect mix of dominant and soft as he tries to get Kat to open up about her past trauma.

I loved Hassall’s writing style and how quickly I was immersed into this world. Not to mention the ending - plot twists left and right! I can’t wait for book 2 to come out later this year!

This story portrays the universe of the Russian Bratva with Kir at the head of it in Las Vegas. A man who is fired for all the I formation he detained in a USB. He’s surrounded by fierce persons such as Viktor, Sasha and Alex who went through hell with him. On the overhand, there is Kat who got paid to steal and go after Kir’s most valuable possession. But it was without counting on the chemistry they share.

This is a Russian mafia story with all the usual trigger warnings, it was not as dark as I thought but it can still be disturbing.
For fans of the mafia universe, it is a good one well built.
I’m curious about the next one !

I suppose the best place to start with this is read the "trigger warning" under the description before going into this. So many times I see reviews where the reader complains and it was announced by the author in the description!!!!

This is a bit darker of a romance than I normally read, not because I am opposed to them but because I just tend to go for more lighthearted material. I am really glad I took a chance on this book because I absolutely loved it. Kir won my heart over pretty quickly and Kat, how could one not like her. Neither one of these characters have had easy lives but they are survivors. I have no doubt they are each other's soul mates.

Kir's hard exterior is nothing to how soft his interior is when it comes to his Katya. Kat is so incredibly fierce, a true survivor and yet Kir manages to ease his way into her heart. Just as these two are opening up to each other Kat's past comes crashing back into her life and it becomes a race against the clock for Kir to save her.

There were many times in this story my heartbeat was racing like crazy because it was so good and got my anxiety going (in a good way). The way it is written will leave you not being able to put it down because you have to know what happens next. Then...those last couple chapters...OMG!!! I liked the lead in to who appears to be Viktor's (Kir's right hand man) love interest and I am super excited for his story. KF Hassall has given readers a good first book in what I have no doubt will be a successful series.

I was very positively surprised by this book, by an author I did not know. There are no complex characters, and their motivations and circumstances are treated lightly, just enough to give us to understand a little of their background, but the narrative has a pulse, the story is well crafted and is very entertaining.

Being a story that takes place in the world of the mafia, I missed a little more content in that aspect, more development of the dirty business, arms trafficking and drug trafficking, which are only superficially mentioned, which somehow contributes to soften the image of the main character by not presenting him as a villain to the fullest extent.

I don't like those books in which the author tries to turn a king of the underworld into a decent character from one day to the next, something that fortunately doesn't happen here, and I hope it won't happen in future installments.

Although I like mobster stories with much more darkness, more villains, more anti-heroes, I recognize that as a counterpoint the heroine is far from being the typical innocent girl, and seems to accept her man despite being a criminal, which I love because I like bad girls, and if they participate and collaborate in dirty business, so much the better.

In short, a very pleasant book to read that leaves me with a very good taste in my mouth and a desire for more.

Absolutely amazing! Great writing, captivating plot and fun character Kat is a thief and she has to get a USB drive with a bunch of information a blacklist if you will and she has to steal it from the head of I think it’s the mob. And then she gets caught and held captive by him a lot more happens, but I don’t wanna give anything away so I’ll leave you with that. Kat is a bad ass FMC, who knows how to kick ass and as a strong, independent woman, however, unlike most she does not have her ego in charge and the MMC. Fir is the head and we got to see him in the torture room and we’ve got to see him being bad ass yet we’ve also see him being really tender and kind to her. I love the side characters and the bad ass hacker and really hope at some point all of them get their own books

I want more!

I read almost exclusively paranormal romance / urban fantasy, so stepping outside of that scope isn't something I do often. When I do, it's rare that a story keeps my interest. I LOVED this one and I cannot wait for the next book!
