The Horror Movie Male Lead’s Winter

Rate this book
Guan Ling was now 30 years old.

Six years after his debut, he won an award for his performance and made a lot of money. He was also married to someone for these past seven years. According to reason, he should be the object of envy for everyone.

It was a pity……

The award-winning work was a horror movie and the male lead character he played was a bloodstained one-eyed zombie. Therefore, even if he swaggered around the streets, there was still no one who would recognize him.

Since he had been introduced to the entertainment industry by a famous director, his salary was fairly high. If the money he had earned in those six years were to accumulate, it would make a total of eight-figures. Unfortunately, there was no opportunity for the money to accumulate. It would disappear into thin air almost as soon as it entered his bank account. It was all given away to his lover as funds to pour into that bottomless hole-like company.

As for the lover to whom he had been married for seven years…… Guan Ling glanced up and expressionlessly read the small line of words on the computer screen——

“The difference between the passionate love period and the indifferent period is that when you touched his hair, his XX would stand up but now you touch his XX, and his hair stands up.”

Oh, man! Guan Ling pressed the power button right away and the text in front of him disappeared instantly. He sighed in relief and silently threw himself onto the empty bed.

A fairly short story about a marriage being tested by the most realistic relationship issues. It shows that a successful marriage isn't all about just love. I appreciate that the author didn't use cheating or a misunderstanding involving a love affair as the conflict.

It's not that the MC and ML no longer love each other or that their feelings for each other have changed. It's just that, in a relationship, sometimes you drift apart because of the things going on in your individual lives. Both of them chose to just stand still because they didn't realize that the distance between them was gradually growing. Lack of time and communication was the root cause, and because of that, it took them a little while to directly address the issue. But when they did, they handled it maturely.

I loved the reconciliation because it showed how both of them were putting in the effort to avoid making the same mistakes. Both characters are flawed, but you will definitely root for them. Their relationship is the kind where the problems they face as a couple only strengthen their bond instead of causing it to decline, and I always love seeing that.

3.5 stars. I liked this one a lot because the characters had a struggling marriage, but that didn’t mean the love had went away. It simply meant that they needed to put effort into their union again.

The only thing I thought was absurd was how the situation with Qi Tongrui went, but I understand that it was Xiao Cheng’s opportunity to protect Guan Ling when he had been unable to before. There was miscommunication between them, but it wasn’t unfixable. They just needed to be able to rely on each other again. All in all, it was sweet. Guan Ling supported Xiao Cheng while his business was starting up, so in turn, Xiao Cheng decided that he would support Guan Ling for the rest of his life.

This was a quick read because it only has 17 chapters. It involves mature characters that are approaching their 30s and who have been together for more than 7 years. There wasn't much angst because the author didn't intend to write something like that with this story.

Instead, the author wrote a story about the importance of remembering what's important to those in a relationship and how to keep their relationship alive despite all odds.

Guan Ling (MC) and Xiao Cheng (ML) have been together through thick and thin but as they grew older and became more preoccupied with work, they drifted apart and kept their thoughts from each other. A pivotal moment caused both of them to reflect on their lives as individuals but more importantly, as lifelong partners. And they both realised that neither and both of them were to blame for their strained relationship.

I really liked how the author explored their relationship in terms of the insecurities faced by the MC and the protectiveness of the ML when things came to light. And the fact that both of them loved each other enough to want to make things work instead of just running away from their problems. Well, the MC did go on a holiday for a bit but he still came back in the end after sorting out all his thoughts and what he wanted in his relationship with his spouse and I think that's what's important. That they realised what they were lacking in as partners and tried to cover all their bases to make each other happy.

This is a really sweet, short story about a married couple having some differences and getting distant seven years into their marriage, and their reconcilation with each other.

It's not heavy on the angst, in fact there is minimal drama here. Features a pair of very mature characters, and equally well fleshed out side characters. The author says that she didn't have any particular message to send - just that marriage trifles aren't always a negative thing, and that relationships can be happy and long lasting as well, as long as it is with the correct person. I think she succeeded in conveying it!

A very quick read, but nonetheless enjoyable. Kudos to the translator for such a wonderful translation as well!

As a woman who has been together with my husband for 9 years and married to him for 4, I find this to be a realistic read. (Although there are other things married couples fight about, and some are so mundane, you'll laugh about it after a few years.) I was aghast at the first two chapters, though, because I can't imagine doing what the MC did to his husband (mine would get seriously anxious if I'm just a couple of hours not home on time). The story shows something about marriage, though: it's not supposed to be hella difficult, and there's no straight cut secret either. If you've found the right person, things should be relatively smooth.

Rating: 5/5- Really simple but beautiful story about not giving up even when the going gets tough.

Being a person who’s a cynic when it comes to relationships and marriage, I felt slightly moved by the author’s motivation to write this short story. Perhaps companionship isn’t as complex as we think or perhaps it is- but it takes a two people to work at things for everything to be okay.

I guess human emotions are too complex almost all the time but there is nothing that communication and effort can’t fix.

A very good read.

Started out fine, then suddenly went downhill. Xiao Cheng turning into the typical protective-possessive-doting gong was unexpected and unwelcome, Guan Ling blushing and helplessly watching from the sidelines as his husband orders something he disagrees with (that directly related to him!) was boring. I liked it in the beginning, when the two leads seemed like normal, mature people, so the book devolving into typical gong-shou interactions was disappointing.

A little heart wrenching at the start but has a very good message about communicating your wants and needs being vital to a relationship. I love me a good story about communication. The face-slapping bit wasn't entirely necessary but did give the ML a chance to really show how much he doted on the MC.

Too short to properly explore characters in death and have much of a plot, but it was good and had nice message about marriage and relationships. Their love for each another was what made reading the book worth it. If it was longer and had more to it it would have been 5 but now it is 3 stars.

4.5 stars actually hehe

Short but sweet 😌👌

The story shows that in a marriage, there will come a time when you might lose the passion you both had during the first years of your relationship, but as long as you love each other deeply and truly, no matter what, nothing and no one can get in between you.
