It’s me. Your favorite.

It was always meant to be like this, wasn’t it?

I had a supporting role in all of my friends’ love stories.

Now I’m the leading man in my own.

This is how I fell in love with Makenna Brady, my friend’s little sister. The woman I would take a bullet for, the woman I would jump in front of a bus to save.

We also have a little secret. We got married and no one knows about it.

So sit back, grab your favorite light beer (you know mine) and marvel in my strong pick-up game.

I promise. It’s worth the wait. She was worth the wait.

Author’s Note: While Hubby can be read as a standalone, it rewards readers who have previously read the Here in Lillyvale series before diving into this one. This book overlaps storylines with the first three books in the series (Here, Hustle, and Home) and does include spoilers for those books. This book does start in first person, but the bulk of the story is told in third person. Expect foul language and explicit sex scenes. It might be too sexy for some readers. Reader discretion is advised.

What a journey this series has been. It's challenged me and steered me toward my voice as a writer. It hasn't quite hit me yet that I have to say goodbye to Caroline, Zoey, Taylor, Addison and Makenna, so it's a see ya real soon.

I was always excited to tell Dan's story since I had parts of it planned from Book 1. The biggest surprise was Makenna. Although she doesn't look a damn thing like me and doesn't act in the same way I would, she has a piece of me that is more true than the others. I just love her so much.

And Dan. DAN. He has been my favorite from day 1. We all know a version of him. An exuberant, fiercely loyal, loving man who has been hurt before, but refuses to give up on love. I'm so happy I wrote such a good love story for him.

Can you tell I'm proud of this one?

This was amazing!
I love this book. Dan is my favorite and I'm happy to see him get his happily ever after.
This was a great end to the series and the epilogue was amazing too.
Love it!

What a perfect ending to this delightful series. I not so patiently waited for the fourth installment of the Here in Lillyvale tale and Jenny Bunting delivered the exact story we all needed to (sadly) wrap-up this series. I will miss this group of friends and all of their shenanigans. Jenny writes laugh-out-loud scenes and fast-paced reads with relatable characters. They are funny, smart, vulnerable, deep, and could be people you actually know in your real life.

Beyond the characters, the writing of this story blew me away. Jenny basically re-wrote her entire series from the perspective of Dan and Makenna, who were both heavily involved in the three previous stories. It was almost as if we got two additional perspectives for each of the other three characters' love stories, but learned a LOT more about what else was happening with their love story.

A few things were resolved in this book and you wouldn't have even realized needed to be tied up until you got the Makenna/Dan perspective. We learned more about Dan's feelings about Zoey, Makenna's relationship with her sister in law Caroline, how Dan worked his magic to convince both Taylor and Malcolm and Addison and Kirk to end up together. We also learned more about how Dan earned Makenna's attention and kept their relationship sacred and private throughout all of their friends' drama.

I cannot recommend reading the Here in Lillyvale series enough. The first three books could be read in any order as they are standalones in an interconnected series, but do NOT read the fourth book until you've read the first three. Read this book, follow this author - you will not regret it.

She is a wild child that can't help but be drawn to a man completely her opposite.

Mackenna has never been a fan of convention or rules. She followed her dream by moving to LA to be a makeup artist, but it didn't work out exactly as she hoped. One trip home to Lillyvale for her brother's wedding she meets Dan Price. He isn't her type, but she cannot deny how much she likes him.

Dan Price is the King of smalltown Lillyvale. He followed his ex girlfriend here and never left. Dan has a big personality and big dreams to match. His charm has him being a groomsman but never a groom. When he meets a tall, gorgeous influencer who happens to be his friend's sister, he is awestruck. When flirts back with him, he has to shake himself to see if he is in a dream.

What started as a one night stand turns into a secret relationship. Everyone loves Dan, and Mackenna is no different. But when their mutual friends ask them if they are together, Mackenna's first response is to deny. While they started out casual, they easily commit to a real relationship just in secret from everyone. Both feel like they aren't good enough to be with the other despite how much they love each other.
When they finally decide to reveal their relationship, their lies tarnish the excitement.
For Dan, he cannot believe this amazing woman is willing to pursue a relationship with him even though he is a king among men, extremely involved in his community and financially successful. Mackenna is his love at first sight, unbelievable dream and he is willing to do anything to keep her. For Mackenna, when it's just her and Dan, her messy life is easier. Hiding their relationship also hides her insecurities and worry about what people will think of her. When Dan turns out to be her perfect Prince Charming, she is scared that she is going to dull his shine with her issues. Love between them comes easily, but finding the happy ever after is going to come at a price.

Dual POV. Secret relationship.

The story was angsty yet fun. Dan is a male Disney Princess. He loves big, his stature is short. He has golden retriever energy and makes the world a better place because he is in it. Since book one in this series, Dan has been in the foreground helping his friends like any fairy godmother would. Little did we know he was finding his own love story behind the scenes. Mackenna is the popular girl everyone loves and loves to hate. Her Instagram life instills jealousy and remains a facade to her real messy life. Her friends love her and don't see that she struggles with her self worth. From the first flirty moment, Dan saw her in a way no one else ever has. The attraction and chemistry between them is strong from the very beginning. Each one saw the other as too good for them which was a beautiful way for them to start a relationship. Even during the most angsty times, there is no question of their love for each other. I love that this whole story takes place on the exact timeline as the other stories in the series. The author does a great job incorporating the details for the other stories with creativity and continuity. This story was so grand and charming it felt worthy of the big personality of Dan and how much everyone who meets him loves him. Great HEA and Epilogue with an awesome time jump!

Bonus: all the secondary characters we know and love.

(ARC Review) I've loved this whole series and this was the perfect ending! We've seen Dan and Makenna dance around each other throughout the series and it was a delight to experience what really happened behind the scenes.

Dan and Makenna meet at her brother's engagement party, and while the spark is immediate, there's a lot that keeps them apart. Makenna likes Dan but believes she is a ruiner, she's been treated as a screw up by her family her whole life and doesn't want to break Dan. Dan doesn't care about all that, he just knows he wants Makenna.

They begin a secret affair, hiding the truth from their friends and family, but slowly falling in love in the meantime. When the time comes to tell everyone what’s really been going on, Makenna has to decide what’s really important to her.

I <3 Dan Price, he's one of my favorite characters and if anyone deserves an HEA it’s him. He's a confident charmer, not letting his (lack of) height stop him from going after the woman he wants. I love that he’s not a traditional romance hero, at least physically. He's a bit of a puppet master in his friend's lives which is how we got to know him throughout the series, and it was fun to revisit the time’s he meddled. We also got to know him better, instead of just the man behind the curtain, we got to experience his tender heart and infinite patient love. He’s the kind of man that will do anything for the woman he loves, even if it hurts him at times.

I grew to love Makenna as well. Her tough girl attitude is just a front to keep people away and she’s a lot more insecure than she lets on. Her family doesn’t understand her lack of traditional ambition, and she lets their criticisms influence her decisions.

The book is very very steamy, the physical connection between the two is immediate and fiery. It’s the steamiest of the four books and I loved it. It’s also very funny, especially Dan’s antics, with plenty of genuine laugh out loud moments.

I’m so sad the series is over but it was so fun to follow the journey!

Where do I even begin?

Dan and Makenna had my heart gripped from their first appearances in Jenny Bunting’s book “Here,” and I have thoroughly bugged her about a happy ending for King Dan ever since. What I loved about their story the most was how we got to see Dan and Makenna over the course of the first three books, and then fill in all the gaps as the grand finale (that’s what she said. That’s what Dan said????)

Dan “King of My Heart” Price is the perfect wingman, friend, ex-lover, and genuine person in Lillyvale. Just ask anyone (except like maybe 3 people) in Lillyvale. He wants all of his friends to have a happy ending, but really, he is the most deserving. Enter Makenna, who turns all of that upside down.

Makenna was the fun, bantery, snarky side bitch of Lillyvale, constantly there for quips and saying everything we all wish we could say. She stirs up trouble, but I never anticipated my heart breaking over *hers* breaking.

In Hubby, Jenny takes everything you thought you knew about Dan and Makenna, throws it in a blender, and turns you to mush. The way these two fit so perfectly together after a little bit of sexy cat and mouse (the first time they got together, I gasped and had to take a walk) stitched my little Lillyvale heart together.

I rooted for them. I cried for them. I giggle snorted my way through this “cannot put the book down” single-sitting read, and then clutched my heart because the last few chapters snuck up on me. Thank god the girl gang of Lillyvale had me stocked up with Oreos and emergency tissues.

All jokes aside, while I begged for a happy ending for Dan “Silly Goose” Price, he truly is the King of Lillyvale’s heart, and finally getting to piece all of his parts together was 1000% worth waiting for.

I cannot believe that the Lillyvale Gang has come to an end, but I am so thrilled that I can go back and relieve their stories again and again. Now, excuse me. I bought a 6 pack of Coors Light and a pack of Oreos for this photo that I now have to finish.

Hubby is Jenny Bunting’s fourth book in her Here in Lillyvale series and is the finale, and whoah does this series go out with a bang!
The story of Dan Price and Makenna Brady, both of whom we have met previously, these two are a couple with loads of chemistry, baggage and a bit of a history. The odds are stacked against them, purely from other’s points of view, but I love that they pursue each other regardless. I’d like to say that they don’t care about the judgement, but Makenna does especially and it takes some time before they get past this.
Jenny Bunting has written this with heat, heart and humour. Her one-liners and witty banter made me snort with laughter numerous times, and the heat in this book is pretty HOT 🔥 and I loved it! The heart is all Dan, with his generous nature, his give it all and his love and passion for Makenna is amazing. Makenna hides behind her tattoos and bolshy attitude, but Dan sees beneath that and truly loves her for the person she really is. And Dan, oh what a sweet cinnamon roll hero he is, everybody’s best friend, he made me smile so much!
Jenny, you had me hooked from the first page (what an intro!) and I’ve loved reading this series and getting to know the Lillyvale crew! 💕

Thankyou to the author for sending me an early copy to read and enjoy. This is an honest review.

This book starts off with a bang. You get glimpses of Dan and McKenna in previous books, but now you get to see their full story.

You see McKenna, struggling to find her footing in Los Angeles as a make-up artist. Some of her insecurities she is fighting. He struggles with her family to understand her, and a little bit of why she is who she is.

You've seen Dan as the successful business man who is friends with everyone. However you see some of his fashion faux pas, he less svelte physique but more importantly you see some of the insecurity he has, his incredibly sweet heart, and his desire to find the one.

Dan is meant to be a hubby, in the sweet way he cares for McKenna, in the way he supports her, the way he lifts her up, the way he makes her believe that she is perfect as she is, and the way he supports her.

I loved to see how their relationship grew, how McKenna found her strength, and how they story unfolded. I can't forget to mention too all the steam, the steamiest of the series. A perfect end to the series.

I received a copy from the author for review, all opinions are my own and given freely.

This was cute! What didn’t make it 5 stars for me:
- the writing style: the prose moved from scene to scene with minimal descriptions of feelings and thought. I was always wanting to feel more, understand more, see more. It was a bit clunky at times, too - especially during dialogue. I had to skim and just focus on what was being said vs the details in between to make it flow better.
- Dan’s appeal may have fallen victim to the first point. I honestly couldn’t understand the chemistry between the two beyond the sex, and I wish that was more descriptive. 🥲.
- third act conflict was resolved quickly, mainly because of the time jump between chapters. I wanted more angst!

Overall, a pleasant read.

Dan the Man!

After meeting and witnessing Dan's over the top personality, and watching the sparks he had with Makenna it was wonderful to finally get to see their story. I loved this book because it reminded me that everyone is a little bit broken but its up to all of us to find someone who appreciates us for our faults while working to grow and change. Be ready to see another side to Makenna, the girl who looks like she doesn't care what anyone thinks cares more than you know! I loved this series & I know I'll miss Lillyvale & this group of friends!

Finally Dan’s story. It’s the one I was waiting for. Books 1-3 gave a lot more detail to certain events since they’re along the same time frame. This is by far the best one of the series. It was different seeing into Dan’s mind, and him being more serious. I enjoyed them being together. I felt the secrecy went on too long. Especially after the wedding. I didn’t like how everyone tried to make nice with Makenna by acting like they supported her all along. Clearly they did not. She was constantly warned away from him. Still a very good book.

This book is the perfect finale to a hilariously wonderful series. The Big Lebowski rug that ties all the stories together. A magically Dan-licious delight.

Highly recommend reading the first three books of the series to appreciate all the fun plot twists!

Five Dan-lectable stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A fantastic conclusion to the series!

It's the love story we have been waiting for in Lillyvale, Dan and Makenna...they are quite the unlikely match and their journey to HEA is a rough one. But their stubbornness, determination, zest for life and un-weilding love for each other will keep you turning pages and wishing for more!

It was amazing and brought out a lot of issues that people have within their family and how that can effect someone deeply. Overall super cute and I definitely cried on a couple of parts.

If you’ve read the “Here in Lillyvale” series you know Dan and Makenna, therefore you have a suspicion something’s up with them and you know they deserve the happiest ending of them all.

When I love a series as much as I love this one, it’s hard for me to choose a favorite book, but here’s the deal about this one in particular: Dan and Makenna are such a crucial part for the first three couples to get together so Jenny didn’t really have to build intrigue in the first pages of Hubby, it was already done since the first one.

This is why this book was absolutely perfect!

When you read Here, Hustle and Home you know something’s going on behind the scenes, but absolutely nothing prepares you for what’s happening. You don’t see it coming, so, from the start of this book, you figuratively and almost literally shit your pants in the first page.

Yes, the first page.

This is definitely a standalone, you will be able to follow the plot without reading the first three books but it will not hit you the same way mentally and emotionally if you haven’t. There’s certain image you get of Dan and Mackenna during the series, you get to love them so much, because it’s clear the beautiful people they are and how big their hearts are, so being able to finally get to know them and see them falling in love, finding out the secrets they held and how much they really loved and cherished the friendship with the rest of the characters was a different type of love as a reader ─so, thank you, Jenny for giving me one of my favorite book couples of all time.

That being said, I need to talk about Dan first. He is everything you imagine he will be and so much more. The guy is a walking heart! He is covered in love, kindness and selflessness. He was even more vulnerable than I was expecting behind that flirtatious and cocky facade. He was more shy than he appeared to be and a little bit more insecure than he showed, that’s why his filtration turned out to be so sweet. He loved too much and too hard, the way he made himself at home in Makenna’s heart was so freaking beautiful and beyond touching it made me cry. He understood her, accepted her and encouraged her as no one had ever done before. He was honest and raw with her, he believed in her and that’s why Makenna trusted him enough to fall for him completely.

He was the most reliable friend, the person everyone could count on.

I knew Mackenna was holding a mask, but I wasn’t expecting what was behind it. She was so wounded and insecure it broke my heart. She was so misunderstood and believed other people’s perceptions about her, people who wanted to control her life to make her be what she wasn’t instead of seeing the beautiful soul she was. For some reason, she reminded me a lot about Rizzo from Grease (to get you a better idea), I rooted for her the entire time and many times I wanted to get into the book to kick some butts to defend her. She was dying for people to see her and loved her as she was and believed she was so much more than the walls she put around her to protect herself. She was scared because people made her believe she wasn’t made for happiness.

”Fear was a powerful obstacle to happiness.”

I had some ideas of how Makenna was going to react to Dan’s charms, but I found myself crying and sighing hard seeing her finding out how much Dan was so perfect for her in every single way.

The steam of this book was perfect, there is no other way to describe it. They had so much chemistry together in and out of the bedroom that every love scene was absolutely mindblowing and romantic. Definitely the steamiest of all four books!

I’ve said this about Jenny’s books before and I say it again: She makes me genuinely laugh out loud! I snorted and chuckled so many times during this book from start to finish. The dialogues and situations are witty, clever and so hilarious (being inside Dan’s head was a true delight). It definitely balanced out the avalanche of emotions that came over me with everything else that happens in the book.

Hubby crowns “Here in Lillyvale” as one of my favorite series of all time.

Jenny, hats off!

First of all, I’d like to apologize to the short king himself, Dan Price, for not having any Coors Light to feature in this picture because, frankly, if I wanted to drink water, I’d get it out of my faucet for free.

Hubby is the fourth and final book in the Here in Lillyvale series, which means @jennybuntingbooks has officially finished her first series! The first three books can be read out of order, but I would highly recommend reading the rest of the series before Hubby in order to get the full effect.

Hubby follows Dan and Makenna, who we’ve already grown to know and love over the course of the series. However, this book is different, in that we get to experience scenes we’ve already seen in previous books from Dan and Makenna’s perspectives. We see their friendship and love grow and blossom as they keep it a secret from their friends and family. We see these two unstoppable humans’ fears and insecurities, and how they help each other overcome them.

It was adorable. It was heartwarming. It was steamy as HELL. It was the most beautiful love letter to a series and characters the author clearly loves with all her heart.

If you’re looking to get invested in a romance series with wit, charm, and a memorable cast of characters led by some truly bad-ass women, you need to read the Here in Lillyvale books.

Also, I need the next Jenny Bunting book yesterday, please.

I’m sad I’m no longer living in Lillyvale with these characters. I loved Dan and Makennas story so much!! I feel like they’re my BFFs now and I miss them already. So happy I know I’ll get to continue seeing them in Jenny’s other series!
