This is a lovely little Omegaverse short fans of sweeter/lighter Omegaverse will enjoy. It's fast-paced, tightly written, with high steam. As usual, Carlisle's prose reads clean & easy with good flow. The beginning is filled with angst, and the plot starts to unfold towards the 30%-50% mark. I liked how Calum was portrayed as protective & caring, wanting what was best for all parties when he collected Omegas. The twist with how Calum . This novella leaves off with room in the plot for the next book, and I think there's space for more aspects of this world to be developed. How do the Alphas become matched with the Omegas? While predetermined matches with a significant other is motivation enough for someone to run away, I think there could be more developed as to why the Omegas are so disturbed. I would think growing up in this society the Omegas would be conditioned to accept their fate, but things have to be going awry (like Omegas being abused) for them to run away. In one flashback Clara just said she had a bad feeling, but I feel it might have been a larger cause for worry if Clara had witnessed/heard more examples of the Omegas being abused. With what's going on with the Saviors things obviously aren't all on the up and up for Omegas in this society.

What happened to Clara with the Saviors is horrifying, and I like how it looks like we'll see more of the Saviors in future books. I enjoyed the sociopolitical worldbuilding towards the end with Rebecca's active role - I hope to see more of Rebecca & Calum in this series too.

This is a standalone novella with a hea :) No ow drama/cheating. No triggers really. If you're in KU & want a quick Omegaverse read & like sweeter stories, this is a good one to check out. I also recommend Intrusion & Beauty and the Alpha by this author, other well-done novellas.

Another good one!

Liliana Carlisle's stories keep getting better with each one! I'm still kinda confused if the last few and this one are in the same Omegaverse world, it seems like it though they don't intersect.

I'm a little torn on this one, I liked the story okay, I understand why Rebecca/Aria did what she did, but I was really pissed at Calum. I don't like that he was physically abusive to Aria in the beginning. I don't care that he thought she was a Beta hiding an Omega, or that he thought she was taunting him about his dead mate, there is no excuse to throw her around and almost choke her to death. His actions were so ugly in the beginning I really didn't feel sorry for him with what happened later.

This was a pretty straight forward OV, the Omega had misconstrued notions about alphas, so she went into hiding. Her Alpha mate is a collector, one of her biggest fears, and he gets the assignment to investigate the tracks she inadvertently left behind. From there it's heat and chemistry, pasts blown apart, mysterious secrets revealed, and redemption.

I liked this one, though it had things I didn't like. The abuse could trigger some. I'm glad in the end Aria could find out what a true Alpha/Omega bond could be like; to be treasured and loved, to have somebody that would do anything for you. I also am interested in seeing where the over-arcing story is going to take us.

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Traumatized by her sister's abduction at the hands of Omega "Collectors," Aria is determined to avoid her fate. When she, in turn, is assigned to an Alpha, she disguises herself as a Beta and runs. Soon, however, a Collector comes after her...

If you're looking for an Omegaverse novella that's not too harsh, you may enjoy this. I liked Aria; Calum had a lot to atone for, but I think he redeemed himself at the end. In addition, the prose was error-free and the plot had an interesting twist I didn't see coming.

That said, in part because this is short, there are a lot of narrative ellipses that left this reader with questions. For example, in this Omegaverse, Alphas and Omegas are matched, but the book never explains how (it's by computer, but what are the criteria?). If, as the Collectors claim, Alphas cherish the Omegas they cannot live without, then why was Aria's sister so frightened (and why was there a way for Aria to escape)? And why can't Aria return to . It's possible that these questions will be addressed in subsequent volumes, but I think world-building should be emphasized in the first book of any series. Finally, because we've never heard of .

3 1/2 stars. The author provides a playlist; I recognized two of the artists. I really am getting old.

This book has so much potential!! Sadly it‘s too short. But very interesting and well written, I enjoyed reading. It was hot, funny and heartbreaking at the same time.

Sometimes (actually, as of lately it's been quite often) I need something short I can easily finish in one setting and be done with. And this author is really turning out to be a favorite whenever I need just that. A simple but super well written plot with lots of steam, a lovely and strong heroine and an asshole Hero, just like I love :)

Would super recommend if you're in the mood for a short omegaverse novella!

A somewhat enjoyable omegaverse romance.

The plot was exciting. The development of the romantic relationship was over the top angsty, which is not typically my favorite, but the stakes were high throughout, which I tend to enjoy. The main problem with this novel was the world building. Are the Collectors government agents or a private business with government contracts? What, exactly, is their purpose in this society, spelled out? How do the microchips on Omegas work to legally link them to their fated mates? Is this an alternate history contemporary society, a dystopian society, or a futuristic society? All of these questions remained unanswered in this novel, which I found irritating.

I’m in a “200 pages or less mood” and this was absolutely perfect because I’m also in an omegaverse mood 🤣

I love a dark romance so this book really just checked several boxes for me! Very intrigued for the rest of the series.

Basically a little omega ran and hid as a beta because she was terrified of being with an alpha after her sister up and disappeared when she presented.

There’s like a whole system in place for alphas to find their omegas and a collection team, it’s pretty interesting! There’s also some bad guys in the mix who are really creating a lot of confusion for the omegas and doing horrific things so I think I’m in for quite the journey!

Omegaverse where the collectors hunt down the lost omegas that have run away from their true alpha. The omegas are chipped and sent to their true alpha against their will; the runaway omegas are in danger of being captured by enemy alphas that pimp them out. Calum is a collector and dead inside when his omega faked her death and ran away. She hates alphas because her sister went missing soon after she presented as an omega. It's a short read but a very fun ride.

when in doubt, read omegaverse smut
just not this one

why is bro so angry
ok so the girl u KIDNAPPED mentions a “she”
and ur stupid ass assumes she talking about ur dead mate and taunting u?
comprehension skills? nonexistent
why was he so violent towards her
the mmc: rahhh *strangles her* how dare u *sniffs her* omg smells so good *immediately rock hard but also very angry*
girl-

i actually quite enjoyed the start of this
i feel like if the author actually embraced the HORRIFIC scenes that she wrote,
the entire book might’ve been more cohesive, coherent, and entertaining

so ur telling me that:
- he kidnaps her (he thought she was hiding omegas and she would be ‘severely punished for it’)
- strangles her cuz he thinks she was trying to provoke him (she wasn’t, she was currently forming traumatic memories)
- gets her super worked up during her heat which she can’t control, and then calls her a whore and a slut for it (while also being super into her being horny cuz he’s also horny)
- suddenly realises that he’s a bad person (but only because he finds out that she actually matter to him— she’s his mate— and not a random ass girl)
- he then just suddenly rescues her sister after she disappeared YEARS AGO AND NO ONE KNEW
- acts all humble and refuses to tell her it was him
- SHE IMMEDIATELY FORGIVES HIM AND THEY LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER AND THEN SHES A FUCKING THERAPIST/HR FOR THE ‘collectors’ (WHICH STILL ARE HORRIBLE REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT THERE IS A WORSE GROUP - JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS BADDER THAN U DOESNT MAKE U GOOD)

i enjoyed trapped with the alpha (or whatever) and alpha inmate cuz the author actually embraced the crazy toxicity of the relationships
if u wanna go down the dark route u actually have to commit
don’t make the story so incredibly dark and then be like “SURPRISE! EVERYONE’S ACTUALLY GOOD AND THEYRE JUST SUPER TORTURED”
SHUT UP
don’t make them good
- he does bad things
- he’s a bad guy
- he loves her
- she loves him
- HES STILL BAD

COMMIT JESUS CHRIST

Wow. I love Omegaverse stuff, and this had the potential to be super hot, but ... yikes. Calum was SUCH a dick. Like, not even a hot one. Just a big ol' mean dick. He physically abused Rebecca (the FMC) - almost going so far as to CHOKE HER TO DEATH, mind you - before oh no, whoops, turns out she's his mate! Lol, sorry babe, my bad!

The worst part? She just ... forgave him. Like, didn't hesitate to jump straight on that d's d when he did the bare minimum to make amends. Girl, have some self-respect - at least ask for a verbal acknowledgement of his wrongdoings or an apology, ffs.

The only thing saving this from being a 1 star is that I'm glad Rebecca could put herself to actual use at the end and help other omegas, instead of just pushing out some kids and smiling blandly up at her abusive mate, so ... that's something.

This is an enemies-to-lovers omegaverse book that I loved ready because the author was able to show the unique prospective of the fated mate bond through both the POVs of the omega and the alpha. She used the insecurities and false information that often leads to fears to lead the story of Rebecca and her drive to run away from her alpha. This of course leads to emotional decisions on both her alpha's and her part that put their tenuous bond in jeopardy. It was an emotional journey for these characters that felt real in it's struggle. So excited for new stuff from LC.

I was so surprised by this.
This isn't really a genre that I have ventured into before, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this. For the uninitiated (like myself 24 hours ago) Omgeaverse romances use the same pack hierarchy as in werewolf romances, but without them actually being werewolves. There's a lot of crazy sex, possessiveness and fated mate situations which I am all for!
It was recced to me by one of my lovely smutty book lover friends, so I knew that I would be on board in that regard because when it comes to well-written sex, their recs never miss.
But I loved the premise of this book too. The MC runs away from her fated mate after her sister is kidnapped and forced to make and fears the same treatment will happen to her. She's then hunted down and the whole hate to love thing happens which has me hooked.
I also loved the characters limited backstory for such a nice short read. It was the perfect mix of plot and characterisation that didn't drag anything or throw off the book's pacing.
Plus the romance was so cute, they were really adorable and caring and just perfect for each other.
As my first jump into the genre, I would definitely reccomend it.

I didn’t like many of the things I read in this Omegaverse story. With fated mates, omegas are chipped to keep track of them. They know who their mate will be, which raises the question of why they run. Collectors are brought in when an omega runs and the whole situation sounds like it could turn painful and abusive. The Alpha supposedly cherishes their omega, but that apparently isn’t always true.

Aria is an Omega who thought she knew about alphas, and that information scared her enough to go into hiding. Her Alpha mate is a collector and he is assigned to check out the tracks she had left behind. It was easy for the reader to feel her fear which wasn’t fitting into the “cherishing” that is supposed to happen. There was often violence and abuse. So overall, despite the “hearts and flowers” we were supposed to feel, I didn’t feel comfortable on behalf of the Omegas. The whole deal sounded unpleasant and depended on an arrogant alpha who has one thing only on his mind and it isn’t the Omega’s comfort and safety.

I am enjoying this Liliana Carlisle created Omegaverse. I look for and snap these up. (I know I’ve said this before, but I feel worth the repeat -this has aaaalllll the Omegaverse loveliness, intensity and tropes, but also closure, HEAs and it’s not too harsh for my delicate sensibilities.) Hunted looks to be the first in a new series, and I’m eagerly awaiting more.

Ariel is an omega, fighting against her place in society. There seems to be a lot of secrets, or basic lack of information available to citizens, and these leads to very understanding actions of self preservation. Calum, our Alpha hero, is struggling with an unimaginable loss. A loss that changed the course of his life and colors how he sees the world and all interactions he has with others.

This was a one-sitting read for me, turning each page with glee without reservation and an imagination filled with possibilities. A definite reread and this author is on my To Be Read list. Fantastic!

Caum is totally amazing when he finds his Omega after years of being lost.
Calum and Rebecca were to be Alpha and Omega untill the Collective stole her sister. And so Rebecca died and Aria was born. Then the Collective send Calum to find Aria but can she trust him ?

Great A&O read

This was an enjoyable read. The story was short, but it was solid. I never felt like there were things glossed over and the storytelling never felt shallow. With the dual POV, I felt like I had a better understanding of each of their characters and enjoyed getting to know them.

If you like omegaverse you will love this book. I’ve never read this take on omegaverse before. Fated mates, omegas are chipped to keep track of. They know who their fated mate will be.

The collectors come in when an omega runs. I don’t want to give too much away but this was so good and so satisfying. I couldn’t put it down once I started it. I love books where the alpha cherishes their omega.

This was my first Liliana Carlisle but I want to read it all now. I can’t wait for the future books in this series!

DNF.

THIS MIGHT BE THE FIRST OMEGAVERSE STORY I HAVE DNFed.
Why? Because the heroine's annoying as fuck.
I'm more of an endearing heroine type and this one...the bond between them didn't even feel real enough. It was soooo superficial.

Liliana Carlisle has managed to pack quite a lot into this novella, and I thoroughly enjoyed all of it. The book touches on some pretty dark themes and Calum, the hero, is quite physically rough with Aria when they first meet, immediately upping the ante in this fast-paced and twisty enemies-to-lovers romance. I really enjoyed the author's prose, the story flowed smoothly and proved very easy to read. In fact I completed it in one sitting, thoroughly enjoying every moment of it! Highly recommended if you're looking for an omegaverse story that finds the middle path between dark and sweet!

Despite being a quicker read there was plenty of conflict between Aria and Calum, plus a good deal of heat. This couple have chemistry in spades and the sex scenes were incredibly steamy and erotic. Whilst most of the book focuses just on the two protagonists, allowing us to really get to know them, the author did add colour to the story by including a few side characters.

Speaking of our main characters, Aria/Rebecca was one tough cookie. Possibly a little naïve at times but entirely understandable given that she is only nineteen. The hero, Calum, displayed some pretty unpleasant behaviour before we really got the chance to know him, so I initially found it a little harder to warm to him. As the story progressed not only did he redeem himself but I could understand why he acted the way he did. He definitely earned himself a place in both my and Aria's hearts.

Whilst I was left with a few questions about the how their society was structured, there was enough world building for me to work with and, since this is part one of a series, I'm sure we will find out more in future books. As it's a fairly quick read the story could easily have been overwhelmed by too much exposition on the world, so overall I'm happy with the balance the author went for.

This book did not hold my attention. While It had a very convoluted story, the world building was very poor and there were lots of unanswered questions.

In this world, couples are pre-paired but sometimes the omega runs away because she doesn’t want to be with her assigned alpha. In such cases the collectors track the omega down and forcefully give her to the alpha. There were so many unexplained questions- how do couples get paired? Who decides this?

Anyway, back to the story.. The hero doesn’t realize that the heroine is his pre-paired mate. He is violently questions her while working on one of his collection cases. There is some backstory about the heroine missing some piece of jewelry which turns up with the hero. And so, they figure out they are each other’s pre-paired mates.

Once they realize they are mates, the hero never once apologizes for the violence he committed against her while questioning her as a suspect.
Anyway, I DNFed the book after that. This story was tedious and the couple had no chemistry. I had zero interest left in finishing this book.

Giving it 1 star.

Absolutely the fluff not - this book did not just try to convince me that it's okay to both:

a) implant chips into certain members of a population that, if taken out, will kill said person with poison

Because....

b) it's all done for their own good because they're just too stupid to understand what they want - so we have to hunt them down if they dare try to circumvent this slavery

I kept expecting us to all agree that this is peak subjection of will, that it's, you know... heinous and that perhaps hunting down the people who try to escape this hell isn't the answer we all once thought it was.

But no... This is al amazing, and normal, and why did we ever try to run away in the first place? No reason!

I'm generally able to give a lot of latitude to stuff like this in books - I'm reading omegaverse for goodness sake. There's internalized misogyny for days around here. But this was just a bit much for me to handle.

Well, darn. This didn't go in the direction I expected.

So, in this world, omegas present as Omega at 18, I guess. They are then implanted with a tracking ID chip and immediately sent off to their destined alpha, whether they like it or not. (There's an organization with the ability to match you with your mate.) Alphas want to be matched because they will go insane soon after their mate becomes available, if not matched ASAP. The only one with any choice in life are betas.

Rebecca had an older omega sister who didn't want to be sent away to her Alpha, so she was kidnapped out of her mom's house by the evil organization's "collectors." No one ever heard from her again.

When Rebecca presents as Omega years later, she has the chip removed and fakes her own death, rather than be forced to mate a stranger like her sister was.

She's eventually discovered by a collector named Caleb. Because she's disguised as a beta, he thinks she's a beta hiding an omega, and beats the shit out of her in his torture chamber to get her to confess. Then her heat suppressors wear of, yada yada, he realizes she's not only an omega, she's HIS dead omega, Rebecca!

To be honest, I thought he was redeemable. When he was torturing her, he sounded like he was in a cult, spewing a lot of cult speak, about keeping the natural order, and the joy an omega feels from a true mate, etc. So I got excited, dear friends. I got excited thinking this book was going to be about omega rights. Did she show him the way out of the cult?! Did they bring down the alpha patriarchy together?!

No, no they did not. That last scene made me so sad. She was working at the collection center like a freaky Stepford Wife! It was horrifying. The book never deals with the issues of free will, consent, torture, or anything else. I was left so disappointed.

I’m reading this on Kindle Unlimited right now. I started last night and I’m on chapter 27?
I like the concept. I thought I would from the summary. The author is a good writer. The story draws me in, but then I find myself irritated by simple continuity issues that should’ve been caught by a beta reader.
Around chapter 12 when Aria is first entering her heat, and Calum instructs her to get dressed the author tells us Aria’s breasts bounced as she pulls her pants on, followed by a reference to her clothed pus$y. Then without anyone ever taking her pants off she fingers herself on display for the alpha.
There’s also a storm mentioned that starts out as an approaching snow storm, but is later a rain storm instead.
Her throat is bruised from being strangled. But Lucas and Chloe don’t notice, say anything, or care. I guess that healed up over her heat?

Going from abuse to attraction with little to no transition is abrupt and feels weird. Repeatedly.

Also she had an entire year to herself and she didn’t watch one YouTube video on self defense? She barely struggled when he found her. There’s not One well placed kick? He’s an Alpha who has military style training. I think he can take a couple hits and still out maneuver her. It feels like the author pulled her punches on a few things for the sake of more rapidly progressing the plot. Which I understand the whole thing hinges on him apprehending Aria. I think we would get there anyway tho.

I think with a few minor tweaks the story could read a little bit smoother. I really needed to vent this. Now, I’m gonna go finish it! lol, i feel like the world building is preeetty good, and I still wanna know what happens next.

This book was just not my cup of tea. The writing wasn't bad and the begining was intriguing. The story had so much potential that unfortunately was left unreached.

!Slight spoilers ahead!

Aria and Cal start their relationship on the wrong foot.
Being an elite member of the Collectors, the force that collect the Omegas and unite them with their Alpha mates, he was asigned to extract information from her because she was suspected of hiding an Omega from their fated. (she was the omega)

Before he finds out they're mates he tortures the answers out. One could say he's only doing his job, but the thing is he treats her badly even after he realises there's a bond. (The bond did feel superficial to me anyway, I didn't buy it, nor did I buy their emotional connection)

I expected good groveling, and while he does save her sister and goes on and on in his inner monologue about how sorry he is, he doesn't truly apologise. So I'm still holding the horrible things he said and did to her against him.

What baffled me is that Aria said she hated him, and with good reason. But when she finds out he saved her sister she tells him that she loves him. That would be all right if the 180 didn't happen in a matter of a a few hours.

There were also a few plot holes and things left unexplained. How do the couples get paired? What's the actual hierarchy and leadership of their world? What's the meaning of the ring Aria was wearing? How did she gather information in the year she stayes in hiding? And so on.

All in wall, this wasn't my worst read this year, but it just didn't do it for me.

I love Liliana carlisle's omegaverse books because they're the perfect amount of romance and angst and perfectly safe. But this was a serious dissappointment. I m raging, fuming and cussing at the H in this one. He is the worst asshole alpha I have read and he is completely irredeemable. He never grovelled or redeemed himself. I can't believe Liliana carlisle wrote such a character. He constantly keeps torturing and hurting the h for the majority of the book, never apologising or grovelling for his misdeeds. He physically hurts her, throwing her around without care, and then calls her a "whore". I means that's the LAST thing you should say to your MATE. That's unforgivable. How can you?? He kicked her on her soft sorepoint when she was helpless. It's evil. He doesn't deserve her. What a bastard. I hated him with passion and wanted him to suffer seeing Aria mated with a better, nicer alpha who will worship her like a goddess. The whole time was waiting to see how he'll redeem himself but he never did. Towards the end was a weak attempt at that doesn't count and is not enough. I want verbal and physical apology. When your woman a whore just for responding to her biology on which she has no control over, you fucking get on your knees and BEG. You don't lock her in handcuffs and leave, godammnit.

And they GASLIGHTED her for faking her death. This is like worst case of victim blaming and abuse. They blamed HER for his abusives behaviour and evilness. I mean WTF?!! They make her feel guilty for trying to have freedom and save herself from being kidnapped.

This book could have so much better.
