Fingerprints: Finding God in Human Creativity

Rate this book
We lost God when lost confidence in the old sources of spiritual authority - the Church and the Bible. It seemed that God was dead, or at least the old ideas about God were. Since the seventeenth century though, we have been on the hunt for God again. We have sought God in physics, in psychology, in logic and philosophy - this time with a passion for truth and some much-needed humility. We have even sought God in, perhaps that least promising place, within what it means to be human. In this book, Nikki Eriksen explores how human creativity might draw us closer to the truth about God.In this third edition, all images now have an alt text description for people using screen readers.

This is a fascinating read for anyone who thinks about art and faith. The observations made about the relationships of art and God encompass contemplation, meditation, craftsmanship, design and how God can reveal Himself through Man's own creative processes.

The book is accessible but not condescending in its exploration of art in general and specific works. It is not didactic but builds a phenomenological understanding of art, reasons for expression and communication through creative arts.
