Hello and welcome. My name is Robert Biggs and to make life easier and in memory of my father whose middle name I took, I write as R V Biggs.
My work centres on real people living real lives in modern times but where themes of love, destiny and the strength of family lie central to each tale. Within each novel, I have endeavoured to weave joy with tragedy, jeopardy with hope, love with loss, and where the extraordinary slips unexpectedly into ordinary lives.
I was born and raised in the Black Country and apart from a year in a Scottish croft (that is a tale in itself) have returned to my roots. I am now retired with my wife Julie, along with memories of our beloved Black Labradors Sadie and Maggie — constant companions on long walks while I worked through plot lines and dialogue.
I worked for 35 years in telecommunications but changed career paths to a managerial supporting role within a local Mental Health NHS trust. It was during the period between these roles that the concept for my first novel Song of the Robin was born.
I am a firm believer that destiny and co-incidence exist hand in hand and this conviction steered much of my writing. A passion for holistic well-being and first-hand experience of the potential healing powers of Reiki, a form of energy therapy, drove me to take a Reiki level 1 training course to heighten my spiritual awareness. Experiences in these areas helped conceive the ideas that led to Song of the Robin and its sequels Reunion and Broken.
When I'm not writing (more often than not), I'll be getting out in the fresh air stretching my legs at National Trust sites, or country parks, or tending the garden. Maybe daydreaming late in the afternoon.

This installment was far more tragic and complex with metaphysical elements than the earlier volumes, yet I found it just as gripping and shrewdly plotted. I’m typically rather lazy when it comes to reading this mix of genres due to all the world-building and the creation of otherworldly rules and skills, so due to my sloth, I seldom read them, but this one was well worth the effort and I'd gladly continue on with subsequent volumes if the author could be bribed to continue on.
The uniquely crafted and cleverly contrived storylines were engaging and actively building in tension and menace while keeping my curiosity primed. Yet I kept wondering why a policeman turned farmer living in the country and experiencing threats didn’t have a gun. I was fully invested and had several theories going while often holding my breath in foreboding dread as I was afraid of what was to be unearthed concerning Jamie, the vulnerable child with Selective Mutism, or was he? I worried there was a dark force around or within him as he had no discernible soul or aura to those who could see them. I never would have guessed his contribution to the conclusion of the story and found it quite appealing. R.V. Biggs is a wily one.
This is the third book in the Sarah Macintyre book , throughout the books we have got to know her so well and you end up with a lot of empathy for her.
We are back with John and Sarah Macintyre, they are enjoying their idyllic peaceful life again , but all that changes when they turn on the TV and hear the news that there is a missing child! They are soon the main attention of the press and have to endure a lot of unwanted press attention ! Their once peaceful life is completely altered , we journey with them on a rollercoaster of emotions , joy , sadness , heartbreak .
Due to the way the author builds up the characters in the books you have a vivid picture of them in your mind , and it adds a lot of depth to the book and makes you want to keep reading as you are invested in them. This is a wonderfully written book , that flows nicely throughout , with a beautiful setting and great characters it was a joy to read.
Finally the third book in the series. A book that on one hand I was really eager to read but on the other didn't want to finish it as it would mean I had no more Sarah Macintyre books left! The fact that I felt so connected to Sarah and everyone around her is testament to this author's skills. Scarred by a tragic past, eleven year old Jamie Walker chooses not to speak. Consumed with jealous rage, Jimmy Gillespie is driven to violence. And John Macintyre awakens from a vivid nightmare convinced he is going to kill. Living high upon the Scottish hills, John and Sarah Macintyre enjoy a serene life until a televised news bulletin sends them on a desperate search for a missing child. After finding the child and returning him safely to his parents, the Macintyres are approached by the local press, attracting both unexpected and unwanted attention. But the aftermath of the media coverage changes the course of their lives forever, and events are set in motion that are joyful, heart breaking – and terrifying. Broken is a fast-paced, action-packed book from the first page. The focus of this particular instalment is on John, Sarah's husband and we see how the gift they share with their daughter too, changes their family. Yet another emotional rollercoaster of a book that tied the series together nicely. The danger that the Mcintyre family go through feels so real I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't put the book down until I had devoured every word. This series is unique and has been written so well that I have loved my time with Sarah, her family and friends too. The author has brilliantly portrayed each and every character to make them relatable and so real. The quality of the writing throughout made me so immersed in this series that I would highly recommend all three books to be read in order to gain the most from this journey the reader joins Sarah Mcintyre in.
Broken is the third in this series and continues the beautiful writing and pacing the first row novels had. This does focus more on Sarah’s husband, which I think adds to the overall story of the series. The first book is probably my favorite in the series because it started this wonderful, unique plot that is very different than what I usually read and what I expected. This is another emotional read with wonderful pacing. Once again, the characters are excellent and I feel they really made this book what it was. I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Read them in order and definitely check them out. Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources for the free review copy. All opinions are my own and unbiased.
"Broken", the third book in the Sarah MacIntyre series, didn't disappoint. Sarah and her family are enjoying their new life, in their inherited property, situated in the Scottish Highlands. They set up a business offering holistic therapies. At the same time the family work to understand and develop their psychic skills. But, someone else believes that he is the rightful heir to the property and seeks to destroy the MacIntyres. Sarah's husband senses something is wrong and starts having nightmares but does not understand how or why he senses an evil presence. This novel gave me goose bumps but kept me engrossed till the last page
Thanks to Rob for sending me this book and it’s two prequels. I was really looking forward to reading the last book, but equally sad that I was nearing the end. I’ve felt so connected with Sarah and her family and friends, and wasn’t quite ready to leave them.
This final book is fast paced and action packed from the off, and brings other characters into the magical world we’ve come to live in. This book, in my opinion, focusses more on Sarah’s husband John, and how this gift they all have has changed the family dynamics.
I have loved all three books but I’d say the first is still my favourite. It was so unlike anything I’ve read before which made it even more special, and I have recommended them to several friends already.
I found the first book was more about the spiritual, the second about the human nature, and this to one is a beautiful marriage of the two. It pulls your heartstrings left, right and centre, and at times, is truly heartbreaking. There is more at stake in this book, and you really feel the jeopardy this family is going through. I truly hope Rob gets the success his series truly deserves.
Sarah, John and Claire are settling into their new life in Scotland. Everything is going well and they’re all happy. Their gifts are growing stronger and they’re each finding their own way to use them. But one night one of Claire’s school mates goes missing, and between the family they desperately search to find him. After being successful they end up in the news, and this changes their lives forever. With Jimmy Gillespie out for his own personal gain and then acting in revenge, the family are in danger…… And it’s not only themselves they have to worry about after they have some new unexpected additions to their family…….
Yet again, I loved this story. It’s full of action and twists and you never know what to expect. It had me on the edge of my seat at times, warmed with joy, and heartbroken at others. I honestly had no idea where the story would go and was absolutely warmed by the ending, although it doesn’t come without tragedy, Having read all of the books, I’ve loved watching the families gifts grow, as has their confidence in dealing with them. Sarah is a wonderful and caring woman, someone w’d all like to have in our lives. John cares so deeply for his family and his protective instinct is challenged beyond belief in this. Claire is just amazing – a beautiful little girl with a wonderful and wise old soul. Not forgetting Pete and Rachel too who I loved being back with. Then we have the new characters – some of them will thoroughly warm your heart, others will make your heart ache and one in particular will just make your blood boil.
I love the setting. Their house and estate sound amazing, especially with the family history behind it; and because of that I felt some of the devastation they go through as events happen to them. I really enjoy the spiritual side to these books. They deliver the perfect amount, no matter what you believe and will certainly get you thinking about life and the things that happen. The strong bond that the family have is evident and it truly is lovely.
So if you’re looking for a wonderful new series to read with characters you can fully invest in, that will bring you plenty of action, mystery, a touch of the supernatural, spiritual gifts and beautiful settings then you should check this out. I’m actually really sad this is the last book as I”m going to miss the family so fingers crossed there will be more! Highly recommended by me.
This third part of the Sarah Macintyre series brings the content of the previous two to a culmination. Everything has been driving towards this point and the story of Sarah and her family can finally really begin.
Their journey together is one of connections, weaving unseen threads between each other. Each one of them experiencing energy and power in a different way, but ultimately always in a way that outsiders are unable to comprehend completely. Is it paranormal, another level of energy or shall we just simply leave at the inexplicable?
After certain events expose their special gifts to the world and also bring the family to the attention of someone with more nefarious intentions - the family faces more danger. Simultaneously they are asked to invite a broken soul into their home, in the hopes that they can help heal and keep him safe. The two events end in a violent collision.
This is shorter in length than the other two books and was much more concise in the approach in regards to the core premise. A much better read with clear vision, and of where the series could be taken if the author wants to.
The final book in this trilogy continues to follow Sarah and John as they are loving life, relaxing in the beautiful Scottish hillsides. A twist of fate again thrusts them into turmoil and chaos! This third book certainly doesn’t put the breaks on and I was gripped the whole way through this one as I was the last two!! Hold on for another bumpy ride. Fantastic read Thank you to the author and @rachelsrandomresources for the chance to read this fabulous trilogy!!
